Chapter 228 - Chapter 228: Supreme Consummate Wisdom!

This law named Wisdom blossomed within her resplendent divinity with endless, eternal, sacred radiance!

To all beings who longed to transcend ignorance, it bore the supreme, irresistible allure.

For only after possessing wisdom does any existence truly become a great and precious life!

Metis, the source of love and desire, after falling into the oceanic current that begets all matter and swells the entire cosmos,

and within that current, after being jointly and wholeheartedly nurtured by the Mother of Streams, Tethys—the gentlest, most generous, most compassionate, most meticulous, and purest, who nourishes all things—finally brought forth the most precious child.

Indeed, none more so.

This is wisdom.

And what is wisdom?

Wisdom is the ability to live well.

It is not the cold knowledge recorded in books that can be learned directly; nor is it the so‑called quickness one is born with.

Rather, after learning valuable knowledge, through long experience constantly reflecting, weighing gains and losses among countless choices, and understanding and forbearance in dealing with all things, it is the comprehensive quality that maintains foresight when facing an endless future.

Wisdom is an excellent cognitive and practical capacity that integrates knowledge, experience, and value judgment.

The aim of wisdom is not merely to see the world clearly, but to live fittingly within it,

and always to choose toward the light that reduces suffering, increases harmony, and realizes the meaning of life itself.

Wisdom is never a destination one can arrive at, but an ongoing process that evolves eternally within existence.

It is the supreme presence that, amid a noisy world, keeps the heart clear and limpid; amid complex relationships, keeps compassion and empathy; and before the irresistible torrent of fate, keeps the courage to hold one's head high and march on.

To know what something is—that is knowledge; to know how to do it—that is cleverness; only to know why one does it and what its long‑term meaning is—that is true wisdom.

In Eastern philosophy, the highest wisdom is that the highest good is like water.

In the eyes of the truly awakened, the Buddha, true wisdom is prajna that illuminates all.

Only after possessing wisdom can one truly be called a real life.

Only after possessing wisdom can one, amid the teeming red dust, live an excellent and happy life.

Sadly, beings who truly possess wisdom are all too few.

Even this goddess who represents wisdom still cannot be counted as the supreme wisdom in the truest sense.

For true wisdom is rationality, awakening, and the true, eternal tranquility of the heart.

And she is still far from these.

Even if she is the embodiment of the true law of wisdom, she still cannot be deemed the truly supreme wisdom.

And the supreme wisdom Zeus now sought to help her attain could still only be the perfection of the law of wisdom itself.

Gazing at the law of supreme wisdom in his beloved's divinity, dazzling like billions of stars all bursting with their brightest radiance, Zeus's eyes were filled with the deepest infatuation.

As the all‑knowing and all‑powerful, he naturally possessed the true, supreme, flawless wisdom, and he loved wisdom most of all.

Zeus slowly calmed his mind and, with unprecedented solemnity, merged into Metis's wisdom-essence all within his own divinity that he had gained from the two Primordial Titans of intellect—Coeus and Phoebe: intellect, inquiry, insight, thought, and that most precious law for wisdom, purity.

In an instant, the whole cosmos resounded with the most solemn and holy thunder of celebration!

Endless splendid lights shone from the boundless void; from its deepest roots the universe rejoiced and exulted!

Supreme wisdom was perfected in that moment!

It brought forth an endless light of enlightenment, bursting from the void! Billions of blossoms coalesced from light scattered over every corner of the universe!

Multicolored auspicious clouds of celebration filled all the world, everywhere resounded wondrous yet solemn divine tones!

Those inexhaustible, mysterious inscriptions of the Way of Heaven—the ultimate secrets of the universe that even ordinary great gods could not glimpse a single word of in a lifetime—

at that moment, generously revealed their sacred, true faces to the whole cosmos!

Cool, pure, crystal‑dust‑like light merged into the interwoven threads of the Way of Heaven!

All the threads ultimately gathered into a boundless, vast web of causes and reasons!

A cosmic nervous system flowing with the light of thought stretched from Olympus at the universe's center to every corner, covering all existence!

Upon this vast web, all possibilities of past, present, and future hung like dewdrops on a spider's web, suddenly lit, crystal clear and plain to see, reflecting one another!

From a supernova's violent eruption to a flake of snow silently forming at a distant galaxy's edge; from the sudden birth of a ray of light to the slow draping of the endless veil of night—

the profound connections among them, spanning immeasurable distance and endless time, were at this moment simultaneously seen and understood!

This magnificent portent brought no increase or decrease of matter to the universe, yet at the most fundamental level it completely transformed and magnified the cosmos!

The universe no longer merely existed; it began to become knowable.

No longer merely vast; it now truly possessed the meaning of splendor!

The birth of the law of supreme wisdom was not a simple act of creation and refinement, but the universe's first self‑awakening!

After endless ages of darkness, the whole universe at last, in this moment, realized how gorgeous and grand it truly is!

And all spiritual beings, after boundless darkness and confusion, finally began to yearn for and to seek the meaning of why I exist!

Praise wisdom!

Because of wisdom, we truly exist!

And the merciful, generous God-King did not hoard this most precious wisdom of the cosmos within his own divinity to deprive other beings of the chance to awaken.

He generously granted every spiritual life, all existence, the opportunity to possess the wisdom that can fulfill itself and tend toward nobility!

The former sovereign of spirit once bestowed spirit upon all things; even the lowliest speck of dust might, over long ages, possess a faint spark of spirit.

When the new God-King acceded, the great Zeus gave spirit the chance to grow; he granted spirit the boon to condense and be elevated into a soul, giving it the possibility to become stronger and clearer.

And now the great Zeus shed, without reserve, the light of wisdom across the whole universe!

Henceforth every spiritual life would have the chance to awaken and become a great and noble intelligent being!

Even to attain the supreme awakening that penetrates all illusion, ends all hardship, and reaches true, eternal peace—to possess the great wisdom that only gods can have!

From this day on, in the vast universe, the noblest beings are the truly intelligent beings!

All truly intelligent beings will possess a nobility of character like the gods, and be immortal by virtue of their radiant, shining wise souls!

All beauty and splendor in the universe will exist because of wisdom, and will be enjoyed by wisdom!

Praise wisdom!

Praise Zeus!

Throughout the universe, all beings—whether or not they knew the specific cause of this portent—

so long as they possessed spirit, at this moment, from the root of spirit itself and in obedience to the instinct of grown spirit, all acclaimed the light of great wisdom and all acclaimed the God-King's ocean‑deep mercy and generosity!

All gods of the universe, all beings of the Three Realms and Three Domains, felt unending joy!

These unprecedented auspicious marvels and celebrations continued throughout the cosmos for thirty‑three days before ebbing like the tide.

When all outside had returned to its former calm, the wisdom goddess finally opened her eyes slowly in her beloved's arms.

In that instant she felt that she and her past self were now utterly different.

She could not say exactly how.

It was a subtle and marvelous change, hard to express in words.

Even if she exhausted the language of gods right now, she could not express it precisely.

Though unsayable, she had indeed undergone an earthshaking transformation.

The only constant was the ever deepening love for her beloved God-King.

She gazed quietly at the God-King before her.

Having attained supreme wisdom, now more perceptive than ever before, she could more clearly than at any other time see how she, from the level of divinity and essence, belonged wholly to this God-King.

And she could see, with perfect clarity, in the God-King's boundless divinity, that undisguised, to‑the‑very‑root obsession with her.

After attaining the supreme, her love for the God-King within her divinity had only grown, becoming even purer and more intense.

For true wisdom must belong to the all‑knowing Lord.
