Chapter 18 - Even Gods Cannot Refuse the Foundation’s Summons

A god?

The moment this word appeared, the entire multiverse fell into an eerie silence.

Countless beings across the universes stared fixedly at the screen, wondering if they were hallucinating.

A god?

Summoned?

Then—

The chat group exploded.

"This is insane! Absolutely insane!"

"Dear God, they've summoned superhumans before, but now they're summoning a god?"

"No way—that's a deity! A higher existence completely beyond ordinary human lifeforms!"

"All I can say is, the SCP Foundation is insane!"

"Doesn't this mean this containment mission will be the easiest one yet?"

Marvel Universe – Kamar-Taj

The moment Dr. Kondraki's words landed, the Ancient One's eyes flashed with shock.

"A god? They actually summoned a god?"

What unsettled her wasn't just that gods existed in other universes—

But what this implied:

Even gods could not refuse the SCP Foundation's summons!

DC Universe – Justice League

After learning that the other summoned agent was a Star God, the Justice League members, while stunned, also breathed a sigh of relief.

"Gotta admit, Aquaman got lucky this time," the Flash said, unable to hide his envy. "Not every agent gets a god as their partner."

Cyborg turned off his instruments with a smile. "Data projection: Containment difficulty reduced by 90%. Hope this turns out to be a pleasant trip for him."

"Lucky guy."

For a moment, the room was filled with optimism.

Only Batman, standing in the corner, remained silent, his gaze dark.

If they were just dealing with an anomaly that was large in size and could alter thoughts and memories—

Then why summon a god?

A bad premonition rose in his heart.

Zhetian Universe

"Star God? Interesting."

The Heavenly Emperor Ye praised:

"I never imagined there were so many fascinating existences beyond our Three Thousand Worlds."

Unlike the shock and fear of beings from other universes,

The Heavenly Emperor felt only curiosity and excitement.

Having already achieved Immortal Ascension, he was now truly undying, the undisputed ruler of his universe.

The river of time could no longer leave its mark on him.

The pinnacle of immortality was loneliness, solitude, and endless seeking.

Now, the SCP Foundation had opened a door to the unknown for him.

With this thought,

His desire to visit the SCP Foundation's universe grew even stronger.

The Star God's Arrival

The appearance of the Star God sent the multiverse's audience into a strange excitement.

There was no doubt—

The previous two missions, whether in terms of containment difficulty or the terrifying power of the anomalies, had left an indelible mark on the viewers.

Now, seeing what seemed like a one-sidedly easy containment mission, how could they not be excited?

Finally,

Under the gaze of countless eyes,

The screen returned to the mission.

Dr. Kondraki seemed to be giving final instructions:

"Remember, this mission is an interaction experiment."

"Interaction experiment?"

Aquaman was surprised. "Shouldn't it be containment?"

Dr. Kondraki gave him a sidelong glance:

"Due to SCP-3000's enormous size and passive behavior, we don't need to enforce active containment measures."

"The containment zone currently spans a 300-kilometer diameter area in the Bay of Bengal, patrolled by Foundation naval vessels. All civilian deep-sea exploration or diving activities in the exclusion zone are strictly prohibited."

"Cool!" Aquaman couldn't help but whistle. "That makes our job way easier."

Dr. Kondraki smiled meaningfully. "Let's hope so."

"Your task is to deliver three samples to SCP-3000 and collect the viscous dark-gray secretions from its head, designated Y-909."

Aquaman nodded confidently, then noticed the Star God seemed to have vanished again.

"Hmm... Looks like I'll be handling this solo. My Star God buddy doesn't seem like the chatty type."

Rejecting the diving equipment offered by the technicians and glancing in the direction where Fuli the Star God had been,

Without another word, Aquaman dove into the sea, carrying the three samples.

Splash.

Hum~

"Huh?"

Aquaman turned and saw a strange energy fluctuation not far behind him.

Clearly,

The Star God Fuli had followed.

Aquaman grinned and increased his descent speed.

This wasn't disrespect toward the deity.

On the contrary—as the King of Atlantis, ruler of the Seven Seas, he had known since childhood that powerful gods existed in the cosmos.

But reverence did not mean fear,

Especially not in the ocean.

As he pondered, his body had already become like an arrow, moving so fast that it left afterimages in the water.

It was as if water pressure and resistance meant nothing to him.

However,

After descending about a thousand meters,

Aquaman suddenly stopped.

The excitement and eagerness on his face vanished,

Replaced by confusion

And a deep-seated unease in his eyes.

"Descent halted. Report status."

The voice in his earpiece snapped him back to reality.

He opened his mouth, lowered his voice, and was about to speak—

But when the words reached his lips, his expression blanked again.

"Uh... Sorry, no issues here. Just... I..."

After a long pause,

He forced a smile. "Just taking a break. By the way... what was I supposed to do again?"

The earpiece was silent for two seconds before responding sternly:

"Continue descent."

Perhaps dark clouds had blotted out the sun,

Because the already dim depths grew even darker.

The ocean, once his closest companion, now felt strangely unfamiliar.

Cold...

Dark...

Twisted...

Aquaman stared into the abyss below him,

As if staring into the maw of oblivion itself.

"This isn't right!"

He realized.

But soon,

Even that realization slipped away.

Meanwhile,

An indescribable fear began to spread across the multiverse.
