Chapter 740 - 740 My Hero Academia: The Weight of Being Superman, U.A. High School, The Invisible Girl Toru Hagakure, and The Underground Idol, Pop Step.

Kara – Take that! I was the first one!~

Annie – Hmph, don't you mean your cousin was technically the first?

Barbara – I'm pretty sure he'd look better in a Batman suit.

Batman – ...

Kara – You're all just jealous!

Eve (Atom Eve) – Wait—so he not only gets the powers but also the costume? And what happens if he gets a superheroine template?!

....

He could feel the stares burning into his back.

It was normal, after all—a completely unknown guy had appeared out of nowhere and stopped a villain who had been giving trouble to four professional heroes.

At this point, people could only think of two possibilities: either he was a new hero like Mt. Lady, or he was a "Vigilante," a hero without a license.

"What are you doing? Film it already!"

The reporter pushed the cameraman to start recording. It didn't matter who he was—what mattered were his actions. Soon the news stations were filled with the ongoing scene: a dangerous villain and a brand-new hero.

Allen, for his part, kept holding Giant's fist with a strange sensation in his heart. It wasn't just the powers running through his body—there was something else.

For one minute—just one—Allen had become a Superman. Not a specific one, but a real Superman, in a version of Allen as Superman, and with that came the weight of being the Man of Steel.

In every universe, each Superman had lived a life—sometimes similar, sometimes drastically different.

Some had fallen into selfishness and evil, but the majority had remained steadfast.

Allen could feel every fight a Superman had ever had across thousands, millions of worlds—every victory, every fall, every time they died.

"Using a template isn't just using their powers… It's carrying everything with them..." Allen murmured, though his expression remained calm.

A normal person would have been crushed under such spiritual, mental, and emotional weight, but Allen wasn't just anyone. Although saying he was unaffected would be a lie.

In the eyes of others, Allen took their breath away. It didn't matter if it was this world or another, they could feel that this superhero was different.

There was something about him that couldn't be explained in words.

Allen looked at his hand and his gaze slowly sharpened with determination.

This was a Superman born from Allen Walker.

After feeling all that, what choice would Allen make?

RAAAHHHHH!

The villain roared, pushing harder against his fist, but he was unable to make Allen move even a single inch.

Angry, Giant pulled back his fist, grabbed a bus that had been trapped nearby, and threw it.

"Shit!" Mt. Lady tried to run to prevent a tragedy, but Allen was faster. He flew at supersonic speed and caught the bus in the air, gently lowering its momentum.

Thanks to a well-known Superman ability—tactile telekinesis—Allen was able to hold massive objects without them collapsing under their own weight or harming the people inside with excessive G-force.

Of course, the villain didn't care that Allen was saving people. Without hesitation he charged at him, his size increasing even more, going from four stories tall to seven—now even larger than Mt. Lady.

RAHHHHHH!

The massive punch pushed through the wind like a meteor heading straight for Allen. Allen watched for a moment before turning around and taking the hit with his back to protect the bus.

A massive impact.

It was so strong it caused a shockwave that made many people scream, worrying even more onlookers.

Mt. Lady covered herself with her arms, and when she was able to see again, she was speechless—just like the rest of the heroes, spectators, and the green-haired boy watching from a distance.

The bus was fine, Allen was still in the air, but he wasn't unscathed—blood began dripping from the corners of his lips.

A couple of children inside the bus looked out the window. When Allen noticed them, he gave them a small smile.

"Don't worry, I'm not that weak..."

GAAHHHH!

Giant struck Allen's back again and again, creating wind comparable to a hurricane. This villain, who had once been only somewhat dangerous, had become a monster.

"Stop!"

Mt. Lady ran and grabbed the corrupted giant from behind. The force shook her violently, but she refused to let go.

Kamui used his roots to hold back Giant's arm, but the strength was so overwhelming that he was nearly dragged away.

Backdraft used a water rope to hold Kamui in place, while Death Arms hurled an empty car directly at the giant's face.

Thanks to the assistance of the heroes, Allen managed to lower the bus to a safe spot.

As soon as he did, people rushed out and crowded around him—including reporters.

Allen let his hair fall over his eyes, and considering he was taller and more muscular than his counterpart in this world, people shouldn't recognize him after this… right?

"Sir, can I get an autograph?!"

"Are you a new hero?!"

"Are you a vigilante?!"

"Sir, answer us!"

"Say something for the audience!"

One question after another—they hadn't even defeated the villain yet, and people were already demanding pointless things.

Allen ignored them and focused on the pair of children. Seeing their bright eyes, he couldn't help smiling and nodding at them before flying back toward the giant.

This time, to end it—something both Mt. Lady and Kamui were grateful for, since they had both been tossed aside by the giant earlier.

Feeling the sunlight reinforcing his body, Allen clenched his fist, gathering all his strength—just in time, since he had less than ten seconds left of the transformation.

Giant roared fiercely, doing the same and tightening his massive fist, now wrapped in the power Lucifer had granted him.

The moment their fists collided, a massive shockwave shook the city of Musutafu, Japan, located in Shizuoka Prefecture.

For a brief moment, their power was equal—until Allen, feeling the S on his chest burning, let out a cry as he pushed himself beyond his limit.

"Ahhh!"

Giant's fist gave way, breaking apart. Allen kept flying until he reached the giant's face and struck him, creating a blinding flash of light.

....

When the light faded, they found Giant lying in a crater with one arm broken.

Allen watched the commotion from the shadows of an alley before turning around to leave.

Lucifer – So, how did it feel to embody hope?

"You're disgusting," Allen said tiredly. Using templates wasn't free—it seemed to consume quite a lot of stamina.

Lucifer – You didn't expect I'd let you obtain the powers of gods and demons so easily, did you?

"..."

Lucifer – Every template has weight: the burden of hope, the weight of their lives, all of them, every variant, every timeline. Being Superman meant you had to endure that. But even if some variants were evil, most Supermen were noble… However, what would happen if you became someone else? Perhaps a hero who lost everything and lives in constant suffering… or a villain with a destructive, cruel, and twisted mind. Could you endure that without corrupting yourself?

"You're really enjoying this, you bastard," Allen swore that someday he'd wipe that smile off the devil's face.

Lucifer – Yes, indeed I am! …Though more than anything, I wonder if I can change you. Will you become cruel like Void? Or will you grow closer to what you once were?

"...?"

Lucifer – Doesn't matter. I'm leaving. I don't think I'll bother you again, so enjoy this world~

[Not sure if it's a good moment, but you've obtained five pulls.]

"You really know how to pick the worst moments…"

....

(U.A. High School)

Nemuri arrived at the most famous school in Japan, the place where the best professional heroes of each generation were raised.

It had a peculiar structure of four large buildings connected to each other.

Nemuri looked around and walked inside without much trouble, although she had to identify herself. She walked through the hallways until she reached the principal's office.

"Come in."

Nemuri opened the door and saw a large humanoid white mouse behind a desk. He wore a suit and had a scar over one eye.

"Principal Nezu."

"Oh please, Miss Kayama, have a seat."

"Principal..." Nemuri sat down, waiting for Nezu to speak.

Despite his appearance, Nezu was one of the brightest minds in all of Japan, if not the world, all thanks to his quirk, "High Spec."

"Have you thought about my proposal?"

"Let Allen study at the U.A. and me become a teacher here?" Nemuri frowned. "Principal, I wouldn't like Allen to enter this world, nor for his abilities to become known."

Nezu remained silent.

"The young Allen has so much potential. This is a good way to help him develop that power."

"Won't it be a way to control him?" Nemuri knew she was being rude to someone who had once been her sensei, but she couldn't back down.

"Miss Kayama, you know well that sooner or later the world will learn about Allen and his abnormal capabilities. And possibly both the villains and the government will set their eyes on him. However, if he becomes a professional hero, it will be much harder for them to lay their hands on him..."

Nemuri clenched her teeth. She knew Nezu was right. Allen's powers weren't something that could be hidden forever, and sooner or later they would be revealed. By that time, it was better for him to have learned to control them and be able to defend himself.

"I'll think about it..."

Nemuri left the office, leaving Principal Nezu deep in thought.

"It's been ten years... heh... perhaps I was careless letting them grow so attached to him?"

Nezu shook his head and turned on a TV in his office. It was broadcasting footage of the mysterious superhero who had appeared out of nowhere.

Nezu's eyes opened wide.

"I think we're a little late..."

....

Allen walked through the city streets while observing everything around him. The sun was setting, and he felt increasingly interested in this world.

In every world he had visited, "special" people were few—whether superheroes, mages, martial artists, etc.—always scarce compared to the general population. However, this world was different.

At every corner, there was someone with superpowers or some unique trait. Even walking became a kind of experience.

He even saw a businessman who turned his hand into a comb to fix his hair.

"With 80% of the population having quirks, anything could exist..."

Distracted by the man, Allen bumped into a girl, who screamed and fell backwards.

"Ah!"

"Sorry—"

Allen stopped mid-sentence when he realized that the girl was not ordinary.

Thor – Is this some kind of spirit or something?

Rangiku – Haha, this is what a soul would look like if it wore actual clothes in the human world~

She was invisible, but only her body—so her clothes appeared to float. Still, her silhouette was clearly that of a teenage girl.

"Sorry, I was distracted." Allen offered his hand to the invisible girl. She stayed silent for a moment, not moving or responding.

[Toru Hagakure – Quirk: Invisibility]

A small label appeared above the girl's head for a moment. Allen took an interest. He had walked around the city and seen only a few people with labels, which made it clear that Toru was also relevant to the world's story.

"T-thanks." Shyly, she accepted Allen's help and stood up. She fixed her skirt and seemed a bit uncomfortable.

"Is something wrong?"

Toru immediately jumped in place, coughed a little, and smiled—or that's the impression Allen got.

"Don't worry, it's normal for people to ignore me. I mean, I don't have much presence. Haha!"

The girl joked with an energetic attitude, although she still seemed slightly nervous.

"I'm glad." Allen smiled. "By the way, I'm Allen Walker."

"Oh." The girl shook her head—at least it looked like she did—and then responded, "Sorry, I'm Toru Hagakure."

"Nice to meet you."

As Allen answered, he gave her a kinder smile. If this girl walked around invisible while wearing regular clothes, it was easy to deduce she couldn't turn off her quirk.

It must've been a heavy burden. Imagine waking up every day unable to see your own face.

"Hehe, don't worry Allen-kun! Even if it doesn't look like it, I'm really tough! I even plan to be a professional heroine!" Toru flexed her arm—or tried to—but only a floating bracelet moved upward.

"I can see that." Allen joked. "I'm sure you'll be seen as a great hero someday."

"Ah, haha, you're funny!"

Toru was cheerful and proud of her quirk, which allowed her to aspire to becoming a professional superhero.

Allen and Toru talked a bit longer before saying goodbye.

Unexpectedly, Toru asked for his contact. This was new to Allen, who thought Japanese girls were more reserved about giving out their numbers.

Of course, he didn't refuse. After all, Toru was a good girl, and to understand this world's plot, Allen needed to stay in contact with people who had labels.

Allen waved goodbye to Toru, who ran off while waving her hands enthusiastically.

What Allen didn't know was that once Toru arrived home, she threw herself onto her bed and screamed into her pillow out of embarrassment. After all, she was a normal girl—how could she not feel embarrassed after asking a boy for his number?

"I hope he doesn't misunderstand..."

Toru wasn't lying—people often ignored her because, well, she was invisible all the time. Perhaps that was why she developed such an extroverted and cheerful personality, constantly trying to be noticed.

"He was the most handsome boy I've seen in my whole life..." Toru murmured before rolling around in her bed again—until her mother scolded her for making noise.

....

Allen continued walking through the streets until he heard someone singing.

Feeling curious, he went to take a look, only to see a girl standing atop a streetlight.

She was young, with pink hair tied into twin tails. She wore a black leotard with succubus wings and a heart-shaped cutout on the chest, a miniskirt with three hearts on the belt, knee-high boots, and long gloves reaching her elbows.

[Kazaho Haneyama – "Pop Step"

Quirk – Leap]

"Is everyone doing goooood!~" Pop Step shouted while holding a microphone.

"Yes!"

"We love you, Pop-chan!~"

Below the streetlight, around twenty boys were cheering her on.

"Alright, here we go!"

Pop Step began singing and dancing atop the post while her fans cheered, and everyone else looked on, confused.

Pop Step was a self-proclaimed amateur idol who often held improvised concerts around the city. Of course, she didn't have permission for any of it, so she usually ran from the police whenever she got caught.

But that was easy thanks to her quirk, which allowed her to jump long distances.

Sirens

"Tsk." Pop clicked her tongue, gave a cute farewell salute with a wink, and jumped away into the distance.

"This world is full of characters..." Allen said, and the Chat agreed.

Allen left as well. He pulled out his phone from his pocket to figure out the way home. However, when he came back, he was scolded by Nemuri for being out so late when he had just been released from the hospital.

He apologized, and they had dinner together. Once in his room, Allen stared out the window at the night sky.

Makima sat on his head in silence. "It seems like a picturesque world. Not completely safe, but not a constant massacre either."

"That's true. Let's hope it stays that way."

....

In a secret hideout, a man in a black suit with an intimidating aura and a black helmet watched a screen in silence. It showed the battle between Allen and Giant.

"Impressive powers... I even felt they rivaled All Might's. Who is this individual?"

The man stood up and walked out of the room.

"I'd like to have his quirk..."

Those last words would terrify most heroes if they heard them. This man seemed dangerous by his presence alone.

A/N: Well, you probably noticed, but the ages were changed. MHA starts with the cast at fourteen years old, then takes them to sixteen to avoid some problems. 😏
