It had been a week since Auden managed to free Salazar and obtained the knowledge from the Black Family Library. The next heist, to get the Hufflepuff Cup, was going to be even more complicated and difficult than the other three, so he had spent the last week preparing while being mentored by the three spirits.
Auden realized that the Goblins had enchanted their entire facility to make sure that not even a single spirit or spectre could enter the premises. So, he would have to do it on his own without the help of the other founders while inside the bank. Thankfully, he had help from the best wizards in the world, along with the knowledge of the Goblins' bank system from the books he had taken from the library.
The library contained information about the heirs left in the Black line, along with the vaults they had in Gringotts. It didn't include the locations of their keys, but it did contain the numbers assigned to the vaults.
Thankfully, Bellatrix's vault was in the old sections of Gringotts instead of the newly created floors by the bank. The information from the Black Family Library allowed Auden to easily locate where the vault would be. So, he had spent the last few days preparing for any kind of problem he might face while infiltrating the bank.
Godric had extensive knowledge about the craftsmanship of Goblins, and he even revealed the truth about the rumor surrounding the sword.
"I knew about the conditions under which the Goblins create weapons for others, so I decided to purchase Goblin silver and make a sword myself instead of relying on them and having my sword taken by them in the end. Many people had done similarly, but their creations were never up to par with those of the Goblins, so they never made a fuss. But things took a turn when I crafted the sword," Godric said as he explained what happened.
It seemed that regular weapons crafted with Goblin silver had the ability to retain the power of what they absorbed. But it was limited to one or two abilities, and after that, the weapon never grew. However, in the case of Godric's sword, he knew he would not be able to best the Goblins in their craftsmanship, so he decided to use enchantments and runes, which resulted in the creation of a sword that surpassed any creation done by the Goblins.
A sword with the ability to grow infinitely without limit. Although the sword had a few intervals in which it wouldn't take another ability after absorbing one, it still wasn't much of a drawback compared to what its potential could make it one day.
The Goblins were shocked and enraged by this and tried to wrench it from Godric.
There's no need to tell how that fight ended, I guess. The entire Goblin tribe was almost wiped out because Godric became too enthusiastic about testing out his own sword against the creations of the Goblins.
From what Rowena said, she had to beat the crap out of him to bring him back to his senses that day. If not, the Goblins might have entirely vanished from the planet.
So, a truce was formed in which Godric learned about every crafted item made by the Goblins and therefore learned the pattern of their creation. This allowed Godric to give Auden enough information to break the locks of the vaults without setting off any alarms that would expose him.
The rumor about Godric's sword being made by Goblins was something they concocted throughout the centuries to steal it from Hogwarts—though they were unsuccessful, as one of the abilities the sword gained, teleportation, allowed it to slip from the grasp of any Goblin that came near it.
Godric laughed as he realized the Goblins were unsuccessful even after his death.
"Now, now, stop the fun and games. It's time for my class, dear Auden," Rowena suddenly said from the side, stopping Godric's monologuing.
The last time he was in Grimmauld Palace, Auden realized he didn't have many comprehensive battle and infiltration spells. So, Rowena decided that it was her duty to teach him about them.
"Alright, since you'll be infiltrating Gringotts tomorrow, it's better for you to remain well-rested. Our session today will include the spells that you'll be using tomorrow to infiltrate that bank," Rowena said as she began instructing Auden in modifying already existing spells in a different manner that improved them many times over.
"Alright then. Do you have any doubts?" Rowena asked as the session ended.
"No, it's just that—do you have any spell to deal with Expelliarmus? I need one if by any chance I get ambushed by someone using that spell," Auden thought as he prepared for tomorrow.
"Hm, well, there is a small ritual we can do to accomplish that, but it will be slightly painful for you. Are you alright with that, kid?" Rowena asked.
"Well, I think I can," Auden replied tentatively, as he didn't know the level of pain tolerance needed for it.
Rowena smiled at that.
'Glad to know that the kid can exhibit a bit of childish emotion sometimes.'
"Alright, come on, it's better to ask Salazar about it. His experience in rituals surpasses all of ours," Rowena said as she floated toward the house.
"Are all of you good at each branch of magic?" Auden asked as he walked.
"Yes, we are, although our weakest branch of magic still compares to the best in that field outside the four of us. Salazar's skills lay in dark arts and rituals, Godric was best at all kinds of battling and craftsmanship, I was skilled in creating entirely new spells and enchantments, and finally, Helga was best at caring for both flora and fauna in the wizarding as well as the non-magical world," Rowena said with a smile. "She would be really excited to show it to you when she wakes."
Auden nodded with a smile, excited about getting the cup tomorrow.
A/N: Hope you liked it.
