Chapter 284 - Chapter 284: Suppression

"Boom!"

Just as many attacks were about to reach Groudon, the colossal Pokémon suddenly raised a massive hand, and a wall of rock instantly shot up, blocking its front.

The incoming attacks struck the rock wall, shattering it, but they failed to inflict significant damage on the Groudon shielded behind it.

Taking advantage of the brief reprieve, Groudon suddenly lifted its head toward the sky. The blazing sun and pouring rain converged, and Groudon was currently controlling that fierce, scorching sun.

Groudon lowered its head, looked at the Water-type attacks hurtling towards it again, and instantly opened its mouth, launching a Solar Beam.

Carrying intense heat, the Solar Beam swept through with destructive force, instantly consuming the Water-type attacks. Following through, it heavily struck the water's surface.

"Crash!"

The powerful impact caused the entire water surface to explode. However, Wallace (Mikuri) had already anticipated this and instructed his Water-type Pokémon to dodge.

As a result, the attack caused little significant damage to Wallace and his Pokémon.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!..."

But just then, Groudon abruptly raised a hand, and sharp Spikes of rock burst forth from the sea, gradually encircling Wallace and his Water-type Pokémon with Groudon at the center.

Wallace looked around at the ring of Spikes that trapped them and was momentarily baffled by Groudon's intention.

At this moment, Groudon revealed a savage grin, sharply stomping on the newly formed ground beneath its feet. Instantly, an intense heat erupted from its body!

"Oh no!"

Wallace's eyes widened. He finally understood Groudon's plan.

It wanted to turn this entire sea area into land!

The seawater began to heat up. Sealed by the Spikes, the temperature was contained as much as possible within this zone.

The Pokémon that had been in the water felt the gradually scorching seawater around them, and their eyes filled with panic.

"Blizzard!"

The numerous Water-type Pokémon simultaneously exerted their power. A Blizzard was unleashed, with cold winds and snowflakes struggling to counteract Groudon's immense heat.

"Roar!"

Groudon roared furiously, stomping down hard on the ground. In that instant, as if the sky were collapsing and the earth splitting, the entire sea surface began to shake violently.

The water surface violently sloshed as if it were in a vigorously shaken cup. Surging giant waves slammed the Water-type Pokémon, scattering them. The once-organized formation developed cracks.

"Dodge!"

The next moment, Groudon opened its mouth, and a Solar Beam swept across the area. The Water-type Pokémon that hadn't stabilized their bodies had no way to evade.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!..."

The Solar Beam engulfed the Water-type Pokémon. The high-temperature energy plunged into the seawater, triggering a fierce explosion.

The scattered formation was now completely broken up by the blasts.

"Roar!"

Another roar sounded. The entire sea surface shook violently, and the seawater began to spread out. To Wallace's shock, land rose up from beneath the sea. Their advantageous terrain was instantly turned into a battleground utterly unsuited for them.

"This is a primal Pokémon..."

Wallace gritted his teeth, staring intently at the frenzied Maxie perched atop Groudon's head.

In Wallace's view, Groudon's sudden change in combat style must have been the result of Maxie's meddling. Otherwise, how could the change be so drastic?

Therefore, Maxie was absolutely taking the blame for this.

Ace, who was psychically controlling Groudon, thought to himself, while considering the next course of action.

"First, eliminate Wallace from the game,"

Ace mused. "Unnecessary personnel should exit the stage for their own safety."

Thinking this, Ace directed Groudon to act.

Groudon stomped the ground hard. A fierce Earthquake spread out. Several Walrein instantly sprang up, curling into ice balls, and charged towards Groudon.

"Clang!"

Groudon swung a claw, easily swatting the ice balls aside.

Its large size was Groudon's flaw, but it was also its advantage.

While its massive size limited its agility, Groudon's sheer power was unmatched by ordinary Pokémon.

The Walrein's ice balls were nothing more than a simple swipe to Groudon.

"Hydro Pump!"

The remaining Water-type Pokémon gathered together again. They focused their firepower one more time, and a concentrated Hydro Pump blasted towards Groudon.

Groudon abruptly opened its mouth and spewed a Flamethrower. The two attacks met mid-air. The remaining Water-type Pokémon were no longer a match for Groudon; the Hydro Pump was overwhelmed by the flames, and the fire rapidly shot toward the Water-type Pokémon.

"Dragon Pulse!"

Winona'sAltaria suddenly opened its mouth, launching a Dragon Pulse toward Maxie on Groudon's head.

Maxie abruptly raised his hand, and an energy ball of condensed energy shot out toward the Dragon Pulse, directly shattering Altaria's attack.

"He's truly difficult to deal with."

Wallace, flying in the air, frowned as he looked at the completely scorched Pokémon below, sighing in pain.

Having dealt with the Pokémon below, Groudon suddenly lifted its head and looked at Wallace.

In an instant, Wallace felt a wave of crisis engulf his entire body. Instinctively, Altaria carried Wallace to rapidly gain altitude, attempting to escape the battlefield as much as possible.

But it was too late. Groudon abruptly opened its mouth, and a Solar Beam shot toward Altaria and Wallace high above.

"Pugh!"

Wallace felt as if his entire body had been violently struck by a scorching giant hammer. He was thrown backward, and a mouthful of blood sprayed into the air as he was flung away.

"Wallace!"

Seeing Wallace and Altaria being thrown back, Winona could no longer hold back. She threw three Poké Balls, then, riding her Skarmory and accompanied by Beautifly and Masquerain, she flew into the battle.

Skarmory was extremely fast. Just as Wallace was about to plunge into the sea, Winona caught him.

"It's... quite nice to be in your arms,"

Wallace said weakly, offering a faint smile, before passing out.

Wallace's sudden collapse startled Winona, but after checking him and finding that he was merely unconscious and hadn't sustained any severe injuries, she breathed a sigh of relief.

With Wallace subdued, the ring of Spikes broke apart, and Groudon charged out, heading toward Kyogre, which was currently battling the Tao Dragon.

Winona grit her teeth, but ultimately chose to first bring the unconscious Wallace and Altaria to Ruby and Sapphire, asking them to look after him.

Immediately afterward, Winona turned back and charged toward Groudon.

"Master..."

Sapphire watched Winona charge out, wanting to speak but unable to stop her.

"Ring-ring-ring..."

Just then, the communication device on Wallace's person rang. Ruby did not hesitate and immediately answered the call.

"Wallace, we're rushing to Sootopolis City. You must stop Groudon and Kyogre until we arrive!"

A man's voice came through the communication device. Ruby paused, then said gravely: "Mr. Steven, please hurry. Master has been defeated. Now, Big Brother Ace and Ms. Winona are holding off Groudon and Kyogre."
