The hotel suite was too big and too quiet.
Whenever I was in Germany I was pacing. Stressed and smoking. It felt like the city did that to me. It made my chest tight and my thoughts loud.
I had the cigarette to my lips as I thought, walking along the balcony of the grand suite. The glass doors were open even though it was cold. A week away from Christmas in Berlin and the air smelled like pine and smoke and something sweet from the market down the street.
Lights stretched out below me. The Spree was black and glassy. The TV tower blinked red in the distance. Far off I could hear music and people laughing. It was supposed to feel festive. It did not.
I had to execute this correctly.
Seeing Kolli today was satisfying. More satisfying than I thought it would be. It was a dopamine rush, one I had not felt in a very long time.
Kolli was beautiful.
