Chapter 215 – Sharp Naruto, Lying Sasuke
Was it just a coincidence?
The Chūnin instructor frowned. He'd been teaching long enough to know that the class clown — Naruto Uzumaki — could barely sit still, let alone dodge a chalk throw meant to hit him squarely on the head.
There was no way that first dodge was an accident.
To be sure, the teacher grabbed another piece of chalk and threw it again — faster this time, with pinpoint precision.
To his astonishment, Naruto didn't just dodge.
He caught it.
Using his index and middle fingers.
In one smooth motion, Naruto landed in a crouch on his desk, holding the chalk with exaggerated coolness, an unreadable expression on his face as if posing for a dramatic painting.
Sasuke's mouth twitched.
He's doing it again… going full idiot mode.
Did Naruto really think he could act however he pleased just because his father was the Hokage?
He expected the teacher to explode in anger — maybe even hand Naruto a punishment slip on the spot.
Instead, what came next completely blindsided him.
"Now, Naruto," the Chūnin said with a strained smile, "please be quiet in class, alright?"
He bent down to pick up the fallen chalk and, when he straightened up, his tone had softened to one of almost fatherly kindness.
Sasuke nearly fell off his chair.
What the—?
He could only stare in disbelief, utterly speechless.
Unbelievable. This teacher's afraid of him?
He sighed in defeat. Maybe the man wasn't afraid of Naruto himself… maybe he just respected the memory of the Fourth Hokage, Naruto's late father — the hero who once saved the entire village.
That had to be it.
"Okay, teacher! Got it! I'll be quiet!" Naruto said cheerfully, completely missing the tension in the room.
The Chūnin smiled helplessly, rubbed his temples, and went back to teaching.
---
By evening, classes ended and the students poured out of the Academy.
Sasuke walked out slowly, feeling a strange mix of anticipation and unease.
Part of him was nervous because of the bet he'd made with Naruto — if his father came back today, Naruto would lose, and Sasuke could finally boss him around for once. But another part of him… genuinely wanted to see his father again.
It had only been a day and a half since Fugaku had left, but to Sasuke, it felt longer.
He deeply admired his father — calm, powerful, and dignified — the man who embodied everything Sasuke aspired to be.
At the school gate, he scanned the crowd. No sign of Fugaku.
He exhaled in relief.
Just then—
"Sasuke! Why do you look so jumpy?"
Naruto's voice startled him.
Sasuke stiffened and turned, trying to act casual. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Naruto squinted, circling him like a hawk, his suspicious eyes narrowing. Sasuke tried to look indifferent, but the way he avoided Naruto's gaze only made things worse.
"You're lying!" Naruto declared loudly.
Sasuke clicked his tongue. "You big idiot." He turned on his heel and ran.
"Hey! What are you hiding? Tell me!" Naruto shouted, grinning as he gave chase.
In an instant, the two boys leapt onto the rooftops, their feet barely touching the tiles as they sprinted across the village skyline.
Down below, a dozen students who'd just left the Academy froze in disbelief.
"Wait, what?! They can already do that?!"
Even the Chūnin teacher on gate duty was stunned. His gaze followed the two darting silhouettes across the rooftops, and he couldn't help feeling both admiration and exasperation.
The Uchiha crest gleamed proudly on Sasuke's back — unmistakable.
So that's the difference between clans and commoners…
To be able to channel chakra into their feet and move so effortlessly at that age — it was astounding. When he was their age, he hadn't even managed to extract chakra.
He sighed deeply. "A dragon begets a dragon, a phoenix begets a phoenix… truly unfair."
Still watching the sky where they'd vanished, his eyes glimmered with both pride and envy.
---
Meanwhile, Naruto and Sasuke were already racing through the village rooftops, one ahead, one chasing — both moving at nearly the same speed.
Under Uchiha Itachi's recent guidance, their skills had become nearly equal.
In fact, Naruto's improvement was even more astonishing. He'd started from nothing — no background, no prior training, not even basic chakra control — and yet, in just a short time, he'd managed to catch up to Sasuke.
It spoke volumes about his raw talent… and the fact that the Nine-Tails inside him had remained quiet lately.
If things had gone like in the "original timeline," Naruto might not even have learned to extract chakra by now.
Sasuke, on the other hand, still hadn't awakened his Sharingan — his true Uchiha potential was still dormant. Once that eye opened, he and Naruto would truly stand as equals — the reincarnations of Indra and Asura, destined to mirror one another.
---
The two continued their high-speed chase until they finally reached the Uchiha compound.
Both jumped the courtyard wall at the same time and landed side by side in perfect sync.
"Got you!" Naruto laughed, grabbing the back of Sasuke's shirt. He wasn't even breathing hard.
Sasuke turned slightly, face calm and composed. "You idiot. I already told you — there's nothing."
For the two of them, this little sprint barely counted as exercise.
Naruto's chakra reserves were vast — losing a bit of energy meant nothing to him.
Sasuke's chakra was less abundant, but still far beyond average. The Uchiha were no strangers to power; only compared to the Uzumaki's monstrous reserves did his seem small.
"I don't believe you!" Naruto said stubbornly, eyes full of suspicion.
Once Naruto decided something, no one could talk him out of it. And right now, his instincts screamed that Sasuke was lying.
He didn't know what about — but that only made him more curious. It felt like an itch he couldn't scratch.
"Let go of me," Sasuke said flatly, exasperated.
Naruto grinned, tightening his grip. "Not until you tell me!"
