Chapter 29 - A Bit of history 5: The end.

Darian ran towards Valeria as fast as his two feet could carry him, the fear he felt transformed into rage and a scathing desire to put an end to the battle as soon as possible propelling him onwards. Valeria did not stand still either, she ran towards Darian with a speed that was fueled by her desire to also carve her name amongst that of the torch bearers of her house who successfully ended the terror of a tyrant, restored order and balance or both.

From his third party view, he heard Valeria muttering something.

"He will never account for this orb to be filled with poison so corrosive that it would eat through him in seconds, his << authority >> ability being unable to stop as it is not a piecing, slashing or cutting weapon but a corrosive one."

In the heat of the moment, the two champions lunched their weapons at each other, one an axe-hammer hybrid thrown out of a rage induced by fear and the other an orb filled with a corrosive payload fired out of a slingshot out of eagerness. Darian did this partly out of rage and partly because he did not need a weapon to crush his foes. His body was a sufficient weapon to carry out the job.

Mike watched as both weapons flew past each other as they sought their targets. The axe found it's target first but was stopped when a plasma – like shield with runes flickering on it's surface appeared around Valeria who was directly on it's flight path, preventing it from getting to her. The orb found it's target, only to be swatted like a fly by Darian.

That was his mistake.

The orb burst open from the force of the impact from Darian's hand, unloading it's corrosive payload onto the his body while he remained oblivious-probably blinded by rage- as it ate through him rapidly. This continued until the substance ate through his torso. Even when he died, he remained unaware of how he did.

The two armies watched on, one pleasantly shocked and the other horrified at the turn out of the battle.

Valeria arrived at Darian's location at the center of the battlefield the moment he died, taking his axe and his head, which she had cut off with the axe side of his axe- hammer hybrid weapon when she got close enough, as her prize. The golden glow around Darian's army faded since his influence dissipated the moment he died, and the who battlefield erupted into chaos unlike any other as the army of the kingdom of Kapt pursued Darian's army which fled for the first time for the first time since their creation.

That was the last thing mike saw before he was finally thrown back into his body which was now perfectly reformed.
