Chapter 24 The Alliance with the Demi-Humans [2]
In the dimly lit room, there was a square table that was made out of wood. There were four seats around it, also carved from the same rough wood. Upon them sat four figures.
In the first sit that was a bit higher than the rest, to his left sit Christina to his right side sit Kitsu, and across of the table sit Jack.
They all looked at each other in quiet for a few moments, and then the silence was broken when Ashton started to speak.
"So you want to form an alliance with us?"
"Yes," Jack replied without hesitation, then continued, "It will be beneficial for both sides, right? I don't want any meaningless bloodshed between us. That's why I've come to form this alliance."
Ashton looked at him for a moment, and then he thought.
"I should ask Christina's opinion first, since she's technically my advisor if it were in morden times."
Then he turned his head towards Christina, who was sitting quietly writing something on the cray tablet on her hand.
(Note from the author: The cray tablet is like what gilgamesh and his nation use instead of paper, because there is no paper yet in this day and age yet.)
"What do you think of this, Christina? tell me your opinion on this matter if you have any." Ashton asked her.
"Well, your Majesty, as much as I want to deny his proposal, I think we should accept it." Christina replied.
"Ohhh? "Why would she accept so easily there must be a reason, right?" Ashton thought and asked,"Will you tell me the reason?"
"Well, my king, I agree to it because I think it will give us more firepower in the future, against those gods if they decide to attack us. That's why I suggest we agree to his alliance request."
"I see," Ashton replied and looked at Jack, who was just sitting there waiting for the answer.
"We agree on your proposal then, but we will have to make rules. Is that okay with you?
Jack was taken aback by the agreement. He didn't expect the humans to agree to his proposal that easily.
Then he nods. "Of course, I don't mind at all as long it doesn't put the demi-humans in danger," then he looks at Kitsu and says,"Won't you agree, Kitsu?"
Kitsu looked at Jack with dumbfounded expression and said in an annoying tone, "Why are you asking me? You're the leader, not me."
Ashton stood up and walked towards Jack and extended his hand towards him in a gesture of hand shaking. Jack was confused, but he he did the same, and they shook hands.
"Well then, should I call you Ashton." Jack asked Ashton.
Ashton smiled slightly and said, "I don't mind."
"Then Ashton, it is time for me to depart, then he turn to Kitsu and says, "gother your men, and let's go back. Your brother is waiting." Then they left.
After they left, Ashton sat down and inhaled deeply in relief and asked Christina a question "was my act good?"
Christina, who was writing something on the cray tablet, says, "Yes, you did well, your Majesty."
"At least say that with emotional face," Ashton thought. "Anyway, Christina, after finishing whatever that you're doing, go rest. I'm sure you're tired, right?" "Go rest for the day. Tomorrow, we have more work to do, "
"But you're Majesty_____." Ashton cut her off and said, "That's an order as your king, or are you trying to disobeying my orders?"
Christina froze for a moment, then she bowed slightly and said, "Not at all, your Majesty. I will go now." Then she left the room, leaving Ashton alone.
Ashton sat down on the chair, exhaling deeply "Damn that was harder than I thought," Ashton murmured under his breath.
"Really?" Come the voice beside him. It was Kyen-Seen who somehow entered the room without being noticed.
"Ahh!" Ashton yelped, instinctively shifting into a defensive stance. When he realized it was Kyen-Seen, he exhaled sharply. "Don't scare me like that — I could've attacked you!"
"Forgive me, Ashton. I did but test a new skill upon thee — one I call [Presence Concealment]."
"What?" Ashton was bewildered."In this age, there are no servants and no assassin either, so how did he know that skill?"Don't tell me he's the one who made it? Impossible, " Ashton touched his head while thinking of those absurd thoughts
"Well, anyway, why did you come in here? Don't tell me it's just to show off your new technique?"
"Of course not," Kyen-Seen answered and suddenly turned serious. "Are you sure it's a good idea to trust them?" Kyen-Seen looked at Ashton, waiting for an answer.
"Of course not. Why would I trust them?"
"Then------" Kyen-Seen was about to ask again, but he was cut short by Ashton
"But it was not a bad choice either,
we need more allies, so if the so-called gods decide to attack us, we would at least stand a chance against them" Ashton replied with a relaxed tone.
"I see. I understand now," Kyen-Seen nodded in understanding. Then Ashton changed the subject
"So how was our village? Is it good?" Ashton asked. " Of course, it was good. The people were really kind to me." Kyen-Seen replied with a cheerful tone.
"I see. That's good to hear," Ashton replied. Then he stood up and stretched, then he he started walking towards the door and said, "I don't have anything to do today, so go rest." Tomorrow is a big day,we will be very busy," Ashton advised and left towards his own house.
After he entered the house, he closed the door and sat down on the centre of the room, "ever since I drank the blood of the Dragon, I have been feeling weird, it was like im changing "I should check what is going on in my body"
He sits down, cross–legged, and closes his eyes the moment he does so. He is surprised because in his closed eyes state, he could see clearly, but he does not see normal things, but------ he can see ether around him a massive ether energy surrounded him.
He exhaled, but even exhaling what comes out is pure ether. "What is this? Is this because I eat the dragon?" Then he started to consume the ether into his ether [heart technique], but as he does so, he felt something so he concentrated on it, and what he found was shocking.
"Well damn is this thing real."
Yes, it was a **Dragon Core**.
