Chapter 124 - Chapter 126 Victory

In truth, the Chitauri mothership wasn't far from the portal—only about 10 kilometers away. So it took Clark only a moment to reach the colossal vessel.

Judging by its sheer size, Clark guessed that this was probably Thanos' Sanctuary I—a ship the size of a small city.

"That should be close enough."Clark looked up at Sanctuary I and roughly estimated that he was within the blast radius needed to destroy the ship if he detonated his energy suit.

He closed his eyes and connected with the suit.

Then he detonated it.

In an instant, a blinding light burst from his body—not just bright, but terrifying. Everything it touched vanished—as if erased from reality itself.

Because Sanctuary I was so close to the portal, people on Earth witnessed something miraculous. As rumors of gods appearing spread, a beam of golden light shot from the sky, piercing the heavens above Manhattan.

Some superstitious onlookers even dropped to their knees, praying toward the light.

But before they could do anything, the Avengers on the battlefield noticed something strange—the Chitauri soldiers all stopped moving.

They collapsed like puppets with cut strings.

"He did it!"Tony, hovering mid-air, stared in awe as the Chitauri soldiers that had been chasing him all dropped from the sky like broken drones.

He looked toward the portal… and saw Clark walking calmly back through it.

Clark had destroyed the mothership—and the central brain that controlled the Chitauri.

Just like in the movies, the moment that brain was destroyed, the army went still. They weren't truly alive without that central command.

In Avengers 3, Thanos never used the Chitauri again—he relied on his other army, the Outriders.

Clark quickly examined the remains of the Chitauri near the portal and then flew back to Earth.

"See? I didn't lie."Loki smiled as Clark landed atop Stark Tower.

But while he smiled, Loki's heart was filled with dread.

Clark had just single-handedly wiped out one of Thanos' two great armies—a force that had ruled the galaxy for centuries.

Loki's original plan was never to help the Avengers. He thought that by reopening the portal, he could overwhelm them with more Chitauri forces and still win.

But now?

The Chitauri were dead. Clark had returned without a scratch.

Loki realized… he had lost.

Clark didn't respond to Loki's smug tone. He just smiled faintly. He knew Loki.

From Thor 1 to Infinity War, Loki almost never told the full truth. He always mixed lies with half-truths. The core was always false.

Clark didn't believe for a second that Loki genuinely wanted to help.

But Clark had confidence—confidence from knowing the future and confidence in his own strength. That's the only reason he'd risked reopening the portal.

Had he not been sure he could end this quickly, he would've preferred spending weeks clearing the city building by building rather than giving the enemy another entrance.

But now it was over.

The Avengers had won. The battle was done.

And Clark, too, had proven himself.

Of course, Manhattan was in ruins. Buildings were on the verge of collapse, and the city would need a full rebuild.

But that wasn't Clark's concern right now—there was still one thing to do:

The portal above Stark Tower was still open.

He looked up at the glowing machinery suspended in the sky. Reaching out, Clark once again focused his energy.

After a moment, he plunged his hand into the energy field.

With a surge of power, he pulled the Tesseract free from the device.

The portal immediately snapped shut.

"Looks like everyone in New York is getting an unexpected holiday tomorrow."Tony joked as Clark returned with the Tesseract in one hand and Loki in the other.

As Clark walked toward the others, Tony turned and addressed the team:

"Anyone feel like shawarma? There's this Turkish place two blocks from here I've always wanted to try. I'm buying. What do you say?"

"I'm in. I'm starving."To everyone's surprise, it was Loki who answered first, raising a hand.

Everyone stared at him.

"What? I haven't eaten since last night."

"I don't think you'll be eating with us."Natasha said dryly as a Quinjet appeared in the distance.

"Coulson's coming to collect Loki. SHIELD still has a lot of questions for him."

The jet landed.

Coulson stepped out, holding a pair of cuffs.

"We've learned from last time—no more cages. They don't work, right?"

"Is that… vibranium?"Steve asked, eyeing the cuffs.
