It had been a couple of days since the mass land buy from James, having people speculate about him. Some was envious but others were holding a grudge since he dared to oppose the Kennedy's.
Ollie continued to remain silent of what really happened to James all those years ago, leaving Charles to investigate the matters himself after hearing what Madam Morgan told him.
He sat in his study reading a medical file the hospital gave him on James "victim has cuts to 80% of his body, 3rd degree burns scattered across his chest and back, 3 broken ribs, left arm had two separate breaks and both legs, possible collapsed lung"
"How did he survive all of that?" Charles asked
his butler stepped forward "sir after he was thrown out of the hospital people threw him into the back of an SUV and we found out that they went to Darth, we still don't know where the security footage from that time had gone"
meanwhile Morgan received a call from the lawyers she sent to help James hearing that everyone decided to back down and transfer the shares plus compensation for wasting everyone's time. putting James back at full ownership. She decided to wait for a few more days before going to check in with James.
Charlotte walked out of The Brand seeing a familiar face, her smile instantly vanished "Sedrick, didn't expect you to be back so soon"
"I am here to fulfil the marriage contract, why be so distant"
Charlotte rolled her eyes "That is still to be decided"
"Don't be like that, your family and mine need each other more than ever we know that you'll are on the verge of bankruptcy"
"Since you want to say it like that, I'm going to call off the engagement"

Julian walked up to her "Young Miss, we have to go."
Charlotte climbed into the backseat of the car leaving Sedrick standing at the front of The Brand. "Is everything ok Miss?"
"Just some minor issues, nothing major." looking at Julian through the mirror "Why did you come to pick me up today? I do have a car"
"Mr James, asked me to, He wanted to lessen what you do, So I came"
"What is the dork up-to?" Charlotte asked plainly
"Miss, he is currently in his study" he looked at charlotte through the rearview mirror seeing a small smile on her face "I'll take you to the penthouse, also the folder beside you is what you asked for"
Lucian was in his office ready to leave before Sedrick walked straight in " Charlotte is really unhappy with the arrangement"
Lucian shook his head "if Charlotte doesn't want to marry you then as her father i will support her decision"
"You misunderstand, if I don't marry her then the Kennedy's will be delighted to chase her" he smiled deviously
whack, Sedrick placed his hand against his face hearing "Charlotte is not a pawn, if I'm not mistaken Charlotte's worth is far more then you might think, if she marries you then it would be a loss for her and her family"
Sedrick began to fume hearing James words "you dared to hit me, you have no clue what you just did" he pulled out his phone dialling a number "the marriage is called off and this bumpkin started to bully me, you need to help me"
"You really shouldn't have done that" Lucian said.
"What are you spewing old man, either I leave today with Charlotte or this whole company goes under"
James seat on Lucian's desk, smiling out of pure excitement "Charlotte is currently at my house, so her leaving with you is out of the question"
"You are lying, in all these years she has been a shrewd"
"Lucian I want everything that this person's family owns within 5 minutes and whoever comes to back him up will receive the same treatment. just for speaking Charlottes name in vain"
Lucian nodded and called Stefan the only one he knew with that much power, a familiar voice rang out it was Ollie Kennedy "I would like to see who dares"
walking in, full of self-righteous "I dare" James said without a second thought"
Ollie stopped in his tracks at the sight of James "why is it you" trembling in fear
"I let you have how many days to confess, now it's too late. not only your family will know what you did, but you won't have anything left to recover" James said coldly
At the Kennedy manor Elder Charles got sent a message about everything the family had was being stripped away quicker than he could think, with a separate message saying "this is the consequence of your dear son not confessing. and here is what he has done. Good luck in the future Elder"
At the Penthouse Julian stood at the elevator waiting for James to return feeling guilty for deceiving Charlotte. the elevator dinged and James walked out of it "Julian you may take the rest of the day off, the matter has been dealt with"
Julian nodded and left, James walked into his study seeing Charlotte typing away on the computer. He leant against the door frame silently watching her work "Are you just going to stand there?" Charlotte said
"Anyone would think this is your study haha"
"Julian said you were here and dropped me off, but you weren't here so what happened?"
James said softly "I went to speak to your dad about something and bumped into your fiancee"
She stopped typing her face went pale "and?"
James explained what happened without saying anything about the Kennedy's "He already arrived and you pushed him away"
"Uhh, I did"
"Good, he was up to no good over abroad and was the same before he left as-well"
James turned around and walked out of the room; Charlotte watched his retreating figure. she went after him going into his room seeing James standing in the middle of the room with his shirt off. James turned around noticing her, sighing. Charlotte rushed over in a panic "what happened to you?"
she glided her hand over a couple of his scars "They are just a reminder of the past" James placed his hand on Charlotte's seeing tears was forming in her eyes "Don't worry so much, I am fine"
James wrapped his arms around her to comfort Charlotte seeing the hurt in her eyes, she vowed to herself to grow strong enough to protect James.
