This year, Dominic's reputation as the 'Homelander' grew increasingly prominent, especially during the birthday celebration of 'Eagle Country' - America, where he stole the show. Donning a cape colored like the stars and stripes and striking poses symbolizing justice, he made the national audience feel an unprecedented sense of 'security.' Naturally, Dominic's 'heroic deeds' also increased, becoming a constant focus of the daily news.
Occasionally encountering a few 'brave' lawbreakers, he never held back, even using a nearly cruel method to make these unlucky 'villains' understand the consequences of opposing the 'Homelander.' Every time he appeared, the media rushed to report, even bestowing upon him the title of 'modern hero.' Naturally, when saving those screaming beauties from the smoke-filled buildings, the reporters' cameras didn't miss a single angle, sculpting him into an image of an omnipotent hero.
Meanwhile, HYDRA's sporadic minor actions gradually became a kind of 'spice' in his daily life. Although these guys didn't collapse with a single blow like those street thugs, in Dominic's eyes, they were merely a group with slightly more 'entertainment value' than robbers. He would occasionally slow down his attack pace, toying with these HYDRA soldiers, watching them gradually break down under his immense power. He had to admit – it was a bit interesting.
As for General Ross, he seemed to have become exceptionally quiet after certain 'conversations' with S.H.I.E.L.D.. According to Tony, General Ross's experiments and actions were somewhat restricted. This left Dominic slightly dissatisfied and feeling a bit lonely; after all, the feeling of being invincible was indeed sometimes too solitary.
However, just as he was so bored he felt he was about to be consumed by invincibility, a new 'toy' entered his sight.
His name was 'Steve Rogers.'
This old-fashioned 'hero' was awakened from the ice, and his righteous demeanor was simply Dominic's best target for amusement. To Dominic, this so-called 'Captain America' represented a pure, almost 'textbook' sense of justice that he had never encountered. Someone who grew up with a dream of justice in the last century, now returning to a World full of gray areas, simply made Dominic unable to help but laugh.
'Steve Rogers, huh?' His lips curled slightly, revealing a smile tinged with amusement. It seemed this would be an 'unusual' contest.
'Let's see just how far your justice can go.'
Steve Rogers stepped into Dominic's mansion with heavy steps. He hadn't even reached the yard yet when he was stunned by the 'luxury style' before him – on the Sun-drenched terrace, Dominic was lazily lying on a huge Sun lounger, with a face mask on and his eyes covered with cucumber slices, looking completely like someone enjoying life. Beside him, an extremely comfortable-looking Shar-Pei was also wearing a face mask, enjoying human-like service. And on the other side was Blonsky, leisurely lying on a chair, enjoying the same treatment as his boss, applying his face mask even more seriously than Dominic, as if he wasn't a big guy at the moment, but a delicate little office worker who needed exquisite skincare.
'Uh... Mr. Dominic?' Steve tentatively spoke, clearly caught off guard by the scene before him.
Dominic waved his hand lazily, his voice coming through the cucumber slices: 'Just call me 'Homelander.' Come, Captain, have a lie down. The sunshine here is absolutely fantastic.'
Steve scratched his head, looking puzzled. 'Sorry, I'm not here to... vacation.'
Blonsky chimed in from the side, leisurely adjusting his chair's angle while joking, 'Captain, life is short, why not lie down and enjoy it first? You know, fighting is temporary, but enjoying life is long-term.' He pointed to an empty chair opposite him and laughed, 'See, Dominic said so himself, the place where you should lie down is right there.'
Steve frowned, trying to steer the conversation back. 'Mr. Dominic, uh... Homelander, I came this time to...'
Dominic didn't seem to be listening at all, just waved his hand: 'I know, you must be here to ask me to join some mission, right? Let me guess, something like the Avengers? A proposal from S.H.I.E.L.D.?' His lips curved slightly upwards in a half-smile as he said, 'But, Captain, listen to me, life is much more interesting than missions. Look at Blonsky – he used to be a soldier, a tough guy impervious to blades and bullets. Now? He doesn't think about anything else, he just wants to enjoy life properly.'
Blonsky immediately nodded in agreement: 'Hey, Captain, don't doubt it. I used to be someone who crawled and rolled on the battlefield every day. Now look at me, wearing a face mask, getting a massage to relax. Who would guess I used to be a soldier?'
'But... don't you think this is too luxurious?' Steve frowned, looking at their leisurely expressions, a mix of emotions in his heart.
Blonsky winked at him. 'Luxurious? Captain, moderate enjoyment is called luxury; excessive work is called wasting life!' He turned to look at Dominic, smiling mysteriously, 'Boss, I think the Captain might need a 'mindset change' course.'
Dominic chuckled softly, calmly took off the cucumber slices, and stared at Steve, saying, 'Captain, you have to understand one thing: living long and enjoying yourself is the way to go. Why don't you lie down and enjoy the life of a 'Homelander'?' He slightly flattened his chair and motioned to Steve, 'Give it a try. I guarantee, you'll understand what I mean the moment you lie down.'
Steve looked at the lounge chair with some hesitation, then at the relaxed-looking Blonsky, still unable to agree. He said with a somewhat anxious tone, 'But I'm not here to enjoy life, Mr. Dominic! I have a mission; we need to assemble and face global threats, not—'
'I'm also facing threats,' Dominic interrupted with a light tone, spreading his hands innocently. 'Every time I deal with bad guys, it's a World-class challenge.' He looked at Steve's somewhat helpless expression and feigned a sigh, 'Alright, it seems I have to explain my 'Homelander philosophy' to you – only by enjoying life do you have the strength to defeat bad guys. You're so tense all day long, what will you have left in the end?'
Blonsky also chimed in from the side, 'Yeah, Captain, I've experienced it myself. The more relaxed you are, the more you can discover the beauty in life.' He glanced up at Steve, 'Besides, with the 'Homelander' leading, I honestly don't feel like there's any threat at all.'
Hearing this, Steve's expression wavered slightly, but he immediately shook his head and said firmly, 'I know exactly what I should do. And what the war years taught me is to stay vigilant at all times.'
Dominic shook his head and laughed, 'That's just because you haven't enjoyed enough yet. Captain, relax a bit. The enemies aren't going anywhere. Besides, there are so many people in S.H.I.E.L.D. who can handle things. You're not the only savior.' He tilted his head slightly, a cynical smile hanging on his lips, 'Just like I'm not some savior.'
Blonsky couldn't help but laugh, and patted Steve on the shoulder: 'Come on, Captain, everyone wants to be a hero in this World, but you have to learn to love yourself.'
