Ezrik and Willow wasted no time leaving the party.
The moment they stepped into the quiet hallway, the bass and chaos faded behind them, replaced by the sound of their footsteps echoing through the marble corridor. Willow trailed a few steps behind, watching the back of Ezrik's silver head as he led the way toward his dorm.
She couldn't stop herself from wondering if all that his fury, the way he'd defended her... had just been part of the act.
Ezrik Veyne had actually defended her. He used his abilities.
She wanted to smile about it, to feel good for once, but when he suddenly turned around to face her, that smile died halfway on her lips.
"Are you okay?" he asked softly, voice surprisingly calm.
Willow nodded, though she could still feel her pulse racing. "Yeah… but you really have to get used to it. Everyone sees me as a Dreg, Ezrik. You can't just use your abilities on anyone who decides to jab at me."
