Watching Li Xiang's back gradually disappear, Azula finally said, "Mai, Ty Lee—keep an eye on him. If anything seems off, report to me immediately."
"No problem, leave it to us!"
Mai and Ty Lee stepped out from the shadows of the two pillars.
Ty Lee replied cheerfully, while Mai asked, "If he shows signs of betraying us, what do we do?"
"Kill him directly—"
Azula paused, then shrugged. "As much as I'd like to say that, just restrain him for now. I don't want to cause a commotion at this stage."
Mai nodded. "Understood."
Since agreeing to join Azula's plan, Mai and Ty Lee had become her most reliable assistants—not just because they were loyal and bold, but because their skills were exceptional.
Both were agile and excelled at stealth. Mai's knives were deadly accurate, and Ty Lee's Chi Blocking was unbeatable at close range.
One handled distance, the other excelled up close; very few people could survive their coordinated ambushes.
"But honestly," Ty Lee said, holding her chin thoughtfully, "is he really worth recruiting? He just feels like an incompetent general."
Azula replied casually, "The man is useless, but the position of general isn't. The authority he holds is very real. Forget it—you wouldn't understand. Just do as I say."
"Oh…"
Ty Lee nodded, a little wronged. She muttered, "I mean, I can understand. I just react a little slower."
She wasn't stupid—just took a moment to process things! Once Azula explained it, she understood immediately.
"Yes, yes, you're the smartest," Azula said, completely perfunctory.
Right then, Azula suddenly froze, her brows tightening before instantly relaxing.
A small smile crept onto her face. Ignoring both of them, she spun around and bolted toward the palace.
Her abrupt change made Ty Lee blink. "What's wrong with her?"
Mai thought for a moment. Then it clicked. "Kahn must have returned."
Only two people could affect Azula's emotions so noticeably: Kahn and Ursa. And the only person who could be back at this hour was Kahn.
But what puzzled Mai was that Azula's reaction wasn't just happiness—it looked suspiciously like… panic?
She must have been mistaken.
Ty Lee's eyes sparkled. "Kahn is back?! That's great—let's go too!"
"Wait."
Mai immediately grabbed her, her expression darkening.
Only an idiot would interrupt Azula and Kahn during a reunion.
She dragged Ty Lee away. "We still have a mission."
"Ehh? Do we really have to hurry? Can't we just say hello to Kahn first?"
"Yes, we have to! Move!"

Azula rushed back to her bedchamber. She stopped at the door, straightened her clothes, composed her expression, then stepped inside.
No one dared enter her private chambers—not even Ozai. He might be a pervert, but even he wasn't that kind of pervert.
But there was one exception.
A bold scoundrel who walked in and out of her boudoir freely.
"Yo. Long time no see."
Azula opened the door to find Kahn lounging on her bed as if it belonged to him, waving with the calmness of someone entirely too comfortable.
She didn't mind.
After closing the door, she leaned back against it, crossing her arms. "Back so soon? So—what's the situation?"
"So soon?" Kahn blinked.
In his experience, Azula's patience was mediocre at best, and she usually called him "too slow." It was rare to hear her say he moved quickly.
He brushed aside the thought and sat up. "Uncle Iroh's preparations are almost complete."
The external support forces included Iroh, several master-level fighters, and a few dozen elite members of the White Lotus.
That was the maximum they could gather without drawing attention.
They were small compared to the city's defenders, but raw numbers weren't the point.
With King Bumi and the other masters involved, their combat power was more than enough.
Outside the direct strike team, covert agents were scattered across the Fire Nation.
People like Lidon—captured by Kahn and Azula and sent to the mines—and White Lotus members throughout the country were ready to respond to chaos and carry out secondary objectives.
Zuko—operating under his Fire Nation name Zu Kou—was responsible for infiltrating the city, organizing the White Lotus members within it, and coordinating with Iroh's group or adapting to the situation.
Once they secured the capital, Ursa would step in to give everything legal legitimacy.
And the final, critical task fell to Kahn and Azula: eliminate Ozai.
After explaining everything, Kahn added, "The biggest issue now is choosing the exact time. That part is up to you."
Azula, Ozai's right hand, knew his habits better than anyone. Only she could pinpoint the best moment to strike.
"I see… things have really reached this point…"
She sighed softly, then rested her chin on her hand, thinking deeply.
After several seconds, she looked up, eyes firm.
"Seven days. We strike seven days from now—at sunset."
"Good."
Kahn agreed instantly. No questioning. No hesitation.
What should've been a tense, top-secret operation felt almost casual between them—like choosing where to eat—because for them, this wasn't a choice. It was an inevitability.
After settling the timing, Kahn left. Her chambers were safe, but it was best to avoid unnecessary risks.
When he was gone, Azula turned toward Ozai's palace in the distance and whispered.
"So only six days left… Looks like I need to hurry."
