STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC229: The Wrong Path
Chapter 229: The Wrong Path
The man's body had shone with raw power that flowed off him in waves and he was like a beacon that flew through the dark sky and immediately challenged the Primordial without any fear! The man told the Rulers to run away, but Katarina remembered being unable to move back then because the sheer power of the two fighters had rendered her immobile. She had watched in a daze as this man stood toe to toe with a creature she was certain would have been the end of them all, and he eventually dragged it back so they both fell from another ripple and into the Primordial expanse.
Katarina didn't know why, but as she stared up at Jason's calm face, she could only think that he was similar to that man. Jason was so confident in his own ability that even the knowledge of what was truly coming for them was not enough to put fear into him. He was even daring enough to declare that he would take on the Primordials and make them suffer. There were only two types of people who could do something like this: fools who did not know their place in the world, or madmen who were willing to do anything in order to achieve victory. And against all her natural instincts, Katarina found herself curious about which of the two Jason was. Katarina wanted to watch and see if Jason could truly accomplish what he promised.
A sad smile appeared on Katarina's face as she turned down to stare at the ground. She really had gone down the wrong path. Jason was right about her all along. She had also been put in a similar situation to what Jason was facing now, but rather than betting on herself and gathering more power to try and stand up to the Primordials, she had chosen to take the easy way out. She was a fool who was incapable of seeing the bigger picture and a coward who was willing to condemn thousands of people to death just to preserve her own miserable existence.
Katarina felt tears welling up once again, but this time she didn't dare to let them fall. Instead, she reached up and touched the Rune etched into her chest before sending a burst of mana into it. The Rune pulsed with a red light before it suddenly began to burn up until it had completely vanished. Katarina then looked at Jason, and Jason's eyes narrowed when he saw the small, peaceful smile on her face.
"It appears that even now, I am still the same terrified girl who walked into that Green Gate ten years ago. I would ask for your forgiveness, but I know that I do not deserve it. Instead, I only ask that you make my death as painless as possible. It is a selfish request, but I'm sure you can tell that I am still afraid to die. So please..."
Katarina placed her hands on the floor and bowed her head to the ground once again, and in the process, she exposed the back of her neck to Jason. It was an open invitation for Jason to take her life, and Jason's eyes narrowed into a heavy glare as his hand tightened around his sword. Liam immediately put his hand up and started to approach Jason to try and stop him! The higher-ups would not be happy if they learned that Jason had killed Katarina! Even though she was a criminal now, she was still very useful since she was the country's strongest supporter! But Liam stopped when Jason turned to him with a glare! Liam's entire body froze, and he couldn't even take a single step forward once that intense glare was pointed at him! He swallowed and stepped back to watch from a distance.
Jason placed his sword against Katarina's nape, and his logic battled against his anger. Jason was angry about what Katarina had caused him and others for so long because of her selfishness, but in a way, he understood her cowardice. When Katarina went into the Gate, she was no older than sixteen; she was a child who didn't know anything about her place in the world, and she was forced to face off against monsters beyond her understanding. It wasn't a surprise that seeing the Primordial had terrified her. But that terror was no excuse for foolishness. Her actions caused Jason to be targeted, and Jason was sure that it had caused the lives of many others over the years.
Jason knew that she deserved death, but at that moment, Jason couldn't help but think that Katarina was just so pathetic. Jason clicked his tongue in disgust as he decided that he was not going to take her life. It wasn't because he was sentimental or empathetic towards her, but rather because Jason knew that she was more useful alive than dead. As one of the strongest supporters in the world, she would be useful if there were ever a situation where they needed her. Besides, Jason knew that Katarina was too pathetic to pose a real threat to him, so it would be better for her to spend the rest of her life making up for her foolishness than for her to die here. That was fitting penance as far as Jason was concerned. Jason took his sword away and tossed it back into his Alternate Dimension before he put his hands in his pockets and began to walk away. Katarina slowly opened her eyes when she heard the sound of footsteps going away from her, and she looked up in shock to see that Jason was leaving.
"Why...?"
Katarina was too shocked to say more than that single word. Why was Jason taking pity on her? She had caused pain to so many people over the years, and she knew that she deserved death for it... so why didn't he kill her? Jason didn't bother turning around to regard Katarina and he simply spoke to Liam as he left.
"She's all yours."
Liam nodded his head in thanks and quickly began to call on the Enforcers outside to come in and apprehend Katarina. Jason cleared out his [Black Fog] and once they saw that the fog was gone, the Enforcers and SMD agents quickly made their way into the building. They were all stunned when they saw the multiple dead bodies that were scattered across the halls and rooms. They all knew that Jason was a lot stronger than they thought, but being able to kill these many people in such a short time was simply terrifying! Once they got to the chapel, the Enforcers quickly went to put Superhuman Suppression cuffs on Katarina while some of the SMD agents began to move towards Jason. The agent in the lead quickly began to speak once she was close enough.
"Mr. Jason, we'd like to have a word with you concerning the recent raid. We would appreciate it if you followed us back to the SMD headquarters."
The person who spoke was a serious-looking woman with a no-nonsense air around her, and she was giving Jason a look that suggested that her words were not a suggestion but an order. Jason only gave the woman a dismissive glance before he was about to continue walking, but he suddenly stopped when he got a message in his system.
[The system has detected a significant shift in mana density in the location of the Lich.]
Jason's brow immediately furrowed while wondering what the hell the system was talking about. The system was able to sense Jason's confusion and responded quickly.
[The shift in mana density could be due to various possibilities. There are many necrotic rituals that require a significant amount of mana to be performed. But due to how significant the mana density shift is, the system has theorized that it is most likely due to the use of a significant amount of mana to open a Dimensional Tear.]
Jason frowned as he read through this message quickly and he was shocked when he finally understood what the system was trying to tell him! The Lich was leaving its Dimension!?

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC230: What Do You Mean by That!?
Chapter 230: What Do You Mean by That!?
'The Lich is leaving its dimension?'
[Yes, that is the most likely situation. The system advises the user to apprehend the Lich while it is still within it's current dimension. A migration from a creature of this calibre can only mean it has found a more suitable environment that would allow it to increase its power to even greater levels. If the user allows the Lich to complete this migration, it will take a long time for the system to retrace its location, and retrieving the Lich's heart will become exponentially more difficult.]
Jason put a hand to his forehead and cursed! The SMD agent who had been trying to bring him with her took a step back in surprise when she heard him curse, and she looked back to the other agents behind her while wondering what in the world was going on with him! The woman tried to speak up, but Jason immediately put his hand up and stopped her dismissively before he spoke to the system again.
"How long do I have before it moves?"
[From the rate of change of Mana Density, the system predicts that the user has approximately [2] hours before the Lich completes its migration.]
Jason wanted to curse, but before he was even able to do that, another notification appeared in his system.
[The system has also picked up a significant spike in mana density in the airspace around New Jersey.]
"For fuck's sake!"
Jason's outburst made the SMD agents in front of him stumble back, and the woman who had been trying to talk to him quickly decided that it would be best to leave Jason alone for now! He looked absolutely furious!
Jason took a breath to calm himself, and he asked the system what the hell was happening in New Jersey!
[From the rate of change in Mana Density, the system predicts it is the appearance of a Gate. But unlike most other gates that take a significant amount of time to fully form, this Gate appears to be forming relatively quickly and should be complete in less than two hours.]
Jason read through all this quickly, and he frowned. The appearance of a Gate wasn't something that he would normally take very seriously because he knew that there were many superhumans around who would be able to handle the Gate even if he didn't go himself, but the fact that the system thought it was necessary to warn him about the Gate meant that this was a more serious situation than most others. Deep down in his heart, Jason felt like he already knew the answer to his next question. But he still had to ask.
"What color is it?"
The system sent back a single word.
[Yellow.]
Jason immediately narrowed his eyes as he focused his mind! The fact that a Yellow Gate was about to appear wasn't the end of the world. There hadn't been a Yellow Gate in America in nearly eight years, but that doesn't mean they couldn't handle it. Right now, Jason had to make a decision quickly. The Yellow Gate appearing over New Jersey was likely going to be a great way for him to gain more subordinates and power, but he couldn't go there. If Jason wasted time waiting for the Yellow Gate, then he was sure that the Lich would move to a more beneficial environment, and it would become impossible for him to defeat it and get its heart.
The only thing that was important to Jason at that moment was creating the [Elixir of Life] and saving Gina's life, and Jason couldn't afford to worry about anything else at that time.
'I'll give the SMD a heads-up about the new gate and they can handle it themselves. I just don't have the time to care about any other mission right now.'
Jason began to head back towards where Liam was standing, and Liam was surprised when he saw Jason approaching him with a serious expression on his face. Liam quickly left the other agents that were handcuffing Katariana and made his way toward Jason curiously.
"What's wrong?"
Liam said this once the two of them were close enough to not be overheard and Jason gave Liam a straightforward rundown of exactly what was about to happen.
"There'll be a Yellow Gate in New Jersey in the next two hours. You need to gather as many guilds as possible and deal with it before it breaks."
Liam's eyes widened in shock, and he looked around to make sure no one was overhearing them before he spoke in a low whisper.
"Are you sure about this? How do you know it'll happen?"
The threat of a Yellow Gate was not something anyone in the world could joke about! Even though it had been ten years since Gates first appeared, there had been fewer than ten Yellow Gate appearances in every country in the world! And a Yellow Gate appearing was still seen as one of the most dangerous things that could happen to a country! The last Yellow Gate that appeared in Greenland ended up taking the lives of over two hundred superhumans before it was finally closed by one of the Five Rulers! It was a very serious situation, and Liam had to be sure that Jason was certain of his claims before he started mobilizing anyone!
Jason looked Liam dead in the eyes and spoke seriously.
"You have no proof other than my word. But if you want to save that city, and maybe even the country, then I suggest you listen to my warning. Mobilize every single superhuman from B Rank and above and take them to New Jersey. The Yellow Gate will kill you all if you aren't prepared for it."
Liam felt true fear filling his heart as he heard Jason speak, and once Jason was finished, Liam ran a shaky hand over his face! But something that Jason said suddenly made Liam pause in shock, and he turned to Jason and asked.
"What do you mean 'us'? Where are you going?"
Jason looked away for a second before calmly turning back to Liam and speaking in a slightly apologetic tone.
"I'm sorry, but there's something I have to do. I can't be there."
"What do you mean, you can't!?"
Liam suddenly lost his cool, and nearly every agent in the room turned to him in shock! Liam's face was contorted in a look of furious panic as he stepped close to Jason! Does Jason have any idea what he was doing here!? This could be the end of the fucking country, and he was leaving them to deal with it alone!? That was bullshit! Liam grabbed Jason by the shoulders and tried to speak some sense into him!
"You're the strongest superhuman in the country and you're saying you can't be there!? We're depending on you, for Christ's sake! What reason could you possibly have!?"
Jason's face was set in stone as he weathered Liam's anger with ease. Jason understood that Liam was scared. No one would be able to keep their cool if they heard that they were going to be facing off against an entire Yellow Gate very soon, especially someone like Liam who was just an office worker. But Jason had his own battles to fight, and he was not going to abandon the woman he loved for anything.
Jason calmly took Liam's hands off his shoulders and spoke reassuringly.
"I'll return as quickly as I can, but you need to prepare for the worst-case scenario in case I don't make it back before the Gate appears. Gather as many guilds as possible and make a plan to send the strongest superhumans into the Gate. You've proven yourself to be a dependable person, so I'll leave things in your hands."
Liam's face was still squeezed in furious panic, and he wasn't able to even say a single word before Jason took a step back and vanished into the shadow beneath him.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC231: Making Changes
Chapter 231: Making Changes
Jason activated the [King's Substitute] skill and he appeared in the middle of an abandoned warehouse in the city of Riverdale. One of his Rook Class subordinates vanished from the warehouse as they switched places, and Jason looked around the warehouse calmly as his Phantoms bent to one knee in respect. He only glanced at them for a moment before he turned away to look at the bodies that had been piled to one side. Tobias Grant and all the other members of his Guild that ran to this city together had been killed by the Phantoms, and Jason wasted no time as he put his hand towards them and sent a surge of mana forward.
"Resurrect."
Jason's will immediately overrode the will of every single person there, and Jason watched as their souls were extracted from their bodies. There were fifteen of them in total, but only Tobias was an A Rank. All the others were split between B and C Ranks, and Jason frowned as he saw the number of stat points he had gotten for their resurrection.

Once Jason was done with the resurrections, he quickly glanced to the side to see how far his stats had improved. Jason's plan had been to improve all his stats to SS before he would go to fight against the Lich. He thought that he would be able to get up to SS Rank after the two Gates they cleared last night, but it wasn't enough.

Only two of Jason's four stats were at the SS level, but the other two were already very close to getting there, and Jason knew that if he killed a few more monsters and resurrected them, then they would finally achieve his goal. But this result was still very good and Jason was more than happy with how far he managed to grow in such a short time.
'I'll have to take all the monsters I have with me. I'll leave the Phantoms that are protecting Mum and Janet, and I'll also leave a few Phantoms to look after Riyala since I don't know what Cerci will do when I'm not here. Other than them, everyone else needs to come with me.'
Jason glanced towards his system once more to see just how many subordinates he had, and he hummed at the number.
——
Number of Pawn Class Subordinates: [766/3000]
Number of Rook Class Subordinates: [21/50]
Number of Bishop Class Subordinates: 0
Number of Knight Class Subordinates: 0
Number of Queen Class Subordinates: 0
——
Jason's subordinate count had grown significantly compared to last night, and Jason was sure it was because of the two Gates they raided between then and now. Jason told all of the Rooks that didn't have any subordinates to come out, and they appeared in front of Jason. The Rooks without subordinates were the ones that Jason had only gained recently, which included the five nuns that had been protecting Katarina, the large Swamp Viper that Raya had defeated, and Tobias Grant.
'They won't be enough.'
Jason frowned while looking at the lineup in front of him. He only had twenty-one Rooks and he was going to have to leave about three of them behind since he needed them to look after his family and Riyala. That left him with nineteen Rooks and just over seven hundred Pawns. That was definitely not going to be enough firepower to handle the monsters he would meet when he goes to face the Lich. The system told him that the Lich was as strong as the Leviathan Rank Boss of a Yellow Gate, so most of its subordinates would be in the same power range as Jason's Rooks. If Jason tried going in there with only this many Rooks, he would get decimated.
But Jason already had a plan to get more strength quickly. Jason had been storing up a lot of Kill Points for a long time now because he was waiting for his Rooks to reach a hundred percent in their hierarchy so he could upgrade them. But since Jason didn't have time to waste anymore, he was going to throw that plan away and he would focus on upgrading the Pawns instead! This plan would provide Jaosn with two huge benefits. The first would be the increased number of Rook Rank subordinates that could help him in a fight, and the second was the power boost Jason would gain from upgrading his Legion! If the Legion became more powerful, then Jason would also gain improvements in his stats and mana! That means he might be able to make it to SS Rank before he goes to fight the Lich.
'No, not just making it to SS Rank, I'll probably shoot past it significantly.'
Jason had saved up more than ninety thousand kill points after going into Gates continuously, so he would gain a lot from using them. Jason decided that he was going to use up a majority of them to raise his Pawn Rank III's into Rooks. Jason had been saving these points for Ragnar and Raya, but he couldn't wait anymore.
It takes two thousand kill points [20 upgrade points] to upgrade one Pawn Rank III subordinate to a Rook Rank I. If Jason converts eighty thousand of his kill points, then he would get eight hundred upgrade points, and that would be enough to upgrade forty Pawn Rank III's to Rooks. Jason quickly began making the conversions once he was sure of his calculations, and a system prompt came up.
[Would the user like to convert 80,000 Kill points to Upgrade Points? Yes/No]
Jason chose yes and he watched as the kill points tab reduced to only sixteen thousand while the upgrade points tab increased by eight hundred. Jason decided not to use the sixteen thousand kill points that he still had since he didn't know when he would need them. It was better to have some spare kill points just in case.
Now, Jason had to pick out which of his subordinates he was going to upgrade. The Adamantine Ants were an easy option. Not only did they have high defenses, but they could also fly, and their attack power was high, so Jason was going to upgrade twenty of them to Rook Rank I's. The next obvious choice was the Iron-Bladed Falcons. They also had high attack and defense stats, and the fact that they could fly even faster than the Adamantine Ants gave them more of an advantage in the air. Jason would upgrade ten of the Pawns to Rooks.
'Should I upgrade the Swamp Vipers? They're very powerful in the water, but if I end up in an arid region, then they won't be at full power. I'll just upgrade five of them so I'll have six Rooks from there.'
Jason still had a hundred upgrade points left, and he decided that he would use them on the Moonlight Wolves. The Moonlight Wolves were the fastest of Jason's Legion on land, so if he needed a group to charge forward towards the enemies, then they would be the best bet.

Once Jason was done making his choices, the system brought up a new prompt.
[The user has chosen [20] Adamantine Ants, [10] Iron Bladed Falcons, [5] Swamp Vipers, and [5] Moonlight Wolves. Would the user like to transfer upgrade points to these Subordinates? Yes/No?]
Jason chose yes, and he watched as the upgrade points were transferred to his subordinates. All of the subordinates immediately began to go through changes. The monsters grew larger and more ferocious, their attack weapons became sharper, and Jason grinned as he saw the increase in his Legion's power reflecting in his own stats.

The damage done by this blast is [10x] higher than the Rook's maximum damage output, and it will lead to the death of the Sacrificed Rook. Once sacrificed, it will take [10] mins before the sacrificed Rook can be resurrected.
[Milestone 4: Gain 300 Rook Class Subordinates]
-> ???
——
Jason hummed curiously while reading through the new Rook Ability, and he couldn't help but frown slightly at the information. The new skill was very useful, and Jason knew that it was going to help him if he was ever caught in a situation where there were too many enemies surrounding his subordinates, but that didn't mean Jason liked the idea that he wouldn't be able to resurrect his Rooks for the next ten minutes. If he were ever in a situation where his subordinates were outnumbered, then he would need to get them back as quickly as possible so he didn't get overwhelmed.
'But this could also be pretty useful. That Pawn class ability allows the pawns to gain a hundred percent power boost whenever their commanding Rook dies. So if there's a situation where I need to use Kamikaze, then I won't need to worry that much since all the pawns under that Rook will be twice as powerful. I'll have to put more Pawns under the weaker Rooks so I can use them for Kamikaze and spare the stronger Rooks for the battles.'
Jason was already going through various scenarios in his mind and nodded to himself as he was able to figure out how best to use this new ability. Jason turned his attention back to all the new pieces that had just been upgraded to Rooks. They were only Rank I's, so they could only take ten Subordinates each, and Jason quickly told the Pawns that didn't have any Rook Rank General to go and stay behind each of them. They all got ten Pawns each, and Jason saw the notification informing him that he now had a total of six hundred and ten Pawn Class Rook Subordinates.
Jason dismissed the notification and placed his hand on Raya's head as she lay beside him patiently.
Jason knew that this was going to be the biggest challenge he had ever faced, and he wasn't surprised when he felt a strange sensation rising in his heart. Most people would think that this sensation was nervousness, but Jason knew better than that. It wasn't that he was nervous. Jason was excited. And he was curious to see just how well his Legion would perform against another creature that possessed a similar power to him.
'The Lich will also have hundreds of Subordinates, so I can't relax at all once I get in there. I don't know what other abilities he would have, and I don't even know what the terrain will be like, but I have to make sure I hit the ground running.'
Jason's brow furrowed before he shook his head and told his Legion to return to the Alternate Dimension. They all vanished, and Jason activated his [King's Substitute] and switched places with the Rook that had been guarding his mother's apartment. The distance was only a few hundred miles, so it cost about two thousand MP to make the journey. Jason rose out of the shadows outside Mira's door and knocked on it a few times before opening it.
"Mum?"
Mira leaned out from the kitchen with a wide smile on her face once she heard Jason's voice, and she quickly came out to meet her son!
"Jason! I was just about to call you. You look so tired! Didn't you get any rest at all last night?"
Mira ran her hand over her son's cheeks with a worried look on her face, and Jason smiled at his mother and held her hands to tell her to calm down. He looked around for Janet but didn't see her anywhere, so he asked his mother where she was.
"Oh, she had a call, so she went to her room. It seemed important."
Jason narrowed his eyes at that bit of information and he quickly sent a command to one of the Phantoms guarding the house and told it to go and see what his sister was up to before he refocused on his mother again and spoke to her.
"I need you to stay home with Janet today. Don't go to the shop."
Mira's face immediately squeezed in confusion! What in the world was Jason talking about! This wasn't the first time Mira would hear Jason telling her not to work, but for some reason, she could tell that this was a much more serious situation than the others! Jason usually told her not to work because he was worried about her health, but he had never spoken like this before. Mira immediately knew that there was something up!
Mira put her hand on Jason's arm and spoke seriously.
"Jason, what's wrong? Did something happen to the shop?"
Jason shook his head and said that the shop was fine.
"It's likely not going to reach Riverdale, but there's going to be a fight soon. A big one. You'll hear about it on the news later today, so I need you to stay here where I know you're safe. I'm putting some guards around the house to make sure nothing bad happens. Do you understand?"
Mira still wasn't completely convinced. She looked like she had a lot of questions and was more than prepared to force some answers out of Jason, but Mira suddenly saw the intense look in her son's eyes and she was reminded once again of her husband and the look he had given her ten years ago. This was the same look he had before he vanished.
Tears welled up in Mira's eyes, and she stepped close to her son.
"Jason... where are you going?"

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC233: Come Back Safe
Chapter 233: Come Back Safe
Mira stepped closer to her son and spoke in a low voice as tears welled up in her eyes.
"Jason... where are you going?"
Jason blinked in surprise when his mother asked him this. Jason hadn't said anything about going anywhere, so how in the world did his mother suddenly know about that? Jason ran a hand through his hair and released a calm sigh before he gave his mother a smile.
"I'm not going anywhere dangerous, mum."
"Don't you lie to me, Jason! You're lying to me! You look like you're about to disappear!"
Mira could see the hard resolve in Jason's eyes, and she knew that he only had that look when he was completely dedicated to doing something. She felt like this might be the last time she would see her son!
Jason took his mother by the shoulder and leaned down to kiss the top of her head. Mira joined her hands together and put them to her chest, and she closed her eyes desperately as she listened to Jason's heartbeat. It was the only thing grounding her at that moment and preventing her from breaking down. Mira didn't know what she would do if Jason vanished like Richard.
"I'll be back before you even know I'm gone, mum. Don't worry about me."
"Promise me... Promise you'll come back."
Mira said this while putting her hand over Jason's heart, and Jason looked up at the figure standing on the other side of the living room. His sister was leaning against the door while watching the two of them, and Jason felt his eyes narrow into a glare once he saw her. Jason had to bury the anger in his heart as he turned away from her and spoke to his mother in a soothing voice.
"I promise, mum. I'll be back before you even know it. And when I come back, I'll make sure everything goes back to the way it was."
...
Jason walked out of his mother's apartment at the same time that the Rook he had switched places with returned. The Phantom's Rook slid out from the shadow, and Jason told it to make sure it watched over his mother and sister carefully. If anyone with a mana signature comes within a thousand meters of the house, then they were to be on guard immediately! The Phantom nodded seriously, and Jason turned to glance at the house once more before he said,
"Also, keep an eye on Janet and listen to any phone calls she makes after I leave. Tell me what she talks about when I get back."
The Phantom nodded to Jason once again, and Jason pulled his cloak up to cover his lower face while releasing a calm sigh. There were a lot of things Jason needed to take care of here on Earth, but he wouldn't be able to do any of that until he got Gina back. Jason finally turned away and he started walking down the deserted street. It had only been about ten minutes since Jason left Liam in Greenville, and Jason was sure that Liam would have warned the appropriate forces about the incoming danger by now. Jason was a little pissed that he wouldn't be here to handle the Yellow Gate himself since he knew that it would have helped him grow even stronger, but he had to focus on his priorities. And right now, Gina was at the top of his list.
Jason grabbed his phone and made a quick call, and the phone rang for a few seconds before someone picked up.
[Jason, is that you? I'm watching the news now and they said you were at the BloodRaven raid! Are you still there!? I'm on my way to Greenville, so make sure you don't give anyone any interviews!]
Juliet's voice rang through the phone in concern, and Jason had to put it away from his ear with a grimace from how loud her voice was! Didn't she know he had superhuman hearing? Why the hell was she shouting?
"Calm down, Juliet. I left already. You don't need to go to Greenville."
Jason managed to calm Juliet down with that one sentence. Juliet stopped just before entering her car and looked at the phone in surprise. Juliet had been standing outside Jason's apartment as she prepared to leave but she let out a sigh of relief once she heard that Jason was no longer in Greenville. There were just too many things that could go wrong if the reporters and news stations managed to get Jason on television right now. It was better for the media to continue speculating and assuming things, and then she would go on air later and give them a well-crafted reason for Jason's actions!
Juliet closed the car door and spoke calmly.
[Are you on your way back already? Griselda and I managed to sort things out with the guild formation, so if you come back, we can fill you in—]
"Juliet, I'm going to be gone for a while."
Jason suddenly cut Juliet off, and she blinked in surprise and said:
[What? Gone? Gone where?]
"Somewhere far away. I can't really explain it to you over the phone, and I don't have time to come explain it in person. I need you, Griselda, and Riyala to stay inside the house until I get back. You'll see the news on TV talking about something in New Jersey soon, but don't you dare leave the house, do you understand?"
Juliet was starting to get more worried the longer she heard Jason talking. It was sounding like there was a war coming or something!
[Jason, I still don't understand. What's happening in New Jersey? Why won't you be here?]
Jason ran a hand through his hair, and he decided that it might be better to just come clean with Juliet. His next words shook Juliet to the core.
"A Yellow Gate is going to appear over New Jersey."
[W-What!? Yellow? But... But—]
Juliet was so shocked that she couldn't even form a coherent sentence! The mere thought of a Yellow Gate appearing in any part of the world was enough to shock anyone, and Juliet was no different! She had read about the appearances of Yellow Gates before and just how many superhuman lives were lost every time! This was not the sort of thing anyone would joke about, so Juliet knew that Jason was telling the truth. But what she was actually stunned by was the fact that Jason had said he was going somewhere!
[You're not going to help!?]
"Like I said, I'll be busy. I already told the authorities what's going to happen, so they'll take care of it. Just follow my orders for now, Juliet. I'll see you when I get back."
[Wait! Jason!]
Juliet quickly called out to Jason before he could cut the phone, and Jason hummed into the phone. Juliet bit her lip worriedly for a moment before she spoke.
[Be careful, and please come back soon.]
Jason nodded with a quick 'sure' before he cut the phone. Jason then turned and spoke to the system.
"Where do I need to go?"
[The Lich is located three Dimensional Leaps away from Earth. To open the first Dimensional Tear, the user must travel to the location [39°04′N 75°10′W] on Earth.]
Jason immediately brought out his phone to set his GPS to that location, and he saw that it was the Delaware Bay, a few hundred miles away. He set his phone to show him the right direction before he fell into the shadow and began making his way out of Riverdale.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC234: Leaving Earth
Chapter 234: Leaving Earth
[Greenville]
[With Liam and The Enforcers.]
Liam watched as Jason fell into the shadow, and he grit his teeth and let out a deep sigh. The situations that Liam had been finding himself in since last night were really starting to take their toll on his health, and Liam knew he was slowly losing his mind. Normally, Liam would have never lost his cool the way he did. He was the sort of person who always tried to find the best solutions to an issue no matter how impossible it seemed, but he just couldn't maintain his cool when he heard Jason saying that he wouldn't be here.
"Mr. Liam. What just happened?"
The SMD agent who had been speaking to Jason before the system's message came in began walking up to Liam. She had a confused look on her face, and she could tell that something serious had happened from the conversation she heard between Jason and Liam. Liam ran a hand through his hair and began to think of how the hell he was going to explain this to everyone! Jason's warning wasn't something they could take lightly, but it was also just that: a warning. There was no proof other than Jason's words, and if Liam started to take this seriously, then he would be asking an entire city to trust him based off of nothing substantial.
'But wasn't that enough?'
Liam could tell that there was a lot more to Jason's powers than what they had discovered, so even though it seemed insane, it was very possible that Jason had a way to detect Gates before they even opened! And when Jason had been speaking to him, Liam hadn't seen a fucking shred of humor in those eyes! Jason had been as serious as ever about this situation! Besides, as the current strongest superhuman in America, who else were they going to trust? Jason had given them a chance by telling them about the Gate beforehand, so it was now up to Liam to make sure he didn't waste that chance!
Liam's eyes hardened as he felt his mind clearing out and returning to its usual sharpened state! He would have time for rest later! For now, he needed to get everyone to New Jersey!
"There's been a development in the city of New Jersey! I need all available Enforcers and SMD Agents above B Rank to begin moving towards the city as combat backup! Hector! Get me a straight line to the Chief Commander of the Enforcers! I need him to mobilize the Enforcers for this! And also get a straight line to the SMD President! We need to gather as many S Rank superhumans as possible! Jackson, gather all the SMD agents below B Rank and have them move towards New Jersey immediately! They're on evacuation duty and we need to get every civilian out of there as quickly as possible!"
Liam started belting out orders at a rapid pace, and for a moment everyone was so stunned by the development that they didn't move at all! The female Enforcer who had spoken to Liam came forward again and asked Liam what was going on in a low, desperate voice, and Liam finally barked out a dreaded response!
"A Yellow Gate is about to appear above the city of New Jersey, and we need to be ready for when it does!"
Gasps rang out across the room, and the Enforcers and SMD agents looked from one person to the other like they couldn't believe what they had just heard! The woman who had spoken to Liam took a step back as his eyes widened, and Liam cursed! Liam knew they would be shocked and he couldn't blame them for it, but they really didn't have any time for this!
"I need you all to move! Now!"
Liam's shout immediately sparked the room into action and all the agents quickly began to go and do as they were told! They began making the calls up the executive ladder that Liam had asked for and Liam began to walk out of the mansion! He needed to get to New Jersey and talk to the Director of the SMD over there! If they were going to deal with this, then the entire country needed to come together!
...
[Delaware Bay]
The sun had already begun to fully form in the sky over the Delaware Bay and the water of the flowing river seemed to glisten in the rising golden light. There were lovers walking across the side of the Bay, and children could be seen laughing happily as they ran beside their parents. Small fishing boats carrying two or three people each crested across the surface of the saltwater bay as the fishermen returned from a long night of professional or hubby fishing.
At the side, away from all the happiness and laughing, Jason appeared from the shadow with a frown on his face. Jason looked to the side calmly to see if anyone had seen him and he blinked down at a little boy holding a balloon on a string. The boy was looking up at Jason with awe in his eyes and Jason gave the boy a small nod. The boy's eyes widened and glistened with adoration once he saw Jason nod and he shouted:
"Are you a superhuman!? That's so cool! I can't wait to tell my friends about this!"
Jason walked forward before the boy could turn around to call his friend and he stopped him. Jason patted the boy on the head with a small smile and the boy seemed to grow even more excited when Jason touched him! Jason brought out his phone and looked at the coordinates once again. The map was showing that Jason was only a few hundred meters away from the exact point, and Jason looked up with a frown and saw that he was standing right in front of the Bay.
'It's underwater?'
Jason wasn't happy about the location, but he didn't care about being bothered by it! He ruffled the boy's hair once last time before he ran forward and dived into the lake! The boy ran to the edge of the bay and looked down with a shout, but Jason was already gone!
Once Jason entered the water, he felt the passive skill [Aquamarina] activate itself as he began breathing normally! Jason angled himself downward and put his hand out as he called on one of the large Swamp Viper Rooks in his Legion! The Rook appeared, and it allowed Jason to hold onto it before it began to swim rapidly to the bottom of the lake! The water got darker and the pressure rapidly increased as Jason got deeper, but thankfully, Jason's superhuman body was more than capable of withstanding the pressure, and his [Predator's Gaze] allowed him to see through the darkness easily.
As Jason got closer to the bottom of the lake, he heard a distinct 'ding' coming from his system and he glanced to the side to see the notification there!
[The user has arrived at the designated position. Releasing a significant amount of mana [>3000 Magicules] here will open the Dimensional Tear.]
Jason wasted no time as he let go of the Swamp Viper, and he put his hand forward and unleashed close to four thousand units of mana all at once! A crack tore through the space in front of Jason, and Jason watched as it slowly began to expand until it was wide enough for him to fit through! Jason swam into the crack and vanished into another world.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC235: Neputin and Gruen
Chapter 235: Neputin and Gruen
[The World of Neputin]
[One Dimensional Leap Away From Earth.]
After crossing through the Dimensional Tear, Jason thought he would arrive on dry land, and he had already angled his body in a way that would allow him to land properly, but he was shocked when he swam out of the Dimensional Tear and appeared in another body of water.
[The user has arrived in the Aquatic World of Neputin. The location of the Next Dimensional Tear is [1000] miles North-West of the user's current location.]
Jason looked at the system notification and narrowed his eyes before he turned away to look around. The water didn't seem any different in this world than it did on Earth, but Jason could feel a lot more pressure on him compared to when he had been in the Delaware Bay, and he also couldn't see that far away. This meant that Jason was a lot deeper underwater than before. The system said this was an Aquatic world, so Jason wouldn't be surprised if he was thousands of miles underwater.
'I need to get out of here quickly. I can't see too far and I don't know what sort of monsters are in here? System, what is the Rank of this world?'
Jason sent a message to the system and the system responded that Neputin was a 'Rank III' world. Jason cursed as he quickly called on the Swamp Viper once more! Earth was only a Rank II because they only discovered mana a few years ago and their strongest being was around SS Rank, so this world being Rank III meant that mana had been a part of it for hundreds of years and they had multiple beings higher than SS Rank! Jason couldn't stay in one place too long!
'Give me directions!'
Jason commanded the system, and he saw the notification pointing an arrow in the right direction for him to move. Jason told the Swamp Viper to begin going and it quickly swam off in that direction! The journey was silent and almost peaceful, and it continued in this way for the next ten minutes. They were moving at a very fast pace, so Jason knew that they would be at the next Dimensional Tear soon, but for some reason, Jason couldn't get rid of the feeling that there was something watching him.
The ocean was dark, and even with his [Predator's Gaze], Jason could barely see more than two hundred meters in front of him. The silence of the ocean was nearly deafening, and Jason could feel adrenaline rushing through his body as it prepared itself for any sudden situation!
'I haven't seen any monsters since I started moving. There are only two reasons why an area with this much mana won't have any monsters. Either this world is too large and the monsters are just too far away... or I'm in the territory of a beast—'
Blink!
Jason's body suddenly tensed as his thoughts were cut short! He turned to the side sharply as he saw a giant light blink in and out of existence and Jason's eyes widened in shock as the light opened once again, and a giant black iris turned to look directly at him! That was not a fucking light! That was an eyeball!
"Fuck!"
The mana in the area suddenly shot up to astronomical levels as the darkness of the ocean began to move and Jason commanded the Swamp Viper to speed up immediately! The Swamp Viper began to swim like its life depended on it and Jason took a chance to look behind him and see what was there!
BWOOOMM!!
It was a monster unlike anything Jason had ever seen in his life. Its entire body was covered by the darkness of the ocean, so Jason couldn't tell just how long it was, but the part of its head that were exposed by the [Predator's Gaze] was terrifying enough to make a lesser man die on the spot! It had a circular head with wrinkles that made it look like a giant catfish, but its size was so impossible that Jason and the Swamp Viper looked like toothpicks in front of it! The monster opened its mouth and Jason cursed when he saw a deep, cavernous darkness staring back at him from behind jagged teeth!
Jason knew he didn't have a fear of giant sea monsters like most people did, but even the most fearless person would feel uncomfortable staring into that creature's mouth — it was like a black hole trying to suck you into the void!
From the black hole of the creature's mouth, multiple long appendages flew out and began to head towards Jason! The appendages were pink and long like tongues, but each of them had multiple rows of teeth at their ends and they clicked their teeth together like piranhas that had just smelled blood! Jason immediately called on his Legion, and more than two hundred of his Pawns appeared from his alternate dimension and charged towards the incoming tongues! Jason knew that the Pawns wouldn't stand a chance against the monsters! In fact, only Ragnar and Raya might put up a good fight at all! But Jason wasn't trying to kill the beast! He was trying to get the fuck away from it!
Jason looked to the side to see his system notification, and he felt a smile spread on his face when he saw a new message.
[The user has arrived at the designated position. Releasing a significant amount of mana [>5000 Magicules] here will open the Dimensional Tear.]
Jason immediately unleashed close to six thousand units of mana at the same time that the monster behind him released another low, rumbling roar! The space in front of Jason began to crack as a new Dimensional Tear appeared and the monsters seemed to realize what was happening as it sped up! Its large, cavernous mouth began to gather all of the Subordinates that had been fighting against its appendages like a whale gathering sardines into its mouth, and the moment it felt it was close enough, it slammed its mouth shut around Jason and his subordinates!
BOOM!
The sound was like a nuclear bomb and massive shock waves travelled across the world of Neputin as the beast unleashed another loud roar.
BWOOOOMM!!!
...
[The World of Greun]
[Two Dimensional Leaps Away From Earth]
A long crack tore through the air in the sandy plains of Greun and Jason released a grunt as he and his Swamp Viper tumbled out and landed on the desert floor. Jason turned around to lay flat on his back and he squinted up at the three suns in the sky while releasing a tired sigh. The Swamp Viper moved around uncomfortably on the sand, and Jason could tell that it was not used to such arid environments. Jason sent it back into his Alternate dimension, and it released a thankful hiss as it vanished. Jason then sat up calmly and looked around.
[The user has arrived on the Arid World of Greun. The location of the final Dimensional Tear is 10 miles East of the user's current location.]
"Ten miles. That shouldn't take long. Ragnar should be able to get here in less than five minutes. System, what is the rank of this world?"
Jason asked this question while getting off the floor and dusting himself off. He already dreaded hearing another 'Rank III', but he released a sigh of relief when the system sent back that this was only a 'Rank II' world. Jason had no intention of running into another monster like the last one.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC236: The World of The Ruen
Chapter 236: The World of The Ruen
'What's the rank of this world?'
Jason asked this question while getting off the floor and dusting himself off. He already dreaded hearing another 'Rank III' from the system, but he released a sigh of relief when the system sent back that this was only a 'Rank II' world. That meant it wasn't that different from Earth, and the people of this world had only discovered magic a few years ago. Jason called on Ragnar, and the large dragon appeared from his Alternate Dimension in all its glory. Ragnar flapped its wings excitedly and raised a gale wind that blew dust around, and Jason leapt off the ground onto Ragnar's back.
"Let's go!"
Ragnar pushed off the ground with a massive flap of his wings and he soared through the sky at a quick pace while Jason kept his eyes on the notification tab beside him that showed him the way to go. As they moved, Jason caught sight of various creatures down on the ground. There were some large beasts that looked like lizards with two heads, and they skittered through the desert and buried themselves under the sand once they saw Ragnar's shadow pass over them. Another area had a herd of beasts that were eating a weird brown patch of leaves that grew out from a sand dune. There were some creatures that looked like men and women with green skin standing around the grazing monsters, and they all looked up in surprise and screamed in shock when they saw Ragnar!
Jason didn't pay any mind to the inhabitants of this world, but he felt his eyes travel down when they got close to an oasis in the middle of the desert. There was a wall built around the oasis, and various beasts adorned with velvet clothes and gold chains were standing around calmly. There were guards with long polearms looking up at Jason suspiciously, and inside the oasis, three naked women were having their bath and laughing together.
Their figures were very similar to what a beautiful woman on Earth would look like with their large breasts and wide hips, but the only difference was that they had green skin and bright yellow eyes that shone in the desert sun. They all looked up at Jason with awe on their faces when Ragnar passed over them, and one of the girls grew slightly red when she met Jason's eyes. She put one hand over her chest to hide her breast and waved up at Jason with a smile, and the other two girls laughed as they joined her to wave at him! Jason only spared them a glance before he directed Ragnar to speed up, and Ragnar let out a loud roar as he took off even faster!
It took less than three minutes for Jason to reach the location his system had directed him to, and Ragnar landed with a heavy thud and let out a huff of smoke as it bent its head for Jason to get down. Jason slid off to the sand and immediately sent Ragnar back into his Alternate Dimension.
[The user has arrived at the designated position. Releasing a significant amount of mana [>2000 Magicules] here will open the Dimensional Tear.]
Jason put his hand forward and unleashed more than two thousand units of magic, and he watched as a long blue line formed in the sky! The line split open into a Dimensional Tear, and Jason's eyes narrowed in focus as he walked through the Tear.
...
[The World of Ruen]
[The Wild Plains of the Immortal Lich]
The world of Ruen was a dark world with a sky that was completely covered with a blanket of smoke and clouds that blocked out the sun and cast the floor below in darkness. Its landscape was desolate, and the only signs of life that could be seen in every direction were wild trees that had adapted to survive in the harsh and unforgiving environment. The smoky sky did not allow any rain to fall to the soil, so the trees had deep strong roots that siphoned the water out from deep underground, and this made the soil even more flaky and inhospitable for every other species.
Unlike other worlds that possessed various forms of life in both intelligent people and less intelligent magical beasts, Ruen was one of those worlds that had been completely taken over by one creature that was far more powerful than everything else in that world. And in the case of Ruen, the creature that took over it was known as the Immortal Lich. To the people of Ruen, the Immortal Lich had appeared like a plague upon them on a completely random day. Like an unnoticed and unstoppable force that managed to eradicate more than ninety percent of their world before they could even begin to mount a proper defense against him. The first people to encounter the Lich were a couple of Ruens who had been hiking through the mountains as they tried to enjoy their peaceful marriage. The Ruens were tall creatures with the upper body of men and the lower body of goats. They enjoyed wine and nature, so you could always find them in the mountains and the surrounding forests.
The female Ruen had seen the Immortal Lich first. He was standing at the peak of the mountain while staring up at the sky longingly. He was wearing a long black coat that prevented them from seeing what he looked like, but the moment he brought his head down to look at them, they felt terror pass through their bodies when they saw his bone-white skeleton face! The Immortal Lich raised his hands and unleashed his mana towards the two Ruens, and the Ruens immediately turned to run away. But before they could even take ten steps, they were already dead.
The years following the Immortal Lich's appearance were the worst in Ruen's history. Ruen was a world that had only learned about magic a few decades ago, so they were still learning how to use Magic Crystals and Artifacts properly, but even with the power that they had gained, they were no match for the Immortal Lich. The Immortal Lich cast death and destruction upon them all. He blackened the sky and destroyed the land with his mana. The trees shriveled to death, and the lakes dried up across the world, leaving the people with nothing but sand and dust! The last of the Ruens went into hiding in the dark corners of the world, and they remained underground for hundreds of years while trying to hide from the Immortal Lich's sight.
But the smarter members of the race knew that they were not actually hiding from the Lich. They knew that the Lich was a monster unlike anything they had ever encountered before, and if the Lich actually wanted to find and kill them all, he would have done it already. No, what the Lich was doing was an experiment. The Immortal Lich was keeping them alive and allowing them to thrive underground for his own benefit, and every few years, when one or more of the more foolish Ruens would go out to search for adventure or freedom, the Lich would take them and use them for his experiments. They were nothing but livestock, and the Lich was their herder.
But the Immortal Lich hadn't always been the Lord of the Dead. Once, a long time ago, he had been nothing but a small-time researcher who worked in the Magical Institution of a 'Rank III' world known as T'laina, more than three hundred Dimensional Leaps away from Earth.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC237: The Immortal Lich
Chapter 237: The Immortal Lich
The Immortal Lich had once been nothing but a small-time researcher who worked in the Magical Institute of a 'Rank III' world known as T'laina, more than three hundred Dimensional Leaps away from Earth. His master was a woman called Forgo, and she was known as the 'Witch of Calamity'. She specialized in a brand of magic known as Necrosis, and she had dedicated her life to the advancement and perfection of this magic. Necrosis was a branch of magic that was misunderstood by nearly every member of the magical institute in T'laina.
As the name implied, Necrosis was a magical branch that focused mainly on the dead and the study of how they related to magic. One half of the magical institute saw the practice of Necrosis as barbaric and refused to involve themselves in it because they didn't want to make their magic dirty. Meanwhile, the other half of the T'laina magical institute saw Necrosis as an evil practice. They filed various petitions asking the Magical Board to remove the practice from the institute, but they were refused because the institute was dedicated to allowing magical practitioners to study any branch of magic that they wanted.
Forgo, on the other hand, believed with all her heart that Necrosis was the highest and most powerful form of magic in existence. Forgo dedicated centuries to the study of Necrosis and its uses in magic. Forgo had studied magical creatures and found out that after death, the magical crystals from a beast would have most of the magical power that the creature had when it was alive! And sometimes, it would even have more! This confused Forgo for a while since she thought that most creatures lose thier magic once they lose thier life, but after much research, she realized that it wasn't the Magical Beast that was giving off the excess magic, but rather the surge in magic was a result of the dead creature's connection with the [River of the Afterlife].
The [River of the Afterlife] was a well-known magical entity, and it was common knowledge that every deceased soul in the Primordial Expanse went there to rest for eternity. But in the brief moment between the life and death of a creature, a great amount of magic is unleashed by the [River of the Afterlife] in order to take their soul away, and it is the traces of that magic that remain inside the creature's Magical crystals and causes the increase in Mana.
Forgo wanted to learn how to harvest that magic. She believed that learning to harvest the magic in a creature just before it dies would allow her to tap into the [Rivers of the Afterlife] and gain incomparable power. Her work was so serious and it took up so much of her time that she eventually had to take on a young brilliant student known as Logof. Logof was the top of his class in all his magic lessons and had extensive knowledge of almost all forms of magic.
But it was Logof's passion for magic that made Forgo take him as an apprentice. When talking about magic, Logof had a look in his eyes that would put fear into the heart of regular men. It was an insanity that only those who shared the same passion would understand, and it made Logof one of the most relentless pursuers of knowledge. Forgo appreciated this passion and she taught Logof everything she knew. She showed him the brilliance of Necrosis and she allowed him to read all the personal journals she had written about how to gain power from the [Rivers of the Afterlife].
Logof immediately fell in love with the idea of Necrosis and took to Forgo's teachings like a fish to water. He followed after his teacher and learned everything that she could offer faster than she could ever imagine. He ignored his own health, his relations with other people, and even romance, and focused entirely on the advancement of this new form of magic. But after a while, Logof realized that his teacher would never be able to reach her goal. It wasn't because she lacked the intelligence or skill. Forgo was one of the most skilled mages in the world, and she had extensive knowledge that would put most other mages to shame. But what she lacked was ruthlessness.
In order to advance a form of magic like Necrosis, there were many sacrifices that had to be made. They were dealing with the dead, so they needed to acquire creatures and people at the moment just before they would pass on. Forgo had no issue studying magical beasts in this state, but she drew the line when it came to people. She cared too much about other people, and that prevented her from being able to reach the true limit of their research. And this lack of Ruthlessness was where Forgo's ambition hit its final roadblock.
But where Forgo's ambition ended was where Logof's ambition began. Logof realized the foolishness of his teacher, and he knew that he could no longer depend on her to advance the craft that he had come to love. And so, after making sure that there was nothing more he could learn from his teacher, Logof killed Forgo and used her body as the first test subject in his personal study of Necrosis. Logof advanced his studies by leaps and bounds using Forgo's body, and he discovered things about the [River of the Afterlife] that he would have never discovered otherwise! After killing the first person, it was as though Logof lost every moral limitation that had been holding him back! Logof knew that he couldn't stop killing since he needed to advance his magic, so sacrifices were necessary! Logof killed, and killed, and killed. And it didn't take long before the authorities noticed the sudden spike in murders.
It was obvious that the first people that everyone pointed fingers at were those studying Necrosis since it dealt with the dead, but once people noticed that Forgo could no longer be found anywhere, Logof was tagged as a murderer by the Magical Institute! But that only served to increase Logof's desire for power! These people didn't understand what he was trying to do! They thought he was a murderer!? How foolish! There was no great discovery in the world that didn't require some sacrifices! He was trying to change the world!
Logof refused to acknowledge any faults in what he was doing, and he refused to stop. And, after much experimentation and practice, Logof finally realized what he needed to do in order to perfect the art of Necrosis. Logof and Forgo had been doing it wrong all along. They were trying to tap into the [Rivers of the Afterlife], but they were never going to be able to do it because they were held back by their own mortality. Logof realized that in order to reach that great power, you needed to become more than just a living being. You needed to become one with death itself.
Logof carried out his riskiest experiment yet on the same night that the Magical Institution sent out a battalion of Mages to take him down. Logof stripped himself naked and drew two hundred different Magical Runes across his body. He made long cuts from his forehead down to his feet, and he slowly drowned himself in a bath containing the fresh blood of a hundred people. Logof recited a forbidden mantra while slowly absorbing the mana given off by the fresh blood. Once he was close to the end of the mantra, he stabbed himself in the heart and allowed his blood to mix with the others. The result was the stripping away of all mortal skin and blood from his body. His soul was dragged out by the [River of the Afterlife], but the [River of the Afterlife] couldn't take it away because of the ritual he performed! Instead, it remained in the space between the living world and the afterlife, and this allowed Logof to awaken as a new creature. An Immortal Lich.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC238: An Unwanted Guest
Chapter 238: An Unwanted Guest
The Immortal Lich's power was increased by leaps and bouunds after his ritual, and his newfound connection with the [River of the Afterlife] allowed him to gain a new way of controlling the bodies of dead creatures. It was now possible to share his mana with these creatures and reanimate them. And he used this ability to fight against the battalion of Mages that came for him. But in the end, even with all the power, he was still incapable of matching the power of so many high ranking mages from a Rank III world. He was nearly defeated and he had to flee that world and escape into a world three hundred Dimensional Leaps away in order to survive.
After finding himself in Ruen, Logof decided that he was not yet done with his research. He was powerful, but not powerful enough. He needed to make sure there were no creatures that could match him in this world or the next! He would never allow the humiliation of the past to come upon him again! And that was how he began to kill the inhabitants of that world for more research. He drowned the world in death and despair and forced the few remaining survivors underground, where they remained till this day.
At the peak of a dark mountain within the Ruen forest, a dim light could be seen breaking out from the darkness of a large cave. Inside the cave, a single creature moved around at a calm, curious pace as he read through various texts and papers littered around him. The creature was well over ten feet tall and it wore a long, thick set of coats that covered its entire body from view. Its head was covered with a hood and the sound of muttering could be heard echoing off the walls of the large silent cave. Anyone who saw it would think that he was just an enthusiastic mage who was engrossed in his work, but their assumption would be brutally destroyed once they caught sight of its face and arms. Ashen white bone was all that was left of its body. Its fingers that turned the pages of its book were nothing but long, bony appendages and its face was nothing but a skull. Its eyes shone with an eerie dark light as it took in everything on the magical journal with intelligent curiosity.
"So that's where I went wrong. The time difference between the Rune activation and the Soul leaving the body is too large. A few more experiments. All I need are a few more experiments before I can reach my ultimate goal. I'm so close."
The Immortal Lich turned his head towards the pile of bodies lying on the floor beside him. The bodies had been torn apart and their blood had been fully drained, but the Lich didn't show any form of revulsion to it. He was already so used to the sight of death that it was now a part of him. His gaze shifted to an experiment table on the other side and the Ruen man that was strapped to it and he watched as the man's eyes stared up at the ceiling of the cave with wide, unseeing eyes. The Lich had used a special rune on the man that would slowly kill him over a long period of time and that was why the man was unresponsive. Right now, the man was in a space between the world of the living and the dead. But he would succumb to the rune soon, and the Lich would have to take another subject for experimentation.
"But it isn't enough. I've advanced Necrosis as far as it can go with the mortal body. There is nothing else I can discover while using living test subjects. I need more! I need something that can grant me a direct connection with the [River of the Afterlife]! I need... a soul."
The Lich felt an indescribable desire rising from his heart as he stared at the body in front of him! He had discovered sometime during his research that the mortal body could only tell him so much! As it was now, he was doing nothing more than reanimation! And that would never open the true secrets of the world to him! He needed more than that! He needed to find a way to separate the immortal Soul from the mortal body! If he could do that, then he would find the power he had been looking for all along! The realm of the Primordials would finally be within his reach!
The end goal of every magician from T'laina was to reach the realm of the Primordials, and the Lich was no different. From a very young age, the magicians of T'laina had looked up to the Primordials as the apex of power. To them, the Primordials were no different from gods and every magician aimed to reach that realm of power with their research. But the Lich knew that he wouldn't be able to get the power he was looking for the way he was going now. His research had slowed down considerably and he knew he hadn't made any major progress in a long time.
But there had been a development recently that gave him new hope. A group of powerful individuals reached out to the Lich from across the Primordial Expanse and asked him to join their ranks. The Lich had been skeptical at first since he didn't enjoy working with others, but now that he was hitting a roadblock with his research, he realized that this might be the only way to gain more power! The Lich decided that he was going to accept their offer, so he would be moving away from this world with all of his research. He just had to finish his experiments with the current test subject first. He already moved many of his research materials out of this world, and only the most important ones were still with him since he needed them for the experiment.
But the Lich suddenly stopped in his tracks as he felt something poking against his consciousness. The Lich had set up magical signals all around the world of Ruen so he would know whenever anyone arrived on this world from another world. He did this to make sure that the Magical Institute from T'laina never found him here, and so far he hadn't noticed anything powerful crossing into this world. The last things that entered here were a lost group from a parallel world, and the Lich's minions were able to dispatch them quickly enough. They had been good ingredients for his experiments, but they didn't give him any more insight into the soul than what he already possessed.
But now, there was something else that triggered his magical senses. Far away from his location, a single person had appeared from an artificial Dimensional Tear. That meant that this person hadn't entered this world by accident, they had come here with their own power. The fact that the person was knowledgeable enough about the Primordial Expanse to be able to create a Dimensional Tear at all meant that they were dangerous, but from the power he could feel, he knew that they shouldn't be anywhere above SS rank. They were likely from a Rank III or Rank II world and they were passing through this world to get somewhere else.
"It's too bad that this is where your journey ends. Kill him."
The Lich sent this message to his subordinates and then turned his attention back towards his work. He trusted his subordinates, and he was sure that no single person could hope to match their might. It wouldn't be long before he got another test subject.

STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC239: First Wave
Chapter 239: First Wave
[With Jason]
Jason stepped out from the blue Dimensional Tear and appeared in a dark and dreary world. A notification echoed from his system and Jason glanced to the side to read through it.
[The user has arrived in the world of Ruen.]
——

——
Jason raised a brow when he read through the rewards for the new mission. The Free Kill Points and Legion based skill were not surprising, but the other two were completely new to him. The first time Jason had heard about Runes was when Katarina tried to use a Rune to save her life, so Jason couldn't say that he wasn't curious about them. It was another way to gain more power, so Jason wouldn't overlook it. But it was the other thing that really made him curious. Why was there no rank for the weapon?
Jason asked the system what it meant by the question marks and he was only told that he would understand after the mission was completed. Jason hummed at that before he finally turned back to the scene around him. The world of Ruen was as dreadful and depressing as Jason expected it to be. There was barely any light coming from the sun above due to the intense smoke and dust that filled the air, the ground was flaky and hard, and the trees were bone white with black leaves.
The system already told him that the Lich knew he was there, so that meant there would be a swarm of enemies coming his way very soon. If Jason didn't want to get overwhelmed, then he needed to do two things. The first was to find a good vantage spot so that he would be able to see the incoming enemies before they caught him by surprise, and the second was to find the location of the Lich himself. Jason's plans were still the same as before. He was going to figure out the strength of the Lich's subordinates and then figure out whether or not he could resurrect them using his abilities.
Then Jason would figure out a plan of attack while sending out some of the subordinates to find where the Lich was hiding.
'I just hope I can resurrect them. It would be bad if I can't even reduce their numbers after killing them.'
[Mana Sense] has been activated.
Jason suddenly activated this skill and his mana pulsed out from his body in a sonic wave that spread across the region! Jason closed his eyes as he tried to feel for any movement around him, and for a few seconds there wasn't anything at all, but all of a sudden, Jason turned to the side sharply as multiple mana signatures registered on his senses! Jason activated his [Predator's Gaze] to get a good look!
'Monsters? Why the hell do they look like that? They're moving like zombies.'
Jason felt his eyes narrow as he saw the monsters that were coming for him. There were five of them in total, and they all looked like giant horses with black, thick skin. They were running towards Jason at breakneck speed, but their movement was unstable and wonky! It was almost like they were drunk on too much alcohol! Jason quickly called on one of the Rook Rank [Iron Bladed Falcon] and he told it to fly off and look around the surrounding for any place they could use as a vantage point.
The Falcon flew into the air and Jason narrowed his eyes as he saw a group of buildings in the distance through the [Eye of the King]. It was a large city that looked like it had gone through doomsday. There were tall buildings that had been broken down and emptied out, the streets were cracked and destroyed and a cloud of black smoke and dust had taken over the city. But it was a good place to take a stand!
ROARRR!
The screams from the undead horse echoed through the region as they reached Jason's location and Jason watched as they headed towards him with their drunken intensity! Jason put his hand out towards the beasts and he activated [Iron Storm]! Fifty long swords appeared around him and Jason pushed his mana to shoot them forward like arrows! The swords carved a bright straight line through the air as they flew straight towards the five horses! The horses were still moving toward him, so their speed only added to the momentum from the swords and Jason watched calmly as the fifty swords struck true!
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
The sound of metal striking metal and stone echoed through the air and a large dust cloud spread across the region, but the sound of the monsters echoed once again, and Jason hummed as he saw the beasts run out from the dust cloud with the swords still lodged in their skin! They didn't even register the attack as something worth stopping for!
But the fact that the swords were able to pierce through their skin told Jason that the horses were not as strong as they appeared. The swords were all A Rank weapons, and they would have easily killed a fellow A Rank superhuman. The fact that they managed to break through the creatures' skin meant that the horses were either low-level S Rank or high-level A Rank. They would be around the same power level as Jason's Rook Rank I's!
Jason immediately activated [Black Fog] and he watched a thick fog spread across the land and block the senses of all the attacking monsters. Jason then told Raya and three other Adamantine Ants to attack the horses, and his subordinates charged forward! The black fog had taken away the senses of the undead monsters, but they didn't even look like they registered the loss of their senses as they just kept running towards Jason and his Legion like they had gone absolutely mad!
Jason watched as the horses let out loud cries and ran straight for Raya and the other Adamantine Ants, but the Adamantine Ants didn't show any fear as they slammed into the horses and started a terrifying battle! The two groups of creatures were both undead, and that meant neither one of them possessed any fear of death or injury! This allowed them to fight with a ferocity and madness that you would normally never see in a living creature!
Raya grabbed one of the horses around the neck and swung it to the side to slam into another horse! The horse released a loud cry as they crashed on the ground, but they were charged back to their feet immediately, and one of the horses turned around and used its rear hoof to kick a Rook Rank I Adamantine Ant in the head! The Rook Rank I immediately lost its balance as it was sent flying back, and Raya appeared from the side and quickly used her mandibles to catch the horse's leg when it tried to attack her! Raya snapped her mandibles shut, and the horse let out a cry as its leg was cut clean off! The horse fell to the ground, but it was immediately replaced by another horse that headbutted Raya like a raging bull!
