I tried to relax my body by leaning on the chair; however, my stiff hands placed above the table betrayed me. The place was cold, but my palms were sweating.
"At last," I answered with a calm voice. "I've been waiting."
Wherever this conversation would lead, I had to make him believe. I must convince him. Only that way would I be able to escape from this place.
The shadowed figure at the end of the table chuckled again, that same maddening hum that was annoying yet could send shivers down your spine.
"They said an apple doesn't fall far from the tree. But look at you, you're completely different from your dead father," he replied. "It's a shame that he left this world too soon. We have big dreams. Now only the six of us are left to make them happen."
"Is it about him?"
I didn't care about his small talk.
