"Stay here, Hope. I'll get them and come back for you. You can just stay as a..." Asher turns to me, his hands placed on my shoulders while his other hand pats my hair in a very cute way.
I cut him short, knowing fully well he's about to do something I would never like.
"There's no fucking way I'm doing that, Asher. Do you not trust me?"
"I do, but—"
"Then let me come with you. You've seen how much I've leveled up. I'm not that weak, scaredy girl that needs some sort of protection and boundaries on who to go up against. I'd rather be happier taking this man down. I want to fight, Asher, and you know I love to fight."
His brows draw together like he's about to cry. I watch him bite his lip and look away.
"It's more humiliating and hurting that you don't trust me to survive this, Asher. What worse scenario have I not survived? I'm coming with you, and that's it."
