Xu Fu was genuinely surprised.
To learn that—
The Devourer of Planets was one of the founding gods of this universe.
The identities of the Five Founders had always been shrouded in secrecy, known only to a handful of ancient entities.
Only veteran wanderers who lingered in the deepest reaches of the cosmos knew this secret. So Noranin never expected that this seemingly ordinary man before him—a being from the small, blue star—would actually know who his master truly was: the Devourer of Planets himself.
He was, indeed, very surprised.
Xu Fu, however, ignored Noranin's shock.
He merely whispered inwardly:
"I know far more than you do. So why would something this simple surprise me?"
Then he looked straight at Noranin and asked in a calm, low voice:
"Don't worry about how I know.Just tell me—where is that planet-eater now?Did he come here with you?"
Seeing the seriousness in Xu Fu's eyes, Noranin realized this wasn't the time to stall.
He no longer had his cosmic surfboard. He was no match for Xu Fu at all.
And besides, even if Xu Fu somehow learned where his master was, there was no way he could threaten that being.
So he replied evenly,
"No—you're mistaken."
"My master, the Devourer of Planets, didn't come here with me."
"He merely sent me to observe this small asteroid in this remote galaxy—"
"—to see whether it has grown enough to become his next meal."
"Hmm…"
Xu Fu frowned slightly, falling into brief thought.
So, just as in the stories, the Devourer hadn't come in person—he had only dispatched his herald, the Silver Surfer Noranin, to scout the planet first.
That meant… the next time he arrived, it would likely be directly for Blue Star.
Fortunately, Xu Fu had encountered the Silver Surfer first. That gave him enough buffer time to prepare.
About the Devourer of Planets, Xu Fu didn't know everything—but he knew enough from countless tales and records.
The Devourer of Planets was said to be one of the Five Founding Gods of the universe.
But unlike the other four, who were abstract embodiments of universal concepts—he was different.
The Devourer of Planets was the only god born from man.
He had once been the sole survivor of the previous universe's destruction.By a cosmic twist of fate, his existence had been transferred into the "cosmic egg" of the current universe's Big Bang.
In that sense—the Devourer of Planets was the first lifeform of this new cosmos.
Therefore, he was the creator god of the Marvel universe—the one known as the Bestowed God,the Devourer of Planets.
Yet because he carried remnants of the previous universe within him, a trace of rejection lingered between him and this one.
His energy constantly decayed, forcing him to replenish it by devouring planets.
Thus, in every tale, he was shown as a starving god—forever unsated, forever seeking sustenance.
And that same hunger meant he was almost never at his peak strength when facing his foes.So time and again, those he considered beneath him were able to defeat—or even kill—him.
Despite this unflattering record, Xu Fu knew better than to underestimate such a being.
The Devourer of Planets was still a supreme deity.
And right now, Xu Fu was far from ready to face such an existence.
Not to mention—behind him was Blue Star, a massive burden.
Even if Xu Fu himself didn't care about the planet, his companions would stand no chance against the Devourer.
So before that god arrived, Xu Fu needed to grow stronger—fast—or find some way to deal with the coming threat.
Noranin, watching him closely, noticed a faint tension cross Xu Fu's face.
He thought Xu Fu was afraid of his master. But he was wrong.
Xu Fu wasn't afraid of the Devourer of Planets—he was worried about being noticed too soon by the supreme deities that ruled this universe.
He knew that if he killed the Devourer…it would inevitably draw the gaze of other cosmic gods from distant universes.
For most beings, such attention would be a supreme honor.
But not for Xu Fu.
His power hadn't yet reached the level where he could confront creation gods. And he carried secrets—many of them—within his body.
Secrets that must never be discovered by the supreme beings.
He didn't know how deep their perception went.He didn't know whether they had the means to peer into the strange "system" within him.
If they did—then revealing himself too early would be suicide.
Still, Xu Fu knew he wasn't far from that level.
He already possessed four of the Infinity Stones—only two remained.
He had no intention of crafting a gauntlet like the "mad titan" from the movies, nor did he plan to cull half the universe.
But he understood well:with all six Stones in hand, his strength would reach a tier where even cosmic deities had to acknowledge him.
At that point, he could finally stand as an equal—and speak in the same breath as those lofty gods of creation.
With that thought, Xu Fu turned back to Noranin.
"So what you're saying is—your master, the Devourer of Planets, will only come here after receiving your report?"
Noranin realized Xu Fu was probing for the exact timing of his master's arrival.
He didn't bother hiding it.
"That's usually the case," he replied."But… sometimes, if I encounter something I can't handle…""Then, after about a month without hearing from me, my master will come in person."
"A month?" Xu Fu murmured. "That's more than enough time."
Then he ordered coldly,
"Monday—open a space portal. Take this one back and lock him in the ship's prison. Guard him strictly."
The Guardians of the Galaxy ship had an underground cell once used by Yondu's crew for keeping captured prey.
Having extracted the information he needed, Xu Fu decided to imprison the Silver Surfer, Noranin, there.
And the only reason he was allowed to live—
was because Xu Fu still had use for him.
