"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 224: Miku's Yuri Instincts, Kurumi's Unease
Shuo eyed the mountain of shopping bags piled on the table, a teasing glint in his voice.
"Tell me, Miku—aren't you supposed to be a superstar? Out shopping all alone, no bodyguards trailing after you?"
Miku pouted, cheeks tinged with embarrassment.
"Darling, you're so mean! Always making fun of me."
She softened instantly, her eyes shimmering with longing.
"But you haven't come to see me in ages… I really missed you, you know!"
She looked so heartbreakingly earnest—like a stray kitten left out in the rain—that Shuo felt a stab of guilt. He knew he hadn't been there for her as much as she deserved.
"Sorry, Miku. That's on me. I'll visit more often, promise. Actually, we've got the whole afternoon free—want to join us for a bit of shopping?"
Miku's face lit up, but she paused, curiosity flickering.
"Wait… Darling, are you on a date right now?"
Shuo opened his mouth, but before he could answer, a sharp voice cut through the air.
"Who are you? And why are you clinging to Shuo?"
Tohka stood beside him, arms folded, eyes narrowed at Miku with the intensity of a jealous wife catching her husband with a "friend."
"Ara, Shuo-chan, didn't you promise to wait for us? Now you're off flirting with another girl?"
Kurumi, never one to let drama go to waste, leaned in, her smile wicked.
Even Origami, usually reserved, eyed Shuo and Miku's closeness with a faint hint of envy.
Shuo barely had time to explain before Miku's gaze locked onto the trio—her eyes widened, sparkling with delight.
"Oh my goodness! You're all so cute… and gorgeous!"
Miku's yuri side kicked in at full force. Tohka's curves and innocent smile, Kurumi's dangerous allure, Origami's quiet beauty—each one sent her into a flutter.
She shot to her feet, cheeks flushed, and practically bounced over to the girls.
"May I ask your names, beautiful ladies?"
Tohka blinked, caught off guard by Miku's enthusiastic friendliness.
"Me? I'm Yatogami Tohka."
"Yatogami Tohka… what a poetic name. I'll call you Tohka-chan from now on!"
Tohka beamed, basking in the praise.
"It is a nice name, isn't it? My most important person gave it to me."
Any trace of suspicion vanished; Tohka was all smiles.
Miku turned to Origami, gently taking her hand.
"And you, lovely lady? What's your name?"
Origami hesitated, feeling a little awkward under Miku's intense, adoring gaze.
"Um… I'm Itsuka Origami."
"Origami-chan, then!" Miku chirped, reluctantly letting go of her hand.
Finally, her gaze landed on Kurumi—the poppy in the bouquet, beautiful and just a little dangerous. Miku's eyes practically glowed, her smile turning a shade manic.
"And you, mysterious beauty? May I know your name?"
Kurumi's lips curled into a sly, unsettling grin. She could see right through Miku—another Spirit, and clearly not just a fan. The way Miku looked at her was almost predatory, like one of those obsessive admirers she'd encountered before.
Kurumi's eyes flickered with a rare hint of unease.
Wait… is she not only a Spirit, but a yuri maniac too?
She almost took a step back, but the Nightmare wasn't one to show fear for long.
Kurumi's voice dripped with theatrical menace.
"Hehehe… Nice to meet you. I'm Tokisaki Kurumi—the infamous Nightmare. If you're so interested in me, do you want to be devoured?"
Miku's jaw dropped.
"What?! You're the Nightmare?!"
She'd heard the legends—Kurumi, the Spirit who'd single-handedly killed over ten thousand people. The twisted smile on Kurumi's lips sent a chill down her spine; Miku instinctively shrank away.
Shuo stepped in, offering a gentle smile.
"That's enough, Kurumi. Don't scare Miku to death."
"Miku?"
The girls looked at Miku again, recognition dawning.
"No wonder you looked familiar—you're Yuzuru Miku, the superstar! We love your new songs!"
Tohka's eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Thank you, Tohka-chan," Miku replied, happiness radiating from her as she hugged Shuo's arm.
"Actually, I have Darling to thank for everything. He helped clear my name—and gave me those two songs."
"Darling… you mean Shuo? He cleared your name, and gave you two songs?"
Tohka stared at Shuo, puzzled.
Miku nodded, her voice full of warmth.
"Darling saved me from darkness. He gave me hope, and a new beginning."
She shared her story openly, the gratitude in her eyes unmistakable.
Kurumi's gaze lingered on Shuo, thoughtful.
"So 'Confession of Tears' and 'Crimson Lotus' were gifts from Shuo-chan…"
Those songs weren't just Tohka's favorites; every girl in the household adored them. They'd shattered streaming records, holding the top two spots in Japan.
None of them had realized the story behind those melodies—until now.
