The next morning James strolled into the kitchen, seeing Charlotte made breakfast and a cup of coffee. "Isn't this a surprise" James said with a smile. sitting at the table across from Charlotte. "Eat up, I swear it's not poisoned this time" Charlotte spoke sarcastically.
James suddenly remembered "I had everything that Sedrick and his family owned transferred to your name"
Charlotte dropped her fork "I don't want any of it"
"Then sell it, keep the money for yourself" James said sarcastically
Charlotte rolled her eyes "fine, I'll sell the assets but if they have businesses then merge them into your company"
"If that's your wish then I'll get it arranged but you need to accept 10% of the shares" James was trying to haggle so she has a better deal.
Charlotte put on a playful smile "I will accept but go on a date with me, in the city over"
James almost choked on his food, seeing the determination in her eyes "Once you sell the things you want to sell and we do the merge the 3 companies"
Wendy and Jake had all the forms on the office desk ready to be signed, tidying everything up neatly. "Compared to what we were doing previously, it seems a bit boring" Jake complained
"I get what you mean but this slow style isn't that bad, considering the style that Mr Jefferson has there should be more work like that soon enough"
"Since you both are bored, go to the recruitment centre and hire some of the best people and let them use the spare vacant land" James said plainly as he walked in heading to his seat, Jake and Wendy began to regret saying anything.
"After I sign these with Charlotte, we have some business to do and will be gone for a little while"
"Where are we going" Jake asked
"You both were bored so I gave you both work so it will be just me and charlotte"
signing the documents James looked at Charlotte and said "if you want to sell the Estates I will buy them off of you, that way you don't need to worry about waiting around waiting for them to be sold and you will have some spare change for yourself"
"That does sound good, but since when do I get to pay for anything?" Charlotte huffed
James smiled whispering "you don't pay mainly because I want your money to grow fast. to be my equal"
"The assets were estimated to be around 300 million, it's a small amount to you but it's a huge loss and gain" she said nervously
James transferred the amount to her without having a second doubt. "Once you hit 1 billion let me know, 300 million is basically my interest anyway" he whispered back"
pulling up his other bank account where the profits from went into, seeing that he accumulated a good amount already. seeing Wendy and Jake was still standing there he asked, "do you both want a challenge?"
they nodded their heads eagerly "this card has 3 million on it, this is your budget try to double it within a month, no shady ways though, this is all the profits from the companies so if you lose it all I will cancel the challenge and you both will have to reflect and try again after a month"
they nodded and left the office, brainstorming ideas. hearing the door click shut Charlotte spoke quietly "Those two are really interesting"
"haha, they are only interested in difficult work. the more difficult the more they accomplish"
"Do you think they would be able too?"
James shrugged "if they do then, the next challenge is to double it again. the more they succeed the harder it gets. and if they don't then it's not exactly a loss since it's only the profits and not my actual personal account"
Finishing signing the documents. Charlotte organised the transfer of the estates to James's name. Charlotte grabbed James's tie pulling him closer "Also the shares you are giving me, is just a precaution, I'm your personal assistant over anything"
They went to Lucian and his wife for lunch explaining to them that they are heading away for a little bit since everything is going smoothly, they didn't have any concerns compared to when Charlotte left for those few days after graduation. Lucian spoke suddenly "would you two want to do a strategic marriage so no one have the guts to use a marriage to undermine you two?"
James spat out his drink out of shock "um Sir that is a bit direct don't you think?"
"do you object?"
James looked at Charlotte saying "If someone is my equal then I will marry" giving her a wink.
Charlotte felt butterflies in her gut, "so that's what you meant about becoming your equal" she thought to herself
"Dad, it is inappropriate to be talking about this. and to be on the same footing if not in power but in wealth is easier if James and I work together. At the moment he has wealth and power and for me, I'm just an assistant so that won't fit well in the society. So, I have to get wealth over power first if we ever cross that line" Charlotte tried explaining
"What Charlotte is trying to say, is that if we cross that line a lot of people will have rumours surrounding it. therefore, it is best if she grew a name surrounding herself and it is easier to collect capital and assets over power" James clarified
Julian smiled raising a glass of wine "a toast to the both of you, from the first day until now you both have put in your all and get everything you want done."
everyone clanked their glasses together accepting the toast. James and Charlotte know the strength of both of them; there hasn't been a problem they couldn't overcome. hearing what her dad had said made her feeling something more towards James, remembering the equal comment.
