"Yes, you're right. His name was Beerus," the Supreme Kai admitted. Then his mood immediately soured. "But we're not talking about Gods of Destruction right now. I'm talking about Majin Buu!"
"Go on. We're listening," Goku said with a smile.
"A Supreme Kai's duty is to protect the peace of the universe. Of course we couldn't just let Majin Buu run wild, so we kept trying to defeat him or seal him away again," the Supreme Kai said through clenched teeth. "But seven years ago, a wizard named Zeno took control of Buu!"
"Isn't Zeno-sama the greatest god in all the universes?" Goku asked, scratching his head.
"Kakarot, stop talking," Vegeta said with a snort. "Ken said there was a dumb Supreme Kai, but maybe he meant you."
Goku went silent.
How is this about me?
He was obviously talking about the Supreme Kai from Universe 7.
The Supreme Kai did not know how to respond.
That felt like it was aimed at me.
These people are shameless.
I'm still the greatest god in the universe.
You may be stronger than me, but do you really have to talk about me like that?
The Supreme Kai felt wronged, and the more wronged he felt, the angrier he became.
"That's enough! Stop calling me dumb! I'm a Supreme Kai! I'm the greatest god in the universe!" the Supreme Kai shouted.
"Okay, okay, if you say so," Goku said, trying to calm him down. "Keep going. We're listening."
The Supreme Kai felt another stab to the heart.
That does not sound comforting.
That sounds like you're making fun of me.
"So what happened with Majin Buu?" Goku asked, his eyes bright with curiosity. "Is he really strong?"
"Of course he is!" the Supreme Kai said, clenching his fists as his face grew more serious.
"Where is he now? Can you take us to see him?" Goku suddenly looked interested.
"I'm looking for him," the Supreme Kai said.
"You haven't found him?" Goku tilted his head and studied the Supreme Kai, confused.
The Supreme Kai went silent.
What is that look supposed to mean?
Why do you think I should be able to find him that easily?
"A Supreme Kai has amazing eyesight, right? Can't you just see where he is?" Goku asked.
"No, I can't! If I could, none of this would be so difficult!" the Supreme Kai snapped. "And because you all acted on your own, my plan is completely ruined! This is your fault!"
"What was your plan? Tell us," Vegeta said with a faint smile, clearly enjoying the mess.
"Where was I?" the Supreme Kai asked.
"You were talking about Majin Buu," Goku said. "You said he was sealed away. What happened after that?"
"Right… Recently, we discovered something terrible," the Supreme Kai said in a low voice. "The wizard Bibidi had a son. His name is Babidi, and he's just as evil as his father. Babidi is trying to break Majin Buu's seal."
"That doesn't sound like a big deal," Vegeta said, giving the Supreme Kai a dismissive glance.
"What do you know? To wake Majin Buu inside the seal, Babidi needs a huge amount of pure energy," the Supreme Kai said. "Several of you have exactly the kind of energy he needs."
"Oh, so that's what this is about," Goku said with a nod.
"Our original plan was to let Yamu and Spopovich absorb energy from one of you, then follow them back to Babidi," the Supreme Kai said through gritted teeth.
As he spoke, Kibito and Gohan walked back in from outside the ring.
The Supreme Kai gave Kibito a nod, letting him know he had already explained everything to Goku and the others.
Kibito looked defeated and said nothing.
Gohan paused, then walked over to Piccolo.
Piccolo gave him a look that said he would explain later.
"So basically, we need to stop Majin Buu from waking up, right?" Goku said.
"Yes. That's exactly it." The Supreme Kai nodded seriously, then looked at Gohan. "But now we don't know where Babidi is, or how to find him."
"Hmph. Finding someone is easy," Vegeta said. "Yamu is still alive, isn't he? Bring him here and ask him."
"He probably won't talk," the Supreme Kai said, shaking his head.
"Someone will make him talk." Vegeta smiled. "Kakarot, bring that Yamu guy here. I'm going to get someone."
"Who?" Goku asked.
"Someone who knows how to make people tell the truth," Vegeta said with a smile.
Then Vegeta flew off.
Less than twenty seconds later, he returned with two people: Cabba and Caulifla.
The Supreme Kai blinked, not understanding why Vegeta had brought them.
At almost the same time, Goku brought Yamu over from the infirmary.
Yamu had been badly hurt earlier. He was still wrapped in bandages and had not fully recovered.
When he saw everyone waiting for him, he started to panic.
"What are you doing? What do you want? This is a lawful society! You can't just do whatever you want! And this is still the World Martial Arts Tournament!" Yamu shouted.
"This is the guy, right, Supreme Kai?" Goku asked with a smile.
"Yes, that's him," the Supreme Kai said with a nod.
"You're up." Vegeta patted Caulifla on the shoulder.
"Sure. I'm good at this kind of thing." Caulifla grinned, grabbed Yamu, and flew off with him.
"Hey, we agreed! If this is about Majin Buu, we're joining too!" Cabba said, suddenly excited.
"Do what you want," Vegeta said casually.
Thud, thud, thud!
Heavy hits came from the distance, followed by screams that sounded like a pig being slaughtered.
About a minute later, Caulifla came back with Yamu, whose face was bruised and swollen.
"You could've just asked! If you wanted me to take you to Babidi, I would've taken you! You didn't have to beat me up!" Yamu said, feeling horribly wronged.
Especially that girl beside me.
She had no manners at all.
She started beating me before she even asked anything.
Ask the question first.
"Heal him," Vegeta said to Kibito.
Kibito immediately looked at the Supreme Kai, hesitant.
"Go ahead, Kibito," the Supreme Kai said after thinking it over.
After all, if they wanted to defeat Majin Buu, they had no choice but to rely on Vegeta, Goku, and the others.
They themselves could not beat him.
Whatever happened, they needed to find Babidi first.
Kibito stepped forward, and healing light covered Yamu's body.
"Halfway is enough," Vegeta suddenly said.
Kibito stopped at once.
"Just keep him alive and able to lead us to Babidi," Vegeta said calmly. "Why would you heal him completely? Idiot."
Kibito trembled with anger.
I'm a god. Who do you think you're insulting?
"You can all leave now," Vegeta said, waving the others off. Then he patted Goku on the shoulder. "Kakarot, you stay and fight me. The rest of you can go if you want, or stay if you want."
Goku went silent.
"Majin Buu sounds pretty interesting," Goku said with a grin. "Vegeta, we can fight anytime. Wouldn't it be better to deal with Majin Buu first?"
"Kakarot, you bastard! Do you know how many years I've been waiting for this?" Vegeta exploded, spraying spit all over Goku's face.
"Well… I really do want to see Majin Buu," Goku said, scratching his head. Then he lowered his voice and added, "Vegeta, I heard Majin Buu is close to Ken, so he must be really strong, right? Don't you want to fight someone even stronger?"
Vegeta kept snorting in anger.
But Goku's words hit exactly where it hurt.
"Hmph. Fine. I'll listen to you this time," Vegeta said coldly. "But once this Majin Buu mess is over, you and I are fighting properly."
"Sure," Goku said easily.
"I'm saying this now. When it's over, you are not leaving this timeline again!" Vegeta said through clenched teeth.
"I know, I know," Goku said, brushing him off.
Vegeta went silent.
Why do I feel like Kakarot is going to leave again the moment this is over?
"So, who's not coming?" Goku asked, looking around. His eyes landed on Krillin first.
"Goku, I'm staying here," Krillin said with a bright grin. "I still want to try for the prize money."
"I'm not interested in Majin Buu," Android 21 said, shaking her head.
"I don't want to work with my enemy," Android 16 said.
Goku had no idea what to say to that.
"Gohan, Kale, I want to go too," Videl said. She had been listening the whole time, and once the Supreme Kai mentioned Zeno-sama, she wanted to see what was going on no matter what.
"Videl, you shouldn't come," Gohan said, shaking his head. "It might be dangerous."
"Even if you don't let me, I'll follow on my own," Videl said stubbornly.
"Fine. Then stay close to us," Kale said, gently tugging Gohan back before he could refuse.
"Hurry up and lead the way!" Caulifla kicked Yamu.
Yamu went silent.
You could just say that.
Why do you have to kick me?
He said nothing else and flew into the sky.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Goku and the others followed.
Aside from Krillin, Android 21, Android 16, and Zarek's group, who had no idea what was happening, everyone else flew into the sky and left the tournament grounds.
The referee and the tournament committee stood there in stunned silence.
Why did everyone fly away?
How are we supposed to keep holding the World Martial Arts Tournament now?
Krillin quickly explained what had happened to Master Roshi, Bulma, and the others.
Bulma contacted Ken through the communicator and told him about the situation.
"It's fine. Let them handle it. This can be good training for them," Ken said after hearing the news, showing no intention of stopping them.
"How much longer until you get back?" Bulma asked.
"Flying back will take two days," Ken said. "I'll try to make it back tomorrow."
"Okay," Bulma said, leaving it at that.
"Fly faster! At this speed, when are we going to get there?" Caulifla snapped, hitting Yamu on the head again.
"This is as fast as I can go," Yamu said quickly, rubbing his aching head.
"Cabba, carry him. Let him point the way," Caulifla said.
"Uh… all right. Leave it to me," Cabba said with a nod.
The group immediately sped up.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
In the blink of an eye, Videl was left far behind and soon disappeared from view.
Videl went silent.
Are they kidding?
How are they flying that fast?
She had no way to keep up and had to stop helplessly.
Gohan noticed something was wrong and stopped to look back at her.
Then he quickly turned to Kale.
"So that's why you let Videl come."
"Yep," Kale said with a nod.
They kept flying for a while longer.
"How much farther?" Caulifla asked.
"It's behind that mountain. Land over there," Yamu said quickly.
"Get ready to land!" Caulifla called to Goku and the others.
"It's here?" the Supreme Kai asked, then looked into the distance.
"We investigated this area before," Kibito said.
"The ground over there looks strange. Like it was dug up," Piccolo said.
"I see. Babidi hid the ship underground. No wonder we couldn't find it," Kibito said, clenching his fists.
"Maybe Babidi already knew we were on Earth. Otherwise, he wouldn't have hidden the ship," the Supreme Kai said.
"Let's attack. Blow up the ship and force him out," Piccolo suggested.
"I'll erase them," Vegeta said, a faint smile on his face.
Everyone hovered high in the sky, looking down at the ground below.
"That bastard… They killed those innocent people!" Gohan shouted, furious, after spotting a dead family of three nearby.
One of the women had been killed horribly, her body torn in two.
They had not even spared a five-year-old child.
"Babidi, you bastard! I won't forgive you!" Gohan shook with anger.
"We'll use the Dragon Balls to bring them back," Goku said quietly, unable to keep looking at the bodies.
"Yeah." Gohan nodded.
"First, destroy their ship and drag Babidi out," Piccolo said to Vegeta.
