Chapter 76 - Avengers Recruitment: Don't Make Fun of the Earth

In a remote South American town, the tranquil evening air was mixed with the humid tropical scent. Dr. Banner, dressed in a simple T-shirt and jeans, was quietly managing his clinic in this secluded place. Since going into hiding, he had tried his best to integrate into the land, attempting to coexist peacefully with the rage inside him. But he didn't know that someone had already tracked his whereabouts.

At the edge of the market not far away, Natasha Romanoff, dressed in black, watched Banner's clinic with sharp eyes. Her figure moved lightly through the crowd, her target clear. She knew in her heart that this mission wouldn't be easy – the other side of this Doctor was a dangerous presence not to be underestimated.

When Banner finally walked into the clinic, Natasha quietly entered, her eyes calm but with a hint of alertness. She took a deep breath and lightly knocked on the door.

Banner was tidying up the medical box on the table when he heard the knock. He looked up and saw Natasha's stern yet slightly mysterious face, frowning slightly: "You are?"

"Natasha Romanoff." She introduced herself, her tone carrying an undeniable firmness, "You can call me Black Widow."

Banner immediately stepped back vigilantly, his eyes showing a hint of doubt and wariness. He said in a low voice: "I've avoided all trouble... No matter who you are, don't try to involve me in any more plans."

Natasha smiled slightly, her eyes as sharp as knives: "Believe me, I didn't come here to ask for your permission. I'm just telling you that some things you can't escape."

Banner gave a bitter laugh and said coldly: "You all know what consequences my involvement might bring."

"Yes, and that's exactly why we need you." Natasha stared intently into his eyes, showing no sign of backing down, "We've found something more dangerous than you, a threat that none of us can handle alone."

Banner sighed helplessly, as if his inner struggle had resurfaced. He turned his head slightly, his voice low: "That's your risk, not mine."

Natasha was silent for a moment, then said softly: "It's everyone's risk, Dr. Banner." Her voice softened, carrying a hint of earnestness, "Sometimes, avoiding everything isn't the way to solve a problem."

Her words caused a ripple of wavering in Banner's heart. He knew his existence was a double-edged sword, but facing such danger, he couldn't stand idly by. A degree of determination gradually returned to his gaze: "Alright, I'll listen to what your plan is."

Natasha smiled lightly and extended her hand, gesturing for him to follow. She knew she had successfully persuaded him.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Manhattan, night fell and the city lights began to illuminate. Tony Stark was enjoying some alone time in the top-floor laboratory of Stark Tower. He was surrounded by the latest technological equipment and various unfinished inventions, holding a glass of red wine and leaning leisurely against a control console.

Just as he was enjoying his wine and debugging new equipment, the laboratory door suddenly opened automatically. Nick Fury strode in with his usual serious expression.

Tony glanced at him, deliberately pretending not to see him as he sipped his wine, and asked nonchalantly: "Nick, it's rare for you to visit Stark Tower, did you come specifically to admire my new inventions?"

Nick gave him a cold look, without any extra expression: "Tony, put down your toys. Earth needs you."

Tony raised an eyebrow, a sarcastic smile on his face: "Oh? Earth? Last time I checked, Earth only needed a superhero team."

Nick interrupted him mercilessly: "This is not the time for you to joke around, Stark. We are facing an alien threat, an enemy that could destroy Earth." His voice was serious and powerful, every word carrying immense weight.

When Tony heard the words "alien threat", the relaxed expression on his face paused slightly, but quickly returned to that nonchalant attitude: "Alien threat? That sounds a bit interesting, go on."

"Loki, the god of mischief from Asgard." Nick said calmly, a chilling sharpness in his eyes that could not be ignored, "His target is Earth. He has the Cosmic Cube in his hand, you know what that means."

Tony's expression changed, his eyebrows raised in slight shock: "The Cosmic Cube?"

Nick snorted coldly, his gaze icy: "Earth needs you, Stark. I'm assembling a team, a team that can fight against alien forces. You are one of them."

Tony couldn't help but laugh, his tone carrying a hint of teasing: "Ah, the Avengers, sounds like a long meeting. Are we going to gather together and play mahjong, or hold a UN ambassador conference?"

Nick gritted his teeth, his patience almost exhausted, but he remained unmoved, saying calmly: "Tony, I don't have time to joke with you. Earth is at a critical juncture, and you are part of our plan."

Tony pretended to think, putting on a dismissive expression: "Let me guess, you want me to put on that shiny armor, fly into outer space, and fight monsters with your little friends?"

Nick's eyes were sharp as knives, staring at Tony, his voice low and firm: "That's right. You can choose to stand aside and watch Earth be destroyed, or you can stand on the front lines and save it with your technology."

Hearing this, Tony finally put away his cynical expression. He looked deeply at Nick, and asked with a hint of hesitation: "Is it that serious?"

Nick nodded, answering without hesitation: "You haven't seen the more serious things yet, Stark. This operation is about the survival of Earth, and we don't have time."

Tony was silent for a moment, his eyes gradually becoming calm and determined. He slowly put down the red wine glass in his hand, his tone becoming steady: "Alright, if that's the case... I don't intend to miss this scene either."

A hint of a satisfied smile appeared on Nick's face. He reached out and patted Tony's shoulder: "Very good, welcome aboard. Get ready, we are about to face an enemy you've never imagined."

Tony smiled slightly, with his characteristic confidence: "Enemy? Sounds exciting. How about I start debugging the armor now and see if I can use these 'toys' to send that so-called god back to his Planet."

Nick showed a meaningful smile, a sharp light flashing in his eyes: "I hope you can show your true capabilities, Tony. Next, we need you to do more than usual."

Tony patted his chest, saying calmly: "Don't worry, since Earth needs me, I won't let it down."

The two looked at each other, their eyes filled with the awareness and determination for the battle that was about to come.
