The human body possesses remarkable adaptability. Take the Zoldyck Family's training philosophy, for instance… they temper their bodies from childhood, developing strong resistance well before adulthood, enabling them to immunize against many toxins.
Tonpa's physical fitness was average to begin with. Although he had trained hard these past few years, he was still far inferior to Biscuit and Law.
Biscuit's physical fitness could be considered the limit for her age group. For her to experience diarrhea was utterly unscientific.
Even more so for Law, whose body had been modified by the mysterious fruit and was immune against various toxins… yet he had followed in Tonpa's footsteps.
This in itself was highly abnormal. The surrounding area was shrouded in thick fog, and the only sound audible was the crow's cry, whose direction was impossible to determine.
With exceptional body control, Law suppressed his churning intestines and maintained the release of his En.
In contrast, Tonpa, who had staggered behind a tree to release his 'intestinal army', could no longer maintain his Nen Ability.
Expanding Nen in the form of a radar required, at the most basic level, stable mental concentration.
Clearly, Tonpa could not steady his mind right now.
"Could it be because of that sound?" Law looked at Biscuit, his eyes thoughtful.
Biscuit was also forcibly suppressing her intestinal movements.
She shook her head slightly, remaining vigilant at all times.
"You guys got hit too?" Kuro asked.
"Yes. You, come out," Law said.
Hearing this, Kuro materialized directly, floating in the air, a hint of mockery in his eyes as he looked at Law.
He was a Nen Beast. He could eat anything, raw or cold, without worrying about physical issues.
"You heard that crow's cry too, right? Go find it," Law shifted his gaze toward a certain direction in the thick fog.
Kuro shrugged, "How? The sound is like surround sound, and the fog is so thick."
"Carpet search," Law said calmly.
"Easier said than done," Kuro curled his lip but didn't waste any more words.
He directly turned into a wisp of black smoke, blending into the white fog as he headed into the distance.
Law watched Kuro leave. He didn't expect him to find the crow, but he was the most suitable for the task. On one hand, there was no need to worry about his safety… on the other hand, his search efficiency was the highest.
Watching Kuro disappear from view, Law turned to Biscuit and asked, "Any ideas?"
Biscuit hummed thoughtfully, "If it were Nen, you and I couldn't possibly fail to detect it. If it's related to that crow's cry, just the sound alone is unlikely to produce this effect. Leaving aside the body's reaction…"
Here, Biscuit paused, glanced at the ground, concentrated her Aura, and took two more steps forward. The sensation of a foreign object touched her ankle, and the sole of her foot slipped.
Biscuit's body tilted, but she easily righted herself, saying gravely, "There's clearly nothing there, but it feels like an invisible hand is forcibly tripping me. And also…"
Law picked up the thread, his voice low and serious: "You used Ken to increase your grip, but you still slipped inexplicably?"
"Exactly. That's the most outrageous part," Biscuit let out a breath. It was precisely these kinds of bizarre abilities that jumped outside the Nen System that made her feel the Dark Continent was incomprehensible.
"Caw, caw."
At that moment, the crow's mocking cry came again from all around the thick fog.
Tripping, slipping, and diarrhea.
Under normal circumstances, these would be ordinary, mundane things.
But deep within the sea of trees, with thick fog weather, it was no laughing matter.
Law looked up at a vast expanse of white.
There was no evidence to suggest this was all related to the crow's cry. But if possible, he really wanted to strangle that crow.
Unfortunately, the fog was too thick. Without being able to locate the sound, finding the crow would be very difficult.
"Let Kuro go look for it first," Law said.
Biscuit nodded and tried taking several more steps, attempting to get used to the feeling of tripping and slipping, hoping to discover something.
Law glanced toward Tonpa. The commotion hadn't stopped, so he ignored it and did the same thing as Biscuit.
He even tried walking in mid-air and actually triggered the tripping and slipping mechanism as well.
After several attempts, Law said helplessly, "This reminds me of a curse."
If he tripped or slipped while walking on the ground due to something, he could accept it.
But slipping while walking in mid-air was, as Biscuit said, utterly beyond reason.
Law's words reminded Biscuit. Her eyes flickered slightly as she pondered for a moment, then said, "There are many types of Nen, and among them is Curse-type Nen."
"Oh?" Law wasn't aware of this, "But this isn't Nen, right? Because neither of us detected any signs of Nen."
"Curse-type Nen basically has one common point: the target is completely unaware of how they were affected." Biscuit explained, "Usually, for a curse to take effect, it requires meeting at least two conditions. One relatively fixed condition is a Nen Beast."
"The stricter the conditions, the stronger the curse's concealment. But while concealment strengthens, the curse's effect correspondingly weakens. It's essentially 'rule-based play'… establishing conditions and rules to achieve the desired result, then completing and adhering to them."
"Of course, I'd prefer if this were just Curse-type Nen, and not some other unfathomable thing."
Biscuit sighed. If it were just an effect produced by Nen, as Nen Users, they could still find clues and even a solution.
If it wasn't Nen, that would be the most troublesome.
Law had no retort. Honestly, he had encountered many unfathomable beings on the Dark Continent.
Even now, he wasn't sure if Alluka's 'wish power' belonged to the Nen System.
So, assuming the negative effects they were currently suffering were a curse, it was still unlikely to be related to Nen.
"I can't take it anymore."
At that moment, Tonpa's weak voice came over.
Law and Biscuit looked toward the sound. Tonpa was leaning against the tree trunk, looking completely exhausted.
Even with improved physical fitness, violent diarrhea was a bit hard to handle.
Bruna slowly landed on Law's shoulder and asked curiously, "Law, what's wrong with you all?"
"It's nothing. Don't worry," Law couldn't explain clearly and only told Bruna not to overthink it.
Bruna found it strange and looked again at the pitiful Tonpa.
Here, it seemed only Bruna and Kuro were unaffected.
Tonpa walked over with difficulty. Seeing him so pitiful, Law used his Nen to clean off the filth on him.
"We've stayed here too long."
Law retracted his En, and Nen flowed over his body.
The flow of the thick fog was disturbed by many movements. Dozens of black shadows were approaching through the mist.
Biscuit noticed it too. She raised her head and looked toward the tree trunks.
The dozens of black shadows were leaping between the trunks, making no attempt to conceal themselves.
