Chapter 30 - Rewards and Banes: banes 1

Mike uneventfully woke up. The impact of the rollercoaster of memories he just witnessed and experienced was stupefying to the point where his mind could not process it, or anything for that matter, in his waking moments. However, he came around after a while, and when it did, his mind gradually began to process the memories, analyzing, processing and dissecting every bit of information he got from the flashes of memories he experienced, first slowly, then, faster and faster to the point that he totally lost himself in the act. For a person like mike who found himself in a strange place which he had no knowledge of, where the physical laws showed a marked difference from that of his home world and which was filled with dangers that could end his life in an instant, and he himself being a person who believes that intelligence is the greatest weapon and knowledge is the greatest asset, experiencing those memories was like finding a treasure trove , like being blessed with fortune, no matter how fragmented those memories were and no matter the pain felt before, during and after the process. In fact, it almost seemed like a compensation for the unpleasant experience he was made to endure.

'I could do without the pain though.'

Just then, a message from the disembodied and emotionless voice, which proved to be a prelude to other messages, rang in his ears.

<< You have successfully received the Hint and knowledge, this time of past event, attached to all four of your fragments.>>

'So those memories were delivering authentic information based on the past of all the fragments I have come to own \. If their authenticity is not in doubt then...…..' contrary to other times when he listened attentively to whatsoever the disembodied voice had to say, paying rapt attention until he was sure it was done, he spiraled deeper and deeper into thought when the disembodied voice announced the last sentence that confirmed the credibility of the information contained in the memory flashes.

'If the proliferating forest grew to cover an entire universe or universes where did the beings who grew worried about it live. Did it arise in a multiverse? This confirms with certainty that I am not in the home universe of my home world. But if this world I am in is a part of the multiracial multiverse that hosts the Proliferating forest then that is not good news."

What he had seen in the memory of the proliferating forest was worrisome. It showed the existence of powerful beings that could obliterate worlds in their entirety even with the prevalence of other powerful ability wielders on them. And even though he now owned the very thing that gave them a headache and made them seem powerless, who said that they were no other existence like the proliferating forest in the multiverse? And given the power of those beings, they could wipe him out before he could make a move. After all, the proliferating forest in it's heyday seemed more powerful than them but he was not even as powerful as some ability wielding rats found in the Genesis remnant mountain range. And though the Proliferating Forest still retained it's power, he was sure that he would not be able to safely wield all of them , that or, he would temporarily be denied access to them until his personal power grew to the point where he could handle them.

'And here I was thinking that, given time, we as Elts would be able to dominate this world and re-establish a civilized and ordered society. It turns out that there is a multiverse of powerhouses of unknown intentions and from diverse races waiting for us out there.'

The disembodied voice, as usual, did not wait for him to summarize his thoughts as it continued it's monologue without care.

<< You have been realigned to have the ability to house wield the <> The Proliferating Forest.>>

That snapped Mike's attention back to the announcements of the disembodied voice.

<< Your being has gained a new depth due to the realignment>>

<> Refer to the view from henceforth to view information on your status, achievements, announcements and a host of other things. >>]

'Huh! Is that it's retirement speech? It turns out that even a disembodied voice can become tired of the job of a full time announcer'

{<< Now, receive your banes.>>}

'Huh?'
