Lucas immediately stopped his action of turning around to walk away and threw a glare at Hannah, the culprit source of the offending sound. He clicked his tongue, then glanced at Jack, who was pretending to be discreet with his head turned away. With no protruding nail to hammer, Lucas felt stifled for a moment, then suddenly, he rolled his eyes. He looked at the only truly indifferent person on the bridge, and before she could react, he reached her in one step and took hold of her.
Estrella only became aware of what was happening when she reached his shoulder, and she felt an arm around her legs. The calm in her sky-blue eyes was shattered as they widened under the impact of the ripples that appeared within them. The shock that came from being manhandled shattered the calm indifference that had always characterized her, and for the first time in as far she could remember, she felt blood gather at her cheeks.
