STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC150: The Santos Twins II

Chapter 150: The Santos Twins II

Naomi finally opened the large doors and the teenagers all gasped in awe.

The room was extremely large, and it took up the entire length and breadth of the building floor! There were multiple seats on one side arranged like chairs in a lecture hall, and beside the chairs were a few men and women in lab coats who were taking readings and writing things down on pieces of paper. And opposite the scientists, on the other side of the room, was a large Red Gate.

The Red Gate swirled and churned with otherworldly power, and all the students couldn't help but stare in awe and shock at the sight in front of them! There was an intense wind blowing through that side of the room where the Red Gate was, and the students all knew this was the suction property they had seen from other Gates. If they got too close to the gate, it would easily drag them in!

Jason looked at the Red Gate in slight surprise, and the only thought on his mind at that moment was how the hell they managed to get a Red Gate all the way up here! Jason had heard about Gates opening inside buildings before, but this Red Gate was too perfectly positioned for it to have just appeared here randomly! And the fact that it appeared at the exact moment when they were going to be doing their assessment only made it look more suspicious!

"Did they open a Dimensional Tear?"

Jason asked this to the system, and the system came back with an answer immediately.

[Yes, the system believes that this Red Gate was artificially created by forcing open a Dimensional Tear and leaving it for a sufficient amount of time in order for it to develop into a Gate.]

Jason hummed at the explanation and turned away from the gate. What the system just said told Jason that the government knew a lot more about Gates than what they had been telling the public all along. When Jason was just a regular human, he thought that Gates were something that only appeared randomly, and he was sure that everyone else believed the same thing since the government never tried to educate the public on Dimensional Tears or the existence of other worlds. But now, seeing all the things that the government was involved in, he knew the public was being kept in the dark on purpose.

Jason could only wonder how many otherworldly beings had come to Earth and how the government managed to hide their existence for so long. Jason wouldn't be surprised if there was some lab filled with aliens that the government was experimenting on like some sort of torture chamber!

Jason chuckled at that thought, but he wouldn't know just how close he was to the truth until much later.

Jason's eyes narrowed as he suddenly turned to the side when he felt a pair of eyes staring at him. On the other side of the room, where the scientists were standing, there were five men and three women who didn't look like they belonged there. They were all wearing regular civilian clothing and had bored looks on their faces as they waited for the teenagers to stop gawking at the Red Gate.

However, Jason was able to pick out two people immediately he had met once before. The brother and sister pair that Jason had been introduced to by the female Director of the SMD, Millicent. Ricardo and Rosa Santos were staring at Jason from a distance. Ricardo was leaning back against a table with his leg crossed, and there was a small grin on his face as he stared Jason down while Rosa looked slightly curious and her eyes were narrowed in interest toward Jason.

Jason kept his eyes on them for a few seconds before he turned away. He knew that there was something off about that pair, and he was going to have to watch his back when he went into the Gate for the assessment. There was no doubt that they would try something stupid.

Naomi spoke up from in front of the students while telling the men and women standing with the scientists to come closer.

"Today, your assessment is going to be simple. You will be required to go into the Red Gate and kill as many Magic Beasts as you can."

"What!?"

"Really, they want us to kill Magic Beasts already!?"

"I just learned how to use my powers!

"I'm still an F Rnak! I can't handle monsters in a Gate!"

"They'll kill us!"

Some of the students began to murmur in shock once they heard what Naomi said! Although Jason was very experienced, the same could not be said for the other new awakeners! Most of the people who awakened would go to Core City for a short time where they would barely fight against any monsters for their entire time there! They were all low-ranked and they didn't even have the tiniest hope of standing up to a monster yet! The new awakeners all knew that trying to kill a Magic Beast with their Gifts that were barely E to D Rank would be suicide!

Naomi looked over the group for a few seconds and waited for them to calm down before she spoke again.

"I understand you are all surprised, but please try to listen to everything I have to say before making any comments. Now, like I was saying, you will be scored based on how many Magic Beasts you can kill, but that will not be your only method of grading. I never said you had to kill the Magic Beasts on your own. As new superhumans, you will be joining a guild, and you will be required to work in teams to dive into Gates. Therefore, you will also be graded on how well you work as a team with the other superhumans as well as how skillful you are at utilizing your Gift to its fullest potential. These SMD agents have volunteered to stand in as judges and overseers for your assessment. Please keep in mind that they are there for your protection, so make sure you obey everything they tell you to do regardless of your personal opinion on the matter."

Naomi glanced around at the teenagers and made sure they all understood what she was saying. Her eye lingered on Jason a little longer than it did on the others, and Jason didn't bother reacting to her words since he was too busy paying attention to the siblings. Ricardo and Rosa were standing with the other SMD agents, but they were speaking in hushed whispers while glancing at Jason.

Ricardo was giving Jason a grin with his hands folded, and Rosa was leaning close to Ricardo and talking to him while glancing over at Jason every now and then. They were far enough that Jason couldn't hear what they were saying, but the longer Ricardo heard his sister talk, the more strained his smile got.

"Are you listening to me?"

Rosa whispered to Ricardo when she didn't get a response from him, and Ricardo huffed while narrowing his eyes dangerously.

"I heard what you said, but it makes no sense. Why should we call off the mission?"

"Can't you feel what I'm feeling?"

Ricardo raised his brow at his sister. She was still standing just behind him with her shy demeanor since she didn't want the others to pay much attention to her, but there was a rare serious look on her face as she glanced over at Jason. Ricardo knew that Rosa had always been the more sensitive one out of both of them. She could feel mana better than he could since she spent so much time training on how to move her mana. But her actions right now were just too strange.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC151: Walking Into Danger

Chapter 151: Walking Into Danger

Rosa had been feeling like there was something seriously wrong from the moment she laid eyes on Jason! The first time they met, Rosa could tell that Jason was only an A Rank. His power and mana had given off the aura of an A Rank, so there was no doubt that they were at the same level of strength. But now that she was seeing him again, Rosa was no longer sure if she could believe her own senses. Because unlike before when Jason was only a low-level A Rank, Rosa was now certain that Jason was far stronger than that! He had to be at least an S Rank!

But it just didn't make any sense!

Superhumans didn't grow at such an absurd rate, and there was certainly no way a superhuman who awakened only a few days ago would get this strong this quickly! Jason's power level now was far beyond what Rosa had felt, and there was no doubt that he was stronger than both she and her brother! Rosa had been trying to find any reasonable explanation all this time. She even tried to see if she had made a mistake in sensing Jason's power, but there was no doubt about it. She was certain that Jason was now an S Rank!

Rosa immediately told her brother what she felt from Jason and warned him that they should call off the plan, but Ricardo was not having any of that. He had been waiting for this chance for long enough and he wasn't going to change everything just because of a 'feeling'.

"Just focus on the mission and make sure you don't make any mistakes. Who cares if he is stronger now? There are two of us and one of him, and our Gifts are more than enough to cover any gaps in strength. Focus."

Ricardo turned to give his sister a glare and she mellowed out and ducked her head before nodding along. She wanted to tell Ricardo that they were making a mistake by going into this without getting more information, but she was not bold enough to speak back to her brother and she could only look away meekly while following his orders. Besides, even though she was worried, she also knew that her brother was right about their Gifts covering any gaps in strength. As long as they don't make any mistakes, the missions should still go smoothly!

Jason watched the siblings from the other side of the room and he frowned while wondering what they were talking about. But his attention was dragged away as Keith came to stand close to him. Keith spoke up in a low tone so that only he and Jason could hear what was said.

"You've grown stronger."

These were the first words Keith said and Jason just hummed without bothering to comment. Keith eyes Jason for a few seconds before turning back to glance at the twins with narrowed eyes.

"I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but you should be careful in there."

Jason hummed.

"You can't do anything about it?"

Jason asked this in a curious tone and Keith grimaced slightly.

"No, the director was adamant about the groupings, so you'll be paired with them. My brother tried pulling some strings to allow me to join the group, but the director was thorough about not allowing any Enforcer into assessments."

Jason's eyes narrowed.

"If they attack me, you know I'll kill everyone involved, don't you?"

Keith gave Jason a hard look before he turned away. Keith was not going to stand there and tell Jason that he was not within his rights to be angry, but that didn't mean Keith could condone killing anyone. It would be better to let the law handle things.

"Liam is working on the legal proceedings, but we can't do anything unless they act out of line. If you speak up now, then the SMMd will put the assessment on hold for possible endangerment."

Keith had actually come here with a plan in mind to stop the assessment from happening. From what Keith felt the last time he met with Jason, he knew that Ricardo and Rosa were both as strong - if not stronger - than Jason was. But Keith had stopped his plan after he sensed the new level of power Jason wielded. It was completely different from what Keith sensed last time, and Keith could tell that Jason was now stronger than the siblings.

This simple fact was what made KEiht wait and watch to see how things play out. Keith knew how important this assessment was for most of these new awakeners and he didn't want to stop the assessment unless there was a real risk of Jason getting hurt.

Jason gave the twins a critical look while asking.

"You think they can hurt me?"

"I don't know. I've never seen them fight before, finding out their Gifts is above my clearance. But from the looks of things, they're experienced in battle."

Jason eyed the siblings for a moment before he smiled.

"There's no need to stop the assessment. If we stop them now, then they'll just try again some other time. Besides, I'd like to talk to them face-to-face to find out who's behind them, and I wouldn't want anyone to stop me from getting the information I want."

Keith's eyes narrowed.

"If you kill them in cold blood, then I will come for you."

"Cold blood? No, no. It's nothing like that. This is called self-defense, Mr. Enforcer."

Jason's smile became dangerous and before Keith could say anything else, Naomi spoke up again.

"We'll call out your names in groups of three and the agent that will be in charge of your assessment. When you hear your name, gather up with your group members."

Naomi brought out a clipboard to begin calling out names and the teenagers all shuffled about nervously as they waited for their names to be called.

At the side, Henry was standing with his arms folded and his eyes narrowed in concentration. There was a nervousness in his body as he waited for his name to be called and he prayed to every god out there that he wouldn't somehow be paired up with Jason.

"Henry Ford."

Naomi called his name and Henry jolted slightly in surprise. He looked over at where Naomi was pointing and he nodded before heading towards the pair of agents standing there. Naomi looked at the clipboard and then called out,

"Darren White."

Henry snorted as the chubby boy grinned happily and headed over to stand beside him. Henry didn't really care about the boy and didn't mind having him on his team so long as he could pull his own weight! The only person that Henry cared about was Jason! Henry prayed to all the gods up there! Please don't let him be part of his team! Please! He couldn't have—

"Jason Marc."

Fuck!

The room grew silent all of a sudden as everyone turned to look at Henry and Henry realized in shock that he had actually shouted out that curse! He flushed in slight embarrassment before composing himself and looking away calmly. The room slowly moved back into motion and Naomi directed Jason to where Darren and Henry were standing.

Jason walked over and nodded to Henry before he raised a brow as Darren shouted loudly how excited he was to be doing the assessment with his 'boss'!

Henry put all his effort into making sure that he and Jason didn't interact at all and he ended up just watching as Naomi called out the other names. Once she was done calling out the names, Naomi told the instructors to go to their students and Henry raised a brow when he saw two agents coming towards them. Every other group had one, but there were two for them?

"Bratza, young ones! My name is Ricardo and this here is my sister, Rosa! We're going to have a lot of fun together!"

Henry could immediately tell that the male instructor, Ricardo, was a lot more expressive and jovial than his sister. He spoke with a slight Mexican accent, but he had an American appearance, so Henry could only guess that he had lived in Mexico for some time. The other member of the pair, the woman named Rosa, was far more reserved and she didn't give anything more than a simple nod as a greeting.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC152: Shocking Revelation

Chapter 152: Shocking Revelation

Rosa was constantly hiding behind her brother and allowing him to give all the introductions and instructions, and from the way they carried themselves, Henry could tell that they were used to this dynamic.

'But then, why the hell is Jason looking at them like that?'

Henry glanced to his side and he felt his brow furrow at the intense look that Jason was leveling at the siblings. There was some sort of tension between the three of them and Henry had no idea why. Did they know each other from before?

"We'll only be standing back to allow you to handle most of the Magic Beasts, but we'll step in if there are any issues you can't handle. So relax, bratza! And let's all try to get along!"

Ricardo grinned at the three students and Henry saw Jason's eyes narrow before a dangerous smile appeared on his face. It was at that moment that Henry decided he wasn't interested in finding out what was going on. That smile on Jason's face was enough to tell Henry that he didn't want to get involved here!

Naomi gave some last-minute instructions to the groups and told the instructors to look after their group members before they were ushered forward to the Red Gate.

The groups entered the gate in the order that they were called and it wasn't long before Jason's group was going into the Gate. Jason kept his eyes on the siblings as they walked ahead of them and Jason knew without a shadow of a doubt that these two were not going to walk out of the Red Gate alive. They would attack him and Jason would kill them. The only question now was when they would attack.

Jason put his hands in his pocket and sighed in resignation as he followed the others, and the moment he stepped through the Red Gate, the system brought up a new mission tab.

——

New Mission: Discover the Mastermind behind the Sibling Attack!

The user is being targeted by the assassin pair, Ricardo and Rosa Santos! Their track record has left many newly awakened superhumans dead and they have now set their eyes on killing the user. Foil their plan and discover the mastermind controlling them from the shadows to complete this mission!

Rewards:

+1000 Kill Points

+1 S Rank Artefact

——

Jason read through the mission tab quickly and he closed it and turned his attention back to the Red Gate that he had just entered into. The group had appeared on top of a small hill overlooking a lush forest below. The forest was filled with tall trees with hundreds of thousands of vines threading across them like snakes, and every person there could hear the sound of wild monkeys crying loudly within the forest.

Ding!

Another new mission suddenly popped up in front of Jason and Jason turned to glance at it!

——

New Mission: Clear the Red Gate [Spider-Monkey's Coven]!

The user has entered the Red Gate [Spider-Monkey's Coven] and is now being targeted by the territorial Magic Beasts living within the Gate. Clear the Gate and kill the Gate Boss in order to complete this mission.

Rewards:

+500 Kill Points

The user will gain [1] A Rank artefact

——

"Spider-monkeys? What the hell is a spider-monkey?"

Jason felt his brow furrow when he saw the name of the monsters in this gate and the only thought in his head was if the spider-monkey was a spider with monkey features or a monkey with spider features. But from the sounds Jason could hear coming from the forest below, Jason guessed that it was the latter.

"We'll separate into groups and hunt at different parts of the forest. You don't need to fear being killed by any monsters. The instructors are all stronger than the Gate Boss, so they can protect you no matter the case. Your instructor has total command over your actions while you are in this gate, so follow their orders to remain safe."

One of the instructors, a young man who had a commanding aura around him, turned around and spoke to all the teenagers. He looked around and made sure that the teenagers understood how serious the situation was. If they didn't follow instructions, then they could easily be killed in this Gate since the monsters were stronger than most of them.

The teenagers all nodded seriously to the man and then they began to follow their instructors as they moved to different parts of the forest.

"Bratza! Follow me, younglings!"

Ricardo spoke up enthusiastically as he headed away from the hill and Jason, Darren, and Henry followed the pair of siblings at a sedate pace. The forest was extremely large and the only thing Jason could use to properly describe it was the Amazon jungle. There was a large water source running through the center of the forest in the distance, and no matter where you turned, you'd always hear the sound of one foreign Magical Beast or another.

The group of five walked for a few minutes before they finally got to a part of the forest that the siblings thought was good enough. They stopped and Ricardo turned to them and spoke up.

"We are going to spread our mana out to attract the magical beasts here, so get ready. Don't worry if you can't deal with them on your own, we'll be right here to help. Just do your best."

Ricardo spoke with a wide grin on his face and if not for the fact Jason knew that this bastard was here to kill him, then Jason would have thought that Ricardo was just another concerned adult who was looking out for the younger superhumans in his charge.

Darren and Henry immediately began to prepare. Henry grabbed two large water bottles that had been inside his bag and he attached them to some loops hanging on his belt. Henry's ability allowed him to control water to masterful degrees, but Henry was still only a newly awakened superhuman, so he didn't have enough power to extract water from the atmosphere and use it as a weapon. Instead, Henry carried water around with him and he used that to launch attacks.

Darren also dropped his bag and he grinned widely while cracking his knuckles. Jason raised a brow toward him and wondered what he was going to do, but nothing could have prepared Jason for what happened next.

Darren grabbed a pair of dark shades from behind his back and put them on, and then he pressed a button on the side of the glasses that made it light up in a strange green light. Darren then spread his mana out over his bag and the bag shifted for a moment before it opened up to unleash ten large drones that flew out in perfect order.

Jason watched as the drones formed a perfect circle around Darren and Darren grinned and struck a pose.

Darren White had one of the rarest abilities known to superhumans. Most superhumans had abilities that allowed them to interact with nature in one way or another. They could all control either fire, water, earth, or air to some degree and that was what they used in battle. But Darren was different. His ability had so much potential that even the SMD had been reaching out to his family and asking him to join the Enforcers for a while now. However, his father was adamant about not allowing his son to use his abilities for the government since their family never got involved in politics. And his family all knew that in the wrong hands, his ability could lead to the downfall of the technological age.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC153: Technoman

Chapter 153: Technoman

Darren White was a Technopath. A superhuman with the unique ability to mentally communicate with and control all forms of technology.

The drones all around him were special machines that he had created himself. Each one of them was fitted with a high-level medium-sized Magic Crystal from a Disaster Rank Red Gate Boss! The crystals powered the drones as well as the lasers that Darren had built for each one of them, and they were his primary weapon for fighting monsters in the Gate!

For most superhumans, getting so many medium-sized crystals would have been impossible since they were so expensive, but Darren's family was so rich that he was able to buy all of this using only the pocket money he received for the past few months!

Darren chuckled when he saw the curious looks on the faces of the others and hit his fist on his chest grandly!

"Never fear, for Darren the great and mighty is here! You must all be shocked by my power, but I have sworn to only use my abilities for good! I shall follow in the path of my idol! The great Technoblade! I. Am. Technoman!"

Jason put his hand on his face and groaned! For a moment, Jason had actually been impressed by the drones and how slick they looked, but the moment Darren opened his mouth, all that was thrown right out the window! It should be a fucking crime to say stuff like that so confidently!

Darren kept his pose for a few more seconds before he finally turned to Jason quickly!

"How was that, boss? I was cool, right!?"

Jason gave Darren a deadpan expression and Darren deflated comically! Darren really thought that was a cool introduction! He even kept his abilities a secret for so long just so he could introduce them so epically! Jason saw the expression on Darren's face and sighed when he realized that Darren was actually feeling bad that Jason didn't think it was cool. He just patted Darren on the back and spoke in resignation.

"Alright, alright. You were a little cool."

Darren immediately puffed up again at that bit of praise and Jason laughed slightly at how quickly his mood changed. What a crazy bastard.

"Ohh, so you're a technopath, bratza! That's amazing! I have never seen anyone control technology before!"

Ricardo spoke up from the other side of the clearing while looking up at the multiple drones circling overhead. He stretched out his senses to see what was powering the drones and was surprised when he noticed a decent-sized Magic Crystal inside each one of them! Those crystals would have been at least three hundred thousand dollars each! That meant these ten drones cost more than three million dollars altogether!

"Ooh~ And you even fitted them with magic-powered lasers! You're really rich, aren't you bratza!?"

Darren gave a closed-eye chuckle while rubbing his finger under his nose pridefully. But Jason could see a slight blush on his face as he enjoyed the bit of praise from the older superhuman.

At the side, Henry was looking up at the drones with a completely different expression on his face!

'What the hell? What the actual fucking hell!? What was the meaning of this shit!?'

Henry had already been feeling horrible that he would be overshadowed by Jason in his assessment, but he was willing to overlook Jason's involvement since he was certain that he would at least be the second-best in their group! There was no way this chubby boy would be able to outshine him! So what the hell was this!?

What the fuck were those drones and how in the world was something like this allowed!? It was cheating! Fucking cheating! Henry knew he was stronger than Darren! He was far more powerful than that chubby bastard! If they were to fight without their gifts right now, Henry would win ten times out of ten! But those drones were cheating! How in the world could anyone fight against ten drones that could shoot magical lasers!?

Henry looked down at his two water bottles and suddenly felt an intense surge of uselessness pass through him! Maybe he should have asked his parents to buy him something fancier?

He turned to glance at Darren and Jason who were talking to each other and he knew that he had truly lost here. He just wanted this entire thing over with already. This was some bullshit!

At the side, Darren looked Jason over with a curious gaze before asking him what he was going to use to fight. Darren remembered that Jason had some ocular ability, so was he going to fight as a brawler?

"Oh, right."

Jason suddenly spoke up like he just remembered he needed to use a weapon to fight and waved his hand to the side and caught a longsword that appeared beside him. Darren's eyes widened in shock when he saw the sword! It was an intricate blade with a fantasy design that Darren didn't recognize! The blade was pure silver with a black pommel that had the structure of a dragon's head. Darren had stars in his eyes as he looked it over!

"Did you get that from an artefact dealer, boss!? And where did it come from!? Do you have a spatial ring!? Oh my god, it has a dragon-based design! Can I hold it, please!"

Darren was practically salivating at the sight of the weapon and Jason gave it to Darren and allowed him to look it over. Darren grunted once he collected the sword and cried out as the sword tip fell to the ground with a thud! It was so fucking heavy!

"I-I can't lift it, boss!"

Darren cried out with a red face and Jason just laughed as he took the sword back. Jason was an S Rank and Darren was only an E Rank, so their difference in strength was far too great. While Jason didn't feel any weight from the sword, Darren felt like he was trying to lift a freaking anvil!

Jason was still not an expert at handling bladed weapons, but he knew that the monsters in this Red Gate were weak, so he didn't have to exert himself too much to handle them. One or two strikes would be enough to kill any one of them.

Ricardo and Rosa both eyed the sword Jason had with critical gazes and after a while they both determined that it was not a danger to their mission. Ricardo clapped his hands and then spoke up.

"Since we're all ready. Time to call on the beasts!"

Doon!

Ricardo spread his mana out in a wide wave that shot through the forest and the silence in the forest was suddenly assaulted by the sound of a loud monkey cry! The cries grew louder and more intense as time passed and it wasn't long before the first of the monsters broke through the foliage and reached the group! The spider monkey was a terrifying-looking thing. It had the upper body of a monkey and the lower body of a spider with eight legs. Its skin was black and it had six eyes arranged along its forehead. When it cried out, its sharp elongated fangs were visible for everyone to see!

"Holy shit, it's ugly as fuck!"

Darren cried out from behind once he saw the monster that broke through the foliage and Jason laughed. Ten more monsters appeared from the trees and Jason spoke up calmly.

"Darren, how much damage can your drones do?"

"T-They can cause serious wounds to D and C rank beasts, but I don't know if they can hurt a B Rank."

Jason nodded and turned to Henry.

"Can you fire projectiles with your water?"

Henry was shocked that Jason would talk to him so suddenly, but he composed himself quickly and nodded.

"Yeah."

"Alright, Darren focus your fire on any beast that breaks off from the pack and keep them in front of us. Henry, use your water to handle the monsters far away."

Jason gave out orders as he started walking forward.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC154: Group Dive

Chapter 154: Group Dive

"Alright, Darren, focus your fire on any beast that breaks off from the pack and keep them in front of us. Henry, use your water to handle the monsters far away."

Jason gave his orders and he began walking forward without bothering to know if they would listen or not, but the other two quickly fell in line as they drew on their gifts. Darren arranged his drones in a straight line and he began ordering them to fire quick blasts that tore through the air and struck true against the monsters!

Twoom! Twom! Twoom!

Each blast was a red outline of pure energy and the spider-monkeys could barely react before they were assaulted mercilessly! Each blast was enough to kill a D rank and cause serious damage to a low-level C rank, but the monsters here were around C rank, so it only caused limited damage to them! But that didn't mean it didn't hurt them!

Each laser blast caused enough pain in the monsters that forced them away from their position and made them head back towards the rest of the group to them from circling the superhumans!

Henry drew on the water in his bottles and they surged to his side like miniature tidal waves! He spread his arms and divided the water into hundreds of smaller particles before he squeezed his hands into fists and forced the water to freeze into icicles! The icicles had sharpened edges and Henry didn't hesitate to thrust them forward to attack the spidermonkeys that were further away!

Woosh!

The icicles flew forward like bullets and since Henry was a C rank as well, his ability was more than enough to hurt them! The icicles dug into the skins of the spidermonkeys and they all cried out in pain as they suffered serious injuries!

The spidermonkeys in front of the pack kept running forward without bothering to look back and see what was happening, but they were stopped in their tracks as they saw Jason heading for them with one hand in his pocket. Jason had a bored and nonchalant expression on his face, and it looked like he was about to do his taxes rather than fight in a Red Gate!

The spidermonkeys recognized the nonchalance in Jason's eyes and they saw it as a form of mockery! The monsters weren't smart enough to recognize how outmatched they were, so they screamed in anger before charging him!

Slash!

One slash of the sword was all it took, and three heads fell to the ground! Red blood dripped down the edge of Jason's sword and Jason flicked it calmly to get rid of the dripping blood before he turned to the remaining monkey and continued walking once again.

The spidermonkeys all screeched and screamed in fright when they saw how easily their brothers had been killed and some of them turned and tried to run!

Slash!

Slash!

Slash!

Slash!

——

The user has killed [7] Spider-Monkeys

+210 Kill Points

——

Jason continued his killing spree without bothering to take his second hand out of his pocket! Darren's magic lasers continued their assault on the fleeing spidermonkeys and forced them to return to Jason's path and Henry kept firing his projectiles to injure and kill as many of the spidermonkeys as he could!

The three superhumans had never worked together before, but Jason's orders from before the fight began had changed everything! The existence of a clear attack pattern allowed them to focus on doing one thing very well and this meant that none of them were getting in the other's way! Both Darren and Henry recognized that they were only working this well because they allowed Jason to take command!

There were a lot of spidermonkeys, but Jason could tell nearly immediately that they were nowhere near as powerful as the Moonlight Wolves he fought in his first Red Gate. They had high agility and stamina, but their durability and strength were absolutely horrible. The spidermonkeys used a combination of webs and rocks to attack Jason from a distance while clinging to the trees and Jason dodged around the attacks easily as he simply continued killing any monster that got too close.

The spidermonkeys finally seemed to realize that they were seriously outclassed after more than twenty of them had been killed and Jason watched in slight amusement as they began trying to run away into the forest.

"I got this!"

Darren suddenly shouted from behind Jason and Jason turned to watch as all the drones flew towards the fleeing monkeys! The drones opened a compartment located under them and many tiny balls fell out into the forest below!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The forest suddenly lit up in massive explosions that shook the ground under their feet! The fleeing monkeys were forced back into the clearing as the flames from the explosions surged to life and Jason couldn't even hide how impressed he was.

'What else can these drones do?'

Jason was curious about the drones, but he put that thought to the side for now since the spidermonkeys were back in his path once again. Jason finally took his second hand out of his pocket and he summoned the A rank dagger that he had used in the Orange Gate. He held the dagger in a reverse grip while keeping the sword in his right hand and then he shot forward to meet the spidermonkey!

BOOM!

The ground under Jason's feet rumbled from the force of his movement and the spidermonkeys couldn't even react before Jason was right on top of them!

Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash!

Jason danced across the battlefield like a silver whirlwind! Jason was still not a professional fighter by any measure, but there was no need to be a professional when your opponents were this much weaker than you! Jason simply slashed through the air anytime a spidermonkey was close to him and it didn't take any effort for him to kill it!

Blood arced through the air like a waterfall and it wasn't long before the cries of the beasts died down to deafening silence. Jason stood in the middle of more than twenty dead beasts and he looked around emotionlessly at their corpses.

Jason released a calm sigh before turning back to look at the others.

"That was awesome, boss!"

Darren shouted in praise as he waved his hands excitedly and Jason just chuckled as he turned to glance at the siblings who were still standing at the side. Ricardo had a grin on his face, but Rosa was giving Jason more a calculating look, as if she was trying to figure out something about him.

Ricardo clapped his hands once more as he looked at all three boys.

"That was very good, bratza! There aren't any more beasts in this area, so we'll be diving deeper into the Gate! Maybe we can even find and kill the boss before the other teams reach us, bratza!"

Darren grinned excitedly and Henry nodded along while cleaning some sweat that accumulated on his chin. This was the first time that Henry would be going into a Gate, so he was losing stamina a lot faster from using his gift. Henry looked over at Darren and he frowned when he saw that Darren was not as tired as he was. But it was understandable since Darren wasn't an emitter like him. Even though it was a very unique case, Darren was a supporter type whose powers centered around technology, and sending his mana out to the machines was not nearly as exhausting as emitting your mana and using it to control water. Darren would feel a lot more mental fatigue from using his gift than actual loss in stamina.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC155: Schrodinger's Fog

Chapter 155: Schrodinger's Fog

The five of them began to move through the forest at a quick pace. Jason remained in front as the vanguard since he had the highest defense and offense out of all of them. Darren provided damage control and support from the back since his drones were good for driving the spider monkeys to one part of the forest or another, and Henry was the long-range support that killed spidermonkeys far away so they didn't overwhelm Jason.

Jason didn't really need any support, but he appreciated the help from the others, and whenever Darren gave an enthusiastic laugh or shout after a successful battle, Jason found himself chuckling along.

The spidermonkey's coven was filled with beasts, and Jason slowly lost count of just how many they had killed the longer the day went. The five of them went further into the forest as time passed, but they still hadn't met anyone else for some time now.

"Hah~ I'm fucking tired."

Darren exclaimed from the side as he fell back on his ass. Henry was also breathing heavily with his hands on his knees, and both of them could tell that their mana was very low. Henry's mana capacity was higher than Darren's, but Henry had to use his mana to constantly shoot and resummon the water from his bottle. Darren's mana was used only to tell his drones what to do, and the large magical crystal he put in the drones did most of the heavy lifting, so Darren's mana was almost at the same level as Henry's.

Jason, on the other hand, didn't look any different from when he first came into the gate. He was still holding the sword in one hand, and the other hand was back in his pocket since he returned the dagger to his Alternate Dimension. His eyes looked around calmly, and it wasn't until a few seconds later that he finally spoke.

"Where are the instructors?"

Both Darren and Henry froze once they heard that. Darren immediately started to look around curiously to see if he would spot Ricardo or Rosa, but no matter how much he looked around, he couldn't see them. Henry frowned as he also tried to find them, but there was no one there! Did they get lost in the forest?

"I just saw them a few minutes ago. Did they get lost while we were fighting?"

Darren spoke up with a worried tone, and Jason raised his hand as he spread his senses around to see if he would find any sign of them.

[Predator's Gaze] has been activated.

"Hey, what's that smoke?"

Henry suddenly spoke up when he noticed a strange fog rolling out from the trees and coming towards them. The fog was black and mysterious, and it was moving far too quickly for them to do anything before it was right on top of them!

Darren cried out in shock when the world suddenly darkened into blackness, and Henry also felt fear fill his heart as he looked around and called out!

"Darren! Jason! Can you hear me!?"

There was no response from anyone, and Henry felt his heart rate spike immediately when he realized that he could barely hear himself! He couldn't see anything, and he couldn't hear anything either! It was almost like he had lost all his senses! What was going on!?

Jason was standing still a few meters away from Darren, but he couldn't hear a single word that was being said. He looked around with his [Predator's Gaze], and his eyes narrowed when he didn't pick out anything around him. What the hell? Was the fog actually blocking his eyes?

Jason's skill, [Predator's Gaze], was a B Rank skill that allowed him to see through objects, see across far distances, and pierce through most illusions in his path. It was a very useful skill that would have been helpful against any enemy in a Red Gate. But that was the limit of its strength! The [Predator's Gaze] was a B Rank skill that could only perform up to the level of a B Rank opponent, and at that moment, Jason was facing off against something that was higher than B Rank.

The Santos siblings were a very special pair of assassins.

They had both been born and raised in Mexico to abusive parents who sold them off the moment they discovered they had superpowers. They were sold to an agency known as the Night Crawlers, and this agency had developed multiple superhumans into trained killers that would sell their services and anonymity to the highest bidders.

Over the past nine years, the Santos twins had killed more than a hundred different people across the world. These people ranged from regular humans to superhumans who were in ranks as high as S. And the only way they were able to get away with these killings so perfectly and silently each time was because of the special ability that they both possessed.

The brother, Ricardo Santos, was an emitter-type superhuman whose special ability allowed him to emit a special form of black fog from his body. This black fog was made up of pure mana, and it gave Ricardo the power to create an alternate dimension separated from the real world. In this alternate dimension, there was no form of communication that worked and none of the five senses that humans possessed could be used either.

Touch, sight, hearing, smell, taste. They were all destroyed. The only people capable of feeling or seeing anything at all were Ricardo and those he allowed to use their senses. And this would remain true for as long as Ricardo maintained his dimension. Once a person was inside his fog dimension, there was no way to get out.

As a standalone ability, this was already very powerful. Ricardo was the quintessential assassin, and he had the freedom to do whatever he wanted to whoever he imprisoned in his dimension. But when you added Ricardo's ability to the special Gift his sister possessed, then it became the perfect killing machine and granted them the ability to handle opponents that were ranked higher than them!

Rosa Santos had a Gift called Schrödinger. In the world of assassins, it was hailed as one of the most powerful abilities ever granted to a human, and although Rosa was not the sort of person to brag, she knew that her ability was very special.

Rosa's Gift granted her the ability to raise her power level to match the power of anyone she targeted as an opponent, so long as that opponent was not looking at her. So, in simple terms, as long as Rosa manages to remain hidden from the sight of an opponent, it doesn't matter how much stronger that opponent is than her. Her mana, strength, agility, durability, and stamina would all rise to perfectly match her opponent's level, giving her the same amount of power as her opponent.

Rosa had trained for years on how to remain hidden and away from the spotlight because of this ability, and although it had given her a very introverted personality, it allowed her to move in and kill opponents before they even knew that she was there.

But when she was with her brother, Rosa didn't need to worry about hiding from her opponent.

With Ricardo's fog and Rosa's Schrödinger ability, they were an unstoppable pair that could take on nearly anyone in their way. And they had worked together so many times over the years that it was already second nature for them to match each other perfectly.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC156: Mana and Secrets

Chapter 156: Mana and Secrets

Rosa moved swiftly through the black fog with her eyes narrowed in concentration. She had spoken with her brother a few minutes ago about how they were going to handle this assassination, and her brother told her that it would be best to just go ahead and kill all three boys. Their only target was Jason, but it would be strange if they came back with only Henry and Darren since they were instructed to look after all three of them. It would be best if they just killed all of them and then told the others that the boys ran off and were killed by the monsters in the Gate. Jason was strong, but he wasn't experienced and they could convince the other agent that their story was true if they said that Jason was overwhelmed.

This wouldn't be the first time new awakeners were killed in a Gate, and it wouldn't be the last time either.

Rosa's gaze was focused on Jason as she decided it would be best to take care of him first. Darren and Henry were only a few meters away from Jason, but they were all looking around blindly and trying to figure out what was going on. Before they could figure anything out, they'd already be dead.

Jason was standing still and his head was lowered as his senses spread across the area. Jason couldn't see or hear anything, so he decided that the next best course of action was to spread his mana around him and try to feel for anything. The fog was capable of blocking all the senses of any superhuman, but that didn't mean it couldn't be bypassed.

The fog was a construct created from pure mana, and if it were bombarded by a mana source that was sufficiently stronger than it, then its cloaking ability would dim for a short period of time! And it was in that short period of time that Jason was able to sense the phantom figure shooting towards his direction from the west! Jason immediately called on a skill!

[Exo-skeletal Armor] has been activated!

CLANG!

A silver armor formed over Jason's body at the same time that a blade struck out for Jason's neck, and Jason's face split into a mad grin as he felt the blade spark against the armor's defenses! Jason reared his head back, and Rosa's eyes widened when she felt the area's temperature rising to unbearable levels!

[Emberstorm] has been activated!

PHWOOM!

A blast of fire shot in the direction where Jason could sense Rosa! Jason made sure to keep the fire steady so that it didn't go close to either Henry or Darren since they were right beside him, and he could feel the area around him clearing up slightly as the fog grew weaker under the power of his flames!

Rosa was lying flat on the ground with wide eyes as she watched the fire surge above her! She had fallen down the moment she felt the heat from the flames and she couldn't believe how close she had come to dying at that moment! Where did this come from!? Rosa knew that Jason only had an ocular ability, so where did the flames and armor come from!?

'Did he also lie about his Gift!?'

Rosa rolled to the side once the flames died down and she stalked around Jason curiously while holding her knife close to her. The silver armor on Jason's body stood out like a star in the middle of the dark fog and she quickly began looking for any gaps for her to slide her knife into. The comm in her ear beeped and Ricardo's voice filtered through.

[Is it done?]

"No, there's a problem. He lied about his Gift."

[What? What is it then?]

"I... I don't know exactly. He used two already. No, he used three."

Rosa suddenly remembered that she had seen both the armor as well as a fire-based skill along with his eyes. That was three, not two. Just how many gifts did this boy have?

On the other side of the fog, Ricardo furrowed his brow curiously at his sister's words. Ricardo had opted to stay behind and make sure none of the other groups stumbled upon them while they were carrying out their mission, and he trusted his sister enough to handle things without him, but what she was saying now was absurd. Jason used three Gifts? Did they even make sense in her head?

[Are you sure you're not hallucinating? Maybe he put you under some sort of illusion with his ocular ability.]

"Ricardo, I'm serious. I would know if this was an illusion. I think we should retreat. This isn't going to plan."

[We can't just back out now. If you can't finish things, then withdraw. I'll handle it myself!]

Rosa bit the inside of her cheek tensely as she gripped her knife tighter! The blade was a special S-Rank artifact that she had spent millions to acquire. It had a special [Bleed] status that forced anyone cut by it to bleed nonstop until they died from their wound. This meant that she only needed to get one clean slash in for Jason to go down.

'I need a gap in the armor. Those joints don't look solid. Should I use—'

Vroom!

The sound of something flying past her echoed from behind Rosa and she turned to see that it was one of those stupid drones moving around senselessly. Darren still couldn't see anything, so he was trying to use the drones to see clearly. Unfortunately for him, the fog had also blocked the drone camera and he still couldn't pick out anything!

Rosa frowned as the drone moved around mindlessly and she decided she would first handle Darren to stop him from distracting her! She quickly dashed towards him, but just before she could reach him, she felt a pulse of mana surge through the region and wash over her! Rosa turned to the side in shock as a flash of silver entered her peripheral and she immediately put up a defense as a silver sword slammed into her blade!

CLANG!

Rosa was pushed back by the blow and she rolled away from Jason while glancing at him in shock! Jason was still looking around aimlessly so she knew that he wouldn't have possibly seen her!

'So how the hell did he attack me!?'

Rosa's mind went back to the pulse of mana that she had felt before Jason's movement and she was able to immediately realize what was going on. Jason was using mana pulses to guess where she was! It was difficult to know the position of things in this fog using mana pulses, but Jason only had three things to focus on. Darren, Henry, and himself. Jason knew she would definitely attack one of them, so there was no need to spread his senses too far.

Rosa narrowed her eyes as she saw Henry standing a few meters away from her, and she decided to test her thesis by dashing toward Henry quickly! Her sword flew for Henry's neck, but before she could strike, Jason had already headed for Henry and grabbed him out of the way before swinging his sword towards Rosa!

Clang!

Another metallic sound echoed through the fog as Rosa expertly deflected Jason's swing and she took steps back immediately! She had been right! Jason was using mana to track her movement!

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC157: Apex Predator

Chapter 157: Apex Predator

Jason squeezed his palm gently, and his brow rose in surprise.

'Are those boobs?'

Henry spluttered and blushed when they felt Jason's hand on their chest and they quickly tried to move away from Jason, but Jason kept Henry close since it would be dangerous if they separated.

'So this bastard was a girl all along. With how feminine he looked, I should have known.'

This thought passed through Jason's head as he sent out another pulse of mana to try and pinpoint Rosa's position.

Ding~!

A notification sound echoed through Jason's system before a tab opened!

[Due to repeated action, the user has gained a new B Rank skill [Magic Sense]]

——

[Magic Sense: This skill gives the user the ability to spread his mana over a given radius in order to pinpoint all objects or people in that region and create a map of the terrain in the user's head.]

At Current Level: Mana Sense Radius = 1km

[Please upgrade the skill in order to increase the radius of effect.]

——

Jason barely paid any attention to the notification, but he noticed that his ability to sense the mana around him suddenly became sharper and more precise. A map of the terrain began to form in Jason's mind, and Jason was able to easily pick out Rosa's position in less than half the time! Jason immediately called on one of his beasts while turning off the [Adamantine Armor] skill to preserve mana.

"Fenrir."

The black-skinned Moonlight wolf ran out from the Alternate Dimension and shot straight for Rosa! Rosa had been watching Jason all this time and had been in the middle of thinking about what to do next when the Moonlight Wolf suddenly shot for her. The suddenness of the entire situation shocked Rosa so much that she wasn't able to move out of the way immediately, and by the time she realized what was going on, the wolf was right on top of her!

Rosa jumped back to try and put some distance between her and Fenrir while holding her blade towards it threateningly, but Fenrir was a purebred hunter and once it realized that Rosa was close to it, it lashed out and grabbed onto anything it could find! And unfortunately for Rosa, that thing just so happened to be her arm!

Fenrir bit into Rosa's arm, and a sickening crunch echoed through the area as it was torn clean off from the socket!

RIPPP~!

"AAAAHHHHH!!"

Rosa screamed from the intense pain as she held the stump that had once been her arm! Over the comms, Ricardo started to shout in worry as he wondered what had happened!

[Rosa! Rosa, what happened!?]

"Monster! He's a monster! Run, Ricardo!"

Rosa shouted between screams, and Ricardo could barely understand what she was saying! He immediately abandoned his post and began running into the fog to help his sister, but he didn't get far before a loud roar echoed through the sky, and a beast unlike anything he had ever seen in his life rose above the forest trees.

'Is that... a dragon...?'

ROARRR!!!

Ragnar let out an earth-shattering roar as it raised its head into the sky, and everything in the forest felt a shiver of fear pass through their bodies once they realized that a true apex predator had appeared! Ragnar beat its wing once and released a massive blast of wind and mana, and Jason watched calmly as the fog around them dispersed from the intense surge of mana! The surroundings were cleared up, and Jason turned to his side to see Henry's reddened face as she stared at the ground.

"C-Could you take your hand off my chest?"

Oh, right. Jason totally forgot he was still holding that. Jason released Henry and allowed her to move away, and Henry crossed her hand over her chest and turned away with an angry blush. Jason turned towards the two siblings with his [Predator's Gaze]. Rosa was lying on the ground and clutching her bleeding arm, and Ricardo was about a hundred meters away from them, staring up at Ragnar in absolute shock!

Jason's eyes narrowed, and he called on two Pawn Rank III moonlight wolves. The wolves materialized beside Jason, and Jason gave them a single order.

"Don't stop until he's dead."

The wolves zeroed in on Ricardo, and Ricardo immediately sensed the bloodlust aimed at him! He turned to see the large wolves staring him down with blood-red eyes, and he felt pure fear fill his body! He glanced down at his sister for a second as he thought about trying to grab her, but she was too far and he knew there was no way he would be able to grab her and escape at the same time, so he simply turned and ran!

The two wolves roared before they took off after him!

Jason patted Ragnar on the thigh and told him to go back into the Alternate Dimension, and the dragon vanished from the forest. Fenrir was still standing there, and Jason called on the ten Rook subordinate pawns that were under Fenrir's command. They gathered around Jason obediently and Jaosn gave a mental order.

'Go clear out the rest of the Gate. Make sure you get all the crystals and kill the boss when you find it.'

Fenrir and the other wolves all took off and headed deeper into the forest, and Jason finally turned his attention to the other two teenagers beside him. Henry was staring at everything happening in absolute shock, but Darren didn't even look bothered by it. Instead, Darren's eyes were glittering with awe as he looked at Jason like Jason was the messiah that was promised!

"You're amazing, Boss."

Darren spoke with so much adoration in his voice that Jason actually felt a little embarrassed by it. This was different from simply looking up to someone. Darren was treating Jason like he was a god or something.

Jason decided to just not bother about all that and walked up to Rosa calmly with his sword still held loosely in one hand. Rosa was still lying on the floor while holding her bleeding stump and crying out in pain, and when she saw Jason heading her way, her face morphed into a look of pure terror! Rosa tried to shuffle back to get away from Jason, but Jason put his foot on her thigh and kept her in place.

"W-Wait, don't kill me. I'll talk. I'll tell you everything I know."

Rosa tried to bargain for her life, but Jason scoffed as he placed his sword against her chest.

"I don't need your cooperation."

SQUELCH!

Jason's blade drove deep into Rosa's heart, and Rosa coughed up some blood as she felt her body grow cold. She looked up into Jason's eyes, and Jason's black expression was the only thing she got in return until the moment the light behind her eyes dimmed.

"Wait! What are you doing!?"

Henry shouted from behind Jason when she saw him stab Rosa in the heart, and she ran forward worriedly! She looked down at the lifeless body of the superhuman instructor and wondered what the hell had gotten into Jason! He just killed someone!

"You murdered her..."

Henry's voice was low and filled with disbelief! The mere thought of taking someone's life was something that she had never even entertained before, so seeing someone kill another person so easily was too shocking to her! This was the sort of thing that only happened in movies!

"She was trying to murder us all."

Jason said this calmly as he dragged his sword out from Rosa's chest and flicked it to the side to get rid of the blood. He turned to give Henry a pointed look and he saw that Henry was still slightly confused. Jason waved his sword around to the surroundings.

"What do you think created this fog and attacked us? The instructors were here to kill me from the start, and you two were unfortunate enough to have been a part of it."

Henry's eyes widened.

"Wait... what? But..."

"I believe you, boss!"

Darren shouted from behind without any hesitation!

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC158: The Mastermind

Chapter 158: The Mastermind

"I believe you, boss!"

Darren shouted from behind with no hesitation and he ran up the pair with his drones flying around him. He was still wearing his black glasses, and he took them off and handed them to Henry while talking.

"My drones were still working in the fog, and I was able to catch footage of the instructor when she was moving through it! She attacked the drone and almost destroyed it!"

Henry still had a massive frown on her face, but she eventually took the glasses and put them on to watch the footage. Jason turned away from the pair of them as he saw a tab open in front of him.

——

The wolves had finally killed Ricardo, and Jason used the [Eye of the King] to see that they were dragging the dead body back to where Jason and the others were. Jason switched his perception to Fenrir and the other wolves, and he saw that they were absolutely tearing through the Red Gate! Fenrir was a Rook Rank I Magic Beast with enough power to take on an A Rank, and all the beasts that were working under Fenrir had enough defenses and strength to handle most B Ranks. So the Magic Beasts in the Red Gate didn't stand a single chance against them!

Jason caught sight of some of the other test takers and saw that they were all returning to the Gate entrance so that they could leave back to the real world. They must've been scared off by Ragnar's appearance.

'That's good. I wouldn't want them getting in my way.'

Jason told Fenrir and the others to hurry up before he turned off his skill and focused back on his surroundings. He saw Henry looking away with a contemplative look on her face, and he knew that she had finally agreed that the siblings were responsible for the attack.

The wolves that killed Ricardo dragged him into the clearing where Jason was waiting, and Jason reached out and patted them on the head after they dropped him beside his dead sister. Jason turned to Darren and Henry and told them that they had to go.

"The wolves will lead you back to the exit. So just follow them."

Darren was immediately against it!

"I want to stay, boss! I promise I won't say anything about what I see! I promise!"

Jason narrowed his eyes seriously, but Darren stood his ground without budging! Darren wanted to be a part of this no matter what! Jason turned to Henry, and Henry turned away for a moment before turning back to Jason.

"A-As long as you keep my secret, I'll keep yours."

Darren tilted his head to one side and spoke curiously.

"What secret?"

Henry's face flushed slightly as she gave Jason a harder look, and Jason finally nodded to both of them. Jason already knew that keeping his abilities a secret wasn't that helpful anymore, especially since there were organizations out there that knew him more than he knew them, so he wasn't that worried about getting exposed.

Jason reached out to the two dead bodies before spreading his mana to them and calling out.

"Resurrect."

DOON!

Both Darren and Henry took steps back in shock when they felt the intense mana that surged through the air, but once they saw what was happening to the twins, they couldn't help the screams that tore out from their mouths! Darren fell to his ass in shock, and Henry took many steps back with her eyes widened! What the hell!?

"G-Ghost! They're Ghosts!"

Darren was a moment away from running, but one of Jason's wolves went to stand behind him and made sure he couldn't go anywhere.

——

Jason released a small sigh as he looked at the two subordinates in front of him. Rosa had been resurrected with her arm back in place, and she was holding a replica of the short dagger that she had attacked him with. Ricardo no longer had the injuries he got from the wolf attack, and he stood with a confident look on his face.

Jason leaned against his sword and spoke to the siblings while one of his wolves started to ransack their bodies for artifacts and Magic Crystals.

'Tell me everything you know about who's behind this attack.'

Ricardo stepped forward and he began to speak directly into Jason's mind. Ricardo's explanation wasn't as complete as Jason hoped it would be. According to what he knew, Ricardo and Rosa had been hired by the Director of the SMD branch in Riverdale, Millicent, to kill Jason in the Gate. They didn't need to be discreet about it since there had been many incidents of people being killed in Gates, so it would easily be swept under a rock.

They weren't exactly sure who it was that had instructed Millicent to hire them, but from the rumor mills in the criminal underworld, they were able to discover that this wasn't the first time that an incident like this had happened. Over the past ten years, there have been multiple cases of new awakeners getting killed in their assessment. Once more, it wouldn't have drawn any attention since it was not unexpected, but the reason why these killings were more interesting was because all the superhumans who died were just too promising.

People who awakened as C Ranks or high D Ranks, as well as those who awakened abilities that people thought would make them one of the strongest in the world, ended up being killed on their very first assessment! It was a very strange occurrence, and both siblings knew there was more to this than what they were seeing.

The siblings went deeper into the entire conspiracy, and they found that there was a link between Millicent from the SMD and one of the Vice Captains of the BloodRaven guild in Greenville. The moment they found that connection, they immediately pulled back and stopped trying to find out more. If there was one thing that every criminal knew, it was that they should never try to get involved in the business of people more powerful than them.

Jason's eyes narrowed when he read all this. So Millicent was really involved in this, and this wasn't the first time that she was doing it. They had killed many other superhumans before him. A surge of anger rose from inside Jason when he realized how deep this rabbit hole went, and he decided at that moment that he was going to find out exactly who it was that Millicent was working for.

'A vice-captain of the BloodRaves. From what I heard most big guilds have multiple vice captains, so it could be any of them.'

Chapter 159: True Understanding

Congratulations, the user has completed the mission [Discover the mastermind behind the Siblings attack]!

+1000 Kill Points

The user has gained the S Rank Artifact [Beginner's Luck]

——

A ring suddenly appeared in Jason's hand, and he hummed as he turned it over curiously. The ring was dark silver and had a design of a four-leaf clover wrapped around it. Jason activated [Appraisal] to get a better look.

——

Beginner's Luck

Rank: S

Durability: 100%

Boosts: MAX Luck for first 10 Seconds of a conflict

Description: A ring that once belonged to the king of the gnomes but was stolen and hidden by Richard Marc after they had a disagreement years ago. It grants the wearer a maximum boost to their luck stats for the first ten seconds of a fight and ensures that no attacks by any enemy in those ten seconds will cause the user any harm.

The ring's durability will reduce the more the user uses it. In order to maintain its durability, the user must carry out occasional maintenance on the ring.

——

'That's very useful.'

Jason couldn't help but be impressed after reading the ring's description. This basically meant that for the first ten seconds in any fight he gets into, he would be free to do whatever he wanted without having to fear any retaliation from the enemy. If Jason played his card right, then he could end every fight in the first ten seconds and never have to lose again!

Jason immediately put on the ring and he felt his mana surge for a second as it got used to the new foreign artifact before it finally settled back into its normal frequency once again. The ring fit well beside the [Stormheart] ring that his father had also gotten for him, and Jason couldn't help but wonder what sort of lore his father had that allowed him to get so many useful artifacts.

'I'd love to hear his story someday. Let's just wait till I find out where he is first. I'll beat the shit out of him for leaving mum like that, then we'll sit down and talk.'

Jason tightened his hand into a fist and shook those thoughts out of his head before he turned back to the two siblings standing in front of him. Jason waved his hand with an order, and the siblings vanished from sight and entered into his Alternate Dimension. The wolves that had been tearing into the bodies of the two siblings came back with two large Magic Crystals and the dagger that Rosa had been using. Jason threw the Magic Crystals into his Alternate Dimension since he planned to sell one and eat the other, and he rolled the dagger around expertly while activating [Appraisal].

Due to a special action, the skill [Appraisal] has grown stronger.

——

[Appraisal - A]

——

Nightwalker's Companion

Rank: S

Durability: 85%

Boosts: +50% Strength, +50% Stamina

Description: A blade carved from the tooth of the Vampire Bat. It possesses the special characteristic [Bleed], which causes any wound inflicted with the dagger to constantly bleed unless the wound is closed by a skilled healer. This is a sufficiently powerful blade for the user's current skill level, but the system suggests the user acquires a more powerful blade for future use.

——

'Not bad. At least it's better than the Wolf's tooth.'

Jason tossed the dagger into his Alternate Dimension and he hummed as multiple tabs suddenly opened in front of him.

'Seems they're almost done.'

Jason didn't bother looking with the [Eye of the King] to see if Fenrir was almost done clearing out the Gate. Instead, he turned to Darren and Henry and told them to listen up.

"The others are already gathered at the exit, and if we don't get there soon, they'll leave without us. We'll be heading out now, but first, we need to get our story down."

Both Henry and Darren swallowed at the serious look on Jason's face, and Jason gave Darren his attention when he saw him raise his hand. Darren was still shell-shocked by what he had seen and couldn't stop himself from asking.

"W-What is your Gift, boss?"

Jason waved his hand in a so-so manner.

"It doesn't matter."

Henry took a step forward.

"You just resurrected the fucking soul from those dead bodies! Of course, it fucking matters!"

Jason gave Henry a hard look.

"No, it doesn't. I'm not asking the reason behind your secret, am I?"

Henry grit her teeth while folding her hands across her chest and taking a step back from Jason. There was nothing she could say to that, so she wisely chose to stay silent. Jason turned to Darren and saw that Darren was still curious, and Jason sighed as he finally spoke.

"All you need to know for now is that I am a Necromancer. That is my real Gift. Now, we need to figure out our story."

Darren smiled.

"Don't worry, boss! We won't tell them you killed the instructors!"

"No, it's fine. You can tell the Enforcers that I did it. They won't believe anyone else in this gate is capable of something like this. But we all know that they attacked us first, so that means what I did was..."

Jason looked from Henry to Darren in a questioning manner, and Henry's face squeezed into a look of pure disbelief! She was able to immediately understand what Jason was trying to tell them but it was so insane that she couldn't barely believe it! Her voice came out in a low whisper.

"You want us to say that this was self-defense...?"

Jason smiled.

"Exactly."

"You can't possibly expect me to—!"

"You're completely right, boss! This was all self-defense!" [A/N: I fucking love this dude lol]

Henry turned to give Darren a look of shock! What was this bastard saying!? Darren spoke to Henry with a look of rare seriousness on his face!

"They tried to kill us and the boss killed them as punishment. If you ask me, then that's self-defense! It doesn't matter if they were begging for their life! What matters is who attacked first!"

Jason was starting to like this bastard more and more! A smile spread out on Jason's face and Jason pat Darren on the back while nodding sagely.

"You have a very good head on your shoulders, young one."

Darren folded his hands across his chest and nodded back like an apprentice appreciating the praise from his master.

"Thank you, sensei. Your praise means very much to me!"

"Stop playing around you bastards! What the hell are you talking about!? This—this... fuck this is insane!"

Henry fell to her knees and held her head in her hands as she glanced at the dead bodies! There was no way they'd be able to fool the Enforcers like this! They were all going to jail! She couldn't believe her career as a superhuman ended before it even began!

A hand landed on Henry's shoulder and Henry turned to see Jason giving her an understanding look. He turned away for a second before he sighed and spoke calmly.

"Don't worry... I completely understand. You're delusional from the stress."

"Eh?"

A question mark appeared over Henry's head and Jason nodded at her.

"You're so traumatized by what you've seen that you think I murdered these two. They attacked you and I helped save your life, but your desperation to forget what they did to you made you senile."

"I-I'm not senile—"

Another hand landed on Henry's other shoulder and she turned to the other side to see Darren leaning down with a similar expression as Jason. He spoke with a soft tone.

"Yes, Henry. You're completely senile."

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC160: Non-Violent Persuasion

Chapter 160: Non-Violent Persuasion

Darren and Jason stood on either side of Henry with understanding looks, and Darren spoke in a soft tone.

"Yes, you're senile, Henry. But don't worry. The boss and I will make sure the authorities know exactly what happened here. We were attacked by the instructors and the boss saved our lives. But you were so traumatized by the attack that you started thinking the boss killed them. My father's connections in the industry are very deep, I'm sure there are one or two psychologists that would be willing to work with you until you're back on your feet."

Jason's hand pressed down on Henry's shoulder and Henry released a low 'eek' as she turned in fear to look at Jason's understanding face!

"So tell me... what happened here again?"

"I-I..."

Jason urged her along with a kind smile, and Henry felt the pressure getting so much that all thoughts of arguing with either of them forced themselves from her mind and she slowly nodded along with a nervous laugh.

"I-I guess I saw it wrong, after all... hehe... Y-Yes! I saw it wrong! It was self-defense!"

Darren's face lit up and he clapped like he just finished watching a brilliant stage play, and Jason nodded and turned to walk away. Henry released a breath she didn't know she had been holding and she decided it was better to just agree to their cover story than to try and get on the bad side of either Jason or Darren. As far as power was concerned, Jason had her beat by a large margin, and even though she knew her parents were rich, there was something different about Darren that made her not want to get on his bad side. The fact that he was dropped off in a Rolls Royce already told her everything she needed to know about him, so she was sure his family's connections were very deep!

Jason moved back towards the dead bodies and told his wolves to drag them to the side. He'd take them back to Earth and show them to the Enforcers.

Ding!

A new notification suddenly popped up in Jason's vision and Jason read it with pride.

——

The user has killed [4] Spidermonkey Guards

+280 Kill Points

——

The user has defeated the Boss of the Red Gate [Spidermonkey's Coven].

+150 Kill Points

——

The user has successfully completed the Mission [Clear The Red Gate [Monkey's Coven]] and has killed the Gate Boss.

+500 Kill Points

The user has gained the A rank artefact [Elemental Shield]

——

A new artefact fell into Jason's hand, and this time it was a long black cloak with red markings all around it. Jason looked it over and saw that it was worn and slightly used, but there was a natural power pulsing out from it that told Jason that the cloak was still very powerful.

Jason used [Appraisal] on the cloak and he hummed at the results.

——

Elemental Shield

Rank: A

Durability: 100%

Boosts: +50% Reduction to all Elemental Attacks, +50% Increase in Stealth.

Description: A cloak that once belonged to a wandering dryad who was defeated by the previous owner of the Necromancer System. The cloak provides a 50% reduction in the damage taken from any Elemental Attack and also provides a decrease in the user's presence to prevent enemy detection. The cloak's durability depends on the frequency of elemental attacks; therefore, it will lose durability the more attacks it absorbs.

——

'Another useful artefact. There are a lot of elemental users back on Earth and some of the beasts also use elemental attacks. At least with this and the [Beginner's Luck] ring, I can be sure they won't catch me off guard.'

Jason put the cloak into his Alternate Dimension and he decided he would use it when he was diving into another gate later. Darren and Henry were still standing on the other side of the clearing and watching him curiously, and he could tell that they had a lot of questions on their minds that they wanted answered. But Jason wasn't going to answer anything they asked and that was the end of it.

Jason sent out an order telling the wolves to drag the bodies of the Spidermonkeys closer so he could resurrect them, and the wolves began to do so as they were told. Jason waited for a few minutes so that they were all gathered before he put his hand towards the Spidermonkeys and called out.

"Resurrect."

DOON!

Another pulse of mana shot through the forest and made both Darren and Henry shiver from the sheer power they felt! A loud cry drew their attention from the front and they both struggled not to step back when an arm shot out from the body of one of the Spidermonkeys! The Spidermonkey dragged itself out from its former body and stumbled to its feet in front of Jason! The others slowly started to join the first one and Jason just watched calmly as the notification tab in front of him went crazy with new messages.

The skill [Tree Walking] has grown stronger.

——

The user has gained [1] Pawn Rank III Subordinate

The C Rank Skill [Tree Walking] has evolved into the B Rank skill [Wandering Spirit]

——

[Wandering Spirit: This skill allows the user to move across any surface by emitting a steady output of mana from his feet in order to stick to that surface. The user will be capable of moving across both vertical surfaces like walls and trees, as well as non-solid surfaces like water and quicksand.]

[This skill is not evolvable.]

——

'Wandering Spirit. It's like waterwalking from that old show Naruto. At least I don't have to worry about drowning anymore.'

Jason gained a small smile after reading the description of the new skills that he got. He closed the tab and then turned back to the Spidermonkeys. The monsters had finally dragged themselves out of their bodies, and Jason looked them over with a critical eye. The Gate Boss was standing in front of the rest of them, but there were also major changes in its appearance. All the other Spidermonkeys were around the same height as Jason, but this Boss was almost twice as large as Jason with bulking muscles and a mean-looking face. In a way, Jason believed that this boss had to be either a gorilla or an ape. There was no way a regular monkey would be this large!

One of the wolves trudged up to Jason with a small bag containing crystals as well as a strange-looking headpiece and Jason guessed that these were the Magic Crystals from the Spidermonkeys. Jason patted the wolf on the side as thanks and he took the crystals into his Alternate Dimension. He then picked up the headpiece and looked at it curiously. It was something like a half-crown that you wore on one side of your head and it had a bony structure to it. Jason used [Appraisal] and he looked at the descriptions.

——

Skull of the Spidermonkey

Rank: A

Durability: 100%

Boosts: +50% Stamina +100% Mental Strength

Description: A piece of the skull of the defeated Spidermonkey boss. This artifact grants the wearer a boost in mental fortitude and stamina, allowing them to perform complicated tasks and hand out commands to subordinates more easily. The skull cannot be worn with any other stamina-based artifact and its durability will reduce with time.

——

'It can't be used with any other artifact?'

Jason frowned when he read this part of the description. Jason already had the [Stormheart] artifact that helped increase his stamina by a hundred percent and that artifact was an S Rank, so it was far more durable and also stronger than this one. It would be impossible for Jason to choose this artefact over that one, so Jason decided that he couldn't use it.

Jason turned to Darren behind him and he called out to him before tossing the artefact his way! Darren stumbled to catch it and when he did, his eyes widened in awe as he looked it over.

"You're giving this to me, boss!?"

"Your stamina is bullshit, so that'll help boost it."

Darren's smile became even larger as he exclaimed!

"Thank you, boss!"
