Josh stared at Marlon for a long second before finally letting out a sigh and meeting his sharp, suspicious gaze. "It was really just a coincidence," he said, his tone a mixture of exhaustion and defense. "I didn't even know Axel was here in the hospital. I know what I'm about to say is going to sound ridiculous to you, but hear me out."
Marlon raised an eyebrow, clearly ready for whatever it is that Josh is planning of saying.
Josh rubbed the back of his neck and continued, "Earlier today, I was cooking dinner. My knife slipped from my hand, so I bent down to pick it up, but in the process, I must've hit the frying pan handle. The whole pan—oil, food, everything—flipped and landed right on my back."
Marlon blinked, unimpressed and thought that Josh is joking and trying to lie to him.
