"Doctor," I said, my voice firm, "I understand your concern. But I need to know, is there anything… special about these people?"
Dr. Evans looked at me, his eyes pleading. He opened his mouth to speak, then hesitated again. He clearly wanted to say something, but he was holding back.
"Doctor," I pressed, "time is critical. If there's something you're not telling me, something that could influence my decision, you need to tell me now."
Evans took a shaky breath. "There's a doctor among them," he admitted, his voice low. "Dr. Alayna Sandra. We're called here to treat the victims. But she's been coordinating the evacuation efforts within the apartment. She's incredibly skilled and dedicated. Losing her... it would be a significant blow to the survivors there."
