After Latias completed Psycho Shift, Venusaur's Leaf Blade was already closing in fast!

Latias struck like a falcon, her full-body tackle from Fly connecting with precision and force, sending Venusaur staggering.
Venusaur let out a low growl of pain. Having been hit by two super-effective Flying-type attacks in quick succession, even his sturdy post-MEGA Evolution defense couldn't hold up for long.
"Venusaur! Hang on and use Grass Knot!"
Master Lin was setting up a countermeasure, hoping to use the move's weight-dependent trip effect to catch Latias off guard.
Thick grass and vines surged from the battlefield floor—quickly manipulated by Venusaur's energy and they lashed out at Latias, who was now hovering at low altitude.
"Latias, dodge it quickly!"
Chen Xiaoxiao tried to order an immediate evasion, but the Gym battlefield was already thick with plant growth, a terrain that Venusaur based on earlier matches had subtly been preparing throughout the fight.
Before Latias could gain height again, the vines entangled her wings and body, grounding her.
"Venusaur, now! Use Sludge Bomb again!"
Master Lin's eyes flashed with a trace of hope. Several more toxic globes formed and blasted toward the bound Latias!
"Latias, use Steel Wing, now!"
Chen Xiaoxiao's voice was sharp, unwavering.
Latias's sleek wings shimmered into a gleaming silver as she slashed through the vines with a powerful cross-wing strike. The sharp wings cut her free in an instant and then collided head-on with the incoming Sludge Bombs!
BOOM!!
A massive explosion of smoke and energy lit up the battlefield.
"Latias, now Psychic!"
As the dust from the blast still hung in the air, Chen Xiaoxiao saw her opening.
Latias's body glowed blue, and an overwhelming wave of psychic energy surged from her in a focused mental blast, pushing through the smoke like a pulse of light.
"Venusaur, evade!"
But Master Lin's command came too late.
BOOM!
The powerful Psychic tore through the haze and struck Venusaur head-on. The mighty Pokémon let out a guttural roar, then collapsed.
"Venusaur is unable to battle Latias wins!"
The referee raised a flag, his voice echoing through the stunned gymnasium.
"Whoa! That's a Legendary Pokémon for you Latias is a beast!"
"Elegant and terrifying at the same time!"
"Even MEGA Venusaur couldn't handle it!"
"LATIAS, I LOVE YOU!"
The crowd exploded into cheers and praise.
Master Lin shook his head with a light chuckle and returned Venusaur to its Poké Ball.
"As expected, I was still outplayed. Come back and rest, partner."
He handed Venusaur to the staff for emergency healing.
"Thank you, Latias come back for now. Time to let others shine,"
Chen Xiaoxiao said, returning her Latias to the ball.
Lin had previously declared Kartana to be his strongest, with MEGA Venusaur following behind. But it was implied that his statement didn't factor in the MEGA Evolution boost. Now that both had fallen, keeping Latias in the match would be overkill.
Even Lin, watching Chen recall Latias voluntarily, let out a soft breath of relief. Any of his remaining Pokémon wouldn't have lasted more than a turn against her.
"Trainers, send out your next Pokémon!"
The referee called once more.
"Go, Togekiss!"
Chen Xiaoxiao shouted, tossing another Poké Ball.
"Let's go, Leafeon!"
Master Lin responded.

"Ugh... Togekiss again,"
Master Lin muttered with a mild headache.
"Togekiss vs. Leafeon! Battle, begin!"
"Togekiss, Air Slash!"
Immediately, a scythe of compressed air formed before Togekiss and shot toward Leafeon.
With its Serene Grace ability, Togekiss's Air Slash had a doubled flinch chance more than 60%! And against Grass-types like Leafeon, it was doubly effective.
"Leafeon, dodge and use Hyper Voice!"
Leafeon dashed aside gracefully, barely dodging the slicing wind, which struck the ground and exploded on impact. Then, Leafeon opened its mouth and let out a piercing cry a full-powered Hyper Voice attack.
"Togekiss, use Protect!"
A green light barrier formed instantly in front of Togekiss, absorbing the incoming sonic blast with a thunderous reverberation.
"Leafeon, follow up with Quick Attack!"
In a flash of motion, Leafeon blurred forward like a streak of green lightning, slamming into Togekiss with a light strike. It wasn't powerful, but now Leafeon was up close.
"Leafeon, use Iron Tail!"
Master Lin was playing smart using Iron Tail, a Steel-type move, super effective against Togekiss's Fairy typing.
Leafeon's tail glowed with metallic energy as it twisted mid-air and brought it down hard on Togekiss.
"Togekiss, use Flamethrower!"
Chen Xiaoxiao clenched her teeth. If Togekiss took Iron Tail, she was going to make it count.
Even as Iron Tail struck Togekiss, causing it to cry out in pain and falter mid-air, a stream of blazing flames erupted from its mouth!
BOOM!
The Flamethrower struck Leafeon at point-blank range!
Grass-types were already weak to Fire-type moves. But with Scope Lens and Togekiss's Super Luck ability active, the attack had an increased critical-hit ratio!
Direct hit critical damage!
Leafeon, whose base Special Defense was already low, stood no chance. Flames engulfed its slim frame, and when they cleared, it was lying fainted on the battlefield, fur blackened and eyes swirling.
"Leafeon is unable to battle Togekiss wins!"
The referee raised his flag again.
