STRONGEST NECROMANCER SYSTEMC262: Gaining More Subordinates

Chapter 262: Gaining More Subordinates

Jason's concerns about Gina's mental state were real, but Jason should have known better. There was no way a subordinate could make Jason feel this way. The ability to both piss him off and make him fall impossibly in love at the same time was something that only one person had. This was authentically Gina.

Jason's lips spread into an apologetic smile as he used his fingers to slowly clean the tears on Gina's cheeks.

"I'm sorry, babe. I wasn't thinking straight. I'm sorry."

Gina pouted while sniffling as Jason continued to remove the tears falling down her chubby cheeks. Jason wrapped a hand around her head and pressed her face into his chest, and Gina put her hands around him while mumbling,

"I love you, Jason. Please don't leave me."

Jason chuckled as he kissed the top of Gina's head. Leave her? Where the fuck would he go if he left her? Jason just went against death itself for this woman. Did she think she was ever getting away from him again?

"I'm not going anywhere, babe. I'm never going anywhere."

Gina sniffled.

"You promise?"

"I promise. Haha... you're such a crybaby."

Jason mocked Gina in a playful tone, and Gina hit Jason on the chest and told him to shut up! She wasn't crying! It was just allergies! Jason just chuckled and nodded along. He held Gina until she finally stopped crying, and he gently kissed her once he was sure that she had gotten herself back. Gina smiled up at him once they separated, and she pressed her face into Jason's chest as Jason turned to the Lich's dead body again. Gina understood that Jason's fear was reasonable. No one would want to hear that they took away the free will of the person they loved and Gina would feel horrible if there was ever a time when Jason lost his free will and became someone who just agreed with her at all times or did everything she wanted! That person wouldn't be the same Jason that she fell in love with!

The fact that Jason was scared for her like this only made her love him more than ever before! Gina listened to Jason's heartbeat, and she felt her entire body slowly relaxing along with the steady rhythm! Gina felt closer to Jason than ever before now, and there was a part of Gina that knew she was now capable of growing stronger than she ever thought she would. Jason's abilities, as well as the new improvements to her Gift, assured her that the limits of her potential were practically nonexistent, and she finally had a way to become powerful enough to stand beside Jason!

Gina swore at that moment that she would work even harder to make sure she became as strong as possible. Jason had fought through hell itself to bring Gina back to life, and Gina swore that she would be ready if Jason ever needed her to do the same thing for him! Gina's eyes narrowed as her hands tightened around Jason's waist possessively. Gina would eradicate anyone who would try to hurt the man she loved. She would burn the world to ashes if it meant she could protect Jason.

Jason was completely oblivious to the intense thoughts running through Gina's head, and he was completely focused on the Lich's dead body. Jason hadn't been able to resurrect any of the Lich's subordinates, but for some reason, he had a feeling that the Lich would be different. The Lich's subordinates had only been dead husks without souls, and they were only moving because of the Lich's mana, but the Lich was an actual living thing, so there was no reason why Jason shouldn't be able to resurrect it.

Jason put his hand out towards the Lich, and he spoke authoritatively.

"Resurrect."

Doon!

Gina's eyes widened at the sheer volume of mana that spread out from Jason's body! Gina knew that she had far more mana than most A Ranks back on Earth, and she already thought that what she had was insane, but what she could feel rolling off Jason at that moment was more than just insane—it was pure madness! How in the world was all this mana coming off just one person!?

The body of the Lich jolted, and Gina watched in shock as a phantom replica of the Lich rose out from its main body! This was the Lich's soul, and it had the exact same skeletal look and also wore the same robes as the dead Lich, but it was a lot larger than the original! The new subordinate was at least ten feet tall, and it towered over Jason and Gina like a giant! Gina swallowed in slight fear as she looked up at its imposing figure and she stepped close to Jason when she saw the empty black eye sockets staring down at her.

——

The user has gained [1] Rook Rank III Subordinate

+12,000 MP

+2.2% Strength

+3% Stamina

+1.3% Agility

+1.9% Durability

——

The user has gained the S Rank Skill [Necrotic Reanimation]

[Necrotic Reanimation]: This skill allows the user to use a percentage of his mana to reanimate the body of any dead creature and make it into one of his followers. The reanimated body will not be capable of independent thought, and it will only be able to carry out simple tasks given to it by the user.

This skill is not evolvable.

——

Jason was shocked when he saw the new skill that he had! Jason immediately knew that this skill was the same one that the Lich had used to control all the subordinates that Jason fought earlier. Doesn't that mean that the Lich would also have this skill? Jason's eyes widened in shock as he came to a sudden realization! The Lich was Jason's subordinate, but Jason could only control its soul. But now that Jason had the ability to use [Necrotic Reanimation], doesn't that mean that Jason could gain both the monster's soul as well as its body!? Holy shit, that would make his legion twice as strong as they used to be!

Jason knew that he wouldn't be able to increase the rank or strength of the reanimated monsters, but that doesn't mean they won't be useful! Jason still had Ragnar's body in his Alternate Dimension, and Jason decided that he would immediately test out his theory the first chance he got!

Jason turned back to the Lich as it took a step closer to him, and the pressure it was releasing seemed to grow even more imposing! Gina tightened her hold on Jason when she saw the Lich eyeing her curiously, and she wondered what the hell was going through its mind!

Gina was about to ask Jason to tell the monster to stop staring at them like that, but she jolted when the Lich suddenly fell to one knee and bowed its head to them in reverence. Gina blinked in surprise at the Lich's action, and she turned to Jason to see that he was just smiling knowingly! Jason chuckled as he squeezed Gina's hand, and Gina frowned up at his betrayal! Jason knew that the Lich wasn't actually going to attack them, but he didn't say anything because he wanted to mess with her!

Jason mentally commanded the Lich to rise, and he glanced up at the notification bar floating above its head.

The Lich was the same Rank as Ragnar and Raya, but Jason was shocked when he saw that it had forty thousand mana points! That was just under half of what Jason had, and Jason knew that this mana was far higher than any of his other subordinates! Jason gained a wicked smile on his face once he realised how useful this skill was going to be! Jason had already figured out that he would have the ability to resurrect the bodies of dead monsters with the Lich's skill, but there was a problem with that plan. Even though Jason had a lot of mana, most of it was used up in trying to control and support his original Legion. If Jason started using his mana to also resurrect the bodies of dead monsters, then it would only run out faster.

'But why the hell do I have to be the one to control the dead monsters?'

Jason looked up at the Lich with his smile still in place, and he immediately sent a message to the system.

'If the Lich reanimates an undead creature, can I still resurrect monsters that are killed by the Lich's undead subordinates?'

Since the Lich was a Rank III, it could take on fifty subordinates from Jason's Legion, but the Lich also had the ability to create his own subordinates using his Necrosis magic. It would be a bit disappointing if Jason found out that he couldn't resurrect the monsters or people that were killed by the Lich's subordinate, but once the system replied, Jason's grin widened!

[The Lich is the user's subordinate; therefore, every action carried out by the Lich is by extension also carried out by the user. If the Lich uses its mana to create subordinates and its subordinates kill other beings, then the user will still be capable of resurrecting them.]

Gina felt her brow rise in confusion when she saw Jason put his hand over his face and laugh happily! It was strange to see Jason suddenly laughing like that, but in a way, Gina guessed that it had something to do with Jason's system. Gina wrapped her hand around Jason's waist and buried her face in his neck while asking him what was going on, and Jason put his hand around her shoulder and answered as he slowly came down from his hysterics.

"I just figured out that this bastard is a lot more useful than I thought, so I'm going to work him to the bone... Hmm, that's true—"

'—Can you hear me like this?'

Gina was already shaking her head at Jason's horrible pun, but her eyes suddenly widened as she heard Jason's voice in her head. She looked at Jason and nodded 'yes', and Jason smiled.

'I have this link with all the members of my Legion. You can send me messages from anywhere in the world, so let's use this to talk when it's convenient.'

Gina couldn't help but laugh in sheer disbelief.

'Your Gift is so freaking versatile. Does this take up any mana?'

Gina had a child-like awe in her voice as she asked this, and when Jason shook his head, Gina just let out a sigh since she couldn't even be surprised anymore! She knew that she should have gotten used to Jason's versatile Gift by now, but she couldn't help but think that his Gift was just too broken! There were millions of people who would kill to have even one of Jason's abilities, not to mention all of them! Gina was just thankful that an ability like this ended up with Jason and no one else. Just thinking about the things an evil person would do with a Gift like this sent shivers down her spine.

Jason turned back towards the Lich as the system sent him a new message.

[Would the User like to choose a name for the new Rook? Yes/No?]

Jason hummed and put his hand on his chin as he tried to think of a good name. From the memories that Jason got from the Lich, Jason knew that the Lich's actual name was Logof, but that didn't seem like a name Jason wanted to give his subordinate. The Lich was a Necromancer with power over the dead, so Jason wanted a fitting name for it.

'Azrael.'

This name suddenly passed through Jason's mind, and Jason nodded to himself calmly. Azrael was a name that signified the Angel of Death, and it just made perfect sense for the Lich to have a name like that.

[Would the user like to choose the name [Azrael] for the subordinate?]

Jason chose yes, and he watched as the Lich's tab changed.

Once Jason was done with that, he told some of the Phantoms to go and grab all the Journals, documents, and any artefacts that were in Azrael's cave, since Jason would need them for studying Runes later in the future. Jason then used some of his magic to resurrect Ragnar.

——

ROARRR!

Ragnar reformed in the air above Jason, and Jason looked up with a smile as the large dragon dived down to the ground and almost crashed into him! Ragnar charged forward quickly, and Jason easily caught the giant dragon and rubbed its head while laughing as Ragnar blew hot steam into his face in excitement! Ragnar was the one who had taken out the Lich during its final attack, and Ragnar wagged its tail excitedly while asking Jason if he saw the magnificent firebreath!

"Yeah, you were great! That was the brightest one you've produced yet!"

Ragnar beamed with pride once it heard this, and it flapped its wings and raised a massive gale wind in the region from its happiness! Jason just chuckled again at Ragnar's excitement, and he watched as Ragnar turned its sight over to Gina. Gina was watching them with wide eyes, and Jason knew that she was just surprised by the fact that there was a dragon in front of her. Even though magic was a common thing on Earth now, it was still shocking for most people whenever they saw Ragnar, since Ragnar was the truest definition of a Magical Beast. But Ragnar didn't even waste a second as it immediately pounced on Gina and began to nozzle into her with its nose! Gina let out a cry as she struggled to hold onto the giant dragon, and she laughed when Ragnar blew hot steam into her face!

Ragnar recognized Gina from all the time that she spent inside Jason's Alternate Dimension, so it was comfortable around her! Because Ragnar and every other member of the Legion knew that this was the King's mate, they had no trouble accepting her as a part of them!

"You're like a giant puppy!"

Gina couldn't stop herself from laughing as she tried to wrestle with Ragnar! In her excitement, Gina didn't even realise that she was using far more power than she had ever had in her life! Since Gina was now a Rook, she was able to withstand Ragnar's immense power while they played, but if Gina had tried something like this when she was still only a C Rank, then she would have been easily crushed by Ragnar's strength!
