Chapter 8: The Destruction of Shrek Academy
Witnessing Xiao Wu's death with their own eyes, Dai Mubai and the others were utterly dumbfounded. They stood frozen in place, unable to accept such a cruel and devastating reality.
Hearing Tang San's heart-wrenching scream, Tang Hao felt a stabbing pain in his chest.
Already wounded, he had to defend against Yue Guan's attacks while protecting Tang San—he simply couldn't spare any attention for Xiao Wu, who had been targeted by Ghost Douluo.
Tang Hao had initially believed that Yue Guan and Ghost Douluo were acting under Bibi Dong's orders to capture Xiao Wu. He never expected Ghost Douluo to kill her outright.
Back then, he had lost Ah Yin.
After more than ten years, the same tragedy was now repeating itself before his son's eyes.
Looking at Tang San's expression of pain and despair, Tang Hao's heart filled with uncontrollable rage and guilt.
"Ghost Douluo! Yue Guan! You two must pay the price today!"
With a furious roar, a terrifying wave of soul power erupted from Tang Hao's body, surging like a tidal storm that swept across the entire sky.
But Ghost Douluo and Yue Guan remained unfazed.
"Tang Hao, you?!" Ghost Douluo sneered. "A crippled, broken dog like you dares bark here? The next to die will be your son!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, Ghost Douluo's third soul ring flared brilliantly.
He wanted to end this quickly and absorb Xiao Wu's soul ring before anyone could interfere.
Several Ghost Blades imbued with the aura of death shot out, like scythes wielded by the Reaper himself, cleaving toward Tang San.
Wherever those black blades passed, the air itself split apart, leaving visible cracks in space accompanied by an ear-piercing shriek.
Tang Hao's expression changed drastically.
Ghost Douluo clearly intended to kill Tang San! If he didn't act immediately, his son's life would be forfeit.
Without hesitation, Tang Hao abandoned defending against Yue Guan and rushed toward Tang San, swinging the Clear Sky Hammer to intercept the deadly blades.
The hammer and the ghostly scythes collided with a thunderous explosion, and the resulting shockwave distorted the air itself.
Yue Guan's eyes flashed coldly—how could he let such a perfect opportunity slip away? His ninth soul ring blazed to life.
"Chrysanthemum Ruins, Fill The Earth With Wounds, Flowers Fall on Broken Hearts!"
With his shout, countless golden petals burst forth from the enormous chrysanthemum behind him, transforming into spinning blades that merged into a massive bladed storm, surging toward Tang Hao with earth-shattering force!
Each petal gleamed with deadly sharpness; wherever they swept, the ground split open, trees were shredded, and the earth trembled.
Tang Hao, still fending off the ghostly scythes, sensed the horrifying power rapidly closing in from behind.
But at this moment, he couldn't split his attention—all he could do was pour every ounce of soul power into the Clear Sky Hammer, trying desperately to withstand attacks from both sides.
He swung the hammer wildly, forming a powerful barrier of condensed energy.
Yet his injuries severely limited his strength. Against the combined assault of Ghost Douluo and Yue Guan, even Tang Hao began to falter.
Meanwhile, on the ground below, faint red mist slowly rose from Xiao Wu's corpse, gradually coalescing in the air.
Ghost Douluo narrowed his eyes coldly.
He had to prevent Tang Hao and Tang San from retrieving Xiao Wu's body at all costs.
Soul power surged violently within him. Suddenly, an enormous shadow blanketed the battlefield.
Within that darkness burned the scorching essence of the Infernal Ghostfire, black flames dancing like the tongues of hell itself.
A wave of intense heat swept across the area, igniting everything in its path.
The black flames soared several meters high, enveloping Xiao Wu's corpse and the red soul ring forming above it, preventing anyone from approaching.
The infernal blaze continued to spread, devouring everything it touched.
In moments, the entirety of Shrek Academy was consumed in a sea of black fire.
Buildings collapsed one after another.
Thick, choking smoke billowed upward, blotting out the sky.
But Ghost Douluo didn't stop there.
His ninth soul ring once again shone with sinister light—
"Ninth Soul Skill — Infinite Ghost Shadow Devour!"
Above Tang Hao's head, a massive black vortex appeared out of nowhere.
That black hole was bottomless, eerie, and terrifying—its presence alone made the heavens tremble, as though it could swallow everything into eternal darkness.
Countless wailing spirits surged from within, their distorted forms clawing and screaming with endless resentment as they rushed toward Tang Hao.
The moment those spirits collided with the shadow of the Haotian Hammer, they detonated one after another.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The violent shockwaves shook Tang Hao's body violently; blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
After so many years, Tang Hao finally realized—Ghost Douluo and Yue Guan were no longer the same as before.
Their strength had grown immensely.
Especially Ghost Douluo… his power had reached unfathomable depths.
Surrounded by the roaring black flames and relentless assaults, Tang Hao knew continuing to fight would only lead to disaster. If this went on, Tang San would die here today.
A fierce glint flashed in his eyes.
"Ghost Douluo, Yue Guan… I swear, you will pay dearly for this!"
But now was not the time for revenge—he had to ensure Tang San's survival first.
"Damn you, Ghost and Chrysanthemum! Even injured, I, Tang Hao, am not someone you can defeat!"
His ten-thousand-year scarlet soul ring suddenly flared with blinding brilliance.
The crimson light illuminated the darkened sky, dyeing it completely blood-red.
A colossal hammer shadow descended from above, carrying apocalyptic might as it crashed down toward Ghost Douluo!
The air itself screamed as it was compressed by the strike; the ground quaked violently as though the heavens were collapsing.
Ghost Douluo flickered and vanished, narrowly evading the blow.
Seizing the moment, Tang Hao grabbed Tang San and prepared to retreat.
"Ghost! Chrysanthemum! I'll remember this debt—one day, I'll make you pay in full!"
His voice boomed like thunder across the heavens, filled with unending fury.
"Xiao Wu…"
Tang Hao's figure faded into the distance, carrying with him Tang San's broken cries of anguish and despair until both disappeared beyond the horizon.
In the chaos, Flender, Zhao Wuji, and the remaining teachers finally snapped out of their shock and fled the battlefield as well.
As they turned back, Shrek Academy had already been consumed entirely by black flames. The ghostfire devoured everything—buildings collapsed, ashes filled the air, and a dark inferno raged endlessly.
Tears shimmered in their eyes, a mixture of grief and rage.
They all knew—this wasn't the time to mourn. Survival was all that mattered now.
"Shrek Academy… that was my life's work…"
Flender's voice trembled. His heart bled as he watched the flames devour the academy he had built with his own hands. He was powerless to stop it.
"It's gone… everything's gone…"
Dai Mubai, Ning Rongrong, and the others stood pale and trembling. What they had just experienced felt like a nightmare they could never wake from.
Just last night, they were laughing together. Now, Xiao Wu is dead, Tang San is gone, and their home is reduced to ashes.
From this day forward, the Shrek Seven Devils no longer existed.
Yu Xiaogang steadied himself, his face grim.
"Everyone, pull yourselves together. Xiao Wu's death will not be in vain. One day, we will make Ghost Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo pay the price in blood."
Ning Rongrong spoke softly, her eyes red:
"Master, Dean… It's too dangerous here. We should find a safe place first. Come with me to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. Let's hear my father's counsel."
Yu Xiaogang nodded slowly.
With two Title Douluo—Sword Douluo Chen Xin and Bone Douluo Gu Rong—guarding the clan, even Spirit Hall would think twice before acting recklessly.
"You're right. We'll go to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan first. After what happened, Sect Master Ning must be informed."
Without looking back, the group quickened their pace, fleeing the ruins of Shrek Academy— their hearts heavy with grief, hatred, and bitter resolve for vengeance.
