Chapter 167 - Chapter 168: Supergirl’s Most Beautiful Moment

Chapter 168: Supergirl's Most Beautiful Moment

The wooden house on the farm.

In the first-floor living room.

Xi Nian and Kal were sitting on the couch. Xi Nian was watching television, while Kal held a newspaper, quietly reading.

From the nearby kitchen, the scent of freshly cooked meat drifted through the air.

Inside, Lois Lane—the reporter Xi Nian had seen last time in the plaza, and also Kal's girlfriend—was acting as the chef.

Supergirl Kara, upon arriving here, had immediately gone upstairs to change clothes. She came back down wearing a loose long-sleeved shirt and soft cotton pants. Her dark golden hair was tied in a simple ponytail, and she walked down the stairs in pink slippers, the sound of her steps light and cheerful.

Kara didn't speak to Xi Nian again, but instead naturally slipped into the kitchen to help with the meal.

That left only the two men sitting together on the sofa, and the atmosphere turned somewhat awkward.

Xi Nian couldn't help but feel like it was his first time visiting his girlfriend's family. The last time he had this feeling was when he visited Kara's adoptive parents' home.

Honestly, things had developed much faster than he expected. After only two meetings, he had already met almost all of Kara's family. Well—except for her missing older cousin, who was said to be wandering somewhere in outer space.

"That young man before… that was you, wasn't it?" Kal suddenly spoke up, turning his head toward Xi Nian. He didn't use his X-ray vision to scan him—just looked.

Young man?

Oh. He must mean the one who fought Superman in his Supergod Mode.

Xi Nian hesitated for a moment, then nodded, admitting it.

If Kal really wanted to know, he could simply ask Kara. Denying it wouldn't serve any purpose.

Besides, Xi Nian didn't believe Kal would harm him—unless he did something to Kara…

To Xi Nian's surprise, Kal calmly set down his newspaper. His strong, chiseled face broke into a faint smile. "That was impressive. Compared to General Zod or Doomsday, the pressure you gave me was even greater."

Seeing Xi Nian's puzzled look, Kal raised an eyebrow. "Right, you probably don't know who General Zod is. He was the commander of a Kryptonian warship that once descended on Earth."

"That was just by chance, by chance…" Xi Nian scratched his head. Could he really say it was just coincidence?

Activating Supergod Mode required three people working together—one of whom had to be Kara.

Of course, Xi Nian couldn't reveal that secret. Otherwise, the seemingly calm Superman sitting across from him might very well turn hostile.

"Coincidence alone couldn't defeat me."

Kal's deep gaze fixed on Xi Nian as he asked, "I want to know one thing. Could you access that power a second time?"

Xi Nian glanced toward the ponytailed girl in the kitchen and thought for a moment. "It shouldn't be a problem."

"That's good. That's very good." Kal's eyes lit up, as if countless thoughts flashed through his mind. He muttered under his breath, almost to himself.

"Mr. Kal?" Xi Nian felt something was off. It was as though Superman was already planning something.

For someone as powerful as Superman, the very peak of superhero strength, to need to plan ahead—whatever he was preparing for had to be unimaginably dangerous.

Something that might require the power of Supergod Mode as a final safeguard.

"Just call me Kal. From now on, we might very well be family." Kal smiled casually, then added, his tone straightforward, "Kara is a wonderful girl. She's also my only remaining relative from Krypton. I know she's liked you for a long time. In fact, even half a year ago she already…"

Xi Nian's eyes widened.

Before Kal could finish, Kara suddenly rushed out of the kitchen with a flustered cry. Her face was bright red with embarrassment as she hurriedly cut him off. "Lunch is ready!"

"Coming," Kal answered quickly, standing up. He patted Xi Nian on the shoulder, as if in encouragement.

Xi Nian was left speechless. So even Superman was the kind of brother who sold out his sister?

Lunchtime.

Kal's adoptive mother, Martha, had also returned home to eat with them. Between Martha's warmth and Lois's enthusiasm, Xi Nian sat stiffly, answering every question carefully, his scalp tingling from the constant attention. Kara, sitting to the side, secretly chuckled at his plight.

When Martha learned that Xi Nian had also been an abandoned child, she felt deep sympathy. She kept telling him that he was welcome to come by and visit anytime.

Xi Nian didn't know how to explain that being taken in and raised by Diana had already been the greatest blessing of his life.

Still, Martha and Lois both gave him a strong sense of kindness and warmth.

By the end of the meal, Xi Nian had blended surprisingly well into the family's atmosphere.

At one point, he deliberately glanced at the rings on Lois's and Kal's fingers—matching rings worn on their left hands. Smiling, he teased, "Looks like I'll be attending a wedding very soon."

Kal and Lois exchanged a look and smiled together.

Kal shrugged. "If not this year, then next year. When that time comes, I want the best man and bridesmaid to be you two."

He didn't need to say which "two." Everyone at the table understood.

Xi Nian's view of Superman deepened. Good grief—even in conversation, he somehow managed to turn the focus back onto him?

Truly worthy of being called the god among men.

"Cousin, aren't you going to eat your food?" Kara shot Kal a glare.

"Of course, cousin."

Kal smiled faintly. He was already over thirty, while Kara appeared to be only just an adult. For the two of them to address each other as cousin and cousin in this way was almost absurd.

At that moment, Xi Nian suddenly remembered—Kara's true age was actually over thirty as well. A perfectly legal Kryptonian young woman.

After lunch.

Martha suggested Kara take Xi Nian out to explore the nearby fields. Kara readily agreed.

That afternoon.

They passed through a vast cornfield and dense brush, until the view suddenly opened up—

Before them stretched an endless meadow, the green grass rolling all the way to the distant mountains like a soft, natural carpet.

Between the meadow and the mountains lay a broad lake. As the sun set, the light and reflections shimmered across the water's surface.

On a grassy hillside, a boy and a girl leaned against each other.

Xi Nian wore the casual clothes he had left home in that morning. Kara had changed back into her Supergirl uniform. For Kryptonians, these suits weren't just battle attire—they were part of their cultural clothing system, divided into home, diplomatic, and combat wear depending on style.

By wearing her Supergirl suit so casually in front of Xi Nian, Kara was making a statement—an acknowledgment of both her Kryptonian heritage and her current life as a human.

"Watch this." Kara suddenly exhaled toward the lake.

A freezing wind swept across the surface. The moment it touched the water, the lake froze into glittering ice. The cold air clashed with the valley's warm breeze, creating swirling white mist that danced upward into the sky.

Xi Nian's eyes lit up in admiration.

Her red cape and skirt whipped in the wind, her figure proud and radiant. Yet there was still a playful charm in her smile. Her chest rose confidently, her golden hair flowing freely between platinum and bronze hues. Behind her, the sun formed a halo, like a rainbow crown.

The strength and confidence of a Kryptonian, blended with the kindness and warmth of a human—

At that moment, Supergirl was at her most beautiful.
