"Harry Potter- Ravenclaw"Chapter 160: The Wonder of Youth!
Wyzett smiled, pride shining in his eyes. "Luna helped with the design—she's brilliant at that sort of thing."
"And Fred and George gave me loads of great advice. I've learned so much from them."
When it came to magical device crafting, the Weasley twins were naturals. Wyzett always found inspiration in their wild ideas. It was thanks to this collaboration that his understanding of Grindelwald's notes kept deepening.
The magical device before them was a perfect example: built using methods from those legendary notes, enhanced by traditional techniques and a dash of ritual magic theory.
Dumbledore's eyes twinkled with approval as he nodded. "No one can do everything alone. It's good to gather wisdom from many sources."
He ran a finger along the softly glowing amethyst, sounding genuinely impressed. "Such flawless purity... This is a rare treasure indeed."
Wyzett answered honestly, "Lady Pendragon helped with that. The crystal came from one of the treasure chests in the Guardian's Chamber. As you said, it's top-quality material—perfect for magical devices, rituals, or almost any purpose."
Dumbledore—old friend of Grindelwald, fellow alchemist with Nicolas Flamel, and co-inventor of many magical marvels—had the expertise to assess the device from every angle, spotting details even Wyzett might have missed.
Wyzett offered his notebook. "Headmaster, here are my notes—the concept and step-by-step process for making the device."
"The key is the amethyst. All its sensing and feedback abilities come from the crystal, and from the Mandrake leaf sealed inside."
"Mandrake leaf?" Dumbledore grew serious, studying the notebook. "So you inscribed Parseltongue into the Mandrake leaf, almost like runic magic..."
"That's right. I discovered Mandrake leaves can turn memories into 'anchors.' Being able to apply that so quickly is quite clever!"
Wyzett blushed a little at the praise. "It took a lot of trial and error with Parseltongue to figure it out."
"As a magical talent, Parseltongue is a lot like spellcasting. So I could use it to inscribe a magical pattern into the Mandrake leaf."
Dumbledore picked up the device again, peering at the Mandrake leaf inside. "A serpent-shaped Mandrake leaf... That's Transfiguration magic at work, isn't it?"
Wyzett nodded. "Exactly. I used Parseltongue to mimic a snake's senses—that's the role of Transfiguration here."
"When a snake approaches, it instinctively reacts to Parseltongue. The Mandrake leaf inside can pick up on that reaction, acting as a kind of magical sensor. Like this..."
He closed his eyes, focused for a moment, then hissed a series of ethereal sounds at the device.
Immediately, the amethyst flared with dazzling white light, followed by a piercing shriek.
Wyzett had inscribed both the Lumos and Shrieking Charms into the device—that's what the carved runes were for.
"Ahem... Off!" Wyzett coughed and gave the shutdown command in his normal voice.
"Headmaster, what do you think? Is there anything I should improve?"
Dumbledore stroked his beard, a playful glint in his eye as he pulled a handful of sweets from his pocket and set them on the table.
He tapped the device with his wand, murmuring softly as he waved it overhead. Wisps of mist and gentle heat wafted out—he was running a series of magical diagnostics.
Peeling open a Lemon Drop, Dumbledore said, "Even with my most critical eye, this device is exceptional. Its core function, adaptability, and magical logic are all superb."
"If anything, I'd say you could still refine the appearance, the way it identifies snakes, and especially the warning method."
"'Appearance, snake recognition, warning method...'" Wyzett repeated, mulling over the advice. "You're right—the warning is a bit crude. We're supposed to lure the snake out, not scare it off."
"Let me help with that," Dumbledore offered, smiling. He tapped the notebook with his wand, duplicating it, then picked up a quill and began to make amendments.
"A simple Disillusionment Rune here, a concealment charm there... Of course, it might get a bit more expensive—alchemy will be needed to refine Demiguise hair for the carvings..."
"And some of your steps are a little complicated for the sake of precision. Let me show you how to simplify—here, try zircon instead..."
Wyzett hurried to jot down every word. Even a few hints from Dumbledore, master of alchemy, were worth their weight in gold.
He took the chance to ask about several lingering questions—things he'd never quite understood. Each one received a thorough, illuminating answer.
A brief revision session became a masterclass, guiding him deeper into the mysteries of alchemy and magical device creation.
Dumbledore moved on. "As for snake recognition... that's a real challenge. There are so many snake species at Hogwarts, and some students keep pet snakes. Any ideas?"
After all this learning, Wyzett's mind felt sharper than ever. "My memory! The memory of that cold, hissing voice! Now that I know it belonged to the giant serpent, I can add another Mandrake leaf to anchor the device to that specific sound!"
"Brilliant! We've cracked another problem." Dumbledore handed him a sweet. "Now, about linking these magical devices together—any thoughts?"
"Maybe I could use the Obscurus?" Wyzett suggested. "Like in the murals—I can separate out a portion."
"Ah, youth is wonderful!" Dumbledore sighed, beaming. "I never expected you'd already digested the secrets of those murals..." 🔥 Want to read the next 50+ chapters RIGHT NOW?
