STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC140: Sealing The Deal

Chapter 140: Sealing The Deal

Riyala could not understand anything being said by the actors in the show, but the acting and movement were so expressive and interesting that she could somehow follow along without understanding!

Gina could already tell that Riyala was a very calm and collected person who never expressed too much emotion, but right now, she couldn't help but see Riyala as just any other girl. Gina walked closer and sat down beside Riyala while leaning back on the Moonlight Wolf. Riyala turned in surprise as Gina handed her a can of soda and Riyala took the can cautiously with her eyes narrowed in curiosity! Riyala tried opening the top of the can like it was a jar, and Gina quickly stopped her since she knew that Riyala would be able to do just that! Riyala was as strong as a high-level C Rank or maybe even a B Rank, so tearing a can in half would be easy for her!

"You do it like this."

Gina showed Riyala how to open the can, and Riyala followed along and recoiled in surprise when the can fizzled open! Gina took a sip and gestured for Riyala to do the same. Riyala looked skeptical, but she eventually took a sip as well!

"Cough! Cough! It's so foamy!"

Riyala exclaimed in her language, and even though Gina couldn't understand her, the look on Riyala's face was enough to make Gina burst out in laughter! Riyala's reactions to things on Earth were priceless!

...

A far distance away, on the other side of the city, a shadow moved across the street away from the prying eyes of the civilians. The Phantom and his Mana Hound had made their way through two cities in the past day. New Jersey had been filled with multiple magic-wielding humans because of the new Gate that appeared there, so it had been hard for them to pinpoint the perfect path to follow out of the city, but once they managed to get past New Jersey and entered New York, things were a lot easier. New York was a hub for regular humans who were involved in all the businesses there, so they didn't have any mana that would obstruct the Mana Hound from picking up the princess's mana signature. They were able to move through New York at a quick pace and only stopped at one point when the Mana Hound noticed a small residue of the princess's mana close to the New York subway station.

The lizard-based phantom looked around at all the people in the subway and didn't see anyone with a mana signature matching the princess, so they continued on their way. The princess's mana signature was getting stronger the further they went and by the time they made it into Riverdale, the Mana Hound had honed in on the princess like a shark smelling blood in the water!

The Mana Hound had almost come out of the shadow and ruined their cover, but the lizard-based phantom stopped it and made sure it calmed down before they continued their search.

They moved through Riverdale quickly and it didn't take long before they were on the same street where Jason lived. The princess's mana was like a beacon on the horizon now and the phantom could literally see it calling on him to get closer. The Phantom made his way through the shadows and to one of the buildings ca few kilometers away from Jason's apartment before he went up to the roof and slowly lifted its head from the shadows to get a better look.

Its yellow-slitted eyes watched Jason's building closely for a few seconds to make sure that the princess's mana was really in there and he took note of three other mana-based creatures inside the building as well. Two of the mana-based creatures were Magic Beasts, and the third one was a human. How in the world did they get the beasts to behave so well? The beasts were lying down on the floor right beside the human and princess and they weren't attacking at all.

"From the information we got, the princess is a genius beast tamer. She has more knowledge about beasts than anyone else in Radagan. Maybe she is the one that tamed those beasts?"

The lizard-based phantom narrowed his eyes at this thought before he decided that it was the most sensible explanation for what was happening. He knew there was a chance that he was wrong, but from the level of mana he could feel coming from the creatures in the building as well as the human and princess, he was certain that they wouldn't be able to put up much of a fight against anything above C Rank.

The two Magic Beasts were somewhere around high-level C Ranks while the human was a mid-level C Rank. The princess had B Rank mana levels, but the information they got about her told them that she only knew how to use her magic for healing and some other low-level spells, so she wasn't going to pose much of a threat.

"We can handle them with only three of our weaker warriors. Or maybe I could even take them on now and force the princess to come back with me?"

The phantom narrowed his eyes as he thought about moving to apprehend the princess, but he eventually decided against it. If he went in now, then it was likely that the resulting fight would cause a scene and force more superhumans to come to see what was going on. The Phantom was sure that he could handle the people in the room, but he didn't think he could take on more enemies all at the same time.

He decided that he would go back to his leader and report what he discovered. The leader would then make a decision on what they were meant to do next.

...

Vroom!

Jason made his way through the city on his bike as he headed for his mother's restaurant. Earlier this morning, Jason got a call from Juliet telling him that the deal was ready for his signature. Jason made sure to go with a third-party lawyer that he found online just to make sure that the deal was actually what they agreed on, and after the lawyer ensured that there were no loopholes or hidden clauses in the document, he signed.

The entire process took more than five hours and now it was almost two in the afternoon. Jason gave three hundred Magic Crystals to the Tenet company. Two hundred and twenty of them were small crystals from the Adamantine ant workers and the other eighty of them were medium-sized crystals from the Adamantine Ant Scouts and soldiers. The actual prices of the crystals came to one hundred and fifty thousand dollars for the smaller crystals, five hundred and fifty thousand dollars for the crystals from the Adamantine Ant Scouts, and seven hundred thousand dollars for the crystals from the Adamantine Ant Soldiers.

The prices were a lot better than what Jason thought they would be mainly because of how well he had extracted them from the dead bodies of the monsters. Even Juliet had to admit that they weren't paying Jason enough given how well extracted the crystals were. But they couldn't pay more since they just wouldn't be able to finance the purchase if they did. At the end of the deal, the total sum payment came down to eighty million dollars, and when they took off the thirty percent that belonged to Tenet, Jason was walking away with fifty-four million dollars.

It would have been higher than that if Jason hadn't given them a higher percentage in exchange for company shares, but he knew that it would be beneficial in the long run, so he didn't mind losing a couple million now to gain hundreds of millions in the future.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC141: Gaining Control

Chapter 141: Gaining Control After concluding the deal, the next step had been for Jason to create a secure account with a high-level bank that would ensure he maintained his anonymity. Jason had spoken to Juliet about a bank that he could use when they had their first meeting. The conditions for choosing a bank were simple. First, Jason had to be sure that they were not connected to the government in any way, or at least he had to be sure that they couldn't be subjected to audits by government bodies. And secondly, Jason had to make sure that the bank would be willing to keep his identity a secret.

Thankfully, Juliet knew a bank that would be able to help Jason out in both of those aspects. Juliet's family, the Raphas, were exceptionally rich since they were already a thriving metal processing company before going into the Magic Item dealing business. And as a rich family, it was a necessity for them to have contacts with some of the highest authorities in the banking sector to ensure their funds were well taken care of.

The name of the bank Juliet referred him to was Shield Investments. Its main headquarters was on Wall Street, New York, but there was a branch located here in Riverdale. It was inside a high-rise building in the business sector of Riverdale, and Jason had to go up fifty floors just to reach it. The bank was as lavish as a bank could get. Pristine polished marble floors and mahogany ceilings with a fancy chandelier floating just overhead. There were men and women wearing very expensive suits and walking around with folders in their hands. They never rushed and they never seemed to be lost or confused, and Jason was grateful when none of them turned to him or gawked. They simply continued on their way in a pompous and almost snobbish manner.

The man standing at the entrance asked Jason who he was there to see, and once Jason told him the name of the banker, he bowed to Jason and began to lead him towards the appropriate office.

The person that Jason had come to meet was the same banker who handled the funds for the Tenet company and the Rapha family, and so Juliet had informed him that Jason would be coming around for business. The guide knocked once and waited for the man to allow them in before he opened the door and ushered Jason inside. Inside the office was just as pristine as the rest of the bank, and the man behind a large oak desk stood and extended his hand to Jason in a confident greeting.

"Mr. Jason Marc. It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Raymond Green. I've heard quite a lot about you from Madam Rapha."

Jason smiled back and thanked the man for meeting him on such short notice, and the man waved it away! He was here for business, so he would never turn away a business meeting, especially when it came from a family that had been with them for so long.

"Please, have a seat. I've just been looking through the request file that you sent earlier, and I must say, it's quite an interesting set of demands. You're not only asking us to accept large sums of money without proper knowledge of their origin, but you're also asking for our discretion when dealing with government agencies to ensure you are kept anonymous."

Jason hummed while leaning back in the seat calmly.

"Is it not possible?"

The banker laughed.

"Please, Mr. Jason. You are hardly the first millionaire who desired to keep his actual net worth a secret from the government. Our bank has been dealing with high-value families for the past two centuries, and in that time we have never once exposed the actual net worth or identity of any of our customers who asked us not to. A situation like this is just like any other day."

Jason smiled at that. At least with a bank like this, he could be sure that no one would meddle in his assets. The banker began to produce some forms for Jason to sign and stamp, and Jason went through them calmly as the banker spoke up.

"You or your lawyer can have a look at the documents and fax them to us once you are done signing. We won't need anything else from you other than this, so the moment we receive them, your account will be opened and ready for receiving funds."

Jason nodded along before he thanked the banker and left. Jason had a lawyer look through the documents, and that took another two hours out of his day as he tried to make sure there were no loopholes or hidden clauses there as well. Once he was sure that the contract was ironclad, Jason signed the documents and sent them by fax to the bank.

Jason had a plan to start up a ghost LLC in the future so that he would be able to funnel the money more easily through that and also avoid some taxes, but for now, he had to make do with Shield Investments.

And now that Jason was done with all of that, he was heading to his mother's restaurant to help out there. The bank had sent a message stating that his account was successfully created, and Jason only had to wait for an hour so that the funds would be sent in from Tenet. If Jason had any issues or if he wanted to make a large withdrawal, then he would be able to call Raymond since he was his personal banker. But Jason could make withdrawals below five million dollars without any issues.

Jason saw his mother's restaurant appear in the distance and he frowned slightly when he saw various cars parked close to the building. There were some people standing about with cameras and Jason immediately knew that they had to be journalists. Were these fuckers targeting his mother now because he didn't give them an interview?

Jason felt rage build up inside him once he realized what could be happening and he sped up slightly to reach the restaurant faster! As he approached, the reporters standing about immediately perked up! The cameramen immediately began to point their cameras toward Jason while the reporters grabbed their microphones to try and ask him questions! Jason parked his bike to the side without bothering to pay the reporters any mind and he unleashed some of the mana in his body to make sure no one would dare come too close to him!

The reporters gave Jason a wide berth once they felt the intense power rolling off him, and Jason walked past them while ignoring their questions. He got to the entrance and immediately entered.

"Mum, is everything... okay?"

Jason paused in surprise at what he saw all around him. The restaurant was packed! There were people sitting in every possible space inside the building and some people were even standing as they ate their food! Each and every single person there looked like they worked for one television network or another, and Jason could only imagine that they were reporters who had come to ask his mother questions. How in the world did his mother manage to make them all sit down so quietly?

A woman sitting at the side perked up once she saw Jason and she came around and spoke quickly!

"Mr. Jason! My name is Easter from the AVC channel. I was wondering if—"

"Ah-hem!"

A voice from behind Easter made her flinch slightly and Jason tilted his head to one side to see his mother giving Easter a hard glare from behind the counter! Easter's face flushed in slight anger before she turned and left Jason alone.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC142: Jason and Janet

Chapter 142: Jason and Janet

"Ah-hem!"

A voice from behind made Easter flinch slightly, and Jason tilted his head to one side to see his mother giving Easter a hard glare from behind the counter! Easter's cheeks flushed in slight anger before she turned and left Jason alone.

Mira smiled once she saw the woman leave her son alone, and Jason couldn't help but give his mother a curious look. He walked over to her and kissed her gently on the cheek before he asked her what the hell she had done to make the reporters so mellow.

"Oh, it was nothing much... I just told them that about the CCTV cameras we had and threatened them with a lawsuit."

Jason raised a brow in shock and immediately asked his mother to explain!

It turned out that the reporters had been following Mira around for the past few hours since she left the house, and Mira had to use a section of the law to deter them from acting up. According to Riverdale law, building owners were allowed to sue any reporter or media personnel that caused issues in their building. The government created this law because of the growing number of social media influencers and how they were always causing issues for regular citizens in restaurants and business places. Once the law was created, the number of complaints dropped drastically.

This law extended to both restaurants and other businesses, so Mira had used that against the reporters. She allowed them to stay outside and do whatever they wanted, but when they were inside her building, they had to behave or she would submit the CCTV footage to the police.

The reporters had been rebellious at first, and they all stayed outside and tried to get pictures through the glass door, but after they stayed there for hours, they got hungry enough that some of them abandoned their post and had to go in for a meal, and that was what led to the restaurant being so filled up.

Jason chuckled at the entire story before walking over to grab an apron. Since there were so many people, he was sure that his mum needed help, but Mira suddenly waved her hand and told Jason not to worry. There was someone helping already.

Jason's eyes narrowed in curiosity.

"What? Who?"

"Hey, mum. Did you say the burger should be well done or just done?"

A voice came from the kitchen in the back as a head poked out from the door, and Jason couldn't stop his eyes from widening slightly when he saw who it was.

His sister Janet had always been beautiful. She had the same black hair and eyes as the rest of the family, and Jason knew that with her small nose and kind features, she would grow up to have a very motherly appearance. And as Jason stared at the woman in front of him, he knew that he had been right.

Janet's hair was tied up into a topknot that kept it out of her face. She was wearing an apron over a t-shirt and faded jeans, and she held a spatula in one hand as she stood at the kitchen entrance with wide eyes. The scene was so nostalgic that Jason was thrown back many years to how they used to be for a split moment. But then, his eyes narrowed back to the present and he nodded to Janet.

"Janet."

That was the only greeting he gave, but it was enough to make Janet flinch like she had been slapped. She opened her mouth to try and give a greeting back to Jason, but Jason already turned away to look at his phone. A message just came in informing him that he had gotten a deposit in his bank of fifty-seven million, and Jason grinned before looking to his mother.

"Do you still have the building owner's number? I want to speak to him."

Mira had a slightly pained expression on her face when she saw the lack of a proper greeting between her two children, but she didn't want to cause a scene in front of so many reporters by telling them to make up here. She reached for her phone and gave Jason the number he wanted, and Jason thanked her with a small smile.

"I'll be just outside."

Jason turned and started leaving the restaurant, and Janet took a step toward him while calling out his name. Jason didn't bother responding to her as he left, and Janet grimaced at the dismissal. Janet turned to her mother to see that she was also staring at where Jason had gone with a sad look on her face, and Janet quickly spoke up.

"Mum, can you help me in the kitchen? I'll go talk to him."

Mira immediately tried to stop Janet! What in the world did she think she was doing!? But Janet had always been the most impulsive of all her children, and so Janet was already leaving the restaurant before Mira could stop her.

Janet had come back to Riverdale on the night bus yesterday after Jason gave the okay. Mira wanted to tell Jason about it earlier, but she didn't think it was a good idea since she knew Jason didn't really want to know anything about what Janet was up to. Mira knew that Janet and Jason would eventually run into each other, but she had hoped that it would be under better circumstances. With so many people around, she didn't think they could really resolve their issues. Mira sighed and went to the back room to check on the burgers. She just had to trust that her children would be fine.

...

"Hello, this is Jason Marc. My mother Mira Marc runs a restaurant in your building. I'd like to talk to you about buying the building."

Jason was currently leaning against his bike behind the restaurant. The reporters had tried to get close to Jason the moment he left the restaurant, but he managed to keep them away using regular bursts of mana and they allowed him to have his space when they saw that he was not in a good mood.

Jaspm folded his hands as the building owner on the other side of the phone immediately began to put up an argument. They brought up the fact that the building had been in their family for a long time and how they weren't willing to sell for any amount! Jason just nodded along while responding.

"Yes, I know it's been in your family for generations. Yes, I know. I said I know. Trust me, you'd want to hear my deal. I'm willing to buy the building for one million dollars."

The person on the other side of the phone almost choked!

[... R-Really? That's quite a lot —]

"Yes, it's a lot of money, the building is currently valued at seven hundred thousand, and that is if I'm being generous. So I think it's a good deal for you to sell it for one million, isn't it?"

All of a sudden, the building owner became respectful.

[Mr. Jason, I understand that you want that building but I just cannot sell it to you.]

"If you're worried about your family's reaction, then you can just buy them another building in another part of the city. Neither you nor your family live here, but my mum has worked in this building for more than fifteen years. I think it's fair to give it to her for that amount."

Jason looked up as he saw Janet making her way through the crowd of reporters and heading for him, and he looked away to continue his conversation with the building owner.

"So, what do you say?"

[I... I'm sorry Mr. Jason. I just cannot sell you the building.]

Jason's eyes narrowed dangerously.

"Why not?"

The landlord went silent for a few seconds as he thought about whether or not he should tell Jason what was happening, but after a while, he decided that Jason had a right to know, so he spoke up.

[There's been a mass acquisition recently. A fast food company is looking to buy out all the major restaurants in the city and turn them into branch locations. In truth, I already sold the building and I was about to bring the news to your mother next month and tell her that she would need to leave. I'm sorry, but I just can't sell it to you.]

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC143: That Family Again?

Chapter 143: That Family Again?

Jason's face turned furious after hearing that the owner was planning to evict his mother! This was the first time he was hearing about this and he couldn't believe the landlord was actually going to throw his mother out after all the effort and time she put into this place! This restaurant had been in their family for fifteen years, so in a way, it felt almost like a part of their family! Jason wasn't going to allow some fucking fast food joint to buy it!

"How much did they offer you?"

[It's not about the money, Mr. Jason. In truth, they offered me less than what you offered. But I already signed the contract with them and the deal has been finalized. I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do.]

"What fast food joint are we talking about?"

[...Have you heard about Ulysses? It's a new fast food joint that was started by Fredrick Cass, the multimillionaire.]

Jason's face darkened even further. That surname was one that Jason would recognize anywhere! It was the same surname that Jared had! Didn't that mean that this man was Jared's father? Jason took in a deep breath as he tried to figure out what to do next. The only thing Jason could do now was to find a way to force Fredrick to let go of this restaurant, but with everything that had happened between Jason and Jared, Jason knew that it would be difficult to convince Fredrick of anything.

'I have to find something that'll help me convince him. Something that will force him to accept my deal.'

Jason couldn't think of anything right now because he didn't know much about the Cass family, but with the connections he had been getting recently, Jason was sure that he would be able to find at least one thing he could use to strongarm Fredrick into a deal.

Jason would normally not use blackmail to get what he wants, but in this situation, Jason knew that there would simply be no other way to convince the Cass family. And as far as Jason was concerned he would hold nothing back to make his mother happy.

[Hello, Mr. Jason. Are you still there? I'm sorry things had to be this way. If I had known you were interested in purchasing the building earlier, then I would have given it to you instead. Your mother has never defaulted on her rent payment and I've always appreciated how much effort she put into taking care of you all.]

"That's fine, sir. Thanks for everything."

Jason said a quick goodbye before he cut the call. He was already starting to think of what to do next when a pair of feet stepped into Jason's view and Jason looked up calmly to see his sister standing in front of him. She was holding her right arm nervously while looking to the side and she only looked at Jason after the silence had stretched for too long.

"Uhm... hey, Jason. It's been a while."

"..."

Jason said nothing in response to that. His eyes were like black daggers that pierced into Janet with each passing second and she could already feel sweat going down her back from how intense the moment was. Jason sighed as he pocketed his phone and spoke.

"What do you want, Janet?"

"I just wanted to talk."

"I've got nothing to say to you."

Jason stood to leave. He was already not in a good mood, so he didn't want to have to deal with this. But Janet grabbed his hand and told him to wait. Jason looked at her offending hand with a deep frown and Janet let go before speaking.

"Look, I know you don't like me being here. Mum already told me that much. But I just need some help right now to get back on my feet. I'll stay out of your way and I'll help out however I can. It'll be just like the good old days. I mean, we're still a family, right?"

Jason felt anger rise from his heart when he heard that and he snarled at her.

"If I remember correctly, you left us during the 'good old days'. Maybe you should've thought about us being a family before that."

Janet scowled and it looked like she was about to speak up, but Jason stopped her before she could say anything.

"I'm not going to try and guilt trip you into feeling bad or anything, you made your choice and that's that. But don't you come here and try to pretend that what you did didn't break this family. Don't pretend like it didn't break Mum. I don't know what you're playing at here, Janet, but know this: the moment I ever suspect that your intentions are anything but pure; if you try to hurt Mum in any way at all, I'll make sure you vanish myself."

Jason turned to walk away and had already taken a few steps before Janet spoke up.

"How about Jupiter? Is she... doing okay?"

Jason turned to give Janet a glare. Jupiter was the fifth and final member of the family. Jason's little sister, who had only been five years old when both their father and Janet left them. Jupiter barely remembers anything about the both of them because of how young she was back then and Jason was adamant to keep things that way.

"You don't get to ask about her. She doesn't know you're here, and when you leave, she won't know about that either. If you try reaching out to her, I'll kick you out, so watch yourself."

Jason finally headed back into the restaurant and Janet looked down at the ground sadly. Jason knew that his mum wanted him to forget what had happened and get along with his sister like normal, but there was no way Jason could just let it go. He couldn't give his sister another chance to break up their family, so he would remain skeptical for as long as he needed to. If he saw that she was only here to cause more issues for them, then he was more than ready to send her packing again.

...

[Within an Undeveloped Gate]

[One Dimensional Leap Away From Earth]

The sky was covered with grey clouds, casting the world in a dull and muted aura. There were thunderclouds far in the horizon and lightning could be seen dancing across the sky with aggressive intensity!

At the base of a valley, hidden by a large hill that faced away from the incoming rain, a large campsite with thirty tents was arranged around a large campfire. The tents were all colored with a deep black that allowed them to blend perfectly into the night! There was hardly any sound to be heard from the camp other than the muted sound of conversation coming from a few figures sitting around the fire, and all around the campsite were various sentries that were keeping a lookout to make sure that they were not ambushed by any enemies or Magic Beasts.

"The Hounds are restless."

A man standing at the side spoke in a gruff voice as he looked at the various Mana Hounds that were feeding on Magic Beasts' meat. The man was talking to a woman who was dressed in the same black skintight attire that he was in and he had a frown on his face as the woman spoke.

"They aren't used to the weather. They haven't been in an arid world for almost a year now. Most of our search missions are in the desert or cities."

The man hummed before turning to glance at the largest tent in the campsite. That was the leader's tent and the leader was currently in a meeting with the man that they sent to search for the princess on Earth. The man's hand absentmindedly began to snake around to the woman's ass and the woman slapped it away.

"Behave yourself."

The man smiled mischievously.

"Come on, we haven't done it in a while."

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC144: The Attack Squad

Chapter 144: The Attack Squad

The man's hand began to snake around to the woman's ass, and the woman slapped it away.

"Behave yourself."

The man smiled mischievously.

"Come on, we haven't done it in a while."

The woman looked around to make sure no one was looking before she quickly leaned over and kissed the man on the edge of his mouth.

"Come to my tent tonight and we'll have fun. We're too exposed right now."

The man released a low chuckle before they both separated when they saw another phantom moving past them. They nodded to their colleague, and the colleague nodded back. They stood in silence for a few seconds before the woman got back to the subject at hand while glancing towards the leader's tent once more.

"Do you think he found the princess?"

The man shrugged while scratching his chin. Both the man and woman were members of a feline race known as the Fevra that existed more than a hundred-dimensional leaps away from Earth. They had yellow striped skin and tigerlike features that made them look very dangerous.

The man spoke after thinking for a few seconds.

"If he came back without results, then it'll be his head. Alpha doesn't take well to failure."

As far as the leader was concerned, it was better if you simply died on a mission than for you to come back without proper results. And if you dared to run away from a mission because you failed, then that would be even worse. The leader's shadow abilities allowed her not only to travel through the shadows, but she could also use it to find anyone who possessed the same shadow-walking ability. It didn't matter where you were or where you ran off to, Alpha would find you easily, and she would kill you without fail.

The woman nodded along to the man's statement as they turned back to watching over the feeding hounds, but it wasn't long before Alpha's tent flapped open, and Alpha walked out with a blank look on her face. The lizard-based phantom that had been spying on Jason's apartment walked out after her and went to join the other phantoms standing at the side. The phantoms that were sitting around the fire all stood to their feet as they turned to regard her, and she glanced over all of them with critical eyes before she pointed to five specific phantoms.

"You five, come."

That was all she said before she turned around and entered back into the tent. The five phantoms followed after her, and they entered the large tent to see Alpha taking a seat behind a round table. The tent was dimly lit with a lantern at the side, and there were maps and bags of coins that they had stolen from their previous missions piled on the opposite side of the tent. Alpha was looking through a map on her table, and the five phantoms all came around and sat on the floor opposite Alpha.

Each of them had a different biological makeup, but they all possessed a significant amount of experience in carrying out stealth missions. From what the lizard-based phantom told Alpha, Earth was a world filled with millions of superhumans, and there were many of them located around the city where the princess was currently hiding. If the phantoms tried to carry out a direct attack to extract the princess, then they would end up alerting the other superhumans to what was going on.

The best course of action was to carry out a stealth mission with three to five of their best members. These members would go in and extract the princess while making sure they were quick enough not to be ambushed by the other superhumans. The lizard-based phantom told Alpha that there were Magical Beasts as well as one other human in the building with the princess, but none of them were above low-level B Rank, so they didn't have to worry about them putting up a major fight..

The five phantoms in front of Alpha now were between high C Rank to high B Rank, with the strongest one of them being close to breaking into the A Rank. If she sent them to handle things, then she was sure there wouldn't be any issues!

Alpha looked up from the map that she had been reading and looked over the five assembled phantoms. The map was something the lizard-based phantom created when he was still on Earth, and it was meant to show them the shortest path to take to reach the princess quickly. Alpha turned the map around to let them see it and then she spoke.

"The princess has been found, and her location is two cities down from the closest Dimensional Tear. You five will make your way through the Dimensional Tear here and travel through the shadow across the city to capture her. Take only your essentials with you. Weapons, smoke screens, and daggers. If there are any obstructions, then deal with them according to your discretion. If anyone gets in your way, ensure they cannot run to call for more help. Do you understand?"

The five phantoms nodded, and Alpha thought for a few seconds before she spoke again.

"Yulyv, you'll lead this mission."

Yulyv was one of the younger phantoms. He had a head of white hair, and his face was completely flat with no nose. His eyes were slanted and sharp, and this gave him a dangerous look that would strike fear into anyone who saw him. Yulyv hailed from a world of desert wanderers who harvested spices and rare metal fragments from the sand and dust around them. He had been on an expedition to deliver a cargo of rare metals when he was attacked and almost killed by an enemy convoy. It was only due to the fact that Alpha and the other phantoms had been tasked with killing the enemy convoy that he managed to live, and after they saved his life, he joined them.

His thin frame and high agility were something he inherited from his people, and it gave him an insane advantage in all stealth situations and allowed him to creep through the most difficult situations without alerting a single soul. Due to his age and the fact that he was only a new member of the phantoms, he had never been given a leadership role before. But Alpha recognized his ability, and since he was growing so quickly, she knew that he could become one of the most useful members of their group, so she decided to use this opportunity to test him.

Yulyv nodded in acceptance of the mission, and Alpha looked to the other four there to see what their reactions would be. Two of them didn't look like they had any issues following the orders of someone younger than them, but the other two had complicated expressions on their faces. It was obvious that they were not completely in agreement with Alpha's decision, but they were wise enough not to say anything about it. They simply nodded to Alpha as well, and Alpha turned back to the map and began giving them their instructions.

It was up to Yulyv to decide how he would handle any insubordination from those he was leading, and Alpha would find out whether or not he was worthy of having more leadership roles based on how this one goes.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC145: Are You Even Human?

Chapter 145: Are You Even Human?

[Monday]

[The Day of the SMD Assessment]

[Jason's Apartment]

"Hey, babe, did you see where I put my black boots?"

Jason spoke with a frown on his face while holding his phone between his chin and shoulder. He looked around his room critically, but he just couldn't find where he had put his shoes. On the other side of the phone, Gina laughed as she told him exactly where they were. Jason hummed and thanked her as he went to grab them.

Gina had gone home last night because she had to get some more clothes for both her and Riyala, so right now Jason was at home alone with Riyala. The dragon princess had become very comfortable in Jason's house in the past day, and after she spent time with Gina yesterday, Jason could tell that both of them had gotten very close.

[Are you already heading out?]

Gina spoke up over the phone, and Jason hummed in confirmation while putting on his boots. He was going to the SMD building for the assessment today, and even before leaving, Jason could already tell that this was going to be a freaking long day. The number of calls and messages he had been getting from guilds had still not reduced in the least, and Jason was sure that there would be a lot of guild representatives waiting for him there.

Jason was still not interested in joining any guilds and he most likely wouldn't join any since he didn't need a guild to help him clear out a Gate, but he was still hiding his actual powers for now and he would have to just put up with them until they got tired of trying to recruit him.

"You're on your way to work, right?"

Gina sighed over the phone and Jason laughed.

[Yeah, they said they were doing some promotion for our guild and they wanted all the big hitters there so we can put our best foot forward. I should be done in a few hours, so I'll come to your place once it's finished.]

"Alright, babe. Stay safe out there."

[You too. Love you.]

Jason grinned.

"Love you too."

Jason clicked off the phone once the conversation was done and he grabbed his wallet and began heading out of the room. Riyala was sitting on his couch with her legs drawn up to her chest. Her eyes were fixed on the television like it was a black hole drawing her in, and she was using both hands to gently stroke the heads of the large wolves that had become her personal bodyguards. There were three of them now and they had all taken to her like loyal puppies! Jason didn't know what it was about her, but for some reason all Magical Beasts seemed to really like Riyala.

Jason looked over to the TV to see what she was watching and he just chuckled when he saw one of Gina's soap operas playing there. The show was in Spanish and the subtitles were English, so Jason knew Riyala couldn't understand a word of what was being said, but Jason could easily tell that she was fucking invested in it! She was watching it like she couldn't bear to miss a single second!

Jason shook his head and began walking toward the kitchen while calling out.

"Riyala."

Riyala jolted suddenly once she heard her name and she turned around to see Jason giving her a curious look. Her face was still perfectly stoic, but the dragon scales around her cheek reddened slightly when she realized that she hadn't even heard Jason coming in! She quickly took the remote and paused the TV like Gina had taught her before she turned to Jason.

"Y-Yes."

Riyala was still getting used to the fact that someone in this world could speak her language so fluently, but she cherished every conversation she had with Jason because of how much it reminded her of her home. Jason smiled at her before pointing to the kitchen.

"Are you hungry?"

Riyala's eyes lit up happily and she nodded quickly! If there was one thing that Riyala really loved about this world, it was the food that Jason had been making for her! She didn't know if it was something common in this world or if it was because Jason was just a very good cook, but the meals had been amazing!

Jason rolled up his sleeves with a smile and went to the kitchen. They had some meat today, so he decided he would make some burgers so she could eat them both this morning and later in the day. From what Jason heard, Gina might not be back till late in the afternoon, so Riyala would be alone at least till then.

As Jason worked in the kitchen, Riyala slowly got off the couch and walked barefoot toward the kitchen island. Riyala was now wearing a pair of Gina's jeans and Gina's t-shirt. But since Gina was so much more endowed than Riyala, the shirt was almost twice Riyala's size! Riyala pulled on the shirt a little. It was the first time she would be wearing something like this so she was still not comfortable with it. Especially since she was showing off so much skin to a man.

She leaned against the countertop and watched Jason moving around the kitchen. There was a serious look on Jason's face as he effortlessly made their breakfast and Riyala couldn't help but admit that Jason was a very desirable male. If Jason had been a Dragonborn prince, then the marriage proposals from families around the kingdom would have come in nonstop!

Growl~!

Riyala's stomach suddenly grumbled and Riyala blushed! Jason turned to her with a knowing smile and she tried her best to keep her prim and proper look on her face, although the blush dusting her cheeks completely ruined her effort.

"It'll be done soon."

Jason chuckled as he said this and Riyala nodded calmly before she spoke up.

"Uhm... I wanted to ask you something."

"Yeah?"

Jason glanced at Riyala with a low deep hum and Riyala spoke skeptically.

"You... aren't human, are you?"

Jason blinked in surprise before turning to give Riyala his full attention. How in the world did she manage to figure that out? Jason knew that they had never spoken about his origin before, so there was no way she would know that he wasn't a human. And he knew that Gina would never reveal his secrets to someone else without first asking him, so there was no way Riyala heard it from her. So she had to have gotten it from something else.

Jason wasn't worried that she knew since Jason wasn't really trying to hide his origin from Riyala, so he just smiled curiously while wiping his hand on a towel.

"And what makes you think I'm not human?"

Jason spoke while walking towards Riyala and she stood up straight and glanced into his eyes for a second before turning away shyly when she couldn't maintain the eye contact. She frowned slightly while speaking.

"Ever since I saw you, I felt like your power was different from what a human should feel like. Even if all the people in a world have different powers, there is an underlying similarity to the way their mana feels. In Radgan, we call it the Core Essence and it defines the general consciousness of a species. It usually allows you to know what species a person is just by feeling what their Core Essence is. The Dragonborn possess a different Core Essence from the Grigori race and the Grigori possess a different Core Essence from the Humans. Gina's Core Essence is smooth and very malleable. It tells me that humans have a unified sense of adaptability to them. Like they can adapt and survive in any situation no matter how bad things get. But you... you are different."

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC146: The Test

Chapter 146: The Test

"But you... you are different. Your Core Essence is nothing like a human's. It's strong and domineering. It doesn't try to adapt to an environment, instead, it forces an environment to adapt to it. And there is even more in there. Other Core Essences that aren't a part of the main Essence. And one of them is the same Essence I feel from my own people. The Core Essence of a Dragonborn. Are you... one of us?"

Riyala looked up at Jason once she was done talking. There was a seriousness in her eyes that told Jason she was genuinely curious, and Jason had to wonder just how much information he was really giving out from his mana alone. If it was this easy for Riyala to notice what he was just by reading his mana, then it'd be just as easy for a stronger opponent to do the same.

'I need to learn how to control this.'

This thought passed through Jason's mind and his eyes narrowed as he spoke to the system.

'Is there a way to hide my Core Essence?'

[The Core Essence is a part of every species' biological makeup. There is no known method for masking it and only those species with specific biological traits that allow them to mask their Essence are capable of it.]

The system's message was clear and Jason clicked his tongue quietly before shaking his head. Jason knew that the changes in his Core Essence was happening because the Magic Crystals he had been eating were changing his biological makeup and giving him skills, so he didn't need to think too much about the reason behind the changes. But he needed a way to make sure people weren't picking out his abilities from only a glance. The best course of action might be to find a new skill that would allow him to mask his mana and Core Essence. Once Riyala saw Jason narrow his eyes, she immediately tried to apologize since she thought that she had made him mad at her, but Jason stopped her with a small grin.

"It's fine, I'm not angry. I'm just surprised you were able to pick out my Core Essence so easily. You must've worked really hard to learn how to do that. But no, I'm not a Dragonborn. I've never even been to Radagan."

Jason turned back to the burgers and Riyala calmly watched him flip them over before she finally had to ask.

"If you aren't a Dragonborn, then can you tell me what world you are from?"

Jason's eyes narrowed at the burgers.

"My world doesn't exist anymore."

Riyala blinked in shock at the revelation and she immediately looked away in shame. Riyala was no stranger to the atrocities that happen in the Primordial Expanse. There were many worlds out there that had gone extinct simply because some stronger world decided they had to be destroyed. And there were even more worlds that were destroyed by internal conflict and greed. Riyala didn't need to know which one of these two possibilities caused Jason's world to be destroyed. All that mattered was that Jason was alone.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be. I barely knew most of my people and that was a long time ago. That's behind me now. Come on, the food's ready, eat up. There's more in the pot, so you can take some if you get hungry later. Gina should be back soon."

Jason cleaned his hands on the apron once again and began walking away with a smile and Riyala watched him go with a calm gaze. Even though Jason was smiling and acting like he wasn't affected by what they spoke about, Riyala could tell that he was actually hurt. No one would be happy knowing that their people were extinct.

'I shouldn't have asked.'

Riyala berated herself as she turned back to the burgers in front of her. But once she got a whiff of it, her stomach grumbled again and she blushed in slight embarrassment. Jason laughed from behind her as he said a final goodbye and left the house and Riyala decided that she needed to deal with her hunger before anything else!

'I'll find a way to apologize when he comes back.'

...

[The SMD Building]

The sound of loud chatter could be heard coming from every street leading up to the SMD building! The path leading up to the building entrance was literally packed with people. On one side, there were reporters and bloggers gathered together with flashing cameras and microphones as they gave their reports to those watching from home, and on the other side, there were hundreds of guild representatives who were either on the phone with their guild or talking to each other as they anticipated how the day was going to go!

The reason behind such an enormous crowd was because today was the one day of the month when the public would be getting a clear view of the next generation of Superhumans that would soon be joining the Guild Forces. The assessment day was seen as a big deal every single month due to how many promising new talents could be seen, and since the SMD allowed some of the more reputable guild representatives to enter the building and scout out the promising young talents, the reporters were also curious to see if any of the new superhumans would be joining any of the large guilds!

Vroom!

The sound of a car alerted all the reporters and guild representatives to the arriving Superhumans and they all turned their cameras to the large bus that arrived on the scene! The bus opened and many young teenagers began to emerge from it with wide eyes that looked around in awe!

The reporters went wild!

"Over here! Kids, over here! Give us a smile for the camera!"

"And behind me, you can clearly see the next generation of superhumans who will be taking their Superhuman Assessment test today! It is yet to be seen whether or not there will be some drama to unfold, but from what we can see so far, it appears that our lives are in good hands."

"The superhumans have finally arrived on the scene, chat! Can you believe these kids are going to be entering Gates soon!? They looked like lambs going to the slaughter!"

A beautiful girl wearing pink accessories and large cat ears spoke up from the side while bouncing excitedly and flashing her assets toward her phone camera.

"Hey, hey, star nation! It's your star girl here coming live to you from the SMD building nya~! The superhumans are here and they're all so beautiful and handsome! Oh my goodness, look at that boy, if I was still sixteen, I would have gobbled him up nya~! So handsome~!"

"Look over there, it's Henry!"

"Shit, it's really him! They said he was the highest graduating student from his set in Core City!"

"His Gift is amazing! He can control water like it's a part of him!"

"Yeah, I even heard he beat up one of the superhumans from Japan in the final exam! It was shown on national TV!"

The crowd slowly began to zero in their focus on one single boy who was walking ahead of all the other teenagers in the crowd. He was an effeminate-looking boy with a pretty face. He had long blond hair tied in a ponytail behind his head and dark purple eyes that seemed to glitter under the sun. His face was set into a cold mask and he didn't bother turning to give anyone attention as he headed straight for the entrance!

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC147: Not Bad At All!

Chapter 147: Not Bad At All!

This boy was Henry Ford, and he was a C Rank awakener and one of the most promising students to ever graduate from Core City! Since most of the people who awakened Gifts were still young teenagers, they were always taken to Core City to learn how to properly use their Gifts before they would then go back into society and decide if they wanted to continue on as superhumans or go back to school and finish their education.

Every teenager that was coming for the assessment had gone to Core City, and they had all decided that they weren't going to go back to school. Instead, they would join a guild and start diving into Gates immediately. After making that decision, they were mandated to go through the assessments so that both the government, as well as other guilds, would know their true power level. It was the results of this assessment that would either make or break your dream to dive into Gates. If you did poorly here, then it was unlikely that any guild would come to recruit you, but if you did well, then you would be sought out like a precious diamond!

And Henry was determined to stand out today. Henry came from a family of overachievers. His brother was one of the scientists who discovered how to extract energy from Magical Crystals. His sister was the first non-superhuman to enter a Gate with a team of researchers. His mother was a model who had featured in every major beauty and fashion magazine, and his father was the chief financial officer of a Fortune 500 company on Wall Street.

The family always took care of Henry and made sure he never lacked anything. They bought Henry every toy, car, phone, or vacation ticket that he wanted just to make him happy, but Henry always felt like something was missing from his perfect life. He wanted more! Something that he could brag about accomplishing all on his own! Who cares if he already had everything money could buy!? He deserved more than that!

And now that he was a superhuman, Henry was determined to finally get everything he wanted. He wasn't just going to stand out in this assessment, he was going to absolutely dominate everyone else! After passing the assessment, he would work his way up into the Enforcers before finally becoming the Director of the SMD! He was determined to be the very best! Nothing else would be enough as far as he's concerned!

'I'm going to overshadow that Jason no matter what!'

Henry's eyes narrowed as he thought about Jason. There was no way he was going to allow that bastard to take the spotlight away from him. When Henry heard about Jason awakening as an A Rank, he had been stunned into silence! It made no sense at all for a superhuman to awaken at such a level. But there was no doubt that it was true! Henry immediately knew that the reporters and guild recruiters would flock toward Jason once they saw him, but Henry didn't care. All Henry had to do was show that he had more potential than Jason. Jason might have awakened as an A Rank, but it didn't matter if Jason's growth was slow.

If Henry worked hard enough, he was sure he could surpass Jason eventually!

Vroom!

The sound of another vehicle arriving on the scene drew attention, and Henry turned around to see an immaculate Rolls Royce parking in the space their bus had just left. The Rolls Royce was pure white and it looked even fancier than the one Henry's father sometimes went to work in. Who the hell was this!? Henry knew that Jason wasn't rich enough to even afford a Rolls Royce, so there was no way it was him!

The reporters were equally curious about who was inside the car, and they turned their cameras to point at the person coming down only for their shock to increase when they saw the chubby boy coming out of the car!

Darren took off his sunglasses while posing like the protagonist of a cheesy action movie and looked around at all the people casting their gaze his way. He raised his hand to wave at them all with a wide smile on his face and a perverted glint shone in his eyes when they landed on the body of the blogger who was wearing the cat ears!

'72-38-60. Not bad. Not bad at all!'

Darren's lips spread into a perverted grin and the female blogger put her hands over her chest when she saw him looking at her like that! His gaze was so intense that it almost felt like he was trying to strip her with his eyes!

Darren finally seemed to snap out of his shock as he turned around and grabbed a large bag that a butler handed to him. Darren thanked the man and then bent to speak to his father through the window.

"I'll make you proud, Dad. I promise."

Darren's father smiled.

"See that you do that. And say hello to Jason Marc on my behalf. It's unfortunate I won't be able to meet him, but please tell him that my invitation for a meal is still open."

Darren nodded and watched the Rolls Royce drive away. Darren turned back to the other teenagers standing there and grinned at the girls excitedly. Darren couldn't believe he was here right now! He was actually going to become a real superhuman!

Over the past few years since Darren got back from Core City, there had been a serious debate between him and his parents about whether or not he should become a proper superhuman and dive into gates. Darren had always wanted to become a diver so that he would use his Gifts and grow properly, but his parents were terrified for him and forbade him from going into a Gate. His father wasn't very vocal about it and tried to reason with Darren and make him see sense, but Darren's mother was very vocal and adamant that there was no way she would ever allow her only son to go into a Gate and get himself killed!

But after what happened with Jared and the humiliation that his parents saw on the internet, his father realized that Darren was going to be looked down on his entire life if Darren didn't grow stronger. Darren had already joined the world of superhumans simply by awakening a Gift, so he had no choice but to grow stronger so people wouldn't try to walk over him! So his father finally changed his mind and told Darren that he could go for the assessment in order to become a superhuman—and that was how Darren ended up coming here.

It was all thanks to Jason and the situation that happened with Jared earlier! Darren was just finding more and more reasons to be grateful to the boss!

'But where's the boss? I thought he'd be here already. Doesn't he know the assessment starts soon?'

"Everyone, please come this way."

A woman's voice spoke up from the entrance to the SMD building and dragged people's attention to her. This woman was one of the SMD agents who was assigned to oversee the assessment. She was wearing a well-fitted skirt suit that showed off her figure, and she smiled at the teenagers as they all looked up at her.

"My name is Naomi and I'll be in charge of your assessment today. I hope you keep in mind that this is more than a test. It is an opportunity as well as a chance for you to show the world what you are made of. Today, you will become more than what you once were. You will become—"

VROOM!

The woman was suddenly cut off by the loud sound of a motorcycle heading towards the building!

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC148: Freak of Nature

Chapter 148: Freak of Nature

The SMD agent was suddenly cut off by the loud sound of a motorcycle heading towards the building! The moment the motorcycle's driver came into view, the reporters and guild representatives all turned away from each other and immediately began heading straight for him! It was Jason Marc!

Jason arrived on his bike and parked it to one side. He was wearing a black hoodie over a pair of jeans and a black T-shirt, and he also had black gloves covering both hands. Jason's attire and the boots he wore gave him a sort of bad-boy appearance that matched perfectly with his emotionless face, and the teenage superhumans waiting at the entrance couldn't help but stare in awe as he began walking toward them.

The reporters were a completely different story! They swarmed towards Jason immediately, and if not for the barricade keeping them away from the entrance, they would have slammed right into him!

"Mr. Jason! Mr. Jason, what do you think will be the result of your assessment? Do you think you'll still be an A Rank or will you be stronger?"

"Mr. Jason, what tactic do you plan to use in the Gate?"

"Do you think your ocular ability will be enough to help you fight off monsters?"

"Mr. Jason, give me a moment! Just a moment!"

"Nya! Jason is here! Say hello to the star nation nya~!"

The reporters were trying their best to get Jason's attention by shoving their microphones or cameras in his face, and the guild representatives on the opposite side were also completely focused on Jason as their calls and messaging became more intense. They knew there was no point in trying to recruit Jason until he had actually gotten a proper assessment, but they were already trying to get their bosses and guild leaders to give them an estimated figure to present to Jason so he could join their guild!

Jason didn't pay any attention to the crowd around him as his eyes slowly focused on the good-looking woman frowning down at him from the SMD building entrance. It was obvious that she had been giving some sort of speech before he came, and Jason waved at her to apologize for interrupting before he started moving towards the other teenagers.

"BOSS!"

A spirited shout came from Darren once Jason was close enough, and Jason raised a brow when he saw the chubby boy standing there! What the hell was this bastard doing here!? Jason watched as Darren ran up to him with his hands wide as if he wanted to give a hug, and Jason just put his hand on Darren's shoulder and told him to chill.

"Don't you dare hug me, you bastard; you're not my girlfriend. And what the hell are you even doing here? I didn't know you were coming for the assessment."

Darren beamed up at Jason!

"My father agreed to let me go Gate Diving! I'm going to become a proper Superhuman and join your guild!"

Jason's brow rose. Why the hell were the people around him always assuming the craziest things about what he would do in the future? Griselda was over there thinking that Jason would join her guild, and Darren was here thinking that Jason was planning on making his own guild! Did any of them ever think that maybe he just wasn't interested in being part of a guild at all!?

Jason sighed and gave Darren a small smile while patting him on the shoulder.

"Come on, let's get back to the others. I think we might've pissed off our guide already. Hey, what's your Gift? I don't think I've ever heard about it before."

Jason and Darren began walking back to the crowd of teenagers when Jason asked the last question, and Darren smiled smugly while raising his hand to his lips.

"It's a secret, boss! But don't worry, I already promised to only use it for good, so you can be sure that I won't do anything bad with it!"

Jason scoffed at that and decided he wasn't interested enough to force the truth out of Darren. Besides, they would all see each other's Gifts when the assessment starts, so he wasn't in a hurry to find out! As they got closer, Jason saw a pretty-looking blonde boy giving him the stink eye from within the crowd of teenagers, and Jason gave the boy a heavy stare in return! The boy immediately furrowed his brow and turned away.

Henry had been staring at Jason intensely as he tried to see what was so special about Jason that made everyone so interested in him. But the moment he laid eyes on Jason and felt Jason's mana, Henry had almost lost his mind! This was definitely not normal! Henry was a relatively good sensor because of his time in Core City. He knew what regular mana was like! The teenagers that had been in Core City with him all had differences in the strength of their mana signatures, but they all still had weak mana signatures since they were only newly awakened superhumans!

It was like the difference between a black belt and a yellow belt staring you down! No matter how tough a yellow belt might look, they would never have the same intensity as a black belt! Henry was already used to staring down yellow belts since their mana was only still developing and there was no intensity to it! As far as yellow belts went, Henry was one of the strongest in the world!

But Jason was no yellow belt! Jason had one of the most intense mana signatures that Henry had ever felt before! Henry couldn't even look at Jason for more than a few seconds without looking away! That was how fucking terrifying it was!

'There is no way that is a newly awakened superhuman! If he is newly awakened, then I'm nothing but an ant! He has to be lying! Maybe he is from the government?? Is he some freak experiment that they sent out into the real world to pretend to be human? That's the only way something like this would be possible!'

Henry was slowly losing his mind as these thoughts ran through his head, and he felt even more tense when Jason came to stand close to him along with Darren! Henry turned to his left slightly to glance at Jason, and when Jason nodded at him, Henry had to force out a small nod of his own so that he wouldn't look weak.

Henry decided that he was going to try to stay as far away from Jason as possible. This wasn't a battle for superiority anymore. There was no way he would be more powerful than this fucking freak of nature! Instead of trying to be better than him, it would be better for him to stay as far away from Jason as possible! According to some of the veteran superhumans who had gone through this assessment before, they were going to be split into various groups, and those groups would be graded based on both the group performance as well as the overall performance.

Guilds looked at both of those scores when choosing the superhumans they wanted to recruit, so Henry just had to make sure he wasn't put in the same group as Jason no matter what! If he was put in any other group, then he would be able to overperform and draw attention to himself, but if he was in Jason's group, then he was certain Jason would outshine him!

'I'm tired of living in the shadows! I need to get away from this bastard!'

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC149: Setting The Stage

Chapter 149: Setting The Stage

'I'm tired of living in the shadows! I need to get away from this bastard!'

While Henry was making a personal resolution to stay away from Jason, the woman, Naomi, who had been giving an announcement before Jason arrived, cleared her throat as she began talking again.

"We will now be heading in for your assessment, and you will be divided into groups according to a predetermined standard. Please, try to remain quiet and orderly in the building. There are various SMD agents and superhuman Enforcers working hard inside, so no level of rowdiness will be entertained. Am I understood?"

Naomi turned to give Jason a hard look when she finished talking, and she narrowed her eyes at him when she saw him shrug! Jason's arrival here had already made a bad impression on her, and from the way he was dressed, Naomi could tell that Jason was one of those rowdy bad-boy types who liked to strut around and cause issues for people with their very presence! Naomi already knew they were going to have issues with him before the assessment even started, so she would definitely keep her eyes on him!

The teenagers were murmuring and whispering when they heard Naomi say that there were going to be Enforcers in the building! Even though they were new to the superhuman world, the teenagers had also heard about the infamous Enforcers and the insane level of skill that was needed in order to become one of them! Other than this assessment, there was another separate assessment that the students had been told about. That assessment was far more difficult than this one and was meant for those superhumans who wanted to take a step higher in the superhuman world and become Enforcers.

Only one in a hundred superhumans ever pass that test and become Enforcers, but once you pass it, there was no doubt that you would become one of the Elites!

Naomi cleared her throat at the students, and their whispering finally calmed down as they all turned to her attentively. She looked over all of them and smiled slightly when she saw the young, naive, eager faces, but her smile died a brutal death when she turned to Jason's mature, bored look. Naomi frowned at him before shaking her head and turning around.

"Come on then, children. It is time for your assessment."

The doors leading into the building opened, and the teenagers followed after Naomi like ducklings following their mother. As they walked through the pristine-looking SMD building, the children couldn't hide their awe at how enormous it was! The grand-looking hall and the numerous SMD agents and Enforcers walking around drew their attention, and they became more and more excited the further they walked!

Jason, on the other hand, was bored. He had already been here before, so Jason didn't have any interest in looking around. Instead, Jason just walked with his hands in his pockets and tried his best not to let the boredom get to him. As Jason walked, he caught a pair of eyes looking at him from the side and he turned slightly to see a beautiful receptionist at the side giving him a coy grin before winking at him.

Jason scoffed and turned away, but his eyes immediately caught the eyes of another woman who was looking back at him while walking away. She was swinging her hips seductively, and Jason raised a brow while watching her go. Not bad.

The employees in the SMD building all recognized Jason from when he came here the last time, as well as from all the online pictures and videos they had seen of him, so there was hardly anyone in the building who didn't know him!

"Boss, are you seeing this!? The women are all looking at me!"

Darren whispered while leaning over to Jason with wide, disbelieving eyes, and Jason scoffed again! Darren was standing right beside Jason, so whenever a woman looked at Jason, it would look like she was also staring at Darren! Jason didn't want to burst Darren's bubble by telling him he was only imagining things, so he just ignored the boy and allowed him to enjoy his fake popularity for the time being.

"Hehehe~ Look at those boobs."

Darren suddenly started lagging behind the others when a particular woman with an impressive rack leaned forward to give Jason a deep stare, and Jason smacked Darren on the back of his head to snap him out of it!

Smack!

"Shit, boss! What was that for!?"

"Stop getting distracted by women, you idiot. Come on."

Jason didn't even bother turning around to make sure that Darren was following him. Jason knew that there were many women out there who would be more than willing to sleep with him if he showed even the slightest bit of interest. But Jason believed that you shouldn't allow yourself to get distracted by every woman you see.

Darren rubbed the back of his head while glancing at the woman's breasts again, and he gave one last perverted chuckle before he started jogging to catch up with Jason and the others! As they walked, Jason caught sight of a uniformed man walking towards the group at a brisk pace, and he raised a brow in surprise when he recognized him as Keith Ledger, the superhuman Enforcer who had escorted Jason the last time he was here.

Keith caught Jason's eyes from a distance, and he gave him a simple nod before looking away. The superhuman agents that were walking around made sure to walk faster so they didn't get in Keith's way, and all the women who had been giving Jason suggestive looks were suddenly completely focused on their work!

Naomi stopped leading the group when she saw Keith walk up to her, and she waited tensely as Keith spoke to her for a few seconds. Even though Naomi knew she had done nothing wrong, it was still impossible for her to remain calm while an Enforcer was standing right in front of her! The reputation the Enforces had built was just too terrifying to regular Superhuman! All the teenagers following behind Naomi could only stare in awe as they waited for Keith and Naomi to finish their conversation. Once they were done, Naomi nodded and continued on her way as Keith fell in line with the teenagers.

"It's an Enforcer. What's he doing here?"

"I don't know, but look how cool that uniform is. It's like something out of a fantasy game!"

"Hey, that's Keith. The Master of Sand! I heard he caught a superhuman criminal yesterday on the west side of the city! Some B-Rank called Raygun!!"

"I heard about that too! Agiel was there as well!"

"Man, I want to join the Enforcers!"

"Yeah, right. I heard they only take in high-level B Ranks and above."

"But we just awakened! We can still grow!"

"We awakened as F Ranks, but I heard Keith awakened as a high-level D Rank and became a C Rank in less than a month! Hell, Commander Agiel awakened as a fucking C Rank and she was already a B Rank in half a year! Your awakening level determines a lot about how far you'll go, so we don't stand a chance!"

"Aww man!"

Jason was barely paying attention to the chatter from the teenagers around him. Instead, he wondered what Keith was doing there and if it had anything to do with the conversation they had with the female Director of the SMD earlier. The group went up an elevator, and they got to the thirtieth floor before they got off and entered a large white hallway. The hallway was large enough to fit everyone without anyone needing to squeeze in tight, and they followed in a group as Naomi headed for a large double door at the end of the hall. She turned to them before opening it and spoke.

"Please try to maintain your distance at all times. If you get too close, then you will be dragged in."

After that cryptic message that left some people wondering what Naomi was talking about, Naomi finally opened the large doors and the teenagers all gasped in awe.
