I took the sealed Amaia upstairs and reunited with my Seven Hill Knights in the room where Mother used to meet them.
All of us looked worse for wear. Some had minor injuries while others, like Kazuo and Yukihina had bloodied torn clothing.
The old council chamber felt smaller than I remembered. The long oak table where Mother once presided over the Seven Hills was scarred and dusty, the once-vibrant tapestries faded and torn from from the earlier battles in the castle. Sunlight filtered weakly through the cracked windows, casting long shadows across the room.
I took a deep breath. "Leonado has our six revived predecessors sealed away for now."
"And if the Dog decides to reawaken them?" Setsugen asked.
He was battered. His usual cool demeanor had given way to weariness and frustration. His coat hung off his shoulders in tatters, revealing bruises and cuts beneath. Even so, he held himself straight, as if determined not to show any weakness.
