Zephyr was waiting for Selene even before she made her way into his study. He had sensed her right before she came in, and he had wondered what was keeping her exactly.
But when she finally came in, he leaned back in his seat and let his eyes follow her as she walked toward him.
Selene could feel his intense dark eyes as they followed her in, and she could feel her heart beating so much faster than usual. The way it did whenever Zephyr was around.
Selene had been thinking that soon, she would get used to Zephyr's effect on her, but somehow it felt like it was getting stronger these days. It was not just that—it was the way he smelled, as if her senses were getting stronger, as if she could sense his presence when he was close to her.
It made things worse. She was just getting accustomed to his heavy dark eyes that made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, and to have to deal with his scent made her scared and aware.
