Could it be… Jane Foster?
Or maybe Daisy?
Those were the first two names that flashed through Nick Fury's mind.
After all, up to now, these were the only two women who had ever crossed paths with Thor.
Of course, considering that Thor was still stuck in the hospital for a while, some of the nurses or doctors there were also technically possibilities.
Beyond that, Fury couldn't really imagine anyone else.
Still, this wasn't exactly a big deal to him.
In fact, even in the original timeline, whoever Thor happened to get romantically involved with didn't matter much.
What did matter was that Thor had the capacity to open his heart and let someone into it.
And that meant — Nick Fury could engineer this whole thing himself.
He could assign an agent to become Thor's girlfriend!
After all, filling the void in Thor's heart, soothing his wounded pride, and using that to get closer to him emotionally... wasn't exactly hard work for S.H.I.E.L.D.
That way, not only would it strengthen Thor's emotional ties to Earth, but it would also give Fury tighter control over him — a perfect two-for-one deal.
Outwardly expressionless, Fury was already plotting exactly that in his mind.
Now the question was — who should handle this delicate mission?
Given how deep Hydra's infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. already was…
Fury's one good eye drifted toward the woman beside him, who was also reading the diary — Black Widow.
This mission was tailor-made for her.
To be fair, Natasha Romanoff's looks were a lethal weapon in themselves — delicate features, flawless proportions, and a wealth of experience in exactly this kind of assignment.
She was the perfect candidate to "capture" the God of Thunder.
Decision made.
Fury smiled to himself, inwardly satisfied.
Loki's dead?
"???"
Thor's brow furrowed in complete confusion.
What was with all this? One moment Odin's dead, the next it's Loki — could everyone stop jinxing his family already?!
Besides, if Loki were the one who sent this diary, would he really write about his own death?
Thor knew his brother — Loki would never curse himself like that.
And Loki certainly wouldn't curse their father either.
As for that nonsense about getting a girlfriend on Earth… utterly ridiculous.
Mortals of Earth, worthy of Asgardian gods? Impossible!
The mighty Thor would never stoop to something so absurd.
The more he thought about it, the stranger this diary seemed.
The tone throughout — like someone describing the future as if they'd already lived it.
That wasn't Loki's style at all.
So… could all of this really be the work of that man called Zhou Cheng?
Who was that guy, really? And what was he trying to do?
Thor sank into deep thought.
[Of course, Thor eventually did bring Jane Foster back to Asgard, where Odin openly disapproved of her.]
[Odin even mocked her, saying "goat meat isn't fit for the feast table." He couldn't have been ruder.]
[But what Odin never imagined was that this mortal woman he despised so much… would one day become the Female Thor.]
[She even died in battle for Asgard — and her soul entered Valhalla!]
[Valhalla — the greatest honor of all, reserved only for Asgard's bravest fallen warriors.]
Jane Foster?!
So the woman mentioned in the diary as Thor's girlfriend really was Jane Foster?
Even Nick Fury hadn't seen that coming.
In his eyes, Jane and Thor's first meeting was purely accidental.
She sent him to the hospital, and that was likely the end of it.
After all, Jane was an astrophysicist — and Thor, as he was now, was just a raving vagrant claiming to be a god.
Their worlds couldn't have been more different.
If anything, Fury expected Jane to forget about him entirely after that.
Then again, New Mexico was a small town. Maybe, by sheer coincidence, they'd meet again and something would spark.
Fury could accept that.
But Thor taking Jane back to Asgard? That was unexpected.
Clearly, Thor really cared about her.
So that's the kind of woman Thor likes, huh?
Fury's mind turned quickly — perhaps he should have Natasha study Jane Foster's personality, habits, and background in astrophysics.
That way, Black Widow could step in and replace her if needed.
But before that idea could even take shape —
Jane Foster… becomes the Female Thor?!
"What? A Female Thor?"
Even Fury couldn't hide his surprise.
He'd already investigated Jane thoroughly after her name appeared in the diary — she was just a perfectly ordinary human being.
How could she possibly become a god?
And then, when he remembered that even Captain America could one day lift Mjolnir and wield lightning, Fury's mind began to race.
Could there really be a method for turning mortals into Asgardian gods?
If such a thing existed… Fury could barely contain his excitement.
If he could master that method, S.H.I.E.L.D. could literally create gods.
But was that really possible?
How did Jane Foster — and later Captain America — gain the power of Thor?
Fury desperately wanted the answer.
And though he didn't have enough information yet, one thing was certain — Jane Foster would now become one of the highest-priority surveillance targets on the planet.
"A mortal becoming Thor?"
"Utterly absurd!"
Thor couldn't help but laugh aloud.
Gods were gods, mortals were mortals — how could the lesser ever equal the divine?
And Thor, no less — the one and only God of Thunder.
What mortal could possibly compare?
Ridiculous.
Completely absurd.
And that part about Jane entering Valhalla?
Utterly impossible!
Valhalla wasn't the underworld — it wasn't open to just any dead soul.
This was nonsense of the highest order!
Was Zhou Cheng trying to make a joke out of him?
[There's actually something very interesting about this.]
[Jane Foster, even after gaining the power of Thor, was still human — she died as a human and her soul remained human.]
[And yet, she entered Valhalla.]
[But Loki?]
[Loki isn't Odin's real son — he's not even Asgardian. He's a Frost Giant, one of Asgard's ancient enemies.]
[So… would Loki's soul ever be allowed into Valhalla?]
"Wait… what?!"
Tony Stark nearly dropped the diary.
Loki — not Odin's real son?
Odin's heir, not born of Odin himself?!
Good lord!
Tony almost said it out loud — What a mess!
He'd seen plenty of scandals in high society, illegitimate children, love affairs, all that.
But gods, too?
Now that was something new.
Then again, he realized, divine scandals weren't exactly rare in mythology either — Zeus and Odin both had more "illegitimate offspring" than he could count.
Even Heimdall, if the legends were true, was one of Odin's bastards.
So yes — Tony Stark had seen worse.
Still, he couldn't help but smirk.
Odin had just been metaphorically handed the biggest green hat in the Nine Realms — and from his mortal enemy, no less.
The idea of Frigga and a Frost Giant… Tony almost pitied Odin.
Then again, maybe there was another explanation.
"Or maybe Loki's adopted," Tony reasoned aloud.
That would still count as 'not Odin's real son,' after all.
Either way, the drama was juicy.
"Loki's not my real brother?"
Thor immediately snapped, his voice tight.
"Utter nonsense!"
Sure, Loki could be sneaky, conniving, and infuriating — but he was still the brother Thor had grown up with.
They'd fought side by side, shared triumphs and scoldings from their parents.
How could he not be his real brother?
Impossible!
Thor refused even to consider the idea.
Zhou Cheng was obviously just trying to sow discord between them — and doing a poor job of it at that.
As for that Frost Giant nonsense? Even worse!
Loki didn't look anything like those blue-skinned monsters.
Ridiculous!
[Of course, right now Jane Foster probably still can't lift Mjolnir.]
[If I remember right, the reason she could later was because of a specific spell cast by Thor himself — not Odin's enchantment.]
[Thor's spell was unique — it made Jane the only person who could wield it under that condition.]
[Odin's enchantment, though… that one might still be open for testing.]
[I don't know what exactly counts as being "worthy," but as long as you can lift the hammer, you gain Thor's power.]
[Maybe I should head to New Mexico and give it a try. Even if I can't lift it, no harm done — but if I can, hey, why not experience being Thor for a day?]
So that was it — the secret to becoming a god.
Fury's eye gleamed.
He'd just been wondering moments ago if it was possible for humans to become divine — and now the diary had given him the answer.
To become Thor, all you had to do… was lift the hammer.
He didn't even need to know what Odin's enchantment was — the diary made it clear enough.
So that's how Captain America became Thor one day — by lifting Mjolnir.
If only Fury had known this earlier, he would've had Rogers try it at the crater site back then!
Still, it wasn't too late.
Once this diary reading was over, he'd make sure the Captain gave it a shot.
As for Thor's personal enchantment — it was Jane's exclusive spell, which meant no one else could use it anyway.
