Chapter 115 - Chapter 112 - Battle of Kyoto (III)

Kazuya casually raised his hand, as if he were merely swatting an insect.

"I don't like those who arrogantly stand above me."

The sky lit up.

A gigantic palm made of golden lightning formed in the firmament, so vast it seemed to crush the very clouds. The air vibrated, crackling like thousands of celestial drums, and then descended with divine brutality.

Booooooom!

The impact was deafening. The palm struck the group of Super Demons hovering above, smashing them against the mountain range in the background. The explosion was so intense that the entire mountain shattered into fragments, rocks and dust hurled into the air as if they were mere sparks.

The dust from the debris rose in columns that seemed to scrape the sky. Amid the chaos of falling rocks and the distant echo of the collapsing mountain range, something stirred.

A silhouette broke through the wreckage, its black wings unfurling in unison. The air trembled with the heavy beating, as if each movement could crush the very atmosphere.

It advanced.

There was no warning, no roar. Just an explosion of speed. Its body shot through the air like an arrow of pure darkness, as fast as light, aiming straight for Kazuya and the Servants positioned on the hill.

"Come any closer, and I'll cut you in half!"

Mordred lunged forward with Clarent already raised, her eyes sparkling with excitement. The air around the blade began to glow, and a blazing magical aura of deep red exploded around her.

"CLARENT BLOOD ARTHUR!"

The ground split beneath her feet the moment she unleashed all the energy contained in the sword.

A colossal pillar of crimson magical energy descended from the sky like an inverted divine blade, completely engulfing the Super Demon in mid-flight. The impact was so violent that the entire earth trembled, cracks spreading through the valley like veins in a stone about to shatter.

The wave of destruction swept across kilometers around, carving a gigantic gash that split the valley in half. The air incandesced, and for a few seconds, there was only red light, dust, and the deafening sound of the magical explosion reverberating through the mountains.

When the energy finally dissipated, silence hung for a moment.

A black flash broke through the ashes.

The colossal wings unfurled, intact, tearing through the smoke. The Super Demon emerged from the red inferno without so much as a visible scratch.

Its crimson eyes gleamed, fixed on Mordred, and a deafening roar erupted from the depths of its throat. The air around it distorted, the very space creaking like glass under pressure.

"What the hell…" Mordred's eyes widened, her lips curving into a ferocious grin. "You withstood *that*?!"

She spun Clarent over her shoulders, her body vibrating with excitement. "Heh, even better. A real target! Leave this one to me, Master!"

Kazuya observed in silence for a moment, his serene eyes fixed on the colossal monster roaring against Mordred. Then, he merely nodded slightly.

"Don't lose."

The knight's grin widened even further, fierce and bloodthirsty.

"Hah! Leave it to me, Master!"

Before the two could even engage in battle, two more Super Demons emerged from the rubble and charged. Their black wings beat in unison, the air tearing as if sliced by invisible blades.

Nero was the first to step forward, spinning her golden sword in a wide arc. Her red cape flared behind her like the curtain of a stage.

"Excellent! Fate has prepared me for this moment!" she declared with a triumphant gleam in her eyes. "Let the universe witness the glory of Empress Nero Claudius!"

The Super Demon before her descended like a living avalanche, its claws larger than carriages attempting to crush her in one blow. Nero spun on her axis, her blade tracing golden lines in the air, and raised her voice in a theatrical cry:

"Here we go!"

A golden blaze covered in roses exploded like fireworks, her blade multiplying into countless reflections, each striking the monster's body. The claws clashed against her sword with a boom, but Nero laughed, her eyes alight with the ecstasy of battle.

"Magnificent! An enemy worthy of being crushed by my eternal brilliance!"

Meanwhile, on the other side, Quetzalcoatl advanced with firm steps, each impact of her feet cracking the earth under the weight of her divine strength. Her eyes sparkled with excitement.

"¡Cielito! This big guy's mine!"

The Super Demon beat its wings, spewing a torrent of black flames that would have engulfed kilometers of forest. Quetzalcoatl raised her arms and flashed a radiant smile.

"¡LUCHA LIBRE DIVINA!"

She spun through the air like a wrestler at her peak, her entire body glowing with golden light, and in a flash, she wrapped her legs around the monster's neck. The fall was brutal, the impact shattering the ground into craters and making the earth tremble as if a meteor had struck.

Obviously, the three weren't the only ones to survive Kazuya's earlier attack. Almost immediately after the first three emerged from the rubble, another followed, engulfed in black flames that devoured the air around it. Its wings shimmered like shadowy veils, and its eyes, red as embers, gleamed with cruel disdain.

The Demonic being raised its hands, and its flesh seemed to writhe grotesquely. From its skin, dark figures began to project, tearing free like living parasites. In seconds, dozens of identical clones launched into the sky, flying toward the distant city.

"This plague again…" Jalter narrowed her eyes, her expression twisting between fury and coldness. Her banner appeared in flames in her hand, the fabric rippling like an omen of calamity. "I won't let you filth taint *my* destruction! If anyone's going to burn that city, it'll be me!"

She raised the banner high, and a colossal blaze of fire erupted, covering the sky with a profane aurora.

The flames engulfed the swarm of clones, consuming them in a purifying inferno that spared neither friend nor foe, only destroyed. The sky darkened further, as if night itself had descended.

Meanwhile, Salter was already advancing across the ground, her black Excalibur dragging against the rocks, leaving a trail of purple energy.

"Pathetic. They can't even die properly."

She raised the sword with one arm, her icy, disdainful voice echoing like a verdict.

"EXCALIBUR MORGAN!"

A slash of pure darkness swept across the horizon, cutting through the body of the true Super Demon hovering before her. The magical wave tore the entire mountain behind it as if it were made of paper, hurling tons of rock into the air.

But when the dust settled, the enemy was still there, completely intact.

Jalter turned her head to Kazuya with a scowl.

"Hey, Master… this creep is ours." She spun her banner and pointed directly at the true Super Demon, which continued to spawn clones relentlessly. "Don't you dare touch it, got it? I want to see its face twist when I burn it to ash!"

Salter stepped beside her, Excalibur Morgan gleaming with that dark purple glow, every inch of the blade pulsing with condensed hatred. Her golden eyes sized Kazuya up and down, cold and imperial.

"Stay still and watch, Master." Her voice sounded like cracking ice. "This trash is our delight. Don't interfere."

"Sure, sure… Have at it!" Kazuya said casually, glancing at the two as they quickly engaged the Super Demons.

At that moment, from the dust and rubble of his earlier attack, another adversary emerged.

It was slimmer than the others, but the air around it distorted as if invisible blades were slicing through space itself. Strapped to its back was a curved black saber; in its hands, two katanas made of petrified bone.

Its eyes glinted with a murderous shine.

A Super Demon Swordsman.

It didn't roar or charge like the others. It merely raised one blade in a silent salute, a gesture of pure disdain but also of challenge.

"Hohoho…" Musashi laughed softly, adjusting the dual sheaths at her waist. Her blue eyes sparkled, as if all the slaughter around her had vanished, leaving only this enemy before her.

"A duelist, huh? I was getting bored just watching my friends play with these monstrosities." She took a deep breath, sliding her fingers over the hilts of her two katanas. "Alright, big guy… I'll be your dance partner today."

Kazuya sighed as his Servant immediately darted toward the Super Demon.

A few moments passed, and no more Super Demons emerged.

As for the rest? Well, he took them to another [Pocket Dimension] to deal with them alone.

The reason for letting his Servants fight in this war, which he could end single-handedly, wasn't just about not underestimating his enemies or being too lazy to deal with them all. It was also to test the [Mythological Mystic Code] he had unlocked in each of his Servants. Although some of them didn't even need it to defeat all the Super Demons and Rezevim…

He only unlocked this 'power' in his Servants to be certain.

It would be like crushing an ant with an atomic bomb…

… But it would be interesting.

Oh, but these Super Demons have the ability to destroy the world! An army of them could conquer countless worlds!

Well, they'd be nothing in the world he and his Servants came from.

In a particular timeline, around 14,000 years before the 21st century AD, in the world of *Fate/Extra*, there was a cycle on the planet that was halted by an event of catastrophic proportions. Velber 02, also known as The Umbral Star, a predatory construct created by an unknown alien race with the purpose of seeking out, destroying any intelligent life, and absorbing any form of data, had entered the Solar System. Upon finding life on Earth, it automatically initiated an invasion protocol. The Moon Cell, a system of unknown origin made of photonic crystals and acting as a supercomputer located on the Moon, was immediately attacked by Velber. Velber sent a construct called the "Arc of Stars" containing Sefar, the White Titan, as an Anti-Cell to the Moon Cell and managed to absorb 80% of the system's data.

At the same time, Sefar used its own data to attack Earth with a gigantic Avatar. This Avatar, besides being enormous, was immensely powerful, capable of destroying even gods. With each target destroyed, Velber absorbed the enemy's data and grew exponentially in size and power. With this, Velber brought humanity to the brink of extinction and destroyed several pantheons of gods.

The White Titan on Earth, after this, became nearly unstoppable, surpassing the strength of an Ultimate One (Type). However, in a critical moment amid the chaos the world was in, a light of hope appeared in the form of a Holy Sword. Excalibur, wielded by an unknown individual—speculated to be King Arthur as a Grand Servant—delivered a powerful attack against Velber. As the sword's seal was lifted, which normally restricts the blade from using much of its power against enemies that aren't a threat to the world, the attack was lethal, and the White Titan was destroyed. In the Moon Cell, the computer managed to defeat Sefar and sealed her in a lost area of the Moon Cell known as the Star of Tears, as the Moon Cell had no way to destroy her. Thus, Velber's invasion was thwarted, though it cost much of human civilization on the planet.

However, the White Titan's Avatar was not completely destroyed, and a part of it fell to the planet, becoming a reduced form. In the wreckage of Velber on Earth resided the body of the Titan's more human-like form, which thousands of years later was found by the Huns. Thus, Altera, also known as Attila the Hun, the conqueror known for years as the Scourge of God, who brought divine punishment to civilizations, was born. While alive, Attila, in a way, still followed her programming as a machine of destruction, but this time guided by the purpose of the Huns. She carried Photon Ray, a divine construct she obtained after defeating Mars, or Ares, the God of War, as a Titan. The Titan sealed on the Moon saw her human form's life as dreams.

In the world of *Stay Night* and similar ones, as the Moon Cell doesn't exist, the invasion happened the same way, but Sefar did not invade the Moon, existing only as the White Titan that invaded the planet.

Within the Moon Cell, it is possible to unlock a Servant's Origin, granting them power comparable to BB's Ten Crowns.

This phenomenon is called the Mythological Mystic Code.

The [Ten Crowns] represent the beginning of human history, the dawn of civilization and light. In other words, they are the power of the Origin that gave rise to the human genome, something present in all humans. By penetrating the virtual body and mind of a Servant, it is possible for the Master to directly access the core of the Heroic Spirit. Thus, the Root is reached, unleashing the Mythological Mystic Code: the deepest origin of the hero, often unknown even to themselves. The zero point that gave rise to their existence.

By removing this limiter, the Servant achieves a degree of "fundamental truth" equivalent to that of BB, who was an almost omnipotent entity in the Moon Cell, able to elevate their spiritual rank at will. With this power, it was stated in the original story that Hakuno's Servants—be it Nero Claudius, No Name, Tamamo-no-Mae, or Gilgamesh, depending on the player's choice—had a 0.9999% chance of victory against BB. To further increase those odds, it's worth noting that in the original game's story, Rin Tohsaka redirected all the power that previously protected the school building against BB and the Alter Egos, transferring those resources to strengthen Hakuno and their Servants. Thus, when they faced BB, they were elevated to the same level of power as her, making it possible to defeat her by severing her connection to the Moon Cell before she could unleash her Noble Phantasm.

The only four Servants who have awakened this form became capable of moving faster than light. This was demonstrated when Kiara Sessyoin launched them to the edge of the galaxy, from where they returned instantly. Though this feat surprised her, Kiara's defeat was only possible because the Alter Egos, BB, and Sakura within her prevented her from using her "omnipotence" to protect Hakuno, whom she loved. She herself stated that if she had been aware of this weakness, she would have simply launched the Servants to some distant realm and then destroyed that realm along with them.

However, the Mythological Mystic Code places an immense burden on the Servant. Sakura explains that the basic structure of a Heroic Spirit is not capable of withstanding such power, asking Hakuno Kishinami to limit its use to only once.

Later, when discussing how to free Altera from the shackles of the Umbral Star, Nero assessed that this power would be enough to face Velber, though she feared her Cyber Frame wouldn't withstand the strain for long. Still, considering they also possessed the Royal Authority of the Regalia, Nero believed they could perform miracles. Even so, Hakuno doubted its effectiveness: the Mythological Mystic Code is merely the manifestation of a Hero's Origin, while Altera's strength is sustained by the Umbral Star, a completely different level of power. To face her, something on the same scale would be needed.

Even combining the power of the Royal Authority and Saber's maximum potential with the Mythological Mystic Code, the formats of the Moon Cell and the Umbral Star are too distinct. Hakuno concluded that this solution wouldn't address the root of the problem. Since all the Servants' power ultimately derives from the Moon's Holy Grail, the most they could achieve would be the destruction of Sefar, and even then, with no guarantee of success.

In non-"Nasuverse jargon" terms, each of these demons was an ant to any Servant using this power, even if those demons are capable of destroying the world… What did that change…? He doubted any being in this world could even avoid shitting themselves in fear before Velber…

Kazuya shifted his gaze from the battlefield and turned to the oni, slightly lifting his chin.

"Shuten, support the girls if they need it. And keep Yasaka safe…"

A lascivious smile spread across the oni's lips as she swayed her sake gourd, her voice honeyed and drawling.

"Ufufufu… understood, Anata~ If any of those sweeties cry for help, I'll be there. And as for the kitsune lady…" She cast a sidelong glance at Yasaka: "…I'll protect her. Leave it to me."

Kazuya nodded and said:

"I'll handle the rest, as we agreed."

And then, without ceremony, he took a step forward.

The space around him shattered like glass under pressure. Fragments of reality broke into glowing lines, and amidst them, an absolute void opened. He quickly stepped in and vanished from "Kyoto Battlefield No. 1," heading to "No. 2."
