"There's something you should know, Ruby," Kai said, his tone shifting slightly from their tender conversation. "Your partner is building a case against you."
She turned sharply her brow lifted. "Derek?"
"Yes," Kai confirmed. "He's had someone tailing you for days now. That same man was parked outside the diner last night, waiting for you. He took pictures of you from the moment you stepped out of your car."
Ruby let out a slow, incredulous breath, then scoffed. "is that so."
"Yes." Kai continued, his voice calm but deliberate. "Derek is preparing to sue you and his angle is a one of conspiracy, claiming you and I colluded to wrestle the company from him. He's going to play dirty even bringing our family dispute into the picture and paint me as a devil."
Ruby's lips curled, not in shock, but in pure revulsion.
