Alex wasn't used to emotions.
There at the far end of the hallway was Kyle the maid boy and duke Fernando's son.
He couldn't tell what he felt when he saw Kyle and Lucian in that compromising position. At first he wanted to call out instinctively but he decided to watch and observe. He was curious as to know who started the whole thing. This would confirm his suspicion of the boy was just pretending, trying to climb his way up.
"Come with me to Malariee. " The dukes son was saying.
"I'll make sure you never lack anything and nobody would ever touch you."
Lucian's voice has dropped to a whisper as he used the back of his fingers to leave a trail down Kyle's face.
'I knew it.' The boy's mission was just to seduce and climb. Perhaps he had really tried to sneak into his room to seduce him and was trying to play dumb about it. Perhaps Alex should have him thrown out of the castle or kill him before the duke's son finds out his powers. If there was one thing Alex was sure of concerning Kyle it was that the boy couldn't uses his abilities yet.
Alex clenched his fists. He was about to call out when a sharp crack echoed across the hallway.
Stunned silence settled.
Alex didn't believe any gold digger would be able to turn down an offer like that. If he had just turned down the offer Alex would have thought he was playing hard to get or he was aiming higher.
Or he was just dumb.
But Kyle didn't just turn down the offer. He had raised his hands on the son of a duke. Perhaps he knew the consequences or maybe he didn't. He could be executed for raising his hands on a noble as a servant.
Just as he thought that, Lucian suddenly grabbed both of Kyle's wrists in one hand and started pulling away.
Alex knew he shouldn't intervene personally. But he could intervene as the crown prince. Before he could even register anything he heard his own voice calling out
"Kyle."
His voice came out controlled with an edge to it.
"What are you doing here?"
He asked completely ignoring Lucian.
Kyle looked up at the prince then quickly looked away, his eyes looking anywhere but the prince, his face turning red.
Alex took this action as Kyle being shy to have been caught red handed like this.
Lucian took the same action as Kyle acting coy before the prince because he liked him.
In truth, Kyle was just embarrassed about falling asleep on his first glorious lesson with the prince. He thought the prince was asking why Kyle was still outside his office. He would have left long ago if not for Lucian. He glanced at Lucian. This was all his fault. Kyle thought feeling wronged.
Lucian was surprised when he first heard the prince's voice. He wasn't supposed to be out by now. But his surprise turned into anger when he noticed the prince not paying any attention to him at all. He pretended as if he wasn't there and talked directly to the maid. Lucian feigned calm and tried to speak when he was cut off by the prince speaking to the maid again.
"Did you not hear me or do you want me to repeat myself? And where is the tea I asked for?"
Kyle's eyes widened in surprise, then came confusion. He stuttered
"I-I'm going to get it now your highness." He bowed low.
"Don't bother. I needed it now. Get inside the study."
Kyle's heart skipped a beat. This was it his punishment would be handed over to him hard. Kyle bowed again and slowly opened the door to the office and went in.
Alex turned on his heels and went in after Kyle with Lucas trailing behind them, leaving, Lucian to seeth in anger.
