Chapter 127 - The Shame of Speedsters — Quicksilver!

Everyone stared at Lin Feng's diary, full of smug, self-satisfied entries, and felt a surge of mixed emotions — mostly the urge to flip the table.

But after realizing even if they did flip the table, they still couldn't beat Lin Feng, they silently put it back in place.

"Second stage… so you're saying before this, he was only in the first stage?" Hawkeye Barton said. "He wasn't even human back in the first stage. Now, in the second stage, he can fly, and his speed hits a hundred meters in under one second. That's already in the 'speedster' category. So what happens when he reaches the third stage? How terrifying would that be?"

Everyone nodded grimly. Lin Feng's current power was already frightening — the idea of him evolving even further was unimaginable.

Tony Stark broke the silence. "Jarvis, didn't Lin Feng's growth stagnate for a while before?"

"Yes, sir," Jarvis replied promptly. "Based on our 24-hour surveillance data, there was a noticeable period where Lin Feng's strength plateaued. But after his battle with the Destroyer armor in New Mexico — when he awakened his laser vision — his power began to rise sharply again."

The group immediately understood Tony's implication. That earlier period must have been Lin Feng's so-called "first stage." After awakening his laser eyes, his power jumped to an entirely new level — the "second stage."

Tony sighed. "So, Lin Feng's power is still far from its limit. Even in his first stage, none of us could handle him. Now, in the second, he's faster, stronger, and he can fly — which means his body's reached an entirely new threshold."

He rubbed his temples helplessly. Every time he made progress on the Anti-Homelander armor, Lin Feng's power level evolved again, forcing Tony to scrap and redesign everything. All the new intel kept making his plans obsolete.

Still, Lin Feng had pushed him to his limits — in a good way. To counter such an overwhelming force, Tony's research speed had skyrocketed. He barely had time to rest.

But even at that pace, his armor tech simply couldn't keep up with Lin Feng's rate of evolution.

Rationally, Tony knew that given all the threats Earth faced, Lin Feng growing stronger was a blessing — it increased their chances of survival against cosmic dangers. But emotionally, he couldn't fully trust him. Lin Feng wasn't a hero driven by justice — "doing good" was more like a game to him. Even so, his existence had drastically lowered New York's crime rate.

Of course, that was because he directly crippled the criminals' tools for committing crimes — brutally effective, if nothing else.

Yet Tony could never forget: Lin Feng was a soul from another universe. He didn't belong here. Which meant… he could lose control at any time.

The odds were small — but not zero. And that slim chance was enough to keep Tony up at night, making sure there was always a countermeasure ready.

Lin Feng wasn't his only concern — this world had no shortage of existential threats.

"But from what Lin Feng said," Natasha noted, "there seem to be quite a few of these 'speedsters.' I'm guessing all of them have superhuman speed."

Everyone nodded. That realization only made things more complicated.

And judging from Lin Feng's words — if Quicksilver, Pietro, who could be shot dead by bullets, was considered the shame of speedsters, then the rest of them were likely much faster. Fast enough that dodging bullets was just a basic skill. Some might even exceed the speed of sound.

After all, Lin Feng himself could already run a hundred meters in under a second — nearly at sonic speed. If he was just an average speedster, then top-tier ones might easily reach, or even surpass, supersonic velocity.

They could all imagine the terrifying destructive power such speed could unleash. There was no question about it — it was overwhelming.

No ordinary human could ever stand against that.

"It's probably not just about dodging bullets," Tony added. "Back when Lin Feng wasn't this fast, he could already predict bullet trajectories and dodge them. That wasn't true speed — that was experience and reflex. A skilled soldier can do it too, though not as perfectly as him. But back then, Lin Feng didn't call himself a speedster, nor mention any 'second stage.' So I think real speedsters don't need prediction. Their reaction time itself surpasses the bullet's velocity."

Hawkeye's eyes widened. "How fast would that even have to be?"

"The bigger question," Bruce Banner said thoughtfully, "isn't that Lin Feng mentioned Quicksilver was shot to death? Even if he wasn't as fast, for someone capable of such speed, their physical endurance should be incredible. Lin Feng can tank bullets and shells without issue — so how did this Quicksilver die to a gunshot?"

The others paused, realizing how strange that really sounded.

If a speedster could endure those speeds, their body had to be insanely durable.Getting killed by a bullet? That didn't make sense at all.

No wonder Lin Feng called him the "shame of speedsters."

"Could it be," Tony suggested, "that this speedster isn't the same type as Lin Feng? I mean, we've seen both magic and divine powers in play — maybe Quicksilver's speed comes from some kind of superpower or spell, not pure physical capability. If that's the case, his body might not actually be that strong."

That made everyone's eyes light up.Yes — that explained it perfectly. Why someone fast enough to reach sonic speed could still die from a bullet.

It wasn't just that he couldn't tank bullets — it was that he could be hit by one.

Meanwhile, in a heavily guarded HYDRA fortress in Sokovia, armed soldiers patrolled the halls. In a cell-like chamber, two young teens sat inside — a blond boy and a red-haired girl of about thirteen or fourteen.

The boy's name was Pietro. The girl, with long crimson hair and a striking face, wore a red dress and was flipping through a notebook.

On the cover were the words: Lin Feng's Diary (Wanda's Copy).

Yes — this young girl was none other than the future Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff.

Though right now, she was still just a young teenager.

"Well?" Pietro asked curiously. "Anything new in there?"

"I'm still reading," Wanda shot him a glare.

She'd only recently gotten the diary, and when she first read it, her entire worldview nearly collapsed.

She couldn't believe all that talk about parallel universes, multiverses, and timelines. It sounded like utter nonsense.

But as more evidence piled up, she couldn't deny it anymore. There really might be other realities — hidden worlds beyond her imagination.

And the diary even mentioned Tony Stark — their family's greatest enemy.

HYDRA had taken the twins in for a while now. They gathered orphaned children for "experiments," using science or mysticism to awaken latent powers and turn them into living weapons.

Compared to most of the test subjects, Wanda and Pietro had come willingly — half-willingly, anyway. HYDRA had promised to give them the strength to avenge their parents.

Their hatred for Stark ran deep. The shell that destroyed their home bore the unmistakable logo of Stark Industries — the one bomb that didn't explode, staring them in the face for two days.

Their parents had died in that war. Two children, too young to understand, couldn't have known which warlords were fighting — only that the bomb that killed their family had Tony Stark's name on it.

HYDRA had seized on that hatred, brainwashing them with talk of vengeance.

But lately… that hatred had begun to waver.

Because the diary showed them things — things like Tony Stark carrying a nuclear missile through a wormhole, sacrificing himself to save New York from the Chitauri. They'd seen his arrogance, yes — but also his bravery.

They were still young, but not completely blind to right and wrong. Watching Stark's selfless act shook them deeply.

And as they continued reading about even greater cosmic threats — Dormammu, who sought to devour Earth; Thanos, who wanted to erase half the universe — their entire perspective began to shift.

Compared to those apocalyptic dangers, their parents' death seemed… smaller. Not meaningless, but part of something far greater.

They began to question everything.

Was Tony Stark really the one who killed their parents?
