After Videl ate the Senzu Bean, her injuries healed right away.
Kale set her back on her feet.
"This is amazing!" Videl said, shocked and delighted.
"Uh… we had a bit of an unexpected situation," the referee announced. "Kale stepped in and kicked Spopovich away, and he still hasn't come back down. Normally, this match would count as Videl's loss, but since we've waited this long and Spopovich still hasn't returned, the tournament committee has decided to let Videl advance so the tournament can continue smoothly. Does anyone in the audience object?"
The crowd broke into loud chatter.
"Also, Videl was badly injured, but she did not appear to be in life-threatening danger," the referee added. "So everyone supporting Videl can rest easy. Now, shall we allow Videl to continue in the tournament?"
"Let her fight! Let her fight! Let her fight!"
The audience was fully on Videl's side, shouting with excitement.
"All right, then it's settled." The referee quietly let out a breath of relief.
Good thing Videl has so many supporters.
"Now, let's move on to the fourth match," the referee announced. "Kibito versus Great Saiyaman!"
"My turn!" Gohan said, patting his chest.
"Good luck, Gohan!" Videl cheered.
Gohan nodded to her.
"Gohan-nii, beat him," Kale said.
"Yeah." Gohan nodded again, then looked toward Kibito with a calm expression.
Kibito couldn't even beat Piccolo.
I should be able to win without much trouble.
Though I might need to go Super Saiyan.
I'll see how it goes first.
The two of them walked toward the ring.
"Everyone, the fourth match is about to begin!" the referee announced.
"Was that Kale just now?" Sharpner said in surprise. "Why did her hair turn green?"
"Maybe Gohan went off and found another girl, so she got mad and dyed her hair green," Erasa guessed.
Sharpner went silent.
The boy with glasses went silent too.
What kind of logic is that?
"She was glowing green too," Sharpner added.
"That's not the point," Erasa said thoughtfully. "Didn't you hear? Great Saiyaman is entering the match."
"We just saw Kale," Sharpner said, thinking it over. "And now Great Saiyaman shows up too."
"The hero of Satan City," Erasa said.
"Now that you mention it, something feels off." The boy with glasses took out a pair of binoculars and studied the ring for a while.
"What feels off?" Erasa asked.
"Look carefully. His build and face shape look a lot like Gohan's," the boy with glasses said. "He wrapped up his hair and put on sunglasses, but that doesn't change his body or face."
"What? Let me see!" Sharpner said quickly.
"I'm sure of it. That's Gohan," the boy with glasses said. "And if Kale is here, it makes sense that Gohan would be here too."
He handed the binoculars to Sharpner.
Sharpner looked through them and froze. "It really is Gohan! No way. He's Great Saiyaman?"
"I don't think so. He probably just borrowed Great Saiyaman's name for the tournament," Erasa guessed.
"Why would he use someone else's name?" Sharpner still felt something was wrong.
"Because he's shy," Erasa said with a smile.
"But can he even fight?" Sharpner asked.
"Either way, let's cheer for him," the boy with glasses said. "Even if he probably won't win."
"Yeah, you're right," Sharpner said.
"Go, Gohan!"
The three of them shouted together.
Gohan had just stepped into the ring when he heard their voices from the distance.
He froze and looked toward them in horror.
"Good luck, Gohan! Even if you don't win the whole thing, at least win this match!" Erasa and the others shouted again.
Gohan had no words.
I'm wearing a headscarf and sunglasses, and they still recognized me?
I can't believe my cover got blown this fast.
What a mistake.
Gohan had no choice. He took off the headscarf and sunglasses, then waved at the three of them with an awkward smile.
"All right, begin!" the referee shouted.
Gohan got ready.
Whatever. No point worrying about my identity now.
Kale's identity was already exposed anyway. Since we're always together, hiding mine was probably impossible from the start.
He looked across the ring at Kibito.
Kibito glared at Gohan, his teeth clenched with anger.
"Don't tell me you're a future Supreme Kai too," Kibito suddenly said.
"Uh… no, I'm not." Gohan shook his head.
"Good. I was starting to think you were another future Supreme Kai," Kibito said, clearly relieved.
Two future Supreme Kais already came out of nowhere.
Who gave them the right?
Do they think they can just appoint gods whenever they feel like it?
"I'm not a future Supreme Kai," Gohan said seriously. "But I am going to be a God of Destruction."
"A God of Destruction? The god said to be equal in status to a Supreme Kai?" Kibito snorted.
"So you do know about them," Gohan said with a nod.
"Hmph. Baseless nonsense," Kibito said, deeply suspicious.
"Ken told me that where there is creation in a universe, there must also be destruction," Gohan explained. "That's why a God of Destruction and a Supreme Kai are supposed to work together. That balance lets the universe develop properly. It's also why I've been studying so hard all these years. I want to become a scholar, but more than that, I want to understand the universe and help build it in the right way."
Kibito heard a lot of words and understood none of them.
What is this nonsense?
Complete garbage.
"Fine. Hurry up and turn Super Saiyan," Kibito said coldly.
"Huh? Do I have to turn Super Saiyan to fight you?" Gohan asked. "I think I might be able to beat you without transforming."
His aura burst out.
Whoosh!
Gohan rushed straight at Kibito without holding back.
He threw a powerful punch.
Kibito's expression changed. He quickly raised his arm to block.
Bang!
Gohan's fist smashed into Kibito's arm.
Crack!
The sound of bone breaking rang out.
Kibito's arm bent at a wrong angle.
"Aaagh!"
Kibito screamed, his red face turning white from the pain.
His body slid backward, his feet scraping across the ring and carving two long marks into the floor.
Thud!
Kibito slid right out of the ring and dropped face-first onto the ground.
Gohan stared.
Then he looked down at his fist.
I don't think I hit him that hard.
How did he fly out so easily?
"Out of the ring!" the referee announced at once. "That match ended before it could even get started! Great Saiyaman knocked his opponent out of the ring with a single punch! Great Saiyaman wins!"
"Hey… are you okay?" Gohan crouched at the edge of the ring and looked down at Kibito with concern. Scratching his head, he added, "Oh, right. Piccolo beat you up earlier, didn't he? Did that drain a lot of your energy?"
"Shut up," Kibito said through gritted teeth.
"Sorry. I guess I hit a little too hard," Gohan said, genuinely embarrassed.
"Bastard…" Kibito felt like the words had stabbed him.
"Huh? Gohan won?" Erasa stared in shock.
"Did his opponent slip and fall out by accident?" Sharpner guessed.
"That actually sounds possible," the boy with glasses said with a nod.
"Gohan is really lucky," Erasa said with a giggle.
Back in the waiting room, the Supreme Kai's face looked terrible.
This wasn't how my plan was supposed to go.
Why does everyone keep doing the exact opposite of what I need?
How am I supposed to find where Babidi hid Majin Buu's seal like this?
"Supreme Kai, is something wrong?" Goku asked, turning toward him.
"You should just be honest already," Vegeta said coldly. "Why are you really here? I doubt you came all this way just to enter the World Martial Arts Tournament."
The Supreme Kai fell silent.
"If you don't want to talk, then leave. I'm not interested in your problems," Vegeta said bluntly.
The Supreme Kai had no words.
These mortals are so rude.
I'm a Supreme Kai.
Would it kill them to show some respect?
"Fine. I'll tell you." The Supreme Kai took a deep breath, his expression growing serious. "I came here because of someone called Majin Buu."
"Majin Buu?" Goku scratched his head.
"I feel like I've heard that name before," Vegeta said, thinking carefully, but nothing came to mind.
Kale paused slightly too. The name sounded familiar, though she could not remember where she had heard it.
"Tell us properly. What kind of guy is he?" Piccolo asked.
"To explain about Majin Buu, I have to start with a wizard," the Supreme Kai said, his face darkening. "You remember Yamu and Spopovich, the two fighters you defeated? They were being controlled by an evil wizard."
"Really? A wizard was controlling them?" Goku said with a nod.
"Wait. The wizard you're talking about isn't Zeno-sama, is it?" Kale suddenly asked.
"No, not him." The Supreme Kai shook his head and gave Kale a long look.
You still call that person Zeno-sama?
Should I even keep explaining?
"Go on. I'm interested in this Majin Buu," Goku urged.
The Supreme Kai went quiet for a moment.
"Long ago, when humans on Earth had only just begun walking on two legs, there was an evil wizard named Bibidi in a distant part of the universe," the Supreme Kai said in a low voice. "One day, Bibidi created a terrifying monster by chance. That monster was Majin Buu. He had no feelings and no reason. He only knew how to destroy and kill. In just a few years, hundreds of planets were turned into dead worlds."
"Hmph. Is that supposed to be shocking? We Saiyans used to do things like that too," Vegeta said, completely unfazed.
"No, Vegeta," the Supreme Kai continued. "At that time, there were five Supreme Kais. Each of them had incredible power. Any one of them could easily defeat a so-called emperor of the universe like Frieza."
"Wow. That's strong," Goku said, nodding thoughtfully.
"Majin Buu was so powerful that even Bibidi eventually found him hard to control, so he sealed Buu away while he was resting," the Supreme Kai explained. "Bibidi brought the sealed Buu to his next target: Earth. I used that chance to kill Bibidi before he could release the seal. But Buu's seal stayed intact. I couldn't destroy it, because if the seal was disturbed, it might open on its own and release Majin Buu."
"And then?" Goku asked.
"For years, I kept looking for a way to deal with Buu's seal," the Supreme Kai said. "Then, about thirty or forty years ago, I met Ken, Merus, and Broly."
Goku and Vegeta glanced at each other without saying anything.
Piccolo also looked at the Supreme Kai strangely.
Ken and Merus?
And Broly?
Why are you bringing them up?
"I thought that with their power, they could destroy Majin Buu for good," the Supreme Kai said, clenching his fists as his body shook. "But after they released Buu, they became friends with him instead!"
"Huh? So Majin Buu is Ken's friend?" Goku said, finally understanding.
"Later, Buu followed Merus. For a while, he behaved himself under Merus, so I stopped worrying as much," the Supreme Kai said. "But for some reason, Buu eventually left Merus's supervision and started causing destruction across the universe again."
"Is he a God of Destruction too?" Goku asked.
The Supreme Kai fell silent.
"Speaking of Gods of Destruction, I once met someone who claimed to be one," the Supreme Kai added. "He looked like a cat. Calling him a cat-man would honestly be fair."
"Mm-hm." Goku nodded repeatedly and immediately looked at Vegeta.
"The God of Destruction he's talking about is probably Beerus," Vegeta guessed.
