ARIA
The silence in the forest was deafening as I continued to gape at Sophia's unmoving body. Wind howled, picking up dirt, tossing it across the forest, and my hair whipped around my face.
My heart pounded. Fast. Wild. Like I was in one of those horror movies where you had to watch your best friend get killed in your presence.
The difference was, Sophia wasn't my best friend. And I was the reason for her stillness. That made it even worse.
Is she dead…?
The realization of that smacked me hard in the chest. I fell back on my butt, staring at my bloodied hands, panic clawing up my throat.
"No, no, no, no!" I whispered over again, scrambling towards her.
"Sophia!" I called, pressing one hand on the stab wound, and the other went to check for a pulse in her neck. Nothing. I placed a finger under her nose, but felt… nothing.
"Oh god!" I choked out, adding more pressure to the wound. My eyes flickered around the forest, tears blurring my vision. "Help!"
