Azami's blue eyes sparkled as he stared at the tower of miniature pancakes I had made for him.
Osamu, on the other hand, sat quietly, meticulously placing a single blueberry on top of each of his three small, perfectly round pancakes. He hummed a little tune, a stark contrast to Azami's excited chatter.
"It looks like a mountain, Papa!" Azami exclaimed, his voice echoing in the small kitchen. "A mountain of deliciousness!"
I chuckled, ruffling his hair. "It sure does, champ. And you built it all by yourself."
Azami puffed out his chest with pride. "Yep!"
Mia smiled, her eyes soft with love as she watched them. "Don't forget to eat it before it gets cold."
"I won't!" Azami said, picking up his fork and knife. He had to stand on his chair to reach them, but he managed.
Osamu nibbled on his pancakes, his movements slow and deliberate. He was a different child from his brother, more reserved, more introspective.
