STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC185: Left Behind

Chapter 185: Left Behind

These phantoms were going to serve as Jason's elite spies and assassins. Jason wasn't a fool, and he knew that there were things out there that he just didn't have any control over. There were people and organizations that were making plans for him, and if he didn't gain more information about them, then he was going to be caught unaware when they finally made a move. So Jason was going to become proactive.

The Phantoms would dive into the shadows, and from there, they would follow anyone that Jason suspected of being dangerous. Jason knew that there were people who would be able to sense the Phantoms even if they were in the shadows, but that was only if the Phantoms got too close. As long as they maintained their distance, then no one would ever find out.

"You'll go into the shadow and stay there until I give you more orders. Alpha, remain here."

Jason gave the phantom an order, and they all bowed their heads in obedience before they easily fell into the shadow. Alpha stayed back while looking towards Jason curiously, and Jason asked her where the cure for the Hunter's Toxin was. Alpha immediately responded while ordering one of her subordinates to go and bring the Toxin's cure from inside her tent.

The phantom appeared from the shadow a few seconds later with the cure, and Jason took it. It was a glass bottle filled with a blue liquid, and Alpha explained that the victim would need to swallow the liquid to cure the Toxin. Jason nodded, and he ordered Alpha and her subordinate to return to the shadows. Jason looked the toxin over for a few seconds and frowned before he gently went down on one knee. Riyala and Fenrir had been playing together at the side all along, but Riyala stopped her excited laughing and gently pushed Fenrir back when she saw Jason's frown. She wanted to ask Jason what was wrong, but she didn't have to as she saw Jason put his hand out and summon Gina's body out from his Alternate Dimension.

Gina's body gently fell to the floor in front of Jason, and Jason's eyes immediately fixed themselves on her emotionless face. He glanced at her chest, and he felt a strange pain in his heart when he didn't see it moving, but he ignored all that and simply took the cure and poured it into Gina's mouth. He held Gina's head up slightly and made sure that it went down her throat before he released her and quickly put her back into his Alternate Dimension.

Jason knew that even though Gina was dead, the Hunter's Toxin was still inside her, so if he had resurrected her while she was like that, then the toxin would have started acting again and killed her a second time. At least now that he had given her the cure, she would be free from any poison and he could resurrect her back to perfect health. Jason just didn't know that it would be so difficult to see her like that.

A hand landed on Jason's shoulder, and Jason looked up to see Riyala giving him a sad look. She slowly crouched until she was at eye level with him and asked,

"Are you okay?"

Jason released a huff and smiled. It was obvious he wasn't okay, but as far as he was concerned, it didn't matter. All that mattered now was getting Gina back. Jason stood up, and he gave Riyala his hand to help her up while saying,

"Yeah, I'm fine. I was just a little tired. Come on."

Jason helped her to her feet, and then he began walking towards the artefacts that his subordinates had gathered—

"Help me~"

Jason suddenly stopped in his tracks as he heard something echo in his ear. He turned around sharply to glance at Riyala, and he saw her giving him a curious look. Riyala asked Jason if there was something wrong, and Jason shook his head 'no'. He ran a hand through his hair and tried to listen for the voice again, but he didn't hear anything. What the hell was that?

'It sounded like a woman asking for help. I don't recognize the voice.'

Jason quickly turned to the system and asked it if it recognized the voice he just heard, and the system sent a response back.

[The system registered a fleeting signal passing through the user's mind, but the system did not detect any form of mana or telepathic control within the signal; therefore, the system does not think this signal is a threat to the user. Due to the lack of mana signatures, the system is incapable of tracking the origin of the signal.]

Jason turned to the side and looked out into the horizon. He was curious about where the voice came from, but after he didn't hear anything again for a while, he decided that he was too busy to bother about tracking it down. Jason moved to the tent and put his hand over all the artefacts before opening his Alternate Dimension beneath them.

The artefacts fell into Jason's Dimension, and he saw a very long list of notifications appearing in his system as it registered all the different artefacts at the same time. Jason paid only half-mind to the new notifications as he moved out of the tent. He began walking back to the Dimensional Tear that he and Riyala had come from, and Riyala turned to follow him.

Fenrir pushed Riyala from behind with its snout and Riyala turned around and smiled when she saw that it wanted her to get on. Riyala moved to the side and Fenrir lowered its body so that she could jump on before Fenrir continued following after the King.

The only things left behind were the stench of blood and dead bodies.

[Riverdale]

[Jason's Apartment]

The area around Jason's apartment was completely packed with people. Reporters, journalists, and regular civilians who were interested in finding out what had happened filled the streets and spilled out into other streets as they tried to get a good look at the situation. The fire that Riyala started in Jason's apartment had completely burnt down the building, and people had to be evacuated quickly so that they wouldn't be caught in the flames. Luckily, no one was killed by the fire, but that wasn't the reason why people were scrambling to get closer!

Everyone had seen the dragon that moved through the sky earlier, and those who were close to Jason's building had seen him jump from the back of the dragon before it vanished from their sight. So right now, they all knew that everything that had happened over the past few hours directly involved Jason! And since Jason himself was still nowhere to be found, they had all gathered there to try and get any information that they could!

"Please move back! Everyone move back! This is a restricted area!"

A pretty policewoman shouted at the many journalists and reporters who were pushing their way forward with a frustrated look on her face! She was standing with many other police officers who were all trying to make sure the house wasn't tampered with, but they were quickly losing control of the situation due to the sheer number of people!

"We have a right to know what's going on!"

"Please answer our questions! We deserve to know!"

"Are you trying to hide Jason Marc from the people!"

"Did Jason Marc lie about his real Gift!?"

"Did the government know about Jason's abilities before everyone else!"

"What caused the fire!? Was it done by an unknown enemy!?"

The reporters were insatiable with their questions and the officer could tell that they would not be able to calm these people down no matter what!

Ratatatatatattata!

All of a sudden, the sound of a helicopter arriving on the scene made everyone look up quickly and they were all stunned when they saw the logo of the Superhuman Enforcers printed on the side of the helicopter! The door opened and various figures immediately began to descend to the ground with long ropes! They were all wearing the white uniform of the Enforcers and it was as though the crowd slowly gained back their senses once they saw the Enforcers logo printed on their chests!

The Enforcers landed and moved to the side to allow a single man through. He looked to be somewhere in his early twenties, but he had the sort of mean-looking face that would make any child cry from fear. He looked around at the scene of the reporters with a cold detachment that sent shivers down the spine of anyone his eyes met, and he barely paid them any mind before he spoke to his second in command.

"Ralph."

"Yes, commander!"

A young Lieutenant named Ralph walked forward respectfully and he saluted the commander! The commander waved at the people in front of him and spat out his next words.

"Get rid of the fodder. They are in our way."

"Yes, commander! Troops, mobilize! Get rid of all the reporters!"

Ralph immediately began to carry out the commander's orders and the commander turned and began walking towards the burnt building. The Commander's name was Luthor and he was a legend amongst the ranks of the Enforcers. Just like Agiel, he had also been made commander at a very young age, but he had become a commander a few years before her, so he had a higher say in the affairs of the Enforcers compared to her.

Luthor was a believer in the law of force. Ever since he was a kid, he had lived a life of force. He was born in the desolate plains of the Russian Peninsula, so the cold and desperate search for food every day had already begun to carve him into a creature of survival from a young age. Then after moving from Russia to America, he joined the military since he had nowhere else to go, and he became one of those sent to Afghanistan to fight against the Taliban. That was another Chapter of his life that was filled with nothing but force, and now that he was a commander in the Enforcers, he still knew nothing but force.

His everyday life consisted of handling criminals and terrorists who would try to use their Gifts for nefarious purposes. He had seen the very worst of humanity and it prevented him from being able to use optimism in any situation at all. As far as Luthor was concerned, optimism was for fools and cowards. So long as you are always trying to see the best in everything, you will end up being used at every opportunity. Rather, it was wiser to see the very worst in every situation. That way, you will never be caught off guard!

So, as Luthor stared at the pile of rubble that had once been a residential building, he couldn't stop a sneer of utter irritation from appearing on his face. This was obviously done by some superhuman. There was nothing else that would be capable of bringing down a building this quickly with nothing but flames. And since Jason was the only superhuman who lived here, it was obvious that there were only two possible explanations: either Jason had done it himself, or someone had done it while targeting Jason.

'All this happened because he didn't want us to know what his real Gift was. What a waste. Teenagers these days can't stop themselves from making foolish decisions. And look at what it's done. All these people have lost their homes.'

Luthor clicked his tongue before he began to head into the building. His men were busy making a perimeter around the area so the reporters wouldn't bother him and he felt even more irritated when he heard some of the civilians talking about democracy and how they had every right to be there. They wouldn't be saying the same thing if this was a war-torn country! And when dealing with superhumans, they might as well be dealing with a war!

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC187: No Need To Know

Chapter 187: No Need To Know

"Sir, there's a problem!"

Someone shouted from in front of Luther and Luther turned his hard gaze towards the lower-ranked Enforcer that came running to him. The Enforcer pointed inside the burnt builiding and spoke quickly in a low tone.

"There are some men inside that are taking the bodies away."

"What!?"

Luther immediately sped up and entered the building with an aura of anger surrounding him! He looked around and saw more than ten men who were all wearing suits and sunglasses, walking around like they owned the place! The men were carrying strange devices that they were using to scan around the building and none of them even bothered to pay Luther any mind when he entered! Luther immediately growled in a threatening tone.

"Who the hell do you think you are? Someone answer me before I arrest all of you!"

The men in suits glanced toward Luther curiously before most of them turned back to continue what they had been doing! Only one person stood and closed the scanner he had been using to search the house. He put the scanner in his breast pocket and straightened out his suit before he turned and began walking over to Luther.

"Commander Luther. It's a pleasure. We're only here to handle some business. Once we're finished, we'll be on our way."

Luther's frown almost made his brows touch with how deep it was! His anger began to grow in intensity and there was an aura of mana surrounding him already! He spoke in a low, gruff voice.

"I said, who are you?"

The man smiled.

"Who we are isn't important, commander. All you need to know is that we outrank you by many levels, so you have no need to worry. We'll be on our way very soon."

The man was a whole head shorter than Luther, but he didn't look intimidated at all. In fact, it was almost like he found the entire situation amusing!

"Go and call the others. We're arresting all of them!"

Luther immediately turned and gave an order to the Enforcer that had come with him, but the suited man suddenly raised his hand and stopped them both before they could do anything. The man reached into his pocket and brought out a slip of paper before handing it to Luther. The slip of paper had a single number printed on it and nothing else. The man then spoke reassuringly.

"Call that number and you'll have everything you need to know about us."

Luther frowned down at the number before he took it and handed it to the Enforcer beside him while telling him to call it. The man quickly put the number into his phone and it rang for a few seconds before someone picked up. The lower-ranked Enforcer put it up to his ear and spoke.

"Hello, yes, this is Lieutenant George from the Superhuman Enforcers. We have some people here who are – I'm sorry, what? Uhm, no. No, sorry, sir! Shit, I'm sorry, I had – No, there's no need for that sir. Uhm, yes, there's a superior officer here! At once!"

The lieutenant leaned away from the phone like it was burning coal and he quickly stretched it out to the commander with a panicked look on his face! Commander Luther rose a brow at the lieutenant and the lieutenant whispered.

"It's the Chief Commander!"

Luther blinked curiously before his brow furrowed into knots! What? The Chief Commander! Did the Lieutenant even know what he was saying? There was no way the Chief Commander's number would be that easy to get! The Chief Commander was the general head of all the Enforcers in America. He was the only one with the authority to mobilize any Enforcer to any part of the country without needing to pass through any red tape, so he was the single most powerful man in the country after the president!

"Take that phone away from me. The Chief Commander isn't some random person you can contact on any day. It's a trick."

Luther waved the phone away in annoyance without bothering to answer it and the lieutenant was shocked when the phone suddenly clicked off on its own. Luther turned back to the man in front of him and he raised a brow when he saw that the man was still smiling.

"What the hell are you smiling at? You think I'm finished with –"

Ring~! Ring~! Ring~!

Commander Luther's phone suddenly began to ring and he turned to look at it in surprise. He glanced back at the man smiling in front of him and frowned again before he turned around and grabbed his phone. He looked at the number there and he felt his eyes widen in shock as he slowly picked up and put it to his ear.

"Sir."

[Luther. Did you not hear that I wanted to speak with you?]

"I apologize, sir. I didn't think it was really you."

[Okay. The men here are not to be interfered with, leave them to complete their business and they will be out of your way soon.]

"But sir. They are taking the bodies."

[Yes, that is what they do.]

"And who exactly are 'they,' sir?"

[That is on a need-to-know basis, Luther. The only thing you are allowed to know is that they are part of an organization called Gaia. Now, do as I say. Do you understand?]

"Of course, sir."

Click!

The phone clicked off at once and Luther squeezed his hand so tight that he almost broke his phone to pieces! He took in a calming breath before turning back to the man. The bastard was still smiling at Luther like he didn't have a care in the world and Luther ignored him after a few seconds and turned to the lieutenant.

"Go out and help the others with creating the perimeter. When they are done, wait for my signal before returning."

The lieutenant didn't need to be told twice before he turned and left immediately. Luther folded his hands and stood to the side patiently and the man gave him a thankful nod as he turned back to continue what he had been doing. The men scanned the entirety of what had once been Jason's apartment and they cleared out some strange scales and fur that had fallen to the floor before they grabbed all the bodies lying around as well as two large pieces of luggage that had survived the fire. The bodies were strangely inhuman. Even though they were burnt, they still retained their general shapes or appearance and Luther couldn't help but notice that some of them were almost like aliens.

Luther wondered how they planned to take the bodies away since they were supposed to be a secret organization. There was no way they would allow the public to see them carrying those strange bodies away and they wouldn't be able to go out unnoticed due to the sheer number of people outside. Luther waited for a few seconds and his question was answered when all ten men suddenly vanished from right in front of him.

'Teleportation? That had to be an S Rank special skill at least.'

Luther's brow furrowed and clicked his tongue before he simply shook his head and turned to call the other men in for their own investigation. Luthor was a soldier and he understood that there were some things in this world that you were better off not knowing.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC188: Cerci

Chapter 188: Cerci

[Mira's Apartment]

Jason materialized from the shadows a few meters away from his mother's apartment with Riyala beside him. He was now wearing a long black cloak that wrapped around his body. It had a long collar that came up to cover his lower face and he had given Riyala another cloak that had a hood attached. The cloak Jason was wearing was the A Rank [Elemental Shield] that Jason had gotten after he completed the Spidermonkey's Red Gate. It helped to protect against elemental attacks but it would also help him in reducing his presence.

Meanwhile, Riyala's cloak was the [Veil of the Hollow Star], and it was an S-rank artefact that Jason had gotten from the Phantoms. It helped to negate all forms of elemental attacks and also increased stealth and agility by a hundred percent, so Jason was sure no one would pick up Riyala's inhuman features while they travelled.

Jason had avoided most of the more populated areas while coming here. He knew there would be a mad crowd at his former house because of the stuff he had pulled with Ragnar and the fire that he caused. The media channels would be having a field day trying to figure out what Jason's abilities were, and the internet would be filled with conspiracies about how he created the dragon. Even the Enforcers would come looking for him soon enough.

But Jason didn't care about any of that. Jason would deal with them whenever they came for him. Instead, Jason wanted to first make sure that his mother was okay. Jason had been too focused on his revenge and making sure that the Phantoms didn't escape that he had forgotten to make sure that nothing happened to his mother while he was gone. But thankfully, when Jason arrived, there were no police cars or Enforcers outside his mother's apartment. Jason hadn't been gone that long, so Jason was sure they just hadn't gotten here yet. It wouldn't be long before they came here to try and find him.

Jason began walking towards the building and he ordered one of the five Rook Class Phantoms to move ahead of him along with its subordinate. The Phantoms slipped out from Jason's Alternate Dimension and easily fell into the shadow before they went ahead of Jason to enter the building. One of the Phantoms immediately went towards Jason's mother's apartment and slipped in through the shadow under the door while the other went around the rest of the building to make sure that there was nothing dangerous in there. Jason used the [Eye of the King] to look through the eyes of the Phantom that was in his mother's apartment and he was surprised when he saw that there was someone sitting in the living room with his mother and sister. The three of them were talking about something serious and Jason could see the look of worry on his mother and sister's faces.

Jason frowned before he told Riyala to pull up her hood and make sure no one could see her scales. She did as she was told before they made their way up the stairs and towards the apartment. Jason knocked once before he immediately opened the door and stepped inside.

"Mum."

Jason called out for his mother and Mira turned to the door immediately! Her face brightened once she set eyes on Jason and she jumped off the couch and ran toward him!

"Jason! Oh my god, I was so worried! I saw the news and your house was burning! They were talking about dragons and monsters! Oh, thank God you're okay."

Mira hugged Jason tightly as tears leaked from her eyes! She had been worried sick all this time because the news was saying that they hadn't seen Jason since the dragon vanished. Both the police and the Enforcers were looking for him, but there had been no sight of him at all! It was like that moment when Mira heard Jason had been dragged into a Gate all over again! She became terrified and she didn't know what she would have done if Jason didn't come back safe!

Jason held his mother softly before he looked over to see Janet standing at the side with a smile. She had also been worried about Jason and she was glad that he was okay. Jason didn't bother to smile back at her. He simply looked away from her to smile down at his mother and he allowed her to kiss him on the cheek in happiness before his eyes trailed towards the man who was sitting on the couch.

It was an older man who looked to be somewhere in his mid-thirties. His hair was grey and he had very sharp features that made him look like a member of higher society. He had dark blue eyes and he was wearing an immaculate black suit. Jason couldn't feel any mana from him, so he knew that he was a regular human, but there was a strange aura about him that made Jason feel wary — like the feeling a predator would get when it was facing off against another predator. Jason slowly moved his mother to the side and paid the man his full attention, and he watched as the man stood slowly and gave him a nod.

"Mr. Jason. I don't believe we've met-"

"You're Cerci, aren't you?"

The man blinked in surprise at Jason's words before his smile came back calmly as he spoke.

"Well, I suppose introductions are not in order after all. Yes, I am Cerci. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Jason narrowed his eyes at Cerci and Mira looked between both of them curiously before speaking up.

"Jason, how do you know Mr. Cerci? I don't think I've ever told you about him."

"Dad mentioned him."

Cerci's eyes darkened at Jason's words and Mira hummed as she nodded. Mira had known Cerci for a long time. The both of them went to high school together and they used to be friends back then, but after Cerci moved away to join the military, Mira lost contact with him and they never saw each other again until about fifteen years ago when they reunited. After Mira got married, she was surprised to realize that Cerci and Richard also knew each other, but she didn't pay it much mind since she hardly knew Cerci anymore.

But Mira was surprised that Richard would tell Jason about Cerci since Mira knew that the two men just didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things! Richard and Cerci's relationship was very strained and Mira had never seen them having a conversation that wasn't tense before, so she always stayed away when they were both together. This was actually the first time that Mira would be seeing Cerci in almost eleven years, and the only reason he came here was because he had been looking for Jason.

"What do you want, Cerci?"

Jason spoke up in a hard tone and Mira looked at him curiously when she realized that it was the exact same tone her husband always used when talking to the man. What could have possibly happened to create so much tension between all of them!?

Cerci's eyes were still narrowed in a hard look, but he was civil enough to point to the left calmly as he spoke.

"I had some of my associates pick up what they could salvage from the wreckage of your apartment. It isn't much, but it's better than nothing. And I'd like to have a word with you, about her."

Cerci turned to give Riyala a hard look and Riyala ducked her head and pulled her hood further down to hide her appearance. Cerci's words suddenly made everyone else in the room realize that Riyala was standing there, and it also made Mira realize something even more pressing.

"Jason... where is Gina?"

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC189: Endless Curiousity

Chapter 189: Endless Curiousity

Mira looked around before turning to Jason with a question.

"Jason... where is Gina?"

Jason grit his teeth internally while he kept his face perfectly calm. He released a small breath before he gave his mother a smile.

"I'll explain everything to you later, I promise. For now, help me look after her till I get back. Cerci, let's talk."

Jason turned and began to walk out of the house without bothering to see if Cerci was actually coming or not. Mira still had a lot of questions, but she could see the seriousness in Jason's gaze and she knew that it was better to just let him finish his conversation first. Cerci reached down and took the cup of coffee that Mira had made for him. He drank all of it at once before he released a calming sigh, smiled at Mira thankfully, and walked out of the house.

Jason and Cerci stood outside Mira's apartment. The moon had risen high in the sky and its light cast a silver hue across the street, but both men seemed to have silently agreed that they preferred staying away from the light, so they were standing in the shadow of the building where no one could see them. Jason had his hands in the pocket of his coat and he watched as Cerci brought out a cigar and lit it. Cerci took a puff and blew it to the side before he spoke.

"Just out of plain curiosity, is your girlfriend still alive?"

Jason gave Cerci a hard glare.

"You don't talk about her. This is the only warning you'll get."

Cerci nodded calmly while looking up at the night sky with a hum. There were stars littering the horizon, and it would have been a peaceful night if not for the large cloud of smoke that had taken up one side of the city skyline. Cerci took another puff from his cigarette before he threw it to the ground and spoke while putting his hands in his pockets.

"That girl, the inter-world traveler. I need you to give her to us."

"That's not happening."

Jason's answer was immediate and Cerci frowned slightly as he continued.

"I don't need to tell you about how dangerous she is to you. Her presence brought more trouble for your family than you've experienced in the past ten years. Jason, I understand you're a man of your word. You're just like your father. You promised her that you'd take care of her and now you're risking the lives of everyone around you to keep that promise, but it's not worth it. The only reason I'm talking to you right now is because I owe your father that much. He saved our lives, and in exchange, we promised not to interfere in his family's matters. But we can't turn a blind eye when you're harboring an inter-world refugee."

Cerci massaged his neck calmly once he was done talking and waited for Jason to say something in response. Cerci was trying his very best not to involve himself in the Marc family, and if not for the fact that Jason had taken Riyala in, then Cerci would have never bothered to meet Jason like this. But Cerci couldn't turn a blind eye anymore since Riyala's presence here could mean trouble for all of them!

Jason remained silent for only a few seconds before he spoke.

"How do you know my father?"

Cerci blinked in surprise at that question. It was the last thing he expected Jason to ask after everything he said. But Cerci realized that he was talking to the son of that bastard, so he really shouldn't be surprised that they would have the same personality. Even with all the physical power they had, the Marcs were also very curious. Strength and curiosity were a dangerous combination and it was one of the things that made Cercei uneasy around Richard, and now he could sense the same personality trait in Jason as well. Cerci brought out another cigarette and lit it before speaking.

"Your father showed up on Earth twenty-five years ago. He was a one-man army with more power than the military might of the entire planet combined and the government was terrified of him, but I spoke to him and he told me about how his world was destroyed and he came here to rest. We allowed him to stay in exchange for an agreement that he would aid us in 'difficult' situations. He met your mother a few years after he started working with the government and settled down with her. But he still helped us from time to time."

Cerci shrugged once he finished his story and Jason hummed. Jason had been trying to fill the holes in his father's lore for a while now, so it was good to know that there was someone who could help him with that. At least now he could be certain that the Book of the Apocalypse was actually written by his father.

Jason asked something else.

"Do you know where he is?"

Cerci gave Jason a curious look. The story that was recorded about Richard Marc was that he died ten years ago during the appearance of the first Gate. But of course, that was a lie. The government had hidden the truth from the world because they knew the people weren't ready to handle it yet. Even Mira didn't know everything about what really happened with Richard because Richard had made Cerci swear never to tell her. But Cerci wasn't surprised that Jason would know that Richard was alive since Jason seemed to be more intertwined with the Primordial Expanse than most other superhumans.

Cerci took another drag from his cigarette and looked to the side calmly as his mind traveled back to the truth about that day.

"The story that we're telling the public isn't true. At least, not completely. It's true that the Rulers went into the Green Gate to confront the monster on the other side, and it's also true that they saved the world by closing the Gate. But what we didn't say was that they weren't the only ones to go in there. Remember I told you that your father made a deal with the government? Well, the government had been calling on him a lot. After your father arrived, there've been at least two hundred other appearances of interworld travelers. Some of them were seeking refuge, like your father, but there were others who were here to cause problems. Your father dealt with the most dangerous ones and we cleaned up the mess and made sure no one knew about the attacks to prevent unnecessary panic. But that day when the Green Gate appeared, it was different.

"The Rulers went into the Gate, and what they saw in there was a monster unlike anything that they could ever imagine. The Rulers couldn't handle that. It nearly killed all of them, and it would have succeeded if your father hadn't intervened. From what the Rulers told me, your father pushed the monster back during the battle and the both of them fell through a Dimensional Tear. I don't know where in the Primordial Expanse they are now, but I thank God it isn't here."

Cerci threw his cigar to the ground and crushed it with a frown.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC190: A Distant Relationship

Chapter 190: A Distant Relationship

"After all that happened, we couldn't have the people know the truth since it would cause mass panic. It's never a good idea to tell the public about possible world-ending scenarios. The people needed a hero, someone to heap their praises on for saving the world. So we gave them the five Rulers and allowed them to think that they were the ones who did the dirty work. The people got their hero, the Rulers got to become celebrities, and our involvement in the shadows remained a secret. Everyone's happy. Well... almost everyone. Sorry to disappoint, Jason, but I really don't know where your father is. And I have no idea if he is alive or not. But we are grateful for what he has done for all of us."

Cerci gave Jason a meaningful look, and Jason released a calm sigh before he nodded. He should have known finding his father wouldn't be that easy. But at least he now knew more about what his father was really like. Jason's image of his father was that of a regular, everyday dad with horrible jokes and kind words. His father worked in the restaurant with his mother almost every day, so Jason could've never guessed that his father was actually some superpowered alien protecting the world. When did he even have the time for all that?

Jason took a few seconds to fully digest everything that Cerci had said before he finally asked.

"There's something I'm looking for. It's an artifact called the [Banshee's Tear]. Do you know where I can find it?"

Cerci made a sound of surprise.

"My organization doesn't deal with artifacts. Our job is to save the world, not handle commerce. But from what I've heard, there was a Banshee in the recent Gate in Greenville. It was handled by the—"

"BloodRaven Guild."

Jason cut Cerci off before he could finish, and Cerci just nodded. Jason's eyes narrowed as he thought about his next course of action, and the next time he spoke, there was an undeniable bloodthirst in his words.

"I guess I'll just have to go ask them for it myself."

Cerci rubbed his throat calmly while trying not to sigh. He already knew that Jason wasn't going to just 'ask' them for anything. According to Cerci's spies in the SMD, the BloodRaven guild was directly responsible for the attack that happened inside the Red Gate earlier today, so it was likely that Jason would try to wipe out the BloodRaven guild for what they did. But Cerci didn't need to worry about something like that. His job was to protect the world from external dangers. Anything that happened between Jason and BloodRaven was something that the Enforcers would have to deal with.

Cerci continued.

"I think we should get back to the topic at hand. Did you understand everything I said so far? Those monsters found their way to our world by following the trails left behind by other interworld travelers. Earth shouldn't have discovered mana for at least another ten years, but it was sped up because of how many Dimensional Tears were being opened here. That girl you're harboring, she already led one group to Earth. And it won't be long before she leads even more to you. Next time, it could be your sister, or even worse, your mother who's targeted. Give her to me and I'll make sure your family is safe. I'll make sure I take care of her."

There was an experssion of absolute openness on Cerci's face that made him look like a man that you could trust. The stories that Jason had heard from Cerci, as well as the easygoing, open personality that Cerci was displaying, would have been enough to make anyone become relaxed and trusting around him, but Jason was different. Jason still remembered the message that his father gave him through the [Book of the Apocalypse], and there was nothing that would make Jason trust Cerci after a warning like that.

Jason's words came out very calmly, but they were enough to wipe the smile off Cerci's face.

"Thanks for stopping by, Cerci. If you need to talk to me in future, then you can reach out to me personally, but I never want to see you around my mother's house again."

Jason stuffed his hands in his pockets and turned to walk away, and Cerci watched him with narrowed eyes before he said,

"I hope you won't come to regret this decision, Jason. The world you're a part of is far more dangerous than you think."

Jason didn't bother turning around. He just raised his hand and waved back at Cerci before he entered the house. Once Jason was gone, Cerci scoffed in irritation before his expression shifted from the easygoing look he had previously to a blank, pessimistic look that made him appear more like the dangerous man he was. A beautiful woman emerged from the side and approached Cerci with a coat, and Cerci allowed the long coat to be put over his shoulders. He took out a cigarette from his pocket, and the woman produced a lighter and helped him light the cigarette before speaking up respectfully.

"Are we really just going to let him leave, sir? I thought you said you wanted to make him trust you."

Cerci blew out smoke and shrugged.

"I can't do that anymore, his father already got to him first. If he didn't know anything about me, then maybe we could have lured him over to our side, but the way things are now, we can only hope to have a similar relationship as what we had with his father."

The woman stared in the direction Jason had gone before she said,

"And why don't we just force him into obeying us, sir? I could feel his power earlier, and he is only an S Rank. It wouldn't be that hard for me to subdue him."

The woman was a high-level S Rank, so she was sure that she had more power than what she had sensed from Jason, but Cerci waved the woman's suggestion away immediately.

"No, don't be stupid. He might be an S Rank now, but he was an A Rank only a week ago. His growth rate is even higher than what his father possessed, so it won't be long before he becomes something beyond our control. I wouldn't want to make an enemy of someone like that. The best course of action is to make sure we maintain a good relationship with him and leave him to keep growing. He already has a lot of attachments to the people of Earth, so at least we can be sure that he will fight to protect us if things get out of hand like before. Besides, didn't you read his files? He is a Necromancer, so he has more power than what you're sensing."

"And what of the interworld traveler he is with? Will she not cause problems?"

Cerci frowned when the woman asked this, and he took another drag from the cigarette before he sighed to release the smoke.

"Forget her for now. I would've liked to study her, but it's not worth it. Create fake identity documents and filter them into the government archives slowly so we can claim her mutations were a result of some Gift if she is ever exposed. Also, tell our agents to move out and allow the Enforcers to come and apprehend him."

Cerci started to walk towards a high-end military-grade vehicle that was parked at the side and the woman moved away to make the call to the other agents. Cerci would have preferred to have a better relationship with Jason since he knew that Jason would be crucial for Earth's survival in the future, but he was satisfied with the way things were for now. He would just have to keep working hard towards the greater good.

Cerci got into the military-grade car and they drove away, but none of them noticed the shadow that attached itself to the car and followed after them.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC191: Merciful Lies

Chapter 191: Merciful Lies

[Mira's Apartment]

Jason stood outside his mother's door as he calmly watched Cerci drive away through his [Eye of the King]. Jason had put one of his Phantom Squads on Cerci's trail and told them to keep an eye on him and report back if they heard Cerci say anything about his family. Jason already knew that Cerci had been trying to get him to trust him, so he wasn't surprised when he heard it. And he wasn't even angry either, since he had already expected it. You shouldn't be angry when a snake tries to bite you since you already knew it was a snake.

Jason decided that he was going to follow in his father's footsteps as far as Cerci was concerned. Cerci was a useful man, and his organisation Gaia was also useful since they had the power and connections in the government, so Jason was going to use them for as long as he needed to. But Jason wasn't going to become their errand boy or their slave. If they needed his help, then he'd decide on his own if he wanted to help them or not, but they would not be summoning him and commanding him to do whatever they wanted.

Jason's gaze shifted from the phantoms following Cerci to the Phantom subordinate that he had put in charge of protecting his mother inside the house, and he saw his sister and Riyala sitting on a couch in the living room while his mother worked in the kitchen. Riyala looked tense and was trying her best to sink into the couch since she was very nervous, and Janet was just watching the news on the TV while waiting for Jason to come back. Jason opened the door and walked into the apartment, and he saw everyone perk up as they turned to him.

Mira leaned out from the kitchen and smiled at her son as she spoke.

"Are you hungry, Jason? There's some macaroni left from this morning. I'll just heat it up for you."

Jason shook his head.

"Sorry, mum. Riyala and I have to go. There're some things I have to deal with."

Mira blinked in surprise as she slowly walked out of the kitchen while cleaning her hands. This was the first time that her son would be turning down an offer of her food, and it was just too shocking for her to overlook. Mira turned to glance at the TV that was still playing images from earlier that day. Mira had heard about the dragon that people claimed flew over the city, and she knew that everyone suspected her son was riding the dragon, but that wasn't her concern.

From the footage she saw, Mira could tell that Jason wasn't just riding that dragon for no reason. Jason had been riding with the urgency to get home as quickly as possible! Mira walked up to Jason and took his hands in her own.

"Jason, I want you to be honest with me now. I'm not going to ask you about the news or the blood you're trying to hide with that coat. I understand that there are some things you are keeping from me, and that's fine. But please, I want to know what happened to Gina."

Jason had to actively struggle to keep himself calm. Jason hated lying to his mother. Ever since he was little, he had made it his number one rule to always tell his mother the truth, since she was the one who always advised him when he had to make a difficult decision. But how in the world was Jason supposed to explain this to her? How was he supposed to tell his mother that the girl she saw as a daughter was dead? That Jason had stabbed her through the heart and killed her with his own hands!

Jason couldn't do that! It would fucking break his mother's heart and he would never forgive himself for putting that sort of pressure on his mother's shoulders. Even if his mother knew that Gina could still be resurrected, it wouldn't stop her from feeling the pain! No, Jason was going to fix all of this. He didn't need to burden his mother with something that wasn't permanent. Jason sighed and spoke in a low, reassuring tone.

"Gina was attacked by someone earlier, mum. But she is going to be okay. She's resting right now, but she'll wake up soon. I promise."

Mira had gasped the moment she heard that Gina was attacked, but as Jason explained things further, her worried face began to relax a little until it was barely showing any worry at all. Mira put a hand to her forehead and looked down at the ground before she let out a sigh. She turned back to Jason and gently pulled him in for a hug as she spoke.

"I know you'll take care of everything, Jason. So please look after her."

It broke Jason's heart to hear his mother's relieved voice. Mira had so much faith in him, and he had lied to her. Jason held his mother softly and nodded into the crook of her neck. Even though he told a lie, Jason didn't have to worry about it. All he had to do was make sure that it became true. He would tear through reality itself just to make sure that he brought Gina back to life!

At the side, Riyala was watching on in curiosity. She couldn't understand what Jason and Mira were saying, but she had heard the name 'Gina' and she knew that it had to do with what had happened earlier. Would Jason really tell his mother that Gina had died? No, that wasn't possible. There was no way his mother would be that relieved if he had told her the truth! That meant he lied to her.

'Jason must be really confident in being able to bring Gina back. I wonder what sort of challenge he has to cross to make it happen. I hope he can do it.'

Riyala really liked Gina. If not for Gina convincing Jason earlier, then Riyala was sure that she would have been captured by the Phantoms the moment she landed back in Radagan, and if not for Gina taking care of her for the past few days, then Riyala would have never become so comfortable with being on Earth. Gina was a good person with a good heart, and Riyala was willing to do anything to make sure she was okay!

Riyala was lost in her thoughts for a few seconds, but she was suddenly brought back to reality as a voice spoke from beside her.

"Hey, your name's Riyala, right?"

Riyala turned to Janet in shock, and she recoiled in fright when she saw that Janet was tilting closer than before! Janet raised a brow at Riyala's reaction, but she just shook her head and ignored that. Janet looked over at Jason and Mira for a second before she spoke.

"Can you tell me what happened? You were there, right?"

Riyala raised her hands up and waved them quickly to try and get Janet to stop talking! Riyala couldn't understand a single word that Janet was saying! None of the words that Gina taught were useful here! Janet frowned when Riyala started waving at her and she scooted closer.

"Hey, what's wrong with you? Are you dumb? You can't speak?"

Riyala's waving got even more frantic, and her cheeks began to redden as she opened her mouth.

"Thank you! Sorri! Sorri!"

'Huh?'

Janet tilted her head to one side in surprise, and for a while she couldn't even start to decipher what the fuck Riyala was trying to say!

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC192: A Flight Risk

Chapter 192: A Flight Risk

"Thank you! Sori! Sorri!"

'Huh?'

Janet tilted her head to one side in surprise as she tried to figure out what Riyala was trying to say! But Janet's eyes narrowed curiously when she saw the sharp teeth that peeked out from Riyala's mouth! Those were nothing like human teeth, and Janet immediately leaned closer in curiosity to try and get a better look.

"What's wrong with your teeth—?"

"Riyala, we're leaving."

Jason called from the door in the Radagan tongue and Riyala sprang up from the couch quickly and headed straight for him. Janet stood up as well, and she asked Jason what was wrong with Riyala.

"Is she from another country? She can't understand English."

Jason nodded and told Janet that Riyala was a foreigner who became friends with Gina recently. He was looking after her until she managed to get her feet under her. Janet didn't look like she completely believed him, and even Mira was watching Riyala with a curious gaze, but Jason wasn't going to say anything more about it. He turned as he saw Mira coming over with a flask, and he gained a small smile as she handed him the flask of hot food.

"Make sure you eat well and take care of Gina, okay? I believe in you, my son. Never forget that. If you ever have anything that is troubling you, then you can always come home."

Jason released a calming breath and smiled before pulling his mother into a hug and promising her that he would keep her updated about Gina's condition. Mira hugged him back and when they separated, she caressed his cheek softly and brought him down to place a loving kiss on his forehead. Mira knew that Jason wasn't telling her the whole truth about this situation, but she trusted her son enough to know that he would always figure things out. Jason looked so much like his father in that moment that Mira couldn't help but travel back to when Richard was still with them. She was sure that Richard would be so proud of his son.

Jason bid goodbye to them, and then he and Riyala walked out of the apartment. They left the building a few seconds later, and Jason looked towards the left and waited calmly for the Enforcers to get close enough. Jason had heard the police sirens from up in the mother's apartment, and he didn't want them to come up there, so he made sure he left as quickly as possible so that they would meet him outside the apartment.

Three police vehicles and another black car arrived on the scene a few seconds later and Jason watched as the policemen got out while keeping a close eye on him. The black car parked closer than the police vehicles and Jason was glad to see Liam coming out of the car and approaching him first. Liam looked a little drained from everything that had happened today and there were dark circles around his eyelids, but he was physically fine since he was superhuman. He glanced at Riyala first before he turned to Jason and gave him a nod.

"The entire country has been looking for you. You pulled quite a stunt and vanished on us."

Jason shrugged calmly before he eyed the policemen and asked,

"Am I under arrest?"

Liam's eyes widened and he immediately raised his hands.

"No, nothing like that! We just needed to get a statement from you about what happened at your former apartment. The fire wasn't caused by you, and there hasn't been any need to open a case, so you're practically free to go on that end. The only issue we have is about the Dragon that appeared. The government is trying to make a case that you lied about your Gift and they're asking us to classify you as a flight risk until things are cleared up."

"What does that mean?"

"It means you can't leave the country until we're sure of what your actual abilities are."

"I see... there's no need to make a big deal out of it. You can tell them I'm a necromancer."

Liam blinked in surprise and then his eyes widened. A necromancer!?

"Wait, does that mean you can resurrect anything that dies?"

"That's the gist of it, yes."

"Then... that dragon? How did you get it? And how did you get this ability along with the ocular ability you have? How many monsters do you have under your control?"

"I'm not interested in sharing that information. I already told you what my Gift is, so I don't need to tell you anything else."

Liam sighed tiredly when he heard this. Jason was actually right about not needing to tell the government everything about his Gift. The only thing that superhumans were mandated to tell the government was what their Gift was. Anything about how the Gift worked wasn't necessary, and the superhumans would only need to report their increase in strength over the years.

But they had never had a case like this before! Jason was already strong enough to be classified as an S Rank, but if they considered that dragon that he summoned as well, then he would be far stronger than most S Ranks! In fact, he might even be able to take on an SS Rank! If Jason had any more monsters under his control, then his very existence could be a threat to national security! There was no way the government wouldn't want to know how many monsters Jason had under his control!

Liam sighed once again before speaking.

"I still think it's best for you to stay in the country for the meantime. At least until things blow over. I'll talk to the higher-ups, and I'll get a list of questions that they want answered. It's the only way you can get them off your back. And also... the SMD already completed the interrogation of Millicent. She's been found guilty of conspiracy to murder and the siblings have been found guilty of attempted murder."

Jason's aura immediately changed the moment he heard that last news. He turned to Liam fully and spoke in a low tone.

"Did she tell you who ordered her to do it?"

Liam took a step back from Jason when he felt the pressure and the policemen who were standing at the side reached for their guns cautiously. They didn't dare to draw them since they hadn't seen Jason attack yet, but Jason's pressure was just too much for them not to feel threatened! Liam raised his hand to tell the policemen to calm down! They weren't under attack! The policeman looked at each other cautiously before they finally listened and Liam released a breath to calm down. Liam hesitated to say anything to Jason since this was classified information, but after a while, he realized that it was better to tell Jason now and sort things out properly.

"She said it was the vice captain of the BloodRaven guild, Tobias Grant. Wait, Jason, let me finish. I didn't tell you that so you can go hunt him down. There are protocols to these things. The government is already looking for him, and we'll apprehend him once we find him. For now, we're asking you to do nothing."

Jason narrowed his eyes angrily.

"He tried to have me killed, and you're telling me to do nothing? Do you really think I'm just going to stand down because you tell me to?"

"Yes, I know you're angry, but we have things under control. There is an obvious link going all the way up through the BloodRaven guild, so we are trying to sort things out and bring in everyone who needs to be arrested. I need you to stand down."

Jason's frown deepened. Jason was no stranger to the way the government handled things. The government would always say they were working towards bringing criminals to justice, but it was all just a ruse! The government only did things to benefit themselves, and if the BloodRaven guild turned out to still be useful, then Jason was sure that the government would never bring them down. Jason wasn't going to allow the bullshit bureaucracy that the government practiced to stop him from doing what he had to.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC193: Time Alone

Chapter 193: Time Alone

Jason wasn't going to allow the bullshit bureaucracy that the government practiced to stop him from doing what he had to.

"I'll give you till noon tomorrow. If by then you don't have both the captain and vice captain in custody, then I'm going to come for them myself."

"Jason, I came here to talk to you personally so you don't do anything that would make you an enemy of the state—"

"You don't know what those bastards cost me! They were after my life, so don't tell me shit about making enemies. You either bring them in or I'll come for them myself, and I will not be taking prisoners."

Jason cut Liam off brutally! His voice was low, but the intensity in his eyes put true fear into Liam's soul! Liam knew that Jason's anger was not directed at him, but Liam could still feel the intensity like it was a physical thing weighing him down! Liam knew at that moment that Jason was not playing around. If they didn't bring the BloodRaven executives in by tomorrow, then they would have to deal with Jason himself.

'This is going to be a delicate thing to balance. Jason is an S Rank, but the BloodRaven guild is an S Rank guild. Which of them can we risk pissing off more than the other? Fuck, I hate dealing with superhumans.'

Liam was the one in charge of handling superhuman relations in Riverdale, so his priority was making sure that Jason didn't act independently. But now that they were dealing with superhumans from both Riverdale and Greenville, things were so much more complicated. Liam took in a calming breath and looked Jason in the eye before speaking.

"I'll do the best I can, but for now, please stay your hand and trust the SMD to handle things. We won't let you down."

Jason looked into Liam's eyes to make sure he was serious, and Liam stared back unflinchingly. Eventually, Jason nodded in agreement and Liam released a breath he didn't know he had been holding. He then spoke.

"We also got a message from your Superhuman Agent, Juliet Rapha. We'll send you any information we find through her."

For a second, Jason's brow furrowed in confusion before he suddenly remembered that he had signed an Agent's deal with Juliet Rapha. So she decided to become his personal agent? Jason knew it was just another move to keep her company close to him, but he didn't care at the moment since he was just too annoyed to bother with the politics of the superhuman world.

Jason told Liam to do whatever he wanted before he turned and told Riyala to follow him as he walked away. But before he could go far, Jason stopped and spoke to Liam in a calmer voice.

"Your brother, Keith... is he okay?"

Liam gained a small smile when he heard Jason ask that, and he answered calmly.

"He's a little damaged from his fight with the commander, but he'll live."

Jason hummed.

"Is he going to face any punishments from the Enforcers for helping me?"

"Yes, he'll likely be asked to pay a fine. But other than that, Commander Agiel has decided not to indict him or strip him of his rank. Truthfully, I'll say he got off with nothing but a slap on the wrist. He was rather lucky/"

Jason rubbed his neck with a small sigh of relief before he said some final words.

"You can send me a bill after everything's done, I'll cover any expenses he suffered. And also... help me extend my thanks. I didn't expect it from him, but I'm glad he was willing to help me so quickly."

Liam smiled and nodded.

"Of course, I'll be sure to let him know."

Jason finally began to walk away, but in his mind, he was already giving out orders to multiple members of his Legion. Jason commanded one of his Phantoms to leave the Alternate Dimension and follow Liam through the shadows. Jason might trust him, but he still wanted to make sure that Liam was telling him the truth. After that, Jason commanded Alpha and her ten subordinates to go out and start looking for the [Banshee's Tear]. Alpha had seen the artifact before, so she knew what it looked like, and that was enough for Jason to tell the others what they were looking for.

The Legion members moved quickly through the shadows and went to do as they were commanded.

——

[The Western Region of Riverdale]

The western region of Riverdale was one of the more expensive parts of the city. Riverdale was divided mostly into the upper and lower regions, with the lower regions being for the lower class and the upper regions for the upper class. But even within those classes, there were still more classes. The western part of Riverdale was where the richer members of the lower class went to live, and it was in this part of the city that Jason and Gina had bought an apartment for them to move into.

A shadow moved across the darkness of the street and made its way towards a large two-story duplex sitting at the end of a long driveway. There was a large courtyard and a small fence around the apartment, and it was sitting between two smaller houses that were a reasonable distance away. The shadow emerged from the ground on the driveway of the house, and Jason appeared with two large bags in his hands. Jason looked up at the building Gina had chosen with empty eyes. Riyala appeared beside Jason, and she chose to stand back and just allow Jason to move at his own pace. She could tell that Jason hadn't fully gotten used to the fact that Gina was dead, and his mental state was not at its best right now, so she had no idea what to do because of how complicated the situation was.

If this had been a normal death, then Riyala would have simply told Jason to grieve over Gina so that he would feel a little better, but Jason was hell-bent on bringing Gina back, so there was no way he would grieve.

Jason finally sighed and he walked up and opened the door with a key. He told Riyala to come inside and Riyala walked in after him and gasped at the extravagant interior. The house was empty and there were no furnitures or drapes, but the interior design and painting were absolutely beautiful. There was a door leading to the living room to the side. The room had light grey walls, and the floor was crafted from brown mahogany. There was a staircase crafted from polished wood directly in front of them and Riyala saw that it led up to the second floor. Jason dropped the two bags to one side and told Riyala that she could go freshen up and get some sleep.

"There's a bathroom upstairs and a few bedrooms. You can just pick any room to sleep in."

Riyala turned to Jason quickly when she heard him speak, but Jason had already turned away. Riyala quickly stepped toward him and placed her hand on his back. She was about to say something, but Jason shrugged her off and spoke dismissively.

"Not now, Riyala. Just... not now. I need some time alone."

Jason went into the living room and made his way towards another room at the side and Riyala looked down sadly before she went to do as Jason told her. The room Jason walked into was the downstairs bathroom and he quickly took off his cloak and clothes before freshening up to clean off the blood that had stained him from earlier. Jason walked out of the bathroom a few minutes later with only a pair of trousers on, and he used a towel to clean his hair roughly. He threw five Magic Crystals into his mouth and chewed on them absentmindedly while glancing out the window at the side.

Jason looked around the empty living room to try to find a place to sit down, but after he didn't find anything, he eventually sat down on the floor and leaned back against the living room wall with a tired sigh.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC194: New Mission

Chapter 194: New Mission

Jason's toned body glistened under the light coming from the moon outside, and water dripped from his wet hair to the floor. His body had already been impressive before he got his system because of how much he worked out, but ever since he began leveling up aggressively, he only became more toned!

Jason summoned Fenrir from his Alternate Dimension, and the large wolf appeared in all its glory. Its dark fur cast a dark shadow across the room, and each movement it made caused the muscles on its body to ripple with power. Fenrir bowed its head towards Jason once it appeared, and Jason took its head in his hands gently before joining their foreheads together. Fenrir could feel the sadness in the heart of its king, so it was trying its best to comfort the king and make him feel better.

Jason released a calm breath before telling Fenrir to come down. Fenrir sat on the ground, and Jason looked at its tab to see how far it had grown.

After the battle that Fenrir and Raya had with Agiel earlier, Fenrir finally managed to reach a hundred percent in his rank progression, so it was now possible for Jason to give it the points it needed to advance to Rook Rank II. Raya had also grown from the battle, but she was already a Rook Rank II, so it was going to take some more time for her to reach the required progression point. Jason gently rubbed behind Fenrir's ears while thinking about Agiel and the strange spark that had passed between them back at the SMD building. Jason had been too distracted to pay it much mind, but Jason wouldn't deny that a small part of him was curious about what that was, but the larger part of Jason was still annoyed by her actions back at the SMD building. Jason knew she had only been trying to do her job, but if Agiel hadn't stood in his way, then he might've reached Gina sooner. It was only a few seconds, but those seconds could've changed everything.

Fenrir released a low whine in happiness as Jason rubbed a particularly sensitive spot under his chin and Jason grinned at him before he finally turned to his system and told it to send the upgrade points.

[Would the user like to convert [5000] kill points to upgrade points? Yes/No?]

Jason chose yes, and he immediately transferred the upgrade points into Fenrir's system once it was done being converted! Fenrir slowly stood to its feet as it began to go through the changes. Its entire body began to grow in size, and its claws and teeth grew sharper and longer. The intense aura around it became more intimidating, and its red eyes began to glow with a bright light!

Jason smiled at the improvement and chuckled as Fenrir came closer and licked his face in happiness! Jason patted Fenrir on the side a few times before telling it to go back into the Alternate Dimension. Fenrir quickly obeyed, and Jason released a sigh as the house became silent once again.

Jason bowed his head and watched the tiny water droplets falling to the floor as his consciousness traveled into his Alternate Dimension. Gina's body was lying in the middle of the plain field peacefully. There was a warm light shining down on her like the sun, and a gentle breeze was blowing across the plain. All five hundred of Jason's subordinates could feel that Jason's only goal at that moment was to protect Gina, so they were all sitting around her body protectively.

Jason stayed like that for a few seconds and just stared at Gina calmly before he finally had to turn away. The pain in his heart only got worse the longer he looked at her, and he knew that the only way to make things better now was to find the [Banshee's Tears] and get strong enough to face the Lich.

Jason changed his view to one of the Rooks who was looking after his mother's apartment, and he saw that his mother had gone to bed while his sister was still in the living room watching a show on TV. Jason changed his view again to the Rook that was keeping an eye on Cerci, and he frowned when he saw that Cerci was still on the move. Cerci was making his way to the airport, and Jason could only guess that he was going to be leaving the country.

"Can I still control my subordinates from other countries? I know they can still use the Shadow Walker Authority even if they leave this world, but I don't think I'll be able to give them orders from that distance."

Jason's range for giving orders had increased a lot compared to what it was when he first got his powers, and now he could order his Legion from more than 150 kilometres [100 miles] away. But if Cerci went to another country, then it would be too far for him to give any orders. The best course of action here was to give them an absolute order now that they would have to follow even if they were outside of Jason's control.

'Keep following Cerci no matter what. Make sure no one discovers that you are there, but also make sure you don't lose him.'

Jason gave the phantom spies their order, and they sent back a confirmation of acceptance before Jason closed the mental link again. Jason allowed his mind to travel back to the conversation that he had with Liam earlier. It was now obvious that it was the BloodRaven guild leaders who had planned his death, but the real question that was bothering him now was why? Why the hell would they want him dead?

Jason had never met any of the BloodRaven guild members since they operated in an entirely different city, and he had just got his powers, so the chances of them crossing paths inside a gate were zero. The only possible reason that Jason could think of for them wanting him dead was that it was probably because of his father. Did his father do something that would make them come after him like this?

Jason's face squeezed in a frown, and he shook his head and decided not to let that bother him for now. He gave the SMD till afternoon to apprehend them, and he was also keeping an eye on them, so he was sure that he would get his answers soon enough. Instead, what Jason had to focus on now was getting strong as quickly as possible. The system told Jason that he was far weaker than the Lich he had to face later, so he needed more battle experience and subordinates.

"Are there any Gates open around me?"

Jason sent his message to the system, and it immediately sent a message back.

[A Dimensional Tear 70 miles away from the user has developed into an Orange Gate. Will the user like the system to create a mission curated for this gate? Yes/No?]

Jason chose yes, and the system immediately brought up a prompt.

——

An orange Gate is about to emerge in the city of New York. The user is tasked with clearing out this gate and killing the Gate boss in order to return the Gate to its dormant state.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC195: Take Care of Her

Chapter 195: Take Care of Her

Ring~! Ring~! Ring~!

Jason blinked in surprise and turned away from the system tab to look at the bags that he kept at the side. The bags contained all the things that hadn't burned down in their house earlier, so there were clothes, shoes, and some utensils in there. But Jason was able to immediately recognize the ringtone that was playing.

'Gina's phone.'

Jason stood up and walked over to the bag to grab the ringing phone. He looked at the caller ID and immediately felt a hollow feeling in his chest when he saw the name 'mum' with a heart blinking on the phone. Jason had known Gina's parents for a long time since both families lived close together since Jason and Gina were kids. His family and theirs had been close friends for as long as Jason could remember, and it was only after Gina's parents moved to a remote farm outside the city that they lost contact. But Jason could still remember Gina's mother as a kind woman who had taken care of him and his siblings whenever his parents were busy with the shop, along with Gina's stern father who always gave them some money to go to the candy store so they wouldn't bother him. Jason didn't know if he could talk to them right now.

Jason went back to sit against the wall, and he watched the phone ring for a few seconds before he finally picked it up.

[Hello, Gina. Gina, baby, are you there?]

"Hello."

Jason spoke up calmly, and the person on the other end of the line immediately exclaimed.

[Oh, it's you, Jason! How are you? Where is Gina?]

Jason scratched the back of his head and released a silent sigh before he answered.

"She's resting. It was a long day for her."

[Oh, yeah! I heard about the accident at your house and saw the news! They are saying it was some gas pipe explosion! Please, tell me everything is okay. Are either of you hurt?]

Jason began to nod, but he stopped when he realised that they couldn't see him. He hummed before he said that they were both fine.

"We're okay, ma'am. Gina just got really tired, so she's sleeping."

Gina's mother released a sigh of relief once she heard this and finally said,

[Okay, just tell Gina that I called to say hello and tell her to call me the moment she wakes up, okay?]

[Honey, is that Gina? Gina, is there a dragon in your apartment?]

[Oh, keep quiet, you old coot. You're going to wake her up. Jason, just take care of yourself now, son. I've always been so happy that you're there to look after our Gina. She's a bit reckless and immature, but you've always looked after her for us, so we never had to worry. Please make sure she doesn't get into any trouble, son. Thank you so much.]

Jason covered his face with his hand to try and stop his guilt from consuming him, and he made sure his voice was as calm as possible as he spoke.

"Yeah, you're welcome, ma'am. I'll look after her. I promise."

Gina's mother smiled on the other side of the phone and was about to speak up again, but she was suddenly cut off by her husband.

[Is that a marriage proposal, Jason!? I've always said you were too good for that girl. If you want to marry her, she's all yours, but make sure you actually want it! She was already a handful as a child, so she must be ten times worse now that she's older!]

[Oh, hush! Whose side are you on here? Our daughter will make a great wife! Jason, darling, thank you again for taking care of her. We'll talk to you later. Bye-bye.]

The phone beeped off as they ended the call, and Jason let out a tired breath. He turned to the side calmly and he blinked in surprise as he saw Riyala standing there. She was wearing a short gown that barely reached down to her knees, and there was water dripping from her hair to show that she had just gotten out of the bathroom. She was standing by the door, watching him with a sad look on her face, and once she was sure that he was done with his call, she spoke up.

"Are you okay?"

Riyala's voice was filled with emotion, and Jason huffed as he leaned back and hit his head on the wall. Was he okay? What a pointless question. Wasn't it obvious?

"I'm going to be busy for a while. I'm going to raid a Gate tonight and another one tomorrow, so in the meantime, you need to stay here."

Riyala's eyes widened, and she immediately took steps closer to Jason. Her bare feet left wet marks on the floor, and Jason felt his eyes widen when he looked up and saw the way the wet gown folded around her breasts. Was she not wearing any underwear? Jason turned away and threw his head back into the wall again. He wasn't interested enough to care about Riyala's modesty.

Riyala came closer until she was standing in front of Jason, and she knelt to the ground and spoke in a serious tone.

"I want to come with you, Jason."

"Why?"

'Because I care about you and I want to be with you.'

This thought passed through Riyala's mind, but she couldn't bring herself to say it. She paused for a moment before she finally spoke.

"I—I can watch your back. And I'm good with healing magic."

"I don't need anyone to watch my back, and I don't need your healing magic."

Jason's voice was emotionless, and there was a sharp bite present in it that made Riyala's heart squeeze painfully! It was almost like Jason was trying to tell Riyala that she was useless to him, but Riyala knew that she was judging Jason wrongly. This was the same man who had helped her when no one was willing to, so she knew that Jason was a good person. This version of Jason had been created by the pain of losing Gina. At that moment, Jason sounded like he didn't care about anything in the world; he was so empty. Riyala was sure that this wasn't what Gina would have wanted for Jason. She wouldn't want Jason to lose himself like this.

Riyala reached out and took Jason's hands off his face, and Jason was finally forced to look at her. She stared at Jason with a kind gaze and spoke softly.

"Jason, I've made a lot of mistakes since I came to Earth, and it's cost you a lot already. I can't think of what I would do if you went out there and hurt yourself, and I wasn't there to help you. I know I'm nothing compared to your power, but at least I can help you if you get injured. Please, let me just do something to help you. Let me do something to try and pay you back."

Riyala's plea was something that came straight from her heart. There was a strange desire inside her, and it was telling her to stay with Jason and make sure that he was okay. She had to keep an eye on him and make sure he didn't do anything stupid. Protecting Jason was all that mattered to her at that moment. She looked into Jason's empty eyes and bit her lips softly when she didn't get an answer for a few seconds. Was he really not going to accept her help? Jason had every right to tell her not to come because she knew that he was strong enough to not need her help, but she would feel really bad if she couldn't even be there for him after everything that he had done for her!

Jason finally sighed and pulled his hand back from Riyala's. He stood up and ran a hand through his hair while talking.

"You need to put on some underwear. I can see everything."

Riyala's head shot down quickly and her cheeks blew up in a blush when she saw that her nipples were showing through her nightgown! She quickly put a hand over her chest and ducked her head in embarassment!
