Valerie ran towards Golgor Stonehammer at her maximum speed which was fast.The orc could barely track her movements.Valerie crossed tens of metres in under a second.
She then activated her new legendary rank skill radioactive blade enhancement which she had gained with her first level up.Her daggers gained extension blades made of pure mana based radiation.They would corrode through anything they cut and sliced through anything at the molecular level.
The orc was barely able to react as the boss human made a deep cut just below his elbow.He swung with his large Hammer that was longer then Valerie was tall.Valerie had already leapt back long before the hammer made its arc.
Golgor wasn't expecting to come across such a fast opponent so he was unprepared.He should have created an enclosed space with earth magic but then the woman would just do one of those large energy blasts that seemed to poison the ground and destroy matter.
Golgor grimaced as the cut below his elbow was bleeding blood as well as small specks of dead flesh and starting to sting heavily.Worst of all he could feel his mana turning into poison inside his own body.It was just a small amount but it was converting his healthy mana into poison at a slow rate as well.
"Is this how I go out? To a speedy assassin type who uses poison like a coward.I just created my own tribe though."
Golgors thought process grew slow or rather it was his surroundings that slowed down which gave him time to think.The dangerous situation was causing his body to speed up its perception so he could think of a way out.
"Hmmm the toxic mana is spreading slower then I thought it would but a few more cuts should speed up the process."
Golgor heard the woman's words clearly as he saw her whizzing around.Her movements were a lot more visible due to his temporarily enhanced perception.The dangerous situation had boosted his perception but not his speed.He needed to think.
He narrowed his eyes and thought back to his childhood.His father was telling him something about mana and presence.
"What do you mean father?"
A young Golgor let go of his training equipment as he looked to his father.His father looked down at him with his one good eye.
"I'll repeat it as many times as I have to.Not every enemy is going to come at you headon weapons blazing."
"But father only cowards resort to those kinds of tactics and arsenals."
Young Golgor gave a spirited voice to his opinions.
"That might be true for proper orcs but the other races have far more variety to their wars and conflicts.Some like to use poison whilst others use curses.As an orc you need to be prepared for these kinds of approaches.How do you think I lost my eye."
Golgors father tapped his cheek below the pale orb that was once a healthy functional eye for emphasis.
"But father you can just resist those things if you get strong enough."
"You are partly correct having pure enough mana and a strong enough presence can negate weak poisons and curses entirely.But what if the poison or curse is strong enough to affect you regardless of your presence or mana.What will you do then?"
The orc looked down to his son who appeared to think for a bit then seemed perplexed and confused.
"What can you do?"
"Well son there are many approaches but the two most common methods are mana expulsion and mana containment.The first is a method that enables you to expel poison and polluted or negatively affected mana from your body by releasing it through your pores.The second is a method that allows you to contain and prevent spread of poison and polluted or negatively effected mana by creating internal barriers made of mana around the curse or poison.I'll teach you both methods."
Golgor thought back to the present.The current opponent he was facing was using abilities very reminiscent of both poisons and curses.Since the toxic mana in his body was converting the mana surrounding it into toxic mana the mana containment method would probably be ineffective.
He would try the first method.Golgor narrowed his eyes and concentrated as he forced some of his healthy mana to force the sick and toxic mana as well as the dead cells out of his body.A sort of mist exited the gash on Golgors arm as he succeeded in his endeavour.
Valerie noticed what was happening and was confused.How did the orc just get rid of the mana based radiation?
Valerie shook her head as she regained her composure whilst darting around Golgor.If one cut didn't work then she would just cut the orc a bunch more times.
