📞 Kuya Angelo calling…
I picked up the phone, my voice shaky."Hello?"
[Why are you at the hospital, Jay? Did something happen?]
I sighed. I couldn't lie to him anymore.
"K-Keifer got into an accident," I said softly.
[What? I'm coming.]
Before I could say anything else, he hung up.
Huh?! He's coming here?
Keifer glanced at me. "Who was that?"
"K-Kuya," I answered quickly.
"What did he say?"
"He's coming back home."
"So he wasn't home all these days?" he asked again.
"Just yesterday."
"You should've called me," he muttered, a little irritated.
I couldn't help but chuckle. He's really something, even when he's the one lying in a hospital bed.
A knock echoed at the door. I went to open it — and there stood the Ulupong gang, carrying plastic bags and a big duffel.
"What's that?" I asked, pointing at the stuff in their hands.
"Some fruits… and your clothes," Rory replied with a teasing grin. "We know you're gonna stay the night here."
I rolled my eyes. Wait—I snatched the bag from them and checked it immediately.
Oh no. They did pack my inn—
"Who packed this bag?" I demanded, my face burning.
They all pointed at Ci-N.
"Him," David said simply.
Thank goodness. Ci-N already knew everything about me — he'd even seen the scars on my back. That was fine. I exhaled in relief and placed everything beside the hospital bed.
I started unpacking the plastic bags — each one stuffed full of fruit.So they do care, huh?
"Jay, peel the oranges for him," Ci-N said. "He's probably hungry."
I peeled a few and handed them to Keifer."Thanks, babe!" he said brightly.
The room exploded.
"BABE?!"
"UFF, GET MARRIED ALREADY!"

"IDIOT, IT'S LOVELY!"
Keifer just laughed along with them, while I sat there trying to disappear into the floor. Why does it always have to be me?
Then, another knock came — firm, heavier this time.
