Chapter 128 - Shock! Hydra Still Exists!

Although the cracks in their thinking were still small, they were enough to tear open a rift in Hydra's mental conditioning.

The twins had never been fully brainwashed to begin with. Otherwise, in the original timeline, they wouldn't have abandoned their revenge against Tony Stark so easily—nor joined the Avengers soon after.

There had always been a reason for that.

When it came to Hydra's mind control, these two were far more resistant than ordinary test subjects.

Through this mysterious diary, they had seen more of the world—wider, deeper, and far beyond Hydra's lies.Their hatred was slowly dissolving, bit by bit, so subtly that even they didn't notice it happening.

Every time they opened the diary, they would make sure no Hydra patrols were nearby.

In truth, no one in Hydra paid much attention to them. To the organization, they were little more than expendable test subjects—tools consumed in Hydra's pursuit of superpower research.

It wasn't until later, when Loki's scepter awakened the latent powers in their bodies, that Hydra finally took notice.

"Lin Feng…"

That name appeared again and again before Wanda's eyes, stirring new emotions in her heart she couldn't quite define.

"Pietro…" she murmured as she saw the name Quicksilver Pietro mentioned in the diary. She froze. That was her brother's name.

After confirming there were no Hydra agents nearby, Pietro walked over to join her. Together they read on.

When he saw that the so-called "Shame of the Speedsters" also bore his name, Pietro frowned."What the hell? He has the same name as me?"

But before he could complain further, new lines of text appeared in the diary.

[I'm talking to you, Quicksilver—the fastest man to ever die on screen. Look at the Quicksilver next door in the X-Men universe! His speed, his hero moments—how many people did he save before dying?]

[And you? How many did you save before taking the lunchbox of death? You're worse than the Flash's villains! At least they live longer.]

[Sure, the Flash always says, 'I am the fastest man alive… until someone faster shows up next season!' (insert troll face) But hey, at least he is faster than you.]

[This version of Quicksilver might be the weakest and least memorable one ever. If he weren't Wanda's brother—an essential piece of her tragedy—most people wouldn't even remember his name.]

[Speaking of which, Wanda and Quicksilver are probably still in Hydra's hands right now. Their potential hasn't awakened yet—the key artifact, the Mind Scepter, hasn't arrived on Earth.]

[Still, their powers come from within, not from the scepter itself. The Mind Stone only triggers what's already inside them.]

[Especially Wanda's Chaos Magic. Behind it may stand the Chaos Demon God itself—not white magic, not black magic, but the rarest Chaos Magic. Even Doctor Strange has never seen anything like it.]

[Better not interfere with that awakening. Wanda's evolution could affect the entire timeline. Her existence literally decides the life or death of reality itself. Her brother's death? Honestly, that barely matters.]

The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and Tony Stark exchanged looks.

Lin Feng really had no mercy. Even in his diary, he couldn't resist roasting Quicksilver. From the tone alone, it was obvious—Pietro's death must've been both ridiculous and meme-worthy.

"'The Flash'? Another one?" Tony rubbed his temples helplessly. "Well, that one's easy to figure out. The name gives it away—it's about speed."

Indeed, anyone called The Flash had to be another speedster.

And judging by Lin Feng's sarcasm, there weren't just one or two of them—there were probably many.

"'Someone faster every season'… why does that sound like an American TV show?" Agent Hill muttered.

Natasha chuckled. "Maybe by 'season,' Lin Feng means a different phase in their world. Remember how he divides our timeline into Phases One, Two, and so on? Could be the same thing in that other universe."

"'Next door,' huh?" Fury said thoughtfully. "That must mean another universe. The X-Men's Quicksilver is probably a counterpart of ours—an alternate version, like Spider-Man variants."

After nearly a year of being bombarded with Lin Feng's multiverse ramblings, none of them were surprised anymore.

Alternate dimensions, multiverses, variants—completely normal topics now.

So somewhere out there, in a universe called "X-Men," there existed another Quicksilver.

Weird name for a universe, sure—but then again, compared to the Marvel Multiverse, the DC Multiverse, or designations like Earth-199999, maybe it wasn't that strange after all.

There was clearly no logic to how these universes were named.

"So that means," Hill continued, "the same person's variant in a different universe could have totally different power levels?"

At that, everyone's spirits lifted. Suddenly, a spark of competitiveness flickered in their eyes.

Losing to anyone else was fine—but losing to yourself from another universe? Unthinkable.

How humiliating would that be—to know your other self out there was stronger, faster, smarter?

Especially after seeing how Lin Feng had mocked the two Quicksilvers… just thinking about it was unbearable.

What if their lives were being watched from higher dimensions—what if their stories were being turned into entertainment?

That thought alone made everyone's skin crawl.

Worse still, what if they turned out to be the worst versions of themselves? That would be beyond embarrassing.

"So this Quicksilver is Wanda's brother…" Coulson murmured. Lin Feng's diary had mentioned "Scarlet Witch" many times before, but now, at last, they had her real name—Wanda.

"Brother named Pietro, sister named Wanda… that gives us a solid lead." Fury's one good eye gleamed.A single Pietro was too common a name to trace, but pair it with a sister named Wanda, and the search became far easier.

"I just want to point out," Captain America said suddenly, unable to hold it in any longer, "are we all ignoring the real issue here? Hydra. Why the hell does Hydra still exist?"

The room fell silent.

Indeed—that was the real bombshell.

For Steve Rogers, Hydra wasn't just another organization. It was the enemy he had devoted his life to destroying.

It was the core of his greatest achievement—the campaign that made him a living legend and a national hero.

The entire modern myth of Captain America was built on the victory over Hydra.

Hydra's evil had been drilled into public consciousness for decades. The legitimacy of the Allied victory—and even the current world order—rested on it.

After the war, Hydra's fate had been clear:ordinary members disarmed, the worst executed, the rest imprisoned, and their scientists… well, divided up by the victors.

America got the lion's share.

On paper, Hydra had been completely eradicated.

That was what every history book said.

Rogers had accepted that truth, believing Hydra gone forever. His life after being thawed out often felt empty—nothing he faced since had ever matched the purpose of those wartime days.

But now—seeing Hydra's name appear again—his blood stirred. It was like glimpsing the banner of an old enemy raised from the grave.

The others immediately realized the same thing.

Hydra's survival meant something terrifying.

To outsiders like Tony Stark or Bruce Banner, the name Hydra was infamous but distant—a relic of World War II.

But to S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives, it was different. Their organization had been born from the war against Hydra.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s predecessor, the Strategic Scientific Reserve, was created to counter Hydra's technology. After the war, it evolved into S.H.I.E.L.D., backed by the world's five major powers—an independent, global agency.

They had even absorbed many of Hydra's own scientists to advance their research.

And Captain America's fame, his very identity, was built on defeating Hydra and killing its leader, Red Skull.

No wonder everyone's faces had darkened.

If Hydra still existed, then S.H.I.E.L.D. was facing its most dangerous enemy yet.

If the Nazis' enemy was the Allied forces, then Hydra's true nemesis was S.H.I.E.L.D. itself.

And if Hydra had rebuilt in the shadows… their first target would undoubtedly be them.

"Maybe some of them slipped through the cracks back then," Fury said grimly. "We might be dealing with survivors who've been rebuilding in secret all this time."

He paused, then added, "We'll find them."
