While Meng Ran and the others were discussing their attack plan on the periphery, Sai Ke was in Black Water headquarters, speaking with an investigation team from the main office.
A man in a suit, wearing glasses and with slicked-back, shiny hair, sat on the sofa in Sai Ke's office.
Behind him stood two stern-faced, muscular men wearing sunglasses.
The suit-clad man took a sip of the coffee in his hand, then frowned slightly before placing it back on the table.
Sai Ke sat on the sofa opposite the suit-clad man. Seeing the man's actions, he suppressed the annoyance in his heart and asked softly, "Mr. Will, is the coffee not to your taste?"
Will shook his head at Sai Ke's question and replied coldly, "That's not important. I didn't expect it to be good."
Hearing Will's words, Sai Ke felt like flipping him off with all his fingers.
After Om was sent to Black Water to complete his mission last time, his impression of these people from headquarters had only worsened.
When Om came before, Sai Ke had thought he might be able to put in a good word for him, so the headquarters would consider transferring him back from Black Water.
But after the failure of the last mission, Sai Ke had given up on that idea. He now only hoped that the headquarters would keep their eyes open and not involve him in the failure of the mission.
But now the headquarters had sent an investigation team again, and their attitude was so bad that it was unbearable.
He already felt that things seemed to be developing in a direction beyond his control.
Will glanced at Sai Ke, then took a file out of his briefcase.
After taking out the file, he didn't immediately open it, but looked at Sai Ke and said in a loud voice:
"Headquarters has been keeping an eye on your recent movements, and you've done well."
"There have also been some things going on at headquarters recently, so we haven't been able to mobilize any forces over here for the time being."
"The methods you're using are good; keep at it like this for a while."
Sai Ke didn't appear particularly happy to hear Will's praise.
He knew the investigation team wouldn't have come just to give him a pat on the back. There was definitely something else important.
Sure enough, after a few seconds of praise, Will shifted the conversation to the previous failed mission.
"Headquarters is aware of the previous mission's failure. Om reported the situation after returning to headquarters."
Will glanced at Sai Ke and continued, "Do you have anything to explain regarding the last mission?"
Sai Ke thought for a moment, then said in a low voice, "The main reason for the failure of the last mission wasn't on our side."
"The main reason was the target of the mission and his team."
"You mean the Evil Ghost and the Star of David Alliance?" Will's eyes narrowed slightly as he asked Sai Ke.
Sai Ke nodded in response to Will's question. "That's right, it's them."
"Mainly because their strength far exceeded our expectations."
After speaking, Sai Ke handed the data Lando had compiled to Will.
"This is the information on the Evil Ghost and the Star of David Alliance. Mr. Will, you can take a look."
Will took the data but didn't open it.
He put the data down and then took out the file in his hand, handing it to Sai Ke.
"This is the account of the mission failure, as told by Om, you can read it."
"According to him, the mission's failure wasn't just due to the opponent's strength."
"It's more because of you. As the person in charge of Black Water, you were somewhat derelict in your duties."
Will looked at Sai Ke, whose knuckles were white from gripping the document too tightly, and said this in a calm tone.
Sai Ke looked at the document. The more he read, the angrier he became, and his hands trembled more violently.
He never expected Om to be so shameless, shifting all the blame onto him.
To shirk his own responsibility, Om even fabricated excuses like Sai Ke disobeying orders, providing incorrect information, and acting without authorization.
Sai Ke's anger was already uncontrollable. He slammed the document onto the table and shouted at Will.
"He's talking crap! I've never even heard of the things he's saying! You can ask my subordinates if you don't believe me!"
"That bastard is just trying to shirk responsibility! He wants me to take the fall for him! He's dreaming, a complete fool!"
Sai Ke shouted in anger, banging his hand on the table at the same time.
Will, sitting opposite him, watched Sai Ke's agitation without a flicker of expression on his face.
He simply raised his hand, brushed off the nonexistent dust on his shoulder, and calmly said to Sai Ke, "Please calm down. That's precisely why our investigation team is here."
"Headquarters, of course, can't just take his word for it. We'll be here for a few days, collecting relevant data and information, and objectively compiling it for Headquarters."
Hearing Will's words, Sai Ke slumped back onto the sofa, taking deep breaths to calm his turbulent emotions.
Will looked at Sai Ke and continued, "Rest assured, Headquarters won't wrongly accuse anyone. We will conduct an objective investigation and evaluation."
"However, I suggest you behave impeccably over the next few days, holding out until Headquarters sends someone to deal with that Evil Ghost."
"By that time, I believe the credibility of your testimony will also increase significantly. This situation is also beneficial to you, isn't it?"
Sai Ke calmed down after hearing Will's words. Indeed, his anger was useless now. Om had already said what he needed to say, and he could only try his best to prove himself, as Will had suggested.
He took a deep breath and then said calmly to Will across from him, "Thank you for your suggestion, Mr. Will. Even without that objective, I will complete my work properly. After all, it's my duty."
"That's good." Upon hearing Sai Ke's words, a strange smile appeared on Will's usually impassive face.
In fact, Will's arrival was more about finding evidence to support some of the "evidence" Om had provided.
As for Sai Ke, this poor man had already become a pawn. When the headquarters could finally spare time to deal with that Evil Ghost, his final role would also be over.
The words Will had just said to Sai Ke were only to get him to continue working diligently for the company during this final period.
"Then our meeting ends here today. I will take my people to find the information we need," Will said to Sai Ke while standing up.
Just as Sai Ke was about to stand up and say something, a strange Undulation suddenly emanated from the distance.
