After their meetup, Georgina went home directly. She found her brother sitting in the living room, and to her disgust, his current girlfriend was with him. She pretended not to see them and went upstairs. Her brother excused himself and followed after her. Georgina had already predicted that he would follow her, so the minute he opened the door, he met with a strong blow to the nose, which bled immediately. He touched his nose and lamented, "What the hell did you beat me for?"
Georgina only turned her back on him and said, "You know your mistake very well; I don't need to repeat it out loud for you." She handed him a serviette to wipe his nose. He took it, feeling wronged, he said, " What mistake are you talking about? If it is about your engagement, your secret is still safe with me. I haven't told Mom and Dad yet." Georgina felt sorry for him, seeing his bleeding nose, she packed it for him and made him sit on the reading chair. She said while crying, "I am not talking about me, I am talking about my sister in law."
He loved his sister so much that upon seeing her crying, he came forward and hugged her. He consoled her by rubbing her back, still unaware, he said, " But you just passed us with your sister in law downstairs. You even assumed us, if these tears are for her, I concede." Georgina, on hearing his answer, pushed him away and wiped away her tears. She scolded, "Which sister in law? I did not see any sister in law downstairs." Georgia beamed and said, "Okay, change first, then I will introduce you two."
Once again, her anger rose to the top, and she shouted, "What's the need for an introduction? I am sure I know Havila's face. She is my friend. Did you forget that? If she is the one you are talking about, then all is well and good, if not...." Georgia stiffened upon hearing Havila's name. Even Clarinda, who was eavesdropping, clenched her fists tightly. She smirked as it was a good thing she recorded their banter. She now had a bargaining chip to blackmail and tame Georgina to support her relationship.
Georgia wanted to hug his crying sister, but she evaded the hug. He said softly, " Hey, hey, stop crying, alright. I didn't tell you because I thought you knew. I always assumed that you kept it a secret as I yours." Georgina, who loved her twin brother so much, stopped crying when she heard how pitiful he sounded. If it were her will, she would not like to choose between her brother and her best friend, as she did not want them to fight at all. Judging by Havila's character, she knew she had already let go of everything, and her brother was just like a stranger to her now.
She wasn't so sure about her friend's cousin, though; that woman was vicious. Georgina calmed down and said, " It's alright, Havila has already accepted everything and moved on. She is happily married now." Both Georgia and the eavesdropper were shocked. He felt pain in his heart and asked three questions at a go, "What? She's married? to who?" Georgina shook her head and replied, " I wish I could tell you, but I can't. It's her secret. I'm only assuring you to be at peace, as she won't ever bother you again. You are a stranger to her now. You know her; she is not the petty type. Just advise your current girlfriend not to provoke her, as you can't afford to do so."
This is what Georgia did not want. He still wanted them to be harmonious like before, share dinner, and laugh together as a family. But if the roles were reversed, could he afford to act the same? It is always easier if it is not you. He wished for them to be friends even if they were not lovers. He worried that Havila could even erase his face from her mind if she wanted. He panicked upon realizing this and said, " Siz, you know Clarinda loves her sister too much, please plead on our behalf for her to forgive us. We are still family; in fact, we can return everything we took from her."
It was too late for him to retract his words as Georgina had already shouted, "What, what did you take from her?" He tried to cover up and said, while evading her eyes, " Nothing, just the things she gifted us. The apartment and the car. Tell her we can give them back for her forgiveness." He did not want to tell his sister about the properties left by Havila's parents yet. It seems she also did not tell them the whole truth. That's how good-hearted she was. Too bad he fell in love with the timid Clarinda, but he did not regret it.
Clarinda bore a slight resemblance to her cousin, so he felt he did not lose out. He only hoped that Havila would talk to them. He knew it was too much of him to ask, though, after deceiving her for all these years. Georgia was shocked further by Georgina's mild reaction, as he knew Havila did not tell them anything about transferring properties. He asked, " Why are you not surprised that she gifted us those properties?" She laughed heartily and replied, " Ah, brother, brother, I thought you knew Havila well enough even if you were just playing house with her."
She was cut short by a question before she finished her statement. He asked, "What do you mean?" She sat down leisurely and said, " Havila never takes anything for free, let alone things she tagged undeserved, for example, the car and apartment. Didn't you realize she doesn't like driving that car? She would only take a ride in it if someone else were driving. She never even stayed at the apartment; our friend Lency was the one who occupied it. In fact, she is now accommodated at the hotel as the apartment is no longer in Havila's name."
She took a deep breath and continued, "Havi influenced all of us; in fact, she is my role model. Too bad she is no longer my sister in law, but at least she is still my best friend." She then answered the question he asked, "I am not surprised because she already told us five years ago. It is we who kept her from gifting you those things. We thought you guys were not genuine enough; we never thought our predictions would hit the bull's eye."
